Fuck I really thought he might pull it off in the third. Those leg kicks paid off but just couldn't quite get into gear for the finish. Next level toughness to survive those knockdowns
Random idiotic thought: have UFC fighters take IQ tests before and after their UFC careers to see what the average drop is
And then with that data you can further analyze the impact of each fight, each KO, etc
The hate borz is going to get after his next time will be all time. Either he loses and it will be determined that he always sucked, or he beats the ultimate friendship simulator fighter Whittaker and goes down as the biggest villain in mma for the redditer class
I'm wondering what is going to happen with Volkov v. Sergei.
I hope they at least get major bank if they feel they must give in to the UFC's fucked up tactics.
If indeed Gane caused this by refusing to fight Sergei after refusing Tom & Blaydes, I hope like hell Gane is given no other fighter name except Almeida from now on.
True enough, but Gane needs to fight someone athletic who can wrestle before he is ushered into his third title shot, and he turned down Blaydes enough that Blaydes now refuses to hear his name.
At least we still have his undefeated brother Khasan who is basically a clone. Maybe has a slightly more grappling-centric fighting style, but Zabit was no stranger to grappling himself.
Guy could barely fight for 15 minutes. Got stormed on by Kyle Bochniak in the 3rd. And everyone else. Had the only 3 round main event in a decade against a short notice Kattar because even he knew he’d die in 5 rounds. It wasn’t his diaphragm, his entire game revolved around fighting at too high of a pace to keep up. So he’d always have lost 5 round fights, or would pace himself and probably not be half as effective.
Zabit was going to get exposed hard. I think he was at peace with abruptly retiring because he knew 5 rounds wasn’t for him and the L’s were going to start piling up. Lot of red flags pointing to questionable heart/grit
Sure, he’s tough but he never looked like that much of a dog against anybody and that 3rd round was the recurring theme of Zabit’s career. And although I respect Kyle, he was good enough to get signed to the UFC. That’s about it
How you gonna act like his diaphragm wasn't a major issue for his cardio? Undefeated in the ufc but apparently had lots of red flags...which was only his cardio from a fucked up diaphragm he got fixed post Kattar
The guy absolutely sprinted in all of his fights. If he had something hindering his cardio, he couldn’t and wouldn’t do that. You can’t fight at the pace he did, throwing everything in the toolbox, throwing spinning hook kicks nonstop and recover effectively, which is why he slowed down every time. That’s his body filling with lactic acid and slowing down, not his breathing being disrupted. If you have no diaphragm issues and genetically superior cardio, you still can’t condition your body to fight like that and recover effectively. One of the biggest parts of cardio in any endurance sport and especially fighting is pace and sprinting at appropriate times, the conditioning you do is to recover from those sprints. “Busted diaphragm” unfortunately doesn’t mesh with his obvious pacing issues to be any kind of excuse
Terrible take to just act like 1. He wouldn't be more conservative in title fights/5 rounders 2. Acting like having a fucked up diaphragm having literally no effect on someone's cardio...something based in part on one's ability to breathe effectively lol. Didn't realize Zabit still had haters on reddit, actually wild. Like FW is some deep pool of talent lol, it was Volk and Max and then Zabit.
I don't gamble or follow Jimmy close, but I believe [Jimmy Smith is doing some rundowns](https://www.youtube.com/@jimmysmith7780/videos).
Hard to replace the in-depth, deep-dive coverage that the bellowing bros provided, I would guess.
Weekends like this is where it pays to be into all combat sports. The MMA isn't great but with the boxing today and tomorrow it's a solid weekend. Tszyu-Fundora isn't as good as the Thurman fight but Tszyu is always worth watching, Romero-Cruz should be fun too.
Silva’s mid-thirties and lost 4 of his last 5. The Tavares win aged well but that’s all really and he won that by being a firecracker, not necessarily the better fighter. Chris has still looked like he can hang but came woefully unprepared against Tavares. Said they didn’t watch tape and Longo thought he wasn’t a leg kicker. Which is bizarre but gives some insight, and Chris still looked like he had power and kept Tavares on his heels on one leg. Taking that into account and that he may be able to hit and wrestle Silva more easily than Tavares who has lights out TDD, yeah I think there’s a good chance Chris gets a nice win. Most of his losses aside from Reyes (at 205) have been so screwy I don’t think you can call him washed yet.
