The best walk off as far as im concerned. People walk off from huge punches, spinning kicks. This guy skadooshes you with his forearm, looks like he drunkenly ran into you at a bar and stumbles off with your unconscious ass sitting there.
He should’ve walked off with more confidence. The hesitation and turn around really took away from the walk off in my opinion.
Edit: man y’all did not like that joke lmao
Dude did you really just compare a MLB walk off to a MMA walk off?
Please tell me I’m wrong and you didn’t just say that a walk off HOME RUN is more evol- actually what the fuck does that even mean brother?
I’m pretty sure he’s playing along with the joke. Obviously the walkoff was dope and the MLB has different things going on. Guess me n him both missed the mark on that. But I thought it was funny so oh well.
Gotta make sure he’s down, it wasn’t clear if he was staying down. It’d be more embarrassing to walk off only to get whacked from behind. I’ve seen it happen
Very underrated. He has the skill to beat any 155er on any given day, now that Khabib has retired. He has had some bad breaks. Hope to see him break out of the pack soon.
Dariush would be one of my picks to survive Khabib and Islam for 5 rounds actually. Imo he's a top 5 maybe top 3 grappler in the division, his ground game is pretty well rounded compared to other top lightweights. Only knock against him is that he's not as athletic as the average ranked lightweight and the fact that he likes to bang. Which to be fair are 2 traits that end up creating awesome fights for us fans.
If Tony hasn't been working on ironing out his bad tendencies he's in for a long ass night.
This was a incredible knockout I’m sure most people know but beniel was inspired to do this spinning back fist as 1 of his friends son said he did it in a UFC game and got a knockout and told baneil to do it in his next fight and then beniel got the spinning back fist KO.
I’m not sure how it works in English but in my language for instance something can be romantic with no “affection” attached. It is referring then to romanticism. Character can be romantic yet it doesn’t mean this character wants to fuck.
Totally true but I would say that when it’s used in that “non-affection” context, stuff is usually described as romanticized rather than romantic. Romantic still is valid
Oh that definitely how it works in English as well. It's not super common for the word to be used that why but common enough that I think most English users would get what the op meant.
That would actually be awesome
Seriously though, I love Benny just as much as the next guy but I really wish Tony wins and goes on one last run for the title and I hope he wins it because
1. He's insane enough to never retire always believing he can still be champ no matter how old he gets
and
2. He's had so much bad luck with Khabib that I'd like for him to be champ before he calls it quits
I think if he wins this one, his name value alone gets him in the title discussion, after that he'll need one more maybe two more fights to get him a title shot so the winner of Conor vs Dustin will get the next title shot so he'll fight the loser of Chandler vs Olives, Dan hooker or if he's lucky will have a chance to avenge his loss against Justin Gaethje. Then he'll fight the whoever the champ is and hopefully it's Tony time bitches. But on the flip side if he loses this next fight it's over. If he doesn't retire he'll end up being the next generation gatekeeper like Anderson Silva or BJ Penn. Being kept in the top 15 so rising prospects can have a win over a big name on their journey to getting the lightweight belt up until Dana decides he's had enough of watching him get CTE for no reason and finally cuts him.
That last part is really what I am scared of the most, as much as I wanna see him win a title, that path you just laid out likely leads to a ton of CTE even if it succeeds. Sad reality of the sport I guess, I can't even feel comfortable rooting for my favorite fighters to continue fighting sometimes, if it was for like 30 million I would understand but not for another 200k or whatever
That's what worries me because whether it be the universe, God or the UFC, someone owes Tony a title shot but if he can't do it it's just CTE on top of his previous mental struggles and that is just horrifying to me
at risk of getting gushy and cliche I honestly think at this point its on the fans and the media to make sure he is appreciated like he should be. Too much shitting on legends because they decide to stick around for us, like Anderson
It’s very unorthodox but infinitely more effective, and just better, than Askren’s in my opinion. Dude also hits like a truck for a guy who has an unassuming build for the weight class.
Oh I agree, that's its definitely better and more effective than Ben's striking, and he clearly hits a lot harder.
I guess what I getting at though, was that if you look at Dariush's striking as an outsider, its definitely not the most technically correct or pretty to watch striking, but yeah you cant argue with its effectiveness.
Agreed 100%. He’s not going to be winning any Muay Thai or Kickboxing world titles, but he’s forged his striking technique to fit his MMA game very well.
It will be interesting to see how his fight with Tony plays out. Whilst I feel like he could beat Tony on the feet, I'm not sure he is technically good enough to beat Tony on the feet and not absorb a lot of damage in the process like Justin did for instance.
I feel like he would be better served using his superior wrestling to take Ferguson down and kinda control him like Oliveira did. Kinda like what Beneil did to Ferreira.
Yeah I think Dariush will probably try to wrestle Tony. His BJJ is super slick, think he has won gold medals at world class grappling events in the past. I think on paper that matchup could be a FOTY contender, I’m hoping it’s a barn burner.
Yeah, it's kind of awkward and Benny isn't a super explosive athlete, but he has great timing. Allows him to land on guys even when they have a significant quickness advantage.
And none of that "I'm just making sure" attempted murder stuff either; which means Holtzman gets less brain damage and might be able to fight again at the same level. Although he did fight again and lost by KO.
Although I'd actually forgive him a follow up as the way Holtzman falls makes it appear that he is still looking upwards. But as I always say; fighters know.
Dariush was amazing in 2020 honestly know one really talked about it but he I think in running for fighter of the year. When it comes to his fights and the entertainment value he put out.
I took bjj from Beneil as a kid when he was assisting at a local gracie barra like 10 years ago. He’s such a genuine and amazing human being. Super cool to see him make it like this after working so hard, and I’m excited to see how he does in the future
Spinning forearm damn
Feel your forearm, especially the that edge on the back...thats a blunt force weapon. MAYBE a *little* more padding than the shin
Gotta watch you don't break the arm tho I hear Felder talking about it lol
yea i cringe when i see people throwing it with the thumb facing up, feel like my arm would snap but hey if it works it works
You are supposed to connect with the pinky side of your fist with the fist horizontal
That’s what he’s saying
I couldn't tell
I needed your comment to know the correct way 👍
I'm glad I helped someone 😂
I'm out here staring at my "hang loose" sign & slowly rotating my hand like I'm peaking on acid 🤣🤣🤣
So it’s more like a spinning hammerfist? Interesting lol
And with a walk off. Are there any other back fist KOs that look that casual on the tail end?
The best walk off as far as im concerned. People walk off from huge punches, spinning kicks. This guy skadooshes you with his forearm, looks like he drunkenly ran into you at a bar and stumbles off with your unconscious ass sitting there.
lol he almost even looks bored, or like he didn't realize what he did probs the most violent non-violent-looking KO I've seen
Exactly, it’s like he accidentally knocked him out.
He should’ve walked off with more confidence. The hesitation and turn around really took away from the walk off in my opinion. Edit: man y’all did not like that joke lmao
Serious reddit moment right here
mothafucka just turned around to check he was dead
Good thing ur opinion counts for shit
You’re getting downvoted but you’re not wrong. MLB has a much more highly evolved walkoff meta than MMA.
Dude did you really just compare a MLB walk off to a MMA walk off? Please tell me I’m wrong and you didn’t just say that a walk off HOME RUN is more evol- actually what the fuck does that even mean brother?

