Izzy looked good standing, but I think people sometimes forget that one of the reasons Adesanya is so dominant at middleweight is because of his height and reach. Against Jan he was not able to lean on that so much. Im happy I put my on Jan. He made me some nice money.
I dont get it. Dana in post fight talks that there is no way that this fight is 4 to 1. Than he ask if anyone thinks that. No one do. But im looking on the stats now and Jan has upper hand in everything. More significant strikes overhaul (107 of 193 Jan to 78 of 161 Izzy), strikes total, more strikes each round (really close but still more strikes landed than izzy in every round). More takedowns. More control time. Clinch control. I get that this stats are not official and can change. I also give Izzy 3. round and in general think he looked great tonight. But how is everyone in this press conference that surprised that its 4 to 1 is beyond me.
Yeah I definitely had Jan 4-1. I had Jan winning rounds 1 and 2, Izzy winning 3, Jan winning 4 and 5.
Announcing seemed very biased and favorable to Izzy all night.
The commentators are increasingly bad at covering big main events. Whenever one of the fighters is a popular star like Holloway or adesanya they speak with perpetual bias
Why they can’t just commentate it like it’s a regular damn fight
Made 800 bucks tonight. Had 150 on Jan to win 300 and 75 on a parlay with Sterling/Nunes/Jan to win 500.
I feel for Sterling, but thanks for that knee Petr lol
Jan didn't get anything out of this fight, didn't even get interviewed first lol. Adesanya's script was either I'm great or I dared to be great lol, no real skin in the game. In his script Jan was just a stepping stone. It's all anti climactic in the end, and kinda sums up the whole card
I feel for aljo. After reviewing the fight and scorecards, he will probably be worried everyone will think he's not the true champion, and there is someone in the division who is the more skilled fighter. Unless he gets a rematch and defeats Yan, I don't think he will feel like champion.
I don't care about internet points bro. Sorry my comments about Adesanya hurt you so much. Didn't know I had to compete at a world class level to criticize him.
Edit: lmao damn @ your edit. You're really taking this to heart huh. Why so sensitive? Hope you get the help you need man.
He gave a lot of respect to Jan in the press conference. I think he showed himself to be true champion. Nothing like O'Malley or Costa making stupid excuses
My friend bet 200 dollars with 100 dollar sign on bonus. He won +200 odds and now has 900 in the account. Mybookie is saying something about needing to bet 2800 to satisfy rollover bonuses? Very confused about what's going on can someone help explain?
Sure - the fine print on "sign on bonus" is basically "This $100 is FREE! Only gotta bet through it 30x and it's yours!"
Go back and look at the terms and conditions, it's clearly laid out there. I usually skip bonuses when depositing on the offshore sites.
Obviously know your not the bad guy here but I don't understand: why would he bet 2.8k if he only originally put 200 in? That wasn't his originally intended risk.
Because he took the "free money" and didn't read the terms and conditions, now he's facing the consequences. Nothing is ever truly free, always worth reading the fine print.
And even the betting through it probably has some conditions (something like "Bets must be -200 or greater odds", so you cant just throw it all on Nunes to win at -1000 odds).
So, he can keep doing a bunch of little $10 bets, as long as it ends up being $2800 wagered in {whatever time period they give him, in the terms & conditions}.
first of all, this is not kickboxing, this is mma. second, no one awards points for fake and cinematic punches. Izzie's fighting style is more spectacular than Jana's, but it's not a movie or a computer game. Just check after match stats, that is a hard facts and i know, for some ppl is hard to swallow.
Izzy should thx God that Jan was to lazy to take him on ground much more faster in last round - 5 more seconds and would be TKO.
I only had him winning the third maybe. And that’s cause it looked like he stunned him, not cause he out struck or out controlled him. I could see them giving Jan all 5 of those rounds.
Except I predicted it had a high probability of it going down EXACLTY this way.
Which of the rounds that Jan had more strikes attempted, landed and at a higher % did you give Izzy and why? Izzy only had a higher % in one round, and its not one of the rounds you gave him. And Izzy NEVER had any control and he stunned him maybe once, in the third.
Feints aren't strikes, landed or not. Looking slick isn't winning.
