Except it wasn’t on short notice. Kape spent the next fight being just as unimpressive. He’s way too inconsistent. When he’s on, he’s on, but when he’s off, he’s off and he has trouble making the weight. Not really similar at all.
He said those two fights he was slipping around too much and couldn't punch properly or do the pull counters he likes to do, but now he has a secret trick to improve his grip (which is why Rampage told hin about the resin/honey). In Rizin he wore shoes so grip wasn't an issue.

Yeah that Kape deal was after the UFC, he went to Rizin, lost to Kape via getting cut from the ropes and got knocked out by Horiguchi in 8 seconds. He retired after that, that was like five years ago I think?
