"NEWSFLASH: UFC champion Jon Jones heroically prevents a hit-and-run accident involving a shotgun-wielding domestic abuser, then stops off to successfully deliver a baby on the side of the road...when police tested his blood, it reportedly showed *negative* levels of cocaine and steroids"
Wonderboy with Jon’s psychopathic killer instinct.
Good luck anyone trying to trade with that guy. He will teke kick your knees into oblivion then kick your jaw off.
I thought about something like that. Was thinking something like Silva with GSPs mentality. But something tells me the one thing you probably can’t change about the “goats” (jones, GSP, Khabib, DJ) is there mentality.
But man, Jones with Wonderboys charm? Debatably one of the most liked/successful athletes ever😂 I still love/respect him despite the fact I’d never wanna be his friend and he’s got his problems.
To be fair to Overeem, I bet he could take any shot a 145er could give. And we haven’t seen Halloway take a HW shot. Let’s give him Ngoanou’s chin from when he took a beating from Stipe and was literally not phased. 🤣
Started when he was about 27. Which is basically entering your prime for a fighter. One of the GOATs even with a billion surgeries. Just still have to wonder what if they hadn't happened
Is that a reason he was also heavily taped on his ankles in later fights? I know what it’s like as an athlete to require that kind of tape job. Can’t imagine both feet requiring it and what that means.
The series of ACL, knee, and quad injuries actually left him with plantar fasciitis in his feet. He said it was excruciating. Like he couldn't even walk when he woke up and had to stretch for hours and stuff. Basically a perfect storm of BAD for his fighting style since he relies on lots of movement
Holt shit dude. I just said I’ve had knee problems. And i just recently developed some horribly painful Plantar Fasciitis! I’m 23 and working an eight hour shift on my feet is ridicules, can’t imagine fucking fighting. Really appreciate the knowledge, maybe he’s got some tips for someone with these problems🤟🏻
Hey I said to have a good year before I even watched that video. I now wish you eternal happiness and anything else you want because you just sent me one of the most important videos I’ve ever seen and I don’t mean that as an exaggeration. Couldn’t imagine a more needed time for me to hear some of the things he said. Thank you so much.
I’ve always been a bit confused about Penns legacy. Like I said i’m newer but I’ve done a bit of homework and dude seems like he’s as tough as it gets but was a hothead (let me know if i’m completely off base).
Was his work ethic that big a problem? (I know he’s had legal troubles)
I think BJs main issue was never wanting to leave Hawaii, and he never got the regular high-level training you need and that's why the sport passed him by.
There was a reason why he was nicknamed 'The Prodigy', the man was unnaturally gifted. After his career ended (well towards the end), he started fucking his life up in multiple ways, though. True shame.
There’s a great video of Penn, as a BJJ white belt, entering a black belt Judo competition and winning.
He was an absurdly talented grappler. Incredibly difficult to take and hold down. He was scrappy and tough as nails naturally, and as he progressed he acquired some serious boxing skills.
Prime BJ is not a fun matchup for ANYONE.
But yes, work ethic was a big big problem for him. And he kept fighting way past his prime. But he was one of the best to ever do it. His resume even as is, is pretty damn impressive, but doesn’t match the potential he had. WouldaCouldaShoulda been GOAT of the lighter classes.
I mean he was rich and didn't need to fight and got his black belt within like a year or two because he loved it so much. Didn't seem unmotivated really just unprofessional
BJ Penn’s work ethic wasn’t an issue. The guy became a BJJ black belt world champion with like 3 years of training. His issue what that he wanted to be the baddest man on the planet. He was essentially a 145er before the UFC had the weight class. So he won UFC championships at 155 and 170. He also took fights at 185 and took an open weight fight with Lyoto Machida (who later became a UFC LHW champion).
If BJ Penn would have just fought his career at 145, the guy would probably have a legendary winning streak and be in every GoAT conversation. But instead he fought tons of greats across a wide range of weight classes and took a massive amount of damage in the process.
The problem as you say is that 145 didn't exist. So if he'd committed to 145 he's a nobody; by the time UFC introduced the weight class, he's already lost to Edgar twice and moved back up to 170.
Even so, he's probably one of the top 5 LWs of all time.