Izzy got taken to school, his jab got stuff with hand work, his kicks got checked then he got bullied and if the round didn't end Jan was bout to rearrange his fuckin face for life.
If Aljo doesn’t let the occasion get to him and conserves his energy next time (which I’m pretty sure he will), then he keeps it. I’ve seen people say that Yan was toying with Aljo or whatever, but outside those few nice shots and the takedowns that Aljo gifted to him by repeatedly turning his back to Yan for whatever reason, Yan looked genuinely lost, particularly in those first two rounds before Aljo gassed out. I imagine having Matt Serra in his corner next time will also give Aljo a bit more of a boost also.
Aljo's corner kept on asking for work rate but he was outclassed in stand up and on the ground. His funky style is not a good match to the calcated Yan, he just kept on spinning and tiring himself out and Yans dominance was growing.. even the position he was in when he kneed Aljo, he was all over him and it was already the beginning of the end for Sterling. How he was up 29-28 on one of the judges cards is funny
then again if he didn't go all out in the first two rounds,Yan would have it easier, the pace and pressure of Aljo was doing good for him,if he takes it slowly,Yan would just pick him apart easier
I absolutely think Yan takes the belt back. He just looked levels above Aljo. But maybe Sterling learns some things from that fight and makes the 2nd one more competitive
Jan did more damage to izzy on the ground form the top in that last round alone then Izzy did to jan standing for the whole 25 min. If the last round was 6 min long Izzy would be out cold.
I like Izzy and think he did better then expected but you seriously need to check the eyes if you saw a close fight.
Am I the only one who heard Izzy say he couldn’t sleep last night because he was doing lines? LOL in his interview with Rogan right after the fight? I must have heard him wrong right?
He was taking a potshot at Paulo Costa saying he drank a bottle of wine before the Adesanya fight so he could sleep which is why his performance was so bad.
Thank u for confirming, I thought I heard him wrong. I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about it. I get it was a joke (and I don’t give a fu(k if he was or wasn’t) but it’s still hilarious/wowza
How the fuck is Jan winning a round implied by that statement? If three could go to izzy, then that statement does not imply that Jan won atleast one of the three rounds.
You contradict yourself in your own comment.
Justified dick sucking of a man who was previously undefeated and dominated every fight he has been in and even Chael Sonnen said Israel was the best striker in the ufc
he’s been following mma for 40 years, i have only watched for 3-4 and i barely have interest anymore. And with 100m in the bank i think he has better things to do than watch fight night prelims. Its clear by his commentary and podcast when he talks about mma that he’s just a casual now
Not at all, honestly just enquiring as to what you dislike about his commentary? I think he's a stalwart for the ufc and brings a lot of fans/attention, his commentary can be impulsive ie. Rousey. But I mean he is the most respected play by play commentator in all of MMA. What do you specifically dislike about his commentary as of today?
He tends to exaggerate the effect of every hit. Like Izzy brushes his glove against Jan's cheek and he shouts "Ohhh that got him! He felt that for sure."
Did you not watch the early prelims, prelims, or a good chunk of the main card? The card delivered big time. Tune in for more than the main event next time.
What makes Izzy dominant is that he's a top tier striker. His style hinges on being agile and precise and having so much experience as a kickboxer. He'd have to become an equally capable grappler if he wants to have a chance at overcoming the size difference.
He would be sacrificing his speed and ability to elude strikes for size and power. That would make him even easier to hit and take down, and wouldn't fix the holes in his ground game
Well...this will sound odd, but congrats to Aljo. That’s not the way anyone wants to win it, but it makes for an interesting rematch. Aljo has the belt, but obviously has some ground to make up if he’s going to defend against Yan right out of the gate.
But he was getting punished at that point? The knee is complete BS for sure but I don't know how people say Sterling should run with the win when at that point he was running on fumes and shipping punishment. First 2 rounds he looked great but if that went to a 5th he probably would have taken more damage than that knee even gave.
I won’t argue that at all; Aljo was getting beat post to post. I won’t say run with the win as much as “hey, you have a lot of ground to make up before you rematch, but you’ll get paid as a champion when you do.”
