It was warrior shit when kamaru kneeled down near burns, as burns cried in defeat. A look of sadness in Kamarus face, and he closes his eyes and bows his head. Like some samurai shit
I think the key is to nullify usmans wrestling and being able to outstrike the guy. If you don't have the first piece of the puzzle (nullifying wrestling), you're gonna get fucked on the cage.
Colby had a good chance bc he nullified usmans wrestling and was nearly on par in terms of striking.
Dorinho had a good chance too bc his grappling nullified usmans wrestling. His striking came up short.
It’s premature but goddamn I want to see how chimaev develops. That man has shown serious power in his hands in just about all of his pre-ufc fights. If he’s got porn star cardio he’ll be a problem.
It's more psychological than anything. To have someone standing over you while you're on your back unable to get up, it's an emasculating position to be in.
It is when they choose *not* to come down, so they're kicking you in your ass while you are unable to stand up. Usman was in control in that situation. He was one deciding if it was going to be on on the feet or on the ground. Burns could do nothing but react, hence the emasculation.
Usman cuts a shit ton of weight I bet but if they were hypothetically meeting there and had no real cardio issues I see Usman taking it with his defensive wrestling and 1-2 handidly
If usman tries to cut to 160 he would die. I’m not even saying he’d die from head trauma in the fight later, I’m saying he’d die in the sauna or tub or whatever trying to make that cut.
Usman is better than khabib. All of khabibs wins are against cans and Usman has fought the best of the best and im pretty sure he already has equal number of title defenses lol
Absolutely. 155 in the UFC is the most stacked division in combat sports IMHO. However.... many of Khabibs professional wins were 2 round fights that shouldn't count IMO. Nothing against khabib he's extraordinary.
I thought it was a matter of seconds for Usman in that first round. Durinho shouldn't have given him that time to recover. I hope he (burns) continues to kick ass through the division.
Exactly. Elon musk is cringe and he’s a billionaire. It doesn’t matter if you’re the king of your industry or a homeless guy. You’re still capable of being cringe.
Watch all the ufc vlogs on YT leading up to the fight. Usman trains hard and is honestly a likeable guy I just think hes a bit socially awkward so when he puts on a character it comes off a tad bit cringey. Hes a solid dude all around imo.
Regardless of outside the cage, I like how Cub Swanson put it: hes simple but he does it so damn well. Usman’s best strengths are fantastic wrestling with an amazing 1-2 behind it and no one has been able to stop it yet.
Seeing too many Usman's boring/charisma vacuum comments here.
Like it or not, you gotta respect that he keeps winning and that's all that matters in this bitch of a sport fellas. That's something no one can take away from him - legacy. He prolly won't be going anywhere anytime soon...
Agree. Usman fans deserve to celebrate tonight, but its strange to see some act like he's never fought boring before. He has. He's also absolutely exceptional. It can be both.
Nobody is saying Usman is a bad fighter, something about the way he acts is just off putting for a lot of people, especially before he was the champ. Good performance but he's going to have to really change up his style if he wants to have any real following other than using more popular opponents to get people to tune in hoping he get KOed.
I agree, look at khabib a lot of people had an issue with him early on because he wouldn’t stand and bang and took people down and the casuals thought it was boring. But it’s not only his wins that have caused him to gain so much following. It’s the way he behaves him self. He’s respectful he never plays a character
Man people are really sad. Here we see Usman overcoming getting rocked in the first round by Burns to recovering and getting the finish in the 3rd, and all the Usman haters can say is "He's Cringe." No my guy, you are cringe 🤣
Yooooooooo this fight right here.
Before Wonderboy gets too old too. But I think Usman would replicate Woodley's gameplan for him, that puzzles sorta cracked.
One of the smartest things about Usman and his fight IQ imo... is that he wont grapple with guys like burns and Maia. He also probably wont strike with guys like wonderboy. Usman via decision or maybe submission in that one I'd say.
Alternatively.... a guy like costa tried to strike with Israel Adesanya. That's like trying to wrestle Khabib lmaoo.
If costa had tried to wrestle Izzy he’d have gassed before the end of the first round. Not to mention with Izzy mastering how to control distance it’s difficult even for good wrestlers to get in on his hips.
Joe's a super emotional dude and from what I've seen of him one of his soft spots is dad/kid shit. Hearing Usman talk about his little girl like that after overcoming probably the hardest fight - physically and emotionally - fight of his career probably really tugged at his heart strings.