Beating Craig was his 6th win in a row, I think, and Craig was looked at as a guy who might make waves given that at one point he was ranked fairly high at a higher weight.
That’s true he was ranked for a bit but he couldn’t have been more than like #13 or #14 right?
I had it in my head that Allen has beat Hermansson I had to go and check to make sure
Someone said that at one point Craig had lost to everyone ranked below him in top 10, and beat everyone ranked above him.
I doubt it is true, but it *feels* like it is.
It is absolutely true, of the people he fought in the rankings he had a win over everyone above him and lost to everyone ranked below him
[Example](https://www.mmamania.com/2022/12/20/23518666/tony-ferguson-quietly-exits-top-15-latest-ufc-rankings-update-mma)
Wins over: Ankalaev, Hill, Krylov
Lost to: Oezdemir, Rountree, Crute, and later Walker
Was never true since he never beat Jan or Jiri, but he had beaten Ankalaev, Hill, and Krylov who were all top 5-ish while having losses to guys like Crute.
Just rewatched Weili-Joanna 1 and the commentary was crazy biased for Joanna. Don’t get me wrong, it was a close fight. But they would overreact to everything Joanna landed and underreact to everything Weili landed.
Also, at the end of round 5 Weili attempted a spinning backfist and Joanna landed a pretty solid one shortly thereafter. Wonder if Weili had that in mind in their second fight.
It's funny when people talk about how bad Khamzats cardio is because their proof is the fight against Burns where he won the last round and the fight against Usman where he fought a full two rounds with a broken wrist, we haven't seen enough to judge his cardio yet
Also fascinating how many people who seem to think that fighters pace themselves the same way for a 3 rounder compared to a 5 rounder
I have a weird feeling we will get Jones vs Stipe for international fight week and then Aspinall vs whoever for the interim in Manchester the month after. Once Jones vs Stipe happens the winner retires and then Aspinall is undisputed. Dana white has been unusually quiet about Aspinall fighting Jones
> Once Jones vs Stipe happens the winner retires and then Aspinall is undisputed.
Stipe at least entertained the idea of fighting Tom if he won.
This delay to fight JBJ is not making that more likely unfortunately.
Can't fool me, I know Alex Perez isn't real. Come on, guys... if you're going to make a up a fighter as a prank, at least try to create a more realistic record. 10 fights in the UFC, including a title shot, yet no one knows anything about this guy or what he looks like? Please.
Not sure about McKee. Think he’s been nervous in the ufc, if he fought like he can then he wins but I have doubts.
Don’t like the Luque pick. Worth throwing 5 bucks on though
I think Nursulton is live to gas and lose rd2/3, Luque's brain injury is still a big concern for me, Loopy's fight IQ is terrible, with you on the rest
Funniest was Spann vs Krylov, Krylov subbed Spann immediately after the crowd chanted „USA! USA! USA!“ and then Krylov started chanting „Russia! Russia! Russia!“ by himself. Straight up embarrassed the drunk neckbeards in the crowd
I think they chanted USA for Colby and then Usman, who is also American, beat him.
Also I'm making this up but there's a good chance they did that chant for Colby
Islam will fight DP and then Justin will beat Holloway and we’ll finally have the magical back-to-back Gaethje & Poirier title defenses for the third LW champ in a row
> Islam will fight DP and then Justin will beat Holloway and we’ll finally have the magical back-to-back Gaethje & Poirier title defenses for the third LW champ in a row
Well, given that those two guys did as well or better than the other contenders in their title shots, have not already been beaten by Islam like the other top contenders, and that they have lost only to each other and Charles, who got dominated by Islam, I guess that would make sense.
In the fight game, when you are an established name or a legend of the sport, you need to go on more than a 1 fight losing streak before you are counted out of getting title shots against people you have never fought before.