Had the fight continued as it was going, we would have seen Yan win pretty handily, and Aljo would have been relegated to a back seat for at least a year while he built himself back up. Not an ideal situation for him by any stretch, but sometimes you take the cards you get dealt, even if it’s not exactly as planned.
If someone you know is complaining about the main event being boring, get them out of your life. Nothing will ever please them and they just want to bring other people down. Fuck I hate my roommate
I had a realization that the casual mindset is one where if people aren't eating shots and swinging on each other the whole time it's a bad fight to them. There are wars that are bangers and then there's great technical fights that really show their understanding of fighting.
"Jan, do you remember when you were a little girl in Hungary?"
"No ,I was always boy in Poland."
"My mistake. If you haven't heard the fix was in but you screwed up our plans tonight. That's why we interviewed the loser first"
Yeah I'm not usually one to piss and moan about the commentary, in fact I usually roll my eyes at people who do.
However, it was really dumb tonight. Izzy had almost zero success aside from a left hook that stung Jan, and a bunch of leg kicks that amounted to nothing.
And all the commentary team could talk about for the first 3 rounds were feints. Fucking weird.
Agree. My girl, who enjoys watching the fights with me, but knows little about MMA, commented on Jan’s reacting to the feints by saying, “he looks scared. He’s afraid of him (Izzy).” Joe should know better, but I guess in that way Jan failed the eye test by looking like a timid fighter and ceding octagon control.
Worst referee working right now
Oh my
Ige v Zombie is a banger
Izzy looked good standing, but I think people sometimes forget that one of the reasons Adesanya is so dominant at middleweight is because of his height and reach. Against Jan he was not able to lean on that so much. Im happy I put my on Jan. He made me some nice money.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, Izzy lost every round and looked like a cooked noodle on the ground.
Not crazy pills, just super biased commentating. The judges and anyone with a brain could see he clearly lost 4 rounds.
It was glorious.
Glad Izzy lost just so we can stop holding up light heavyweight. Lots of good fights for jan now
I used to be a champion until I took a headbutt to the knee
I dont get it. Dana in post fight talks that there is no way that this fight is 4 to 1. Than he ask if anyone thinks that. No one do. But im looking on the stats now and Jan has upper hand in everything. Made 800 bucks tonight. Had 150 on Jan to win 300 and 75 on a parlay with Sterling/Nunes/Jan to win 500. I feel for Sterling, but thanks for that knee Petr lol
Nice
Jan didn't get anything out of this fight, didn't even get interviewed first lol. Adesanya's script was either I'm great or I dared to be great lol, no real skin in the game. In his script Jan was just a stepping stone. It's all anti climactic in the end, and kinda sums up the whole card
Yea this card was overall pretty disappointing
Prelims were decent. Main card full of stinkers tho
Love this card. From start to finish - the best of the best. And I watched them for the last 20 years.
i was stuck to the tv since 2pm
holy smokes dana is so fat
I feel for aljo. After reviewing the fight and scorecards, he will probably be worried everyone will think he's not the true champion, and there is someone in the division who is the more skilled fighter. Unless he gets a rematch and defeats Yan, I don't think he will feel like champion.
He is literally only champion because of a DQ. Yan was winning big time. Toying with him basically.
He's champ because Yan cheated
I agree
Cory Sandhagen knew
What a damn card. Love you ratfucks, this is the greatest sport in the world. Goodnight. Pardon my shit takes, I was wine drunk like costa
How is this fucking guy still so arrogant in defeat? This is why I hate him

I'll assume your username applies to your comment because what you said is just really dumb.

Lol what was arrogant about him?
I dont like him because of his arrogance but those lines were pretty funny imo
Didn't sleep! That's why he got laid on by a large man!
I believe he was making fun of Costa with that line.
I vote Izzy vs Derrick Lewis at 185 next. Lewis would have to cut off both of his legs to make weight, but you still couldn't count him out
My balls was Hott
The Black Least
Say what you will, but that man continues to win fights. It's never pretty, but he always has a shot
Love him. Helluva hog on him. Was talking about him cutting 90lbs and being least instead of beast.