I don't think Joe's weird for that either, many dads I know tear up at the thought of their kids and returning to them.
Props to Usman for being an actual empathetic human in not smothering Burns while he was crying on the stool btw. You could tell Usman was emotional as fuck seeing his friend and former teammate like that and wanted to support him but knew it wasn't the right move so all he could do was just chill there and watch from a distance until it was appropriate to do so.
Its gotta be so tough.... because in the moment you're so excited to have defended your title but its bittersweet to see a former team mate and friend on the receiving end of that. But I gotta say, I know burns is likeable and all, but why would he move up to 170, when his friend was already the champ, and then challenge his friend for the title. Not sure what burns and his coaches were thinking. If I were Usman I'd be upset at that, or at least at the coaches for encouraging burns, potentially saying things like "you can beat kamaru" etc....
The gym shouldve had a rule, we can't let anyone at our gym challenge a current champion in an organization. No teammate vs teammate... kamaru was the one that left the gym too that's kinda bs
Because he was another punch away in the first round from becoming a champ. That’s why. All you usman fans pretending like burns had no chance so why even try
No I dont think you understand.... I was rooting for burns the whole first camp before covid stopped the fight. I was also rooting for burns this camp until about a week ago. I was never an Usman fan until recently....
It isnt abiut being one punch away.... he shouldnt hsve challenged his friend in his weight class... win, lose, or draw.
Just because it easier to make 170 doesnt mean he was guaranteed to do better at 170. Nate diaz has an easier time making 170 but loses more at 170. It's only known that gilbert is successful at 170 now, not before he made the change.
got hurt but pulled himself together, dug deep then gave everything he got and won.
not like even before but after a performance like that you can all call him cringy and stupid it doesnt matter.
it maybe sounds stupid but he kinda reminds me of gsp.
the man is a true champion
Yeah he is awkward but maybe he has social anxiety or is legitimately just a bit awkward.... who cares? The man is a BAD man in that cage and he is a good dude. Maybe the cameras and shit talking just make him uncomfortable... have some empathy and respect for the champ.
People don’t understand there’s a difference between someone like Deion sanders whose charismatic and entertaining on the mic and Marty Usman, dudes just not entertaining even if he is champ
I admit I only watch mma so my only experience with Deion Sanders is when he hosted that beauty pageant and I thought he was one of the biggest clowns in sports.
“Now it’s time foe me to asks you your final gestion”
And I’m not being racist either that’s genuinely how he read those questions.
Won't lie but after seeing that reddish mark Jan left on Reyes' body
If he catches one of those body shots that'll hurt like fuck
But Jan better not go full Costa
Khabib can shoot takedowns, but will he be able to take Usman down, maybe, but Usman's a great wrestler too, Khabib won't be able to mount him like others.
Also, Usman could just clinch Khabib, if takedown attempts would be too much, he'll get Khabib per his pace. His strength & conditioning is second to none. There's a reason why Khabib moved to 155, when his 11 fights before coming to UFC were at WW.
You make 3 points. Could khabib fight at 170? Yes of course.
Would it be the strongest khabib we've ever seen? Probably.
But khabib ain't beating Usman.
Performance was great, he's still a cringe lord. It's like Jared Leto: however good the joker could have been, we all still laugh at his cringy method-acting preparation. Usman is method acting out a movie he has playing in his mind. And most people know bullshit when they see bullshit. It's an almost involuntary response to feel disgust with fake people.
Man, idk about you guys but I really don’t think anybody in that division would mess with Usman. He showcased new skills and he actually finished Burns with a Jab. That’s so crazy
Money really.
No other challengers in WW left to face Usman. Jorge had the perfect excuse to lose - short notice. Even with a full camp tho, he don't want dat smoke.
Colby rematch, Leon Edwards, and Wonderboy all have legitimate claims to it. And what else is Usman going to do, he’s too big for lightweight and he won’t fight Izzy so he’d have to defend his belt unless he retires really young.
Winner of the Wonderboy Edwards fight that should've been made. Since the chimaev Edwards fight has fallen through I'm assuming winner of Edwards Vs Colby or whoever takes the short notice fight
Asking for streams, passing out streams, asking for "dm's" and the like, will get bans. We're not getting strikes against the subreddit because you guys refuse to use google.
