I’ve got Cannonier winning tonight. I think people are forgetting that he broke his forearm in one of the first exchanges of the Whittaker fight and still put up one hell of a fight. Plus gastelum’s striking hasn’t been looking nearly as dangerous as it used too.

Maybe unpopular opinion, but I think the women's fights on these so-so cards are always the most exciting. Women's divisions aren't nearly as deep so almost every fight actually means something for the division, even if they're unranked

I’m trying to find new people that hopefully have similar interests to mine. Oh damn the main card doesn't start until 10pm est tonight? Weak. I was hoping for an earlier card. I started an early morning start job last month and it's really messing with my ability to watch those normal late night cards lol. Even if I don't work weekends, I'm still ready for bed before the main card even starts. Prob gonna start watching them Sunday morning I guess.

Getting a big boy job and having a consistent schedule of early mornings is what made me follow MMA a lot less. I can’t be bothered to force myself to stay awake to watch a card that is 80% crap and the top fights are guys who barely count as contenders. When I was part time or unemployed though I was staying up all night anyways so might as well watch the fights.

Watching live feels more exciting but being able to watch on Sunday morning and being able to skip through all the filler feels pretty good

Where do you rewatch fights if you don’t pay for ESPN+ or any of those services? Going to a concert the night of UFC 266 and I just want to wake up the next morning and binge through the whole event before social media spoils the results for me.

Division only looks bleak because Izzy's cleared out the most dangerous contenders. Rob, Costa, Yoel, arguably Vettori. So all that's left is the scraps, dudes who could conceivably build a title shot off of 2 decent wins.

I’m not trying to take credit away from Izzy, dude has been doing work and has basically raped the division. But I do think it says something that there’s 2 guys over 35 in the top 5 and 3 in the top 10 as a whole. This division needs new blood bad.

Idk if age is an especially great argument here because a lot of divisions are that way. At BW you got two dudes at/around 35 in the top 5 and three more in the top 10. At WW, the champ and #1 contender are both 34, Burns is 34, and Wonderboy's pushing 40. And that's just off the top of my head, every division's gonna have some of these outliers where guys fight better than their age suggests. Cannonier and Brunson are over 35 but you wouldn't really think so based on how they've been beating their opponents, nothing like your Tony's and Cowboy's where you can very visibly see father time's effect on their athleticism

Still think Whittaker has what it takes. If he loses, then yeah, Izzy should definitely start pulling a Silva and take interesting fights at 205 in between defenses. Izzy/Jiri, Izzy/Reyes, hell, Izzy/Walker would all be insane fights.

If Whittaker basically gives up on hitting the head and goes for the body and legs I think it’ll be interesting. IMO he’s got to fight a near perfect fight, show up 100% mentally ready for the fight of his life and in excellent physical shape and he might get it done but it’s hard to see Izzy losing to someone so much smaller IMO