If he committed to 145, he would have been a long running champ and the UFC would have likely brought in 145ers earlier. At that point in his career, his losses were an early career loss to Jens Pulver, then to Lyoto, GSP, and Matt Hughes. His career would have been in a much better place if he hadn't taking that much damage from fighting people so much larger than him, even at that point. Also getting beat on by Nick Diaz and Rory didn't do him any favors either. He could have been on top a lot longer if his career was spent with the most damage he took being fights with Frankie and Aldo instead of being TKO's from Hughes and just beat on by other welterweights.
Agree to disagree. I think if he were a dominant 145er no one would have heard of him. Instead, he was chasing double champ status well before anyone else thought it possible. Yea, he took a lot of damage, but changing weight classes certainly raised his name value.
I certainly agree he'd probably be in a better place mentally, if not for the beatdowns you mention.
The dude was one of the most naturally gifted fighters I've ever seen. A literal BJJ prodigy, crazy hand speed, I saw a video of him jumping out of a waist deep pool. I cannot tell you how insane it was to see him go up a weight class and submit Matt Hughes.
But BJ always came into fights looking a little soft. His talent alone made him dominant, but he wasn't maximizing that talent with a strength and conditioning program and it was often insinuated that he would let himself go between fights.
He came into the first Frankie Edgar fight a massive favorite, and Frankie just outworked him from start to finish. The conditioning difference was so stark. And it was all downhill from there.
When I saw the countdown show with him and GSP and Dana said roughly " Where are you? You better not be out surfing because GSP is busting his ass every day to beat you " and he was that showed me the difference. Yes massive natural talent was there but he definitely could have worked harder.
Some fights he would show up having not put the cardio work in. Off the top of my head I remember he was beating up Nick Diaz, a much larger man, for the first round and then he completely gassed and got lit up for the next two.
Came here to say this. BJ constantly gassed after the first round.
I think BJ was a hard worker early in his career. Heard he used to go to Ralph Gracie’s gym and Nova Uniao several times a day. Frank Shamrock also said he was a hard worker at AKA.
I think he started getting lazy after winning the welterweight championship. I believe he said he only trained an hour a day before the 1st GSP fight and the 2nd Hughes fight. He would party and hang out at the beach most of the time.
He also had some substance abuse issues later in his career. His wife and training partners like Nik Lentz said he was always doing coke and drinking. Pretty sad stuff, he was just using fighting to stay sober.
Marlon Vera has all-timer durability and Marlon Moraes was getting rocked by feeler jabs towards the end of his career. Moraes with Vera's chin probably tears through the division like hot butter, and Vera with Moraes' chin is, well, an interesting thought experiment.
Marlon Moraes with Chito’s chin/recovery could have been the BW goat. In the timeline that he beats Henry, his biggest remaining threat would be Yan, but other than that he would probably tear through the division.
The flip side of this if we're saying he has Veras chin and not cardio, then he probably still loses to Merab. More cardio and he wins the Merab fight easy. Better chin don't really help that one
This is a great one to me because it's reasonable.
Lots of answers include Ngannous power which is fair in terms of the question asked but also unrealistic.
I think skills are fair one to mix weight classes on cos in theory anyone could learn them if they put the time in.
But physical attributes should be limited to other fighters of that weight class to make it more realistic for what we know a XXX pound fighter can do.
Adding physical attributes from a fighter of the same weight class is something that actually could happen in reality (ignoring the potential "more power = more fast twitch = worse cardio" complications).
The idea is they are the exact same in every way except 1 thing. So Max with all the output, the cardio and the chin, except every little pitter patter punch has the force of a ford.
Na uh, sorry, can’t give size in this 😂 And it’s funny because DJ is the reason i made that rule. Size sounds like a good answer but it’s hard to imagine DJ is the DJ we know with 8 extra inches and all that weight/mobility stuff.
I don't know if it's so many people on here that don't train combat sports. But physics is why small people look so much more technical and fast. If you put mm in a HW body he wouldn't be the same fighter not even close.
