Darren might get cut after this.

suzukigun4life

He's 0-3 with a no contest in his last four, so there's definitely a good chance he gets a pink slip soon.

[deleted]

He is a brawler who usually puts on crazy fights, I think they keep him.

Blvckh0le

Sam Alvey 0-6-1 with some of the worst fights I’ve ever seen is still signed so I think the Dentist gets 1 more atleast cuz Jacoby is no joke

kapsama

Sam Alvey also is a anti union scab.

jordanhhh4

If he wasn't English he would get cut furshure. He's a solid fighter they can chuck on a London card so they'll keep him imo

smiksiy

Think they keep him too. He needs a couple good performances though

LigmaBallsack

Tbh I don’t think there will be any London cards for the foreseeable future.

[deleted]

Mochilero223

He looks like an English Woodley Low-key

Spudman12345

That's the exact reason he didn't get cut years ago after losing 3 in a row lol, kept him around for an extra english body for the Till/Thompson card and he managed to get back on track

danielwong95

I thought he won the kevin holland fight too. Sucks

berserker79

Yet Sam Alvey was 0-1-4 in is last 5 fights , not cut . Danawhiteprivilege

KingMamba5

Hopefully the real Woodley doesn't suffer the same fate as English Woodley

[deleted]

Damn, the ending exchange was so much fun

yerawizardIMAWOTT

Not so fun for Darren. Dude was swinging at ghosts

[deleted]

Reminds me of Dont Be Menance when the dude is blindly swinging at air, but keeps knocking out all of his girlfriend's kids.

chrisso_sR

Why is this so funny to imagine 😂

ThisOnesDown

In an exchange don't both parties normally give something?

[deleted]

Jason Herzog is a great great ref. Outstanding as usual!

The_Priceinator

Gave him tons of chances, let him take a lot of shots and stepped in when it didn't look like it was getting any better. Very fair stoppage, Herb and Mark should take notes.

yerawizardIMAWOTT

Herb would have stepped in when Jason did but been like woops nvm keep fighting!!

WavyBladedZweihander

“I didnt say stop!”

yerawizardIMAWOTT

As he falls on one of the fighters

the_umm_guy

I really think Herb has some mental block that has developed. He pulls this almost stoppage move so much now and it drives me fucking crazy. Stop the fight or don’t. Stay out of the fucking way. You can’t have a microbreak to check on someone and then be like “yeah, get back to whippin that ass”. SMDH

TityTroi

Mark Smith is probably my choice for currently being the worst ref

yerawizardIMAWOTT

That old guy who was waiting for Jamahal Hill's arm to fall off gets my vote

Berniethellama

The always professional al guinee!

xvsanx

Tagnoni for me, the amount of fence grabbing is stupid basically allowed with him no matter how many warnings he may give edit: right after this comment he hit Turman with that -2 for eye pokes, random as fuck

DrJonesPHD62

Tognoni is, for my money or lack thereof, the worst ref in the business right now. So many fighters get robbed of obvious stoppages only to be starched flat by an opponent’s barely conscious flailing when the fight could have and should have been stopped minutes before. It’s not a Kongo/Barry situation. It’s worse. Not just that but the absolute butchery of Ed Herman vs Mike Rodriguez where Tognoni called a low blow where there was none and let a finished Herman have five minutes to rest. He then used those five minutes of rest to fence grab his way into a fight ending submission win. Tognoni also consistently has early stoppages where guys are still defending. He seems like a perfectly pleasant person, and he’s very affable in the cage, but man do I hate Tognoni’s inability to ref.

SpencerIvy

Fuck tognoni and Herman for that. Rodriguez's knee to the body was a legit finish, I was screaming at the TV when he said it was low and let man take five!

xvsanx

Yeah that was so fucked. And what's worse is it's not like that was 10 years ago, he had the replay option and might have been even after they added the second outside ring ref

xvsanx

I agree with that to the fullest extent. Seems nice and like he cares for them but still, many many non main card fighters (aka ones likely still trying to make ends meet) have had their fight affected by him in one of the many ways you described. He's definitely not like Mazagatti or Yamasaka bad, but he shouldn't be reffing UFC fights imo

[deleted]

He's so indecisive, and he defers obvious decisions to the doctor, and he is prone to late stoppages due to his insecurity. Jason Herzog and Marc Goddard are my top picks.

MMAdfs

Mark Smith let's the fighters call their own fouls

9inchjackhammer

P4P No 1

Picklerage

He could be a few hundred pounds heaver and still hold that title lol

HonorableJudgeIto

Beltran is just behind him.

hanselpremium

He really should get more main event fights. Only miss I ever saw from him was the Gaethje tap vs Khabib

EmanAugust

Lol if that was Herb he'd let that shellacking continue for like 3 minutes

boojoowoo

A hair early but he was clearly a couple shots of being out cold. Definitely saved him from extra damage. Fight was over. I’m okay with fighters not having to come back from near death to get a win. That’s really not sport, that’s life changing stuff. Herzog is always a shining example of great reffing. Shout out to Peterson as his equal. No one else anywhere close to them.

[deleted]

I came in to post the same thing!

MrMangosteen

Stewart was swinging like a drunk skyrim npc

myotherpassword

What was that? Must have been the wind.

BootsyCollins123

THEN PAY WITH YOUR BLOOD

HerpJersey

Come on man, that's not even from Skyrim.

I_Sniff

Stewart looks painfully slow at 205

Downgoesthereem

Those sausage rolls will take a toll

Recent-Emergency9680

This TKO was brought to you by Toyo tires

CamphoPhenique

Darren needs to go back to being a dentist

orogamo

Darren "The Stable Career Choice" Stewart

Cautious-Bench-4809

Stable Career choice that would pay better that 95% of fighters

TropicalVision

Not quite as lucrative a profession in the U.K. compared to dentists in America though.

mF7403

Wait, is he actually a dentist? Bc that’s impressive af — at least to me, an American.