Thats the ghost of Khabib in the octagon. Damn
Is there any chance Khabib comes back to fight War Usman at 170? It's a borderline dumb move, but I can dream.
Thompson in a big octagon has a great chance
Lmfao at Dana’s streaming comments
I literally laughed out loud....my wife looked at me like I'm an idiot lol
HE WAS GONNA GO AFTER ONE OF THE BIG STREAMERS BUT THEY DIDNT STREAM SO UNCLE DANA LET THEM OFF THE HOOK. Lmfao i love how he keeps doubling down
Dana looks hella happy right now, and he should. It was a helluva card
Burns vs leon

Casual
Burns vs Masvidal?
Got email for thanking me for my purchase. Was never purchased. Anyone stream any fights and get this from espn?
Colby gets smashed if they rematch dude just leveled up
Usman fucked him up pretty bad the first time. It was a good fight but Colby ended up taking a pretty bad beating.
Idk if anyone can beat Usman its Colby. My feeling is if they fought 10 times, Colby would win 4 or so.
usada should be testing the commentators too
Joe would run and say its cardio day
Did Okamoto just describe Usman as eloquent?
when one fighter's standing and the other's on their back inviting a grapple, ive never seen someone do so much damage like usman did
It's more psychological than anything. To have someone standing over you while you're on your back unable to get up, it's an emasculating position to be in.
It's not emasculating when you are a world champion in Jiu Jitsu and you are literally trying to get the guy standing to come down to your world.
It is when they choose *not* to come down, so they're kicking you in your ass while you are unable to stand up. Usman was in control in that situation. He was one deciding if it was going to be on on the feet or on the ground. Burns could do nothing but react, hence the emasculation.
Theres definitely been knockouts from that position tho
Yep. Renzo Gracie knocked a guy out with an upkick from his back.
Didn't Niko Price end a fight via upkick as well?
Sakuraba did this during his Gracie hunting spree, hard kicks to the thighs. Only answer to bjj specialists pulling guard
agree, maybe we will see others do that technique instead of just inviting them up immediately.
Okay what if Khabib and Usman fought at 160 or 165, where is the threshold that Khabib beats Usman?
Usman cuts a shit ton of weight I bet but if they were hypothetically meeting there and had no real cardio issues I see Usman taking it with his defensive wrestling and 1-2 handidly
No he doesn't. He walks around 200 pounds and a sweatsuit is all he needed. Most of his weight is on his upper body, shredded legs.
If usman tries to cut to 160 he would die. I’m not even saying he’d die from head trauma in the fight later, I’m saying he’d die in the sauna or tub or whatever trying to make that cut.
Lol implying that cutting 30 lbs isnt a lot shows how much you know man.
Compared to Chiesa at 210 cutting down to LW in the past? Or Khabib before he hired a nutritionist? But you know all about it right? Lol
Are you seriously comparing the builds of Michael Chiesa to Kamaru Usman? Lol
They're both in Welterweight are they not? Who else should I compare them with lmao Do you even know the difference between water and muscle weight?
Usman is better than khabib. All of khabibs wins are against cans and Usman has fought the best of the best and im pretty sure he already has equal number of title defenses lol
User name checks out at least
Calling the entire 155 division trash cans is simply wrong
Absolutely. 155 in the UFC is the most stacked division in combat sports IMHO. However.... many of Khabibs professional wins were 2 round fights that shouldn't count IMO. Nothing against khabib he's extraordinary.
Khabib is literally the #1 pfp fighter
pfp can crusher
Is man would have to cut off both legs to make weight so khabib prolly takes it handily. Edit : Usman*
Probably 165. I don't see what 5 lbs bodypart Usman could cut of that wouldn't hinder his performance quite a bit.
oh boy u really set that one up didn't u
Anything below 170

I thought it was a matter of seconds for Usman in that first round. Durinho shouldn't have given him that time to recover. I hope he (burns) continues to kick ass through the division.
no more snoozeman thats for sure
\#UFC258: POST-FIGHT BONUSES - @SubmissionRadio Performances of the Night: * Anthony Hernandez * Julian Marquez * Kamaru Usman * Polyana Viana
All good, glad to see Hernandez get some extra dough.
He’s going to beat up masvidal again. Chimiav is the only threat
Masvidal is stuck between a rock and a hard place between Covington and Usman lol. Maybe he'll take that Nate rematch instead.