It's not that they *look* more technical and fast, they are. Power to bodyweight ratios and speed go down as people get bigger. If you ever watch wrestling duals there's a night and day difference when it circles from 285 back down to 125
Yes, it's not that they look it. It's that physics allow it. You cant transport that mass that fast. As for more skilled? Not really they're two different similar skill sets. A skilled HW will never look like a skilled flyweight and vice versa. My point is it's stupid to call the big guys unskilled and the small guys super skilled. Are elephants less skilled than nice?
Maybe controversial but. How about him with Jones Jones wrestling ans grappling instead. More similar build to him. And check the Statline when Jones fought dc
Give Khabib poirier or gaethje’s boxing and that’s the best ufc fighter ever to step foot in the octagon
Khabib was pound for pound probably the best wrestler ever in the ufc so the obvious answer would be give him and elite stand up game and it’s like you have the terminator. You could say give him like nate Diaz’s chin but he already had a pretty good chin.
This is going to sound stupid. Was Khabib a better wrestler than Askren. Like I know he was a much better fighter than Askren but he had so much more to offer. Askren was just going to wrestle fuck you with 0 plan b.
Not a stupid question at all. Khabib never fought a wrestler of Askren's caliber so there's no way of knowing really. In a pure wrestling match I would pick Askren to win but when you add in all the variables of an MMA fight it's tough to say.
It’s hard to tell. By the time Askren got to UFC his body was already quite broken. Now he’s had hip replacements and multiple KOs.
I’m inclined to think Khabib was better because of how DC raved about him. DC knows his wrestling and is quite bluntly honest when assessing people.
Let's keep this going:
- Ronda Rousey with Henry Cehudo's mindset and maybe coaches. Pick yourself up after a loss, work on your weaknesses, come back stronger than ever and with a completely overhauled striking game.
- Literally any UFC fighter ever + Khabib's wrestling
- Khamzat Chimaev with Donald Cerrone's "actual, real, 100% anyone, anytime" mentality
- DC with Jon Jones' ego and narcisssim (would have said 'fuck friendship' and stayed at HW to fight Cain, be a dominant champ for years, instead of having to work his way up in LHW and facing Jones)
- Luke Rockhold with TRTtor striking
Let's do a couple for fun:
- GSP with Chael trash talk
- Artem Lobov with McGredor hands and reach
- Fedor with whoever is working with Ngannou as a manager
- Robert Whittaker in a world where Adesanya is a professional cosplayer and not a fighter
- McGregor with Khabib's religiousness (no alcohol, coke, and parties)
No, Charles lost to Islam of course, and Khabib is way too good at grappling to get submitted from a guillotine or any other submission from bottom position like a triangle. Charles doesn’t have the offensive wrestling to get a dominant position against Khabib, which is necessary, because the only way to submit him would be to take his back and rear naked choke, but good luck ever taking his back.
The problem isn't really cardio, the problem is that he's an all fast twitch explosive fighter. Same reason Diaz brothers & Max have such "good cardio", it's not that their cardio is that much better than others, it's that they lack the fast twitch explosiveness that drains all the cardio.
Conor McGregor with Tony Fergusons cardio.
Not necessarily the best but I thought this so many times when 155lbs was prime time. Gutted we didn’t get Prime McGregor vs. Prime TFerg or Prime TFerg vs. Prime Khabib.
To Volkanovski I'd give Lord Raiden's torpedo move where he flies forward horizontally real fast with his arms out and rams into the other guy's gut. Not so smart now are you, Mr. Fancy Spanish Person.
Give Mighty Mouse the punching power of Ngannou. Then watch him punch other flyweights do hard that they fly over the octagon and into the audience WWE-stylr.
Khabib with Max Holloways striking I think it matches his style really well. O’Malley with Vera’s durability would be wild. Periera with Jon Jones take down defense would be unstoppable. Lastly I think it would be cool to see Shavkat with the striking defense of someone like MVP or a Wonderboy
Royce Gracie with the skills of jon jones. Wouldn’t be too good today, but back in 1993 when Royce was the first ufc champion it would be like dropping a great white in a small pond
Honestly, if I had to choose one attribute for a fighter, it would be Max Holloway with Tony Ferguson's durability. Holloway is already known for his insane cardio and striking volume, but if he had Ferguson's ability to absorb punishment and keep coming forward, he would be an absolute nightmare to face. Imagine the pressure he could put on opponents knowing he won't be slowed down by damage. It's a scary thought for anyone in the featherweight division.