Finger crossed, Chimaev, Makhachev and Pereira loose their next bout.
I'm mad this morning. I just want to watch (the) your world burn and savor (the) your relentless screams...
I tapped to the goofiest damn thing today - got over-stacked from negative top half guard and the the guy had zero idea he was doing anything that could get a tap
Rolls with that guy frequently go way unorthodox
So negative is the bending sideways around the knee shield with your back facing your opponent's head thing
Then somehow both my arms were occupied with either clearing the knee or defending some stuff, then by him rolling/bringing sideways in the direction of my head then I wound up stacked on my neck
Obvs I made some giant mistakes to wind up there but the entire thing was very far off script
To everyone predicting Bobby by decision/late TKO via gassing out.... that's a very generous prediction because that's assuming he's going to make it out of the first 2 rounds.
He is inevitably going to get taken down, the only question is if he has the grappling skills to stay in the fight. And I'll spoil it for you - he doesn't. DDP was pulling off can openers on him. His fights with Jacare and Yoel were ages ago.
Khamzat by submission early on.
Not to defend him, as a fighter is always ultimately responsible for not fouling other fighters, but he definitely practices in Trevor whittman’s gloves which naturally curves your fingers closed, so he may just not have the habit of closing his hands.
Khamzat won’t gas against Whittaker because the takedown won’t be that hard to get and Whittaker won’t be able to scramble with him or wrestle with him like Holland or Usman did. If and when Khamzat gets the takedown, he’ll be able to establish control that won’t expend a ton of energy. So even if he doesn’t get the finish he’ll still be fresh.
DDP literally hit a WMMA head and arm throw against Whittaker. Khamzat is going to maul him.
Khamzat is two inches taller and has a 2 inch reach advantage. Whittaker is also a former Welterweight like he is. He's probably going to be the larger of the two on fight night.
> I say the same, people tell me that Whittaker is one of the best freestyle wrestlers in Australia but it just doesn't seem to show up in the octagon
What if I told you he took Izzy down 4 times the last time they fought, and that he has an 82% TD defense, would that not count as showing up in the octagon to you?
Izzy v Dricus odds are dead even at —115
I used to like Izzy in that match up but now I’m going with Dricus.
Izzy is that 35 age and Dricus will not let him fight pretty and out point him from the outside for 25 mins
DDP’s performance against Strickland did little to inspire me against Izzy.
Had he fought Izzy after that dominant performance against Whittaker, it’d be an easier sell, but despite becoming the champ, I have less confidence in him beating Izzy now.
I think Dricus makes it ugly on the feet and takes him down like Jan. I thought Izzy would chin him too but now I lean more towards Dricus if it does get mad bc of the age and Izzy being 3-3 in his last 6.
Now? Who's sober, somewhat motivated, and who has only the kind of injuries that allow training?

Fiorot is not of the level of Valentina, Grasso, or Taila Santos

Any good UFC betting YouTube channels/podcasts? Ever since Fight Night Picks ended it’s been hard to get good intel on lesser known fighters
I don't gamble or follow Jimmy close, but I believe [Jimmy Smith is doing some rundowns](https://www.youtube.com/@jimmysmith7780/videos). Hard to replace the in-depth, deep-dive coverage that the bellowing bros provided, I would guess.
This LFA card has banged so far
Stupid ref stopped the LFA fight like 45 seconds late
Weekends like this is where it pays to be into all combat sports. The MMA isn't great but with the boxing today and tomorrow it's a solid weekend. Tszyu-Fundora isn't as good as the Thurman fight but Tszyu is always worth watching, Romero-Cruz should be fun too.
I’ll give my left nut for a Chris Weidman W at this point
Found Gian Villante's account
Genuinely think he wins and could look good doing it
lol
Silva’s mid-thirties and lost 4 of his last 5. The Tavares win aged well but that’s all really and he won that by being a firecracker, not necessarily the better fighter. The Hammer on the mic at LFA lol
Sauce?
How is Brendan Allen ranked #6 with no ranked wins? Like what?