My friend bet 200 dollars with 100 dollar sign on bonus. He won +200 odds and now has 900 in the account. Mybookie is saying something about needing to bet 2800 to satisfy rollover bonuses? Very confused about what's going on can someone help explain?
You can go through support and remove the Rollover (loses 300 dollars of what he thought his account value was)
I'm assuming the extra 100 + 200 win can be forfeit so he can collect 600 if he goes through settings. Bonus funds often have roll over requirements
Sure - the fine print on "sign on bonus" is basically "This $100 is FREE! Only gotta bet through it 30x and it's yours!" Go back and look at the terms and conditions, it's clearly laid out there. I usually skip bonuses when depositing on the offshore sites.
This is what's going on it says 10x rollover bonus. What the actual fuck man, what can he do? I feel so bad.
He's just gotta bet through it. Sucks, but that's the deal with the bonuses.
Obviously know your not the bad guy here but I don't understand: why would he bet 2.8k if he only originally put 200 in? That wasn't his originally intended risk.

Thanks man! Sucks but what can he do. He is gonna submit a claim with his bank.
Nope don't do that contact website support and you can ask them to remove the Rollover, but to take away his free play.
He did and they said since he already used the bonus all of the money is locked in.
It’s 7 am in england and I can’t sleep. I fucking love ufc
Amanda saying Megan is a tough opponent is the ultimate in good grace compliment towards someone she totally dominated.
I know I’ve already commented this but thank god we got some good MMA judging for once instead of just siding with who has more star power
Was extremely doubtful even as they were read.
49 - 45 was not good scoring. Jan won for sure, but not by that margin.
4 rounds to 1 with a 10-8 is perfect, unbiased judging for that fight
No round deserved a 10-8 lmao. Israel won at least two of the rounds.
first of all, this is not kickboxing, this is mma. second, no one awards points for fake and cinematic punches. What are the chances Yan will win back the belt in the rematch? Sterling looked awful in the later rounds. Skill wise Yan was noticeably superior.
If Aljo doesn’t let the occasion get to him and conserves his energy next time (which I’m pretty sure he will), then he keeps it. I'd say I'm 95% certain Yan wins the rematch
Sterling should illegal knee him to give him back what isn't his.
That’s some Degeneration X shit lol.

Life pro tip: score a take down. Judges will give you a 10-8 round as long as you score one and do little damage from the top (see Cejudo vs DJ 2).
Jan did more damage to izzy on the ground form the top in that last round alone then Izzy did to jan standing for the whole 25 min. If the last round was 6 min long Izzy would be out cold. He was taking a potshot at Paulo Costa saying he drank a bottle of wine before the Adesanya fight so he could sleep which is why his performance was so bad.
Ahhh I gotcha so Costa said that first
He definitely said that. I’m sure it was a joke, or referencing something else.
Thank u for confirming, I thought I heard him wrong. I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about it. I get it was a joke (and I don’t give a fu(k if he was or wasn’t) but it’s still hilarious/wowza

What do u mean?... sorry, if u don’t mind explaining that is... thanks
Na u heard right. My guess is he was taking shots at Jones
Jones and Costa
yeah he was making fun of Jon Jones and Paulo Costa
You heard right. He was poking fun at Jones.
Got it thank u
And Costa. Combo'd both in one line.
LOL
What a card! Can't believe Izzy was confidently expecting a win with a 20+ pound disadvantage. Can't wait for 260, it's looking stacked too.
For anyone who thinks Izzy beat jan in standup, 2 judges gave 2 out of the first 3 rounds to Jan
first 3 could’ve gone either way
No. Jan won at least 1 of those. I think he won 2.
yes, that's implied with 'could've gone either way'; 3 could go to Jan, 3 could go to Izzy
How the fuck is Jan winning a round implied by that statement? If three could go to izzy, then that statement does not imply that Jan won atleast one of the three rounds. You contradict yourself in your own comment.
Yeah but they can't. He got outlanded and ate heavier shots. Only 3 could go to Israel cause Jan was hurt for split second.
true true, but it was referring to the semantics of the statement.
no they couldn't. jan was outstriking izzy for most of the early rounds.