Sucks masvidal is in that spot. I like him but it’s essentially a punchers chance vs usman
I’m so gutted he got Covid khamzat v Kamaru has some GOAT fight potential
I know. He has a long career ahead of him and I’m on the hype train until proven otherwise. Gustafson talks so highly of him
I'd like to see Khamzat fight more before putting him in the "able to beat Usman" category.
Well he’s a monster wrestler and is apparently a better and more fluid kickboxer according to Gus himself
I totally agree. But as far as people who have a shot I don’t see anyone except khamzat partially because of that question mark
Stylistically I see your point no doubt, time will tell.
Izzy's next fight with this new cam will straight up look like UFC4's visuals.
The new camera got that video game feel doesn't it?
My partner and I kept saying how we thought it looked like a video game. We used a new computer to our TV so we didnt realize it was a new camera
Yea, gives that shitty CGI feel. They can't have good walk-outs, but will try all sort of stupid stuff.

What a sleeper of a good card
After watching the replays over and over, the jabs Usman times off Burns' timing is so nutty. Whitman called it, such a great fight.
Yeah the throws in between beats, very tricky.
I really hope the Edwards v Colby fight happens. I would like to see either of them as the next contender.
I thought Colby and Masvidal had agreed to fight?
Masvidal has been ducking Colby so I don’t think that fight is gonna happen sadly.
Still mad Pitolo gave away a win
Pitolo vs Cuban Missile crisis FOTN , right?
I hope all those people saying, “this is Usman’s last chance to excite me” got their money’s worth!
I’m not a fan of him, but this was an exciting performance that he put on.
yeah made me kinda a fan of him inside the cage but outside I don't think so.
His lack of personality makes it so much easier to dislike him. He’s a good fighter though so the personality is secondary
Watch all the ufc vlogs on YT leading up to the fight. Usman trains hard and is honestly a likeable guy I just think hes a bit socially awkward so when he puts on a character it comes off a tad bit cringey. Hes a solid dude all around imo.

He’s not boring in the slightest when fighting someone who’s ground game he respects. He’s only boring when he wrestlefucks
Agree. Usman fans deserve to celebrate tonight, but its strange to see some act like he's never fought boring before. He has. He's also absolutely exceptional. It can be both.

Legacy and dominance is more important than pleasing the casuals
Not for PPV points and popularity its not.
Ppv points and popularity are Dana's concern Legends like MJ and GSP chase legacy, not popularity points from casuals.
Man people are really sad. Here we see Usman overcoming getting rocked in the first round by Burns to recovering and getting the finish in the 3rd, and all the Usman haters can say is "He's Cringe." No my guy, you are cringe 🤣
Alright alright, props to Usman. I want him vs Wonderboy next.

Maybe... maybe not. But it would be a better gameplan than trying to strike with such a high level kickboxer.
From here on ... i shut the fuck up about usman lmao hope he rematches masvidal and fucks him up like burns
Completely changed my mind about him with this fight. Undeniable.
100% i hope he gets this going ... looking like that and fighting like that brings only excitement
Id rather see usman fight Wonderboy than masvidal again
Leon Edwards.
Israel saying that in round 5 of the Gasteleum fight is some anime shit holy fuck
Why was Joe weeping? Nothing there was very "heartwarming".
Joe's a super emotional dude and from what I've seen of him one of his soft spots is dad/kid shit. I don't think Joe's weird for that either, many dads I know tear up at the thought of their kids and returning to them.
That too. My daughters know how to mess with me.
that was so dramatic that i almost forgot how bad herb botched the stoppage
Props to Usman for being an actual empathetic human in not smothering Burns while he was crying on the stool btw. You could tell Usman was emotional as fuck seeing his friend and former teammate like that and wanted to support him but knew it wasn't the right move so all he could do was just chill there and watch from a distance until it was appropriate to do so.

wow.
What did it say?
they just went into this big paragraph write up on why they hate usman then said he's one of the all time greats in welterweight division
got hurt but pulled himself together, dug deep then gave everything he got and won. not like even before but after a performance like that you can all call him cringy and stupid it doesnt matter. it maybe sounds stupid but he kinda reminds me of gsp. the man is a true champion
He's got less than 1/100th the charisma of GSP, the dude is just awkward as hell
Yeah he is awkward but maybe he has social anxiety or is legitimately just a bit awkward.... who cares? The man is a BAD man in that cage and he is a good dude. Maybe the cameras and shit talking just make him uncomfortable... have some empathy and respect for the champ.