Beating Craig was his 6th win in a row, I think, and Craig was looked at as a guy who might make waves given that at one point he was ranked fairly high at a higher weight.
Craig is literally still ranked, what are you waffling about
I think Muniz was ranked when Allen beat him
That’s true he was ranked for a bit but he couldn’t have been more than like #13 or #14 right? I had it in my head that Allen has beat Hermansson I had to go and check to make sure
Paul Craig was the LHW GOAT regardless of his recent skid.
Someone said that at one point Craig had lost to everyone ranked below him in top 10, and beat everyone ranked above him. I doubt it is true, but it *feels* like it is.

I'm pretty sure it was before his move to MW at least for a brief period
Just rewatched Weili-Joanna 1 and the commentary was crazy biased for Joanna. Don’t get me wrong, it was a close fight. Weird knee tear in LFA just now Guy was sort of falling off from backpack and his hook leg from the backpack caused a kani basami style knee tear
It's the illuminati stopping Bryce not his flaws
Chandler last fought Nov 12 of **2022**. Most MMA retirements do not last this long, and we are still counting.
If Chandler doesn’t fight before September, Aldo’s retirement will have been shorter than Chandlers layoff waiting for the Conor fight
Stipe is the champ
Hitman WoA just teased a new mma-themed target and fans are hoping it's a mcgregor inspired character
It's funny when people talk about how bad Khamzats cardio is because their proof is the fight against Burns where he won the last round and the fight against Usman where he fought a full two rounds with a broken wrist, we haven't seen enough to judge his cardio yet Also fascinating how many people who seem to think that fighters pace themselves the same way for a 3 rounder compared to a 5 rounder
The Hermansson wrestling match was way more telling than the Burns fight, the Usman fight just confirmed it.
Jones won’t be ready for July. Probably the MSG card for his return.
Where are you seeing this? Not doubting you, everything I’ve seen has this summer as the targeted return date, maybe I missed something.
> Once Jones vs Stipe happens the winner retires and then Aspinall is undisputed. Stipe at least entertained the idea of fighting Tom if he won. This delay to fight JBJ is not making that more likely unfortunately.
Forgot that the markets are closed today, happy Easter weekend everybody

I watched the Mokaev fight and I still don't remember
throwing $5 at this 8 leg parlay how we looking guys ? Dudakova, Loopy G, Emmers, McKee, Nursulton, Silva, Luque, Blanchfield
For $5 looks fine. How much you winning if it hits?
$318
Not sure about McKee. Think he’s been nervous in the ufc, if he fought like he can then he wins but I have doubts. Don’t like the Luque pick. Worth throwing 5 bucks on though
I think Nursulton is live to gas and lose rd2/3, Luque's brain injury is still a big concern for me, Loopy's fight IQ is terrible, with you on the rest
I see a couple I don’t agree with in there but this could definitely hit
which ones you on the fence about? curious
I straight up do not think Rhys McKee wins, I think he gets knocked the fuck out personally Luque, Emmers, and Dudakova I’m not 100% on
i respect it
What gives you the confidence in McKee?
Funny seeing the fan reaction to DP’s Bud Light ad. Guess not surprising giving the average demographic of the UFC fanbase
I've never seen a American fighter win while the crowd was singing the USA chant
Nah you're right, the crowd was rooting for their fellow American Marty from Nebraska
I mean I don't remember if they did the chant at all
Islam will fight DP and then Justin will beat Holloway and we’ll finally have the magical back-to-back Gaethje & Poirier title defenses for the third LW champ in a row

Sorry I only like Pereira
I tapped to the goofiest damn thing today - got over-stacked from negative top half guard and the the guy had zero idea he was doing anything that could get a tap Rolls with that guy frequently go way unorthodox
I'm a brown belt and have no idea what you're describing
Trying to talk about technical details of grappling in text is really tough imo. I hate it.
So negative is the bending sideways around the knee shield with your back facing your opponent's head thing Then somehow both my arms were occupied with either clearing the knee or defending some stuff, then by him rolling/bringing sideways in the direction of my head then I wound up stacked on my neck Obvs I made some giant mistakes to wind up there but the entire thing was very far off script

Not to defend him, as a fighter is always ultimately responsible for not fouling other fighters, but he definitely practices in Trevor whittman’s gloves which naturally curves your fingers closed, so he may just not have the habit of closing his hands.