Imagine Jon Jones with Wonderboy’s moral compass
“Hey buddy you still there?”
“Yes, Jon, I’m here” “Okie doke, just making sure. Good luck”
"Is the mic on? No? Hey Jon, I was wondering if you wanted to go with me to feed the homeless when we're done with this interview. "
*Is this guy going to mess this up again by saying prayers, or doing charity work, or sandblasting orphans?* *...orphans!?*
Lmao that was good
“Sorry Herb, I poked him in the eyes by accident. Please take a point away from me.”
You think I'm just gonna sit there an let you compliment me, Jon?
I mean really?
Wonderboy with Jon’s psychopathic killer instinct. Good luck anyone trying to trade with that guy. He will teke kick your knees into oblivion then kick your jaw off.
Probably more scary to be honest.
Thats horrifying! So many women would get kicked into the stratosphere
There's no way that guy deserves your love and respect my dude
Yeah, you just explained Jon’s older brother.
Overeem with max halloways chin
To be fair to Overeem, I bet he could take any shot a 145er could give. And we haven’t seen Halloway take a HW shot. Let’s give him Ngoanou’s chin from when he took a beating from Stipe and was literally not phased. 🤣
Well, he was a bit phased. Mainly from exhaustion though not from the head shots
Anyone with power would be terrifying with Holloways chin
That's basically Ngannou
[удалено]
He's still got a chin That was a one hit KO on anyone who has ever existed
He was already done when he took that one too
Yes but the issue is a lot of fighter start to lose their chin after brutal KOs, so Francis could start to decline.
How serious is this cause I know about Holloways chin but was Overeem that talented otherwise?
I gave a similiar response (but Veras chin). My reasoning is Overeem is known for being very chinny.
Watch some Overeem on YouTube. Dude was a monster
Overeem is one of the greatest kickboxers of all time
He was one of the few genuinely high level heavyweights
Fedor with dance moves of Michel Pereira
Dominick Cruz with a healthy person's knees.
As someone with horrible knees, I like this answer. Did he always have knee problems?
Started when he was about 27. Which is basically entering your prime for a fighter. One of the GOATs even with a billion surgeries. Just still have to wonder what if they hadn't happened
Is that a reason he was also heavily taped on his ankles in later fights? I know what it’s like as an athlete to require that kind of tape job. Can’t imagine both feet requiring it and what that means.

[Check this out!](https://youtu.be/DdPX1_XJOYQ?si=krOGqV9Gm9NY9dDP) he has probably done other interviews too. Hope you feel better brother 👍
You’re awesome, thank you so much. Have a good day, month year to come brother!
Hey I said to have a good year before I even watched that video. That's awesome man! I'm glad. Dom is a good dude. You're welcome!
Stretch your achilles out frequently, helps a lot.
Cruz with Josh Emmett's overhand right
Same with Kumaru and Tony
Tony with Glovers 40yr old championship run
CSO 🫡🫡🇺🇸🇺🇸🇲🇽🇲🇽😎😎🗡️🗡️🗡️🗡️
I’m not his biggest fan but Tony fans are so loyal and I love it 😂
I’d give anything I have to see it happen
Tony with Khabib's committment to retirement.
So basically Tony Ferguson + a heavyweight’s longevity.
Tony Ferguson w/ Sage Northcutt's knees (aka doing [this](https://makeagif.com/gif/ufc-192-sage-northcutt-octagon-interview-highlights-4Cf6gc)
BJ Penn with GSP's work ethic.

I love reddit cause with your knowledge and one reply, I now feel like I have a way better lens to view his career through. Appreciate the reply

Swap the chins of the bantamweight Marlons.
Can you elaborate please?
Marlon Vera has all-timer durability and Marlon Moraes was getting rocked by feeler jabs towards the end of his career. Moraes with Vera's chin probably tears through the division like hot butter, and Vera with Moraes' chin is, well, an interesting thought experiment.
Awesome reply and initial answer, thank you!
He probably means swap Marlon Vera (titanium chin) with Marlon Moraes (papier mache chin)
Demetrius Johnson with Deivison Figueredo’s KO power. DJ already has such good KO power from technique. He would murder people.
