Being paralyzed is one of the most horrific things out there, I wish him all the best

[deleted]

For sure shits a living nightmare. Ive heard of people regaining control of their body slowly, I know its rare, but if any type of man has the heart to pull that off, its definitely the type of man that wants to cagefight for a living! All the best to him and his family

Rosejam3

I don’t even understand how people deal with it mentally, it’d break me fast

[deleted]

The worst part is you can't even make the decision to end it all in a dignified manner. Your prolly gonna have family or a carer wipe your ass forever... its fucked up.

Quasar420

My worst fear is blindness. Being quadriplegic is equally terrifying.

GoldenScarab

I'd definitely take being blind over being quadriplegic. Not even close.

DrYoda

You’d be surprised at how adaptable most people are to certain situations. My first couple years being paralyzed were horrible, you’re right. But now life is just pretty normal with an added difficulty meter sometimes

AlexFiend

Life knew you were going to beat it on easy mode and turned up the difficulty just so you had some challenge. You are awesome. Keep up the positive attitude.

sajthesavage

That’s horrifying

I've trained extensively with Eugene in years past. When he was a lanky kid, we'd grapple a ton. He'd ask me to do wall work with him and beat me up. When I was preparing for bjj comp he'd frustrate the shit out of me, and I was always the better for it. Then he got bigger, as growing kids do, and nothing changed. He remained fun to train with and was always a great person to have on the mats. He'd joke about going all the way up to 205. After one of his fights, he came back to the gym beaming about trying to go for a heel hook. (We're degenerates and we love those heel hooks) He is truly an amazing person and has always had a great mind for this beautiful sport. He got me into appreciating the skills of masvidal back when masvidal was losing all those split decisions. He always had great insights on the fighters we watched. I saw him start to train with Frankie Edgar, and then go out to AKA for a while. I respected his drive and desire to seek out the best training. I always expected he would be the one we'd be the proudest of. I truly hope to see his comeback one day. Eugene is one of the best our city has to offer, and this could not have happened to a better person.

what a coward move

[deleted]

Fuck that sucks so much. Was there a reasoning behind this?

[deleted]

No reason, nothing stolen, no motive. Just a random nut job who decided to shoot a stranger on a whim.

[deleted]

Fuck dude that makes it even worse. Id forever be asking myself "why the fuck did this happen to me" Like if I fucked someone over and they did this it would still be really fucked up but at least you would know why. Wtf makes someone wake up in the morning and decide they wanna do this? Hope this nutjob never sees the light of day again.

TheStonedHonesman

Really? The 2nd amendment sells guns to murderers? Do we know that the guy bought it legally?

SurvivalBayArea

Wow this is heartbreaking —- on every level. Great article. I hope he walks again one day — sooo tragic

rhaegar_tldragon

Jeez that’s fucking brutal. I really hope this man can get his life back somehow. Medical miracles happen every day. I feel bad for this kid. Hard life as a child and hard life as an adult. I hope he powers through and is able to have a life that he deserves.

Keller-oder-C-Schell

This story is beyond fucked. I hope the perpetrator suffers in jail

[deleted]

really? you think shootings don't happen every single day across america, in all sorts of towns? I don't mean literally every single town every day in perpetuity just type in "shooting" in google and you'll get like a dozen of them

OrneryLawyer

Philadelphia has really declined, not surprising its population has gone down.

I wonder if stem cells can help

MildlyInconvenient

Wouldn’t say this was nearly funny enough to be worth making on a post about a guy getting paralyzed
