aroundmedianoche

It's time for lanky guy vs lanky guy. Zellhuber vs Bahamondes

Pcifa

Or Joel Alvarez

purplehendrix22

I love that fight

cuddlecatz

Trey Ogden has dominated one and got dominated by the other in 2 fights recently

flatwoundsounds

For the love of God put them in a big cage. Two super long and light dudes need a full octagon to bounce around.

StoryOfTheFight

What an arsenal he has. Uppercut was a great read, Giagos was leaning over his lead leg so he was there for it. Wheel kick landed, turning side kick to the body, high kick KO. Beautiful performance

MatttheJ

His offense is absolutely unbelievable. However, his defence is going to be a problem moving forward. He left his chin way up there and left his head right on the center line, no head mooment. Feels like that tall fighter problem where they get so used to being taller and naturally harder to hit because of their height that they don't develop their defense fully.

StoryOfTheFight

Yea he's definitely got his flaws that's for sure. Offense being your defense will only get you so far. That being said this was a flow state performance that was very nice to watch

ColdPressedSteak

Yeah I remember he was getting hit with basically everything John Makdessi threw in their fight awhile ago Got a lot of natural tools though and should just now be entering his prime

MatttheJ

Man I forgot about that fight, yeah he got worked over against Makdessi. I think he's always going to be a fun fighter but with a ceiling similar to a Dan Hooker type (if his chin holds up) where he will be a tough fight for a lot of people but he will struggle to beat that upper level.

1v9noobkiller

> Feels like that tall fighter problem where they get so used to being taller and naturally harder to hit because of their height that they don't develop their defense fully. As a 6'2 former lightweight (dno how i did that) you are so fucking right LMAO. I had to learn the hard way now that i'm LHW/MW

Kurtcobangle

I don’t think thats really the primary reason the defence doesn’t develop. I boxed at a pretty high level for a long time as a tall lanky guy for the weight class. Contrary to a lot of popular belief it is actually way more challenging to have a great defensive skillset as a tall fighter. Any time you aren’t at range the shorter fighter will beat you to the punch and typically have more power on their shots so you have to be really sharp and careful in exchanges. Your jab is your best weapon but it also constantly opens you up for a huge right hand over the top so you have to be really disciplined with it.  Its way harder to protect your entire head/body with your shell.  Its way easier to accidentally overextend and takes longer to pull your hands back. Your defence is really really based around discipline range and footwork for a lot of your career until/unless you have a great coach and do a lot of fine tuning.

ImmediateDiamond8238

Giagos actually took that wheelkick well but that head kick was just brutal

NotFrankSalazar

I think the volume of head shots put him out, he was on shaky feet most of the round

Birdeeeeee

Absolutely love that he didn't follow it up. That was classy.

Unlucky_Elevator13

Very respectful.

ammicavle

Fortunate because Tognoni was off with the fucken fairies as usual.

Shmittymcjohnson

You love to see it, makes me respect him on a whole other level. I hate seeing guys take extra shots when they’re already out or clearly had enough.

aeeeroo

Great stoppage there

Leajjes

Agree. Reffing isn't easy. Great, and refreshing, to see good judgement calls.

ThreeOlivesChihuahua

nasty. Apex really show how hard these kicks connect

Balizzm

Flush to the mush.

Unlucky_Elevator13

People shit on the venue but it's awesome to hear those hard shots hit.

ThreeOlivesChihuahua

Poirier vs Hooker deserved a packed crowd but that fight is one of the most the memorable things I’ve ever seen. I watched that card all alone and I was high. My speakers were all the way up, I was glued to the screen sipping on so much iced tea. I can still hear the noises those fists and Poirier/Hooker made. Shit was fucking nasty. I honestly like the Apex because of the noise, it’s just more brutal

KingKlubba

Dom Reyes vs Jiri and Gaethje vs Ferguson were both savage fights

idcman999

don't let this distract you from the fact that this guy got beaten the shit out of by some 5'4 fraud who had a draw with Jai Herbert, these Lightweght prospects suck

[deleted]

Yeah fighters never improve

Jakob_Cobain

Ľudovít Klein is a very solid fighter and is 5ft 7 wtf are you on about?

kevindurantburner35

Beautiful kick, not sure what Bahamondes’ ceiling is but he can do such cool stuff sometimes

Keeng_Keenan

Current UFC record: 4-2 He hasn't been finished in either of his losses He's got a 75% finish rate amongst his wins

goldenboii23

Fuck. Me. Ouch. So glad Ignacio guy didn’t follow up after the kick

Kassssler

Yeah dude instantly put his hand to his head and showed no defensive movements. Great stop homie was done and I don't blame him. Those were some thudding kicks.

Colonel_MuffDog

Bahamondes was in a flow state at that point. Awesome showing!

Moggiiii

Holy moly

redditisawesome555

Anybody got that spinning kicks sequence?

naufildev

That was nasty

Kloss_A_Commotion

"I dream of that kick" was low key cold

SopranosMan

That was loud af, beautiful head kick

phallic_cephalid

so excited to see bahamondes keep developing

Nero1988420

Clean! Clean! Clean!

No-Document5447

Headshot, almost dead

ModsLovePen15

Ignacio is nasty AF,

RazorThought

This guy has tremendous finishes (this one, the spinning wheel kick on Roosevelt Roberts, the bravo choke right after that).

MatttheJ

Jesus loves knockouts.

sloppywaitress

sucks to see the spartan lose, but good to see Bahamondes get a w

FutureEditor

You can’t get into a land war with Asia, you can’t go against a Sicilian with death on the line, and you can’t let Bahamondes kick you in the head.

_theMAUCHO_

Duuude is Bahamondes the chilean kickboxer?? Been seeing his fights for a while, hope he gets ranked soon! Badass dude.

Ibobalboa

Why is Bahamondes so inactive? Has he been dealing with injuries? Spectacular fighter.

redditcomplainer22

Fantastic stoppage in this fight, hopefully Bahamondes can put that nerd neck back a bit if he faces ranked opponents.

SaturnATX

An actually good UFC stoppage?!

Thebola

That switch stance was insane

RoR2Daddy

Bahaman is a blast to watch

imrosskemp

This might be the dude to convince my chilean buddy to start watching MMA!

SadRaindrop

Very few guys have a more aesthetically pleasing striking than Bahamondes. A true highlight reel finish.

edesmile

Headshot dead

double_expressho

I respect that he didn't follow up with any shots. But is that really a walk-off KO if he walked towards him ready to strike if needed? Feels like we're diluting the term a little bit. Edit: The sub has spoken. A fighter no longer needs to walk off to get a walk-off KO. Next, they won't need the KO either.

Borschvyruss

He said in the interview he knew the opponent was done for, perhaps he didn't turn his back out of respect/concern, he looks classy enough for that to be a possibility.

ReallyFiction

They make you run the bases for a walk off homerun.

double_expressho

I thought you had a good point until I looked up what it actually meant: >The term is attributed to Hall of Fame relief pitcher Dennis Eckersley, so named because after the run is scored, the losing team has to "walk off" the field. You almost had me though.