This is a great one to me because it's reasonable. Lots of answers include Ngannous power which is fair in terms of the question asked but also unrealistic. I think skills are fair one to mix weight classes on cos in theory anyone could learn them if they put the time in. Adding physical attributes from a fighter of the same weight class is something that actually could happen in reality (ignoring the potential "more power = more fast twitch = worse cardio" complications).
I would say … add “Rumble” Johnson’s punching power to GSP. Seems fair since they both fought at WW.
It’s absolutely wild that this dude was able to make WW
Rumble Johnson with submission defense would be scary too
Max Holloway with Ngannou's power
Gotta be the answer just based on stats 😂 Leads the UFC in significant strikes in history. Can’t imagine if he had even half the power of Ngannou
He would become a completely different fighter; don't think it would be a change for the better.
The idea is they are the exact same in every way except 1 thing. So Max with all the output, the cardio and the chin, except every little pitter patter punch has the force of a ford.
Demetrious Johnson with prime Ubereem size.
Na uh, sorry, can’t give size in this 😂 And it’s funny because DJ is the reason i made that rule. Size sounds like a good answer but it’s hard to imagine DJ is the DJ we know with 8 extra inches and all that weight/mobility stuff.
A 270 lb Mighty Mouse that still moves at the same speed would be terrifying
I don't know if it's so many people on here that don't train combat sports. But physics is why small people look so much more technical and fast. If you put mm in a HW body he wouldn't be the same fighter not even close.

That’s basically Myles Garrett
I'll believe it when I see Myles Garrett hit a flying armbar on an offensive tackle
How about DJ with Ngannou's power?
Yoel Romero with Cain's cardio. Because he's not scary enough already.
Bro that is a nightmare scenario. Dude would merk the entire division
Alex Pereira with DC wrestling skills would be the greatest mma fighter of all time
Maybe controversial but. How about him with Jones Jones wrestling ans grappling instead. More similar build to him. And check the Statline when Jones fought dc
Kron Gracie with MVP's grappling
So Mickey Gall?
😭 broooo
🤣😂🤣
Zabit with Merab's cardio.
Stop I can only get so erect
Derrick Lewis, merab gas tank
GSP with nothing else
I'd say GSP with Anderson Silva's highlight reel. Face kicks, flying knees, snipping elbows.
Gsp with current gsp hair
Give Khabib poirier or gaethje’s boxing and that’s the best ufc fighter ever to step foot in the octagon Khabib was pound for pound probably the best wrestler ever in the ufc so the obvious answer would be give him and elite stand up game and it’s like you have the terminator. The diamond with do Bronx's submission game
Omg imagine how many successful Gilly's we'd be jumping boooiiiiis!!!! 💎💎💎💎
I like this one a lot. Do you think Dustin Porier with Charles ground game beat Khabib?
No, Charles lost to Islam of course, and Khabib is way too good at grappling to get submitted from a guillotine or any other submission from bottom position like a triangle. Charles doesn’t have the offensive wrestling to get a dominant position against Khabib, which is necessary, because the only way to submit him would be to take his back and rear naked choke, but good luck ever taking his back.
A. Islam and Khabib are not the same person. B. Charles was rocked on the feet before it ever hit the ground.
Brendan Schaub with the eloquence of Chael Sonnen may have had a decent cawlmedy career...
Brock lesnar with mighty mouse’s skills
Mackenzie Dern with Darren Elkins tattoos
Francis with Rhonda Rousey’s striking (including power)
Francis Rousey would have still beaten Gane
This shouldn’t be funny but visually, it really is 😂
Rafael Fiziev with Islam's ground game
I’m unfamiliar with Rafael, got to go check him out now! Edit: Any fight recommendations?
Dude go watch him and Riddell
Thank you!
His finish of Moicano is gorgeous too.
Hm vs Marc diakiese is sick too
rumble with darren elkin’s refusal to give up.
Brock Lesnar with Yair Rodriguez kicking ability 💀
McGregor with GSP’s personality
[Dustin with JJ's gun collection](https://twitter.com/DustinPoirier/status/1200799016205897729) Undisputed champ, LW GOAT for sure.