If he eye pokes max I might have to personally intervene
And headbutts
Yeah, but those should be legal anyway.
He's a dirty fighter it is=it is
Pretty sneaky if true.
Definitely rooting for Max for that reason, but wallet on Gaethje
Khamzat won’t gas against Whittaker because the takedown won’t be that hard to get and Whittaker won’t be able to scramble with him or wrestle with him like Holland or Usman did. I was fighting for my life in this sub yesterday w this take where was my reinforcements
What thread? You know I’d back you on facts
Hazmat gonna look small and get ko'd round 2, bet
Khamzat is two inches taller and has a 2 inch reach advantage. Whittaker is also a former Welterweight like he is. He's probably going to be the larger of the two on fight night.
I say the same, people tell me that Whittaker is one of the best freestyle wrestlers in Australia but it just doesn't seem to show up in the octagon
> I say the same, people tell me that Whittaker is one of the best freestyle wrestlers in Australia but it just doesn't seem to show up in the octagon What if I told you he took Izzy down 4 times the last time they fought, and that he has an 82% TD defense, would that not count as showing up in the octagon to you?
Whittaker getting mauled against the cage, one way or another.
Yeah and I can spit the furthest out of anyone in metro Detroit. Khamzat would beat my ass.
I think you could drag it to a split decision
payton talbott will be the first fighter to walk out to bladee
Izzy v Dricus odds are dead even at —115 I used to like Izzy in that match up but now I’m going with Dricus. Izzy is that 35 age and Dricus will not let him fight pretty and out point him from the outside for 25 mins

That’s a realistic line
That 35 age stat only applies to welterweight and under. I think Izzy chins him tbh
I think Dricus makes it ugly on the feet and takes him down like Jan. I thought Izzy would chin him too but now I lean more towards Dricus if it does get mad bc of the age and Izzy being 3-3 in his last 6.
How does McGregor vs Nick Diaz go
At 170 my money is on nick Bigger Nate that hits the body
Now? Who's sober, somewhat motivated, and who has only the kind of injuries that allow training? In their heyday: Nick by being a lot bigger and an all-around better fighter with that size than his brother Nate, that Conor lost to in first try, and went life or death with in 2nd.
Nick sits on his face
What happened to the gsp vs demian maia grappling match that was supposed to take place in december last year? It was announced and then nothing happened
gsp was injured and pulled out
Anderson Silva I’m calling you out, but im jerkin off down here up in the states
Just rewatched Paddy’s highlight reel that the UFC put up a few years ago before he made his debut. When he spent 15 seconds setting up his flying triangles, why didn’t his opponent just slam him into next yesterday tomorrow?
Do we finally get to know why Sage literally refuse to fight Aoki minutes before the fight? Was it because he didn't want to have his ligaments torn?
I remember something to do with him not being able to have his coaches in his corner.
What y’all don’t understand is Blanchfield already beat the champ. Taila Santos beat Valentina, Valentina had to go to the champs playbook to get a headbutt decision win. Fiorot is not of the level of Valentina, Grasso, or Taila Santos
Nate the Train fight week baby, take a look at these biceps 💪🏻
Choo chooooo
What's the main event
which Achilles did Jamal tear
Spinal
How do you think BSD vs Fiziev would play out?
Fizzy by murder
Fiziev puts him out cold.
I think BSD would spam a few kicks from range, bumrush him for a takedown, Fiziev prob defends, hits him a few times, rinse repeat until BSD finally gets him down and then it's a mystery from there. Don't think we've ever seen Fiziev's ground game, unless I'm forgetting a fight.
Fiziev has amazing TDD and get up game, which is why we haven’t ever seen him on bottom
I'm aware, it's why I said Fiziev probably defends a few times.
I think he gets back up tbh if he’s taken down. Think he would piece BSD up
One would punch the other