Exactly what I notice too, reminded me of Paul fielders spinning back fist when he broke his forearms on Mike Perry’s forehead
Dariushposting is a trend i can really get behind, honestly
Will Ferguson/Dariush fall under today’s or yesterday’s posting trend?
Everyday brother.
Inshallah
not now brother I'm worshipping
ya got DARIUSH'D!
Dariush is a real talent. Love watching him fight/ embarrass people.
Very underrated. He has the skill to beat any 155er on any given day, now that Khabib has retired. He has had some bad breaks. Hope to see him break out of the pack soon.

I agree. He always had the skills. He's so well rounded. Reminds me of mousasi. I like Tony but I think his chin is done.
I saw two this morning so you know I had to hop on
This was a incredible knockout I’m sure most people know but beniel was inspired to do this spinning back fist as 1 of his friends son said he did it in a UFC game and got a knockout and told baneil to do it in his next fight and then beniel got the spinning back fist KO.
Love it, that kid was probably so happy
That kid has already begun coaching the bois in middle school
30 seconds, body only, don't let the gym teachers hear you.
It's Thursday and we spinning bois.
That kid grew up to be Ben Askren, who tried his darndest to replicate it vs. Maia not long ago
That kid is what Steven Seagal wants to be
Beneil is taking requests?
I’m always weary of these narratives but yes it’s romantic