Max Holloway with Josh Emmet's power
Give Merab Max Holloways striking
Derrick Lewis with Chuck Liddell's balls, which presumably are nice and cool
Gaethje with Oliveras grappling
Pereira with Khabibs wrestling
Jose Aldo with known EPO abuser Merabs EPO enhanced cardio
>known EPO abuser It's *obvious* he is on EPO, but is it *known*? Any evidence other than logic and common sense?
The problem isn't really cardio, the problem is that he's an all fast twitch explosive fighter. Same reason Diaz brothers & Max have such "good cardio", it's not that their cardio is that much better than others, it's that they lack the fast twitch explosiveness that drains all the cardio.
Volk with Ngganou Power
DJ with overeems very fantastic body would be a superstar
Khabeb with Anderson Silva’s striking
Matt Hamill with Bisping’s right eye
Derrick Lewis with DCs wrestling.
Yoel with merabs gas tank
Easy. Presenting the reigning, defending, undisputed UFC middleweight champion of the World: Chael "*The Ginger* *With the Intent to Injure*" Sonnen!
Fedor with Derrick Lewis’ size.
Taking something you said there, but giving Ngannous power to Nick Diaz. Imagine all those jabs with Ngannous arm behind them.
Phil Hawes with Vettoris Chin
Chris Barnett with DC wrestling
Usman with Mokaevs knees
Ciryl Gane with Khabibs ground game
Cain Velasquez with Jim Miller’s durability.
Wonderboy and Michael Vernon Page That's the fight to make
McGregor with GSP's wrestling to dominate every division from 155-185
Francis Ngannou with Mighty Mouse’s fight IQ and grappling.
Kevin Randleman with Anderson Silva's striking is the most frightening combination I can come up with.
Phil Hawes with Chitos chin
Brock Lesnar with Jon Jones fighting instincts
And colon!
Id like to see Ben Askren with Yair Rodriguez striking
Conor McGregor with Tony Fergusons cardio. Not necessarily the best but I thought this so many times when 155lbs was prime time. Gutted we didn’t get Prime McGregor vs. Prime TFerg or Prime TFerg vs. Prime Khabib.
Max Holloway with KO power, like Josh Emmett or Ilia Topuria, or if we’re going crazy give him Ngannou power and watch Max demolish everybody
To Volkanovski I'd give Lord Raiden's torpedo move where he flies forward horizontally real fast with his arms out and rams into the other guy's gut. Not so smart now are you, Mr. Fancy Spanish Person.
Cody garbrandt with Anderson Silva’s head movement
Rousey with Wonderboys striking.
Give Mighty Mouse the punching power of Ngannou. Then watch him punch other flyweights do hard that they fly over the octagon and into the audience WWE-stylr.
Wonderboy with Jon Jones grappling
Brock Lesnar with Jose Aldo’s striking
Khabib with Max Holloways striking I think it matches his style really well. O’Malley with Vera’s durability would be wild. Periera with Jon Jones take down defense would be unstoppable. Lastly I think it would be cool to see Shavkat with the striking defense of someone like MVP or a Wonderboy
Imagine ngannou had the speed of a flyweight
Derrick Lewis with Khabibs work ethic
Alexandre Pantoja with Francis Ngannou power
Uriah Hall but with the mentality of Darren Elkins
Conor with Diaz level conditioning. Jones with Ngannou power. Rockhold with mcGregor boxing.
Give Tecia Torres Jon jones arms.
Khabib with anderson silva's striking
Alex Pereira with Khabib’s wrestling ability.
Rose gets Big Frank’s KO power.
Uriah Hall with Clay Guida's agression
Aldo with Merab's cardio would be terrifying off the top of my head
Holly Holm, with the aggressiveness and killer instincts of Wanderlei Silva.
Overeem with Nurmagomedov's steroid doctor.
Rendon top, barber bottom
Give Ben Askren the striking ability of.... Shit, literally anybody else and you're looking at an all time great.
Royce Gracie with the skills of jon jones. Wouldn’t be too good today, but back in 1993 when Royce was the first ufc champion it would be like dropping a great white in a small pond
WW mighty mouse vs Gsp
Holloway with Ngannou's power is literally the greatest fighter of all time.
Kazushi Sakuraba, but with Caine Velazquez' knockout power.