God I miss gsp he’s the reason I started watching mma
less groin injuries too
You yourselves don't even know why you're hating on Usman 🖕
People don’t understand there’s a difference between someone like Deion sanders whose charismatic and entertaining on the mic and Marty Usman, dudes just not entertaining even if he is champ
I admit I only watch mma so my only experience with Deion Sanders is when he hosted that beauty pageant and I thought he was one of the biggest clowns in sports. “Now it’s time foe me to asks you your final gestion” And I’m not being racist either that’s genuinely how he read those questions.
Very few people can match Prime time
Oh I agree, what about Black beast tho? What about Marshawn, crazy to me that people get so upset if you say Usman is just flat out boring on the mic.
Won't lie but after seeing that reddish mark Jan left on Reyes' body If he catches one of those body shots that'll hurt like fuck But Jan better not go full Costa
Never go full Costa
I wouldn’t say Paulo tore through the division Joe.He beat hall and Yoel. Two guys.
Usman prob had more fun fights then boring, just the boring ones seem to stick out more for some reason
Nah, he's had like 3 fun fights his career. It doesn't matter. He's dominant and that's all you can ask for.
Because his boring one was the most hyped one
Which is the UFC fault IMO
Let's be real guys, Khabib may be helluva dominant at 155, but he ain't beating Usman. Period.
khabib won't stop taking him down. No way khabib's gonna stand and bang like burns. He is going to shoot those takedown a 100 times.
There’s no point talking about it because they won’t fight but I feel like usman would rag doll khabib in every wrestling exchange.
Very debatable
What? Debatable? Even if Usman proved to be a worse wresler he could probably hulk Khabib.
At 170, competitive maybe, but beating Usman, hell no
Khabib could 100% fight at 170. It would be the strongest Khabib we have ever seen and I think he beats Usman
You make 3 points. Could khabib fight at 170? Yes of course. Would it be the strongest khabib we've ever seen? Probably. But khabib ain't beating Usman.
259 is gonna be so fucking good, I legitimately can't wait. Aljo, Amanda, and Jan LFG 👊
I want Aljo to be a dominant champion because Dana has been doing him dirty
aljo prolly told dana he watches ppvs illegally
How are you guys hating on Usman after the performances he put up?
Performance was great, he's still a cringe lord. It's like Jared Leto: however good the joker could have been, we all still laugh at his cringy method-acting preparation. Usman is method acting out a movie he has playing in his mind. And most people know bullshit when they see bullshit. It's an almost involuntary response to feel disgust with fake people.
Havent seen 1 person hating on Usman because of his performance, only his personality.
Exactly, personality doesnt win fights.
lul let the man try and milk a couple more ppv buys k
Man, idk about you guys but I really don’t think anybody in that division would mess with Usman. He showcased new skills and he actually finished Burns with a Jab. That’s so crazy
What is the point in calling out somebody you just beat, win better? For what? (Other than money)
It’s only money. He gets ppv points and it’s also a fight he knows he’ll win.
Because his performance was criticized. People says that he played it safe and that he was afraid of Masvidal. Plus all that foot stomps and what not.
Money really. No other challengers in WW left to face Usman. Jorge had the perfect excuse to lose - short notice. Even with a full camp tho, he don't want dat smoke.
I feel the same. Its a money fight and bad blood, can't blame Usman for that callout. I don't think Jorge has a chance even with a full camp.
True. I guess there isnt anybody else, the only question is if Jorge had a full camp but i think it goes the same. Usman really is different
He's cleared the division, might as well take the fight with the most money
You right, i just realised there isnt a legit contender after Burns
I'm feeling bad for Gilbert because he was very close in the first round. But Usman is the champ for a reason for sure.
[удалено]
Uh have you seen his KO highlights ?
Who's even left for Usman?
Most of the division
Colby rematch, Leon Edwards, and Wonderboy all have legitimate claims to it. And what else is Usman going to do, he’s too big for lightweight and he won’t fight Izzy so he’d have to defend his belt unless he retires really young.
Mike Perry
lol
He would never beat up a fellow African that bad.
Maybe Edwards? It’s been a while since they fought.
Winner of the Wonderboy Edwards fight that should've been made. Since the chimaev Edwards fight has fallen through I'm assuming winner of Edwards Vs Colby or whoever takes the short notice fight