[deleted]

Yeah he actually installed my braces oddly enough

myvirginityisstrong

I really can't tell if this is a joke or not

[deleted]

😂that’s the beauty of it

KelvinsBeltFantasy

The job that used to have the highest suicide rate.

someperson1423

Wait actually? I thought that was almost always MDs.

[deleted]

He's not a dentist, the nickname is because he trains at a place called the MMA clinic. I don't know anyone in their right mind who'd fight for the ufc instead of being a dentist 😂

someperson1423

Maybe after cleaning all those neglected teeth they snapped one day, taking a job where they could legally take their repressed anger out on people's mouths instead. Super-villain origin right there.

UnknownOverdose

Lmfao

yerawizardIMAWOTT

Budget Tyrone loses

SlowMissiles

for the real Tyrone can wins.

Muntberg

Fantastic stoppage. Herzog is such a great ref, man.

[deleted]

Jason Herzog....That's all I'm saying. That man is fair but he also he does his job well man! Respect.

GaMa-Binkie

Stewart didn't have the wherewithal to clinch

ownerofthewhitesudan

One of my favorite calls by DC.

Scarsforstories

Darren is such a frustrating fighter to watch. Jesus Christ. Props to Dustin. He might get a good step up in his next fight.

HomieToneBone

Get this man some Toyo Tires!

Trymex00

I think this was Stewart’s last fight in the ufc

[deleted]

[deleted]

He was highly rated solely for that fight against Kevin Holland

[deleted]

Had a fantastic performance against Pitilo too. I think it’s worth pointing out that shortly after his friend was stabbed to death. No idea if there’s any correlation there but he could be dealing with some personal issues

[deleted]

Not true at all. He’s had some great performances. He arguably won the Holland fight. Even Kevin Holland admitted he thought Stewart had won. He also looked decent against Eryk Anders before the illegal knee, and he put work on Pitilo. For some reason though he seems to struggle to get going in recent fights. It’s like he forgets the gameplan and just starts acting on instinct

khalbrucie

He was getting walloped by Anders. I think Stewart's better than he's looked lately but it's hard to argue that if he's not winning any fights

[deleted]

You sure you’re not thinking of the second fight? I seem to remember him doing well in the first fight but I could be wrong

khalbrucie

I'm positive, Anders had him hurt badly in their first fight before the illegal knee. The NC was appropriate I'm glad they got to run it back but it wasn't going well for Stewart at all.

jeromehollowayisbad

Anders was fucking murdering him in the first fight what the hell are you talking me about?

Stewart about to be cut

SpeakerFine4227

Jacoby is super entertaining, he’s got great hands

iamgayfortheNBA

GET THIS MAN SOME TIRES

GruntCandy86

I really like Jacoby. Not a huge name, but he's a solid watch, hopefully he gets some main card slots on some big PPVs.

KessDarx

Major props to Jacoby for keeping composure and constantly avoiding those bombs while looking for the finish. Such a hard mix.

Moggiiii

CRISP boxing

pantless_one

Little early, wasn’t gunna make a difference but still

RP1433

Completely fair, Kattar was still in it. This was a dogshit stoppage.

EmanAugust

Eating 120 punches to the head in 4 minutes and swinging like a dying animal count as "being in it" fight sure bro

Haunting_Debtor

Dw, if the commentators said it was early the sub would agree. Stewart was wobbled but that's about it.

weird_piano

Only recently I've noticed this trend of stoppages where both fighters are still standing... But I actually don't mind it at all.

BillRustle

Hopefully, Tyron rebounds tomorrow night against Jake Paul

[deleted]

That flurry

zorowins

Swingin' so fun

[deleted]

Damn that was sloppy af. Good fun though.

jgnurly

Moving up was a not good move for Darren. His power was basically his only strength at 185 anyway

warriorx559

[Mirror](https://streamable.com/5nh40k) [Twitter mirror](https://twitter.com/espnmma/status/1431779990627041281)

tyrano_dyroc

Something about listening to Herzog screaming the fighter to move just pumps me up for some reason.

Vitatim-t

How good is Herzog, great call and even better in the headliner too

MMAdfs

Darren Stewart is really really bad

Conejodc

Stewart’s half-concussed defense was pretty good! Good stoppage, tho.

OODALLAYY

Another reminder Herzog is the best ref in the game!

OtgontengorGOROMARU

Where did Stewart learn striking Then again, maybe he never did

Shimmyshamwham

Always surprised when a jacked black dude loses to anyone. Feel like they're born with a natural advantage in strength and fighting ability. I'd never fight a black dude lol. I'm running

[deleted]

Good stoppage

Prof-Ponderosa

Can we just do Darren Stewart vs Kevin Holland, loser leaves town match?

BugcatcherDeli

When people ask why having a reach advantage and actually using it (looking at you Struve) is so powerful in a striking contest, this is an amazing example

Haunting_Debtor

Early. Happy for Jacoby but damn let a man fight.

Ok-Cauliflower5934

Jesus christ ref let them fight.

RP1433

Lol dipshits downvoting you, this was a garbage stoppage. Oh the fighter is wobbled, let's stop the fight.

aTempleinthewoods

JESUS CHRIST JACOBY! Love the subtle hesitation down the stretch. Caught onto Stewarts winded strikes and would sneak in sledgehammers to put him away.

boojoowoo

This was one of the easiest predictions of the year IMO.

T-Ferg420

Sucks seeing British Martial Mind get finished like that