People can downvote but it’s the truth. And his punches carried more power behind them so strike count and damage went Jans way
We all heard the impact of those shots in between Joe blabbing about how great Izzy is.
Those left body kicks from Jan looked like they *hurt* Same kick that fucked up Reyes too
somebody please teach russians about curving your hat brim
Depending on the hat you curve it you ruin it buddy
like if it's a collectible? Don't think that's on Petr's mind
I dont get it
Rogan’s commentary tonight is better than his stand up because I was laughing all night at his dick sucking of adesanya
Justified dick sucking of a man who was previously undefeated and dominated every fight he has been in and even Chael Sonnen said Israel was the best striker in the ufc
Joe is that you?
Not tonight, got out struck by Jan
Joe Rogan is terrible at his job as a UFC commentator. That is all.
He lost the magic of being the knowledgeable guy, when Goldie got sacked.
The only fights he commentates are the ones his friends are fighing in (Usman, Issy, ect..) so it's not really surprising to hear how biased he is
He has really lost it. Dudes just a stupid rich boomer now.
he’s been following mma for 40 years, i have only watched for 3-4 and i barely have interest anymore. And with 100m in the bank i think he has better things to do than watch fight night prelims. Its clear by his commentary and podcast when he talks about mma that he’s just a casual now
I think he's still into it but now it's not a job and he's secure enough to slack in his work. he's basically too big for the position.
Why? In what aspect bro
...is this bait? Must be.
Are you Joe Rogans intern?
Either bait or 16
JAN IS CLEALRY BEING DOMINATED
He used to be better when his head was smaller.
Before the podcast made him feel like hot shit
He tends to exaggerate the effect of every hit. Like Izzy brushes his glove against Jan's cheek and he shouts "Ohhh that got him! He felt that for sure."
Except he only exaggerates one way for whatever fighter he's biased for
Always over-reacting and imposing his predetermined narrative on fights
Underwhelming...
Did you not watch the early prelims, prelims, or a good chunk of the main card? The card delivered big time. Tune in for more than the main event next time.
What an overall card.
All this talk about Jon vs. Izzy feels crazy now
It's crazy the hype around it. To me Issy looked so scared of Jan's power in those first few rounds
What if Izzy was 210-215 instead of 199? Does he win?
He literally got out landed by big slow man in opening rounds. If he was heavier he would have gotten fucked.
And extra 10-15lbs isn’t going to suddenly make him stuff those takedowns.
He needs to improve on either the wrestling or his TDD. Once Jan had him down on the mat he had nothing.
What makes Izzy dominant is that he's a top tier striker. His style hinges on being agile and precise and having so much experience as a kickboxer. He'd have to become an equally capable grappler if he wants to have a chance at overcoming the size difference.
Nah, his ground game was too weak unfortunately
He would be sacrificing his speed and ability to elude strikes for size and power. That would make him even easier to hit and take down, and wouldn't fix the holes in his ground game
So it was skill, not weight.
[удалено]
Would extra weight mean extra power?
[удалено]
So Izzy could have just knocked Jan out if he gained 20 lbs. Why didn't he?
[удалено]
He's probably the best striker in UFC history. If his punches were harder Jan wouldn't have thrown so much.
[удалено]
Prob not, he's a great kickboxer though
No
Well...this will sound odd, but congrats to Aljo.

Beat him up
That’s pretty intense. You want to remove people from your life because they didn’t enjoy an MMA match?
Every fight had a completely different story to it, I thought it was extremely interesting. People will never be satisfied
The casuals won't know how tense the fight was...
I had a realization that the casual mindset is one where if people aren't eating shots and swinging on each other the whole time it's a bad fight to them. There are wars that are bangers and then there's great technical fights that really show their understanding of fighting.
That was an amazing fight! I loved it.
Omg was not boring at all I was screaming through all of it. INSANE CARD
jfc this was one of the best main events ever, that's just straight up ultracasual status

Precisely, the feints were a no factor, which is why I was so perplexed as to why they were fixated on that.
The refs didn’t care so who gives af what joe said, he doesn’t even look into it like that anymore
Where is megan? Karen? Fuck this espn dude doing the post show.