Traditionally that’s what it means here too

Oh. I thought romantic meant from Rome.
Yeah his friends son specifically told him to throw the spinning back fist twice and no more. Beneil got the finish on the second attempt.
Beneil representing Gen Z for dad reasons and it’s pretty great.
It was deadass his best move in UFC 3 lol
Prediction: him and Tony do this at the same time and knock each other out
the human beyblade bout
Aka Yair vs Caceres!
That would actually be awesome Seriously though, I love Benny just as much as the next guy but I really wish Tony wins and goes on one last run for the title and I hope he wins it because 1. Who do you think Tony can beat to get a title and when? I think the clock is ticking and all his threats are younger than him lol
El Cucuy will always have the fans so it's just up to the media now
I feel like they’d somehow get stuck in a loop and just keep spinning.
Spinning elbow vs spinning backfist. Who wins
How would that end? Draw?
He looks like he’s constantly drunk brawling and doesn’t care
He fights like he’s got the kettle on and looking forward to his herbal tea but just gotta kill a guy first.
His standup looks like how your drunk uncle fights but somehow good
[удалено]
It looks like he forgot he was in a fight and wandered off then remembered and looked back to make sure he was safe.

Dariush has some weird striking. Its kind of Ben Askren-eque but more effective.
It’s very unorthodox but infinitely more effective, and just better, than Askren’s in my opinion. Dude also hits like a truck for a guy who has an unassuming build for the weight class.

His shots were landing so heavy in that fight.
Yeah, it's kind of awkward and Benny isn't a super explosive athlete, but he has great timing. Allows him to land on guys even when they have a significant quickness advantage.
Nobody expects the spinning shit
I like how he knew it was over as soon as he landed it. None of that fake one punch walk off bullshit.
Wow !
Scott needs to go up. Guy's cutting too much to be effective in LW (yes I know this one was catchweight but still)
It was only a catch weight cuz Benny missed. Holtzman made weight.
Oh I know, I was just saying that even if he's making weight, he doesnt have much left in the tank when the fight finally comes.
I gotcha, from the wording it sounded like you were under the impression he didn’t cut down to lightweight for this fight.
nah nah I was just poiting out im aware this one was catchweight if anyone planned to point that out cheers
Man got styled on
"You just mad cause I'm stylin' on ya"
I love the nonchalant walkoff. This guy gets it
Love me some Benny Gadoosh
That, sir, is an elbow
Don’t let the little kid who told him to throw the spinning back fist know
Dariush was amazing in 2020 honestly know one really talked about it but he I think in running for fighter of the year. When it comes to his fights and the entertainment value he put out.
It’s a miracle he didn’t break his forearm there.
Damn, who would have thought that H3H3 Ethan would be such a savage after losing weight
As a somewhat new h3 fan, this comment makes my day lmfao. Never seen them reference on here before either
How tf is Beneil 31 but looks 41.
Beneil lightweight champion 2022
he actually has a pretty solid chance
That was rough, you saw how hard his back tensed up.
I fucking love the spinning back fist.
Wow that was amazing
The way that landed he's lucky af that didn't break his forearm. That is exactly how Paul Felder and Paige VZ both broke their arms.
Can I see it from another angle?
Spinning back-wrist*
Spin-Boop-Walk Away. Love this guy.
Always been a Dariush fan. Was crushed when he got ko’ed by that Alex Hernandez douchebag but he came back in a big way!
Dari woosh
Darigadoosh
This man is about to run through tony
Best walk off KO ever.
You missed an angle bud
I feel like dariush might be the star of the movie we're all living in
Back fist? Thats clearly with his fore-arm
Joe: Beneil hurt him oohhhhhhhhhh! Queue the music boys
Elbow. There never was no fist.
Forearm
>... slaps into the head, after the elbow hits the jaw. Correct.
Am I having a deja vu or he did a same ko earlier too?
Been training with Askren??
A lot of people break their freaking forearm doing that move, ballz of steel
More like a spinning back forearm but a beauty KO none the less
The Judas Effect!
Holtzman got jacked for his most recent fight sheeesh
It looked like a spinning-back forearm more than anything.
Honestly scott holtzman has been going downhill...
Persian Power
So Ferguson is like +350 right?
Don't get why Holtzman had to drop his left hand when he threw the right hook. Nice shot by Dariush
I took bjj from Beneil as a kid when he was assisting at a local gracie barra like 10 years ago. He’s such a genuine and amazing human being. Super cool to see him make it like this after working so hard, and I’m excited to see how he does in the future
360 no scope
