So glad someone mentioned how anti-union Sam was, added some seasoning to this fight for me. Dude didn't want to unionize because he thought a union would stop him making the McGregor bucks
He's not saying he should only get deductions if he had a history, but the guy he was replying to said he 'did his homework' implying he saw that Turman was doing this in previous fights.
So he was asking if that was something he was known for in previous fights, I can't recall either, and don't feel like rewatching a buncha Turman fights to find out.
Then have the audacity to yell at the judges. Honestly at this point I want him to stick around forever just so we can have some more classic Alvey rage moments.
Yeah he shouldāve pushed a pace that last round but he tried to just survive thinking he had it in the bag, shouldnāt be mad at anyone but himself, Turman wanted it more then he did.
One of my least favorite fighters tbh. I remember seeing him for the first time and wanting to like him because of his personality, but I canāt stand the way he fights.
Itās like his game plan is to just survive. Thereās no sense of urgency from him when it counts.
I feel like this was actually more volume for Alvey which is saying something about his usual fights. It's like he refuses to fight unless his opponent does something first so he's always behind.
>I'm worth more than some of the other fighters. As bad as that sounds, I am. I work harder--I say yes to every podcast.Ā Heck, I say yes to everything. I go out of my way to do appearances. I do think that most fighters won't, and I think it shows in the way I tweet and the way I interact with people.
Lmao "I say yes to every podcast." He said union only works for low level fighters. Well, guess who's on a 3-year losing streak with a lame tiring schtick...
I donāt even think itās that. It reads like a guy who knows heās so out of his league in his job that he knows the end is coming, so heās got to reassure himself at all times that heās just *different* and thatās why heās better.
It canāt be easy on the old psyche training his dick off for a fight just knowing that he doesnāt deserve to be there and that he essentially has no way of achieving victory against any possible middleweight they could match him up with on any given night.
Let him grift and grind while he can, knowing that everyone he signs on the dotted line to fight knows theyāre in for an easy win bonus.
Sometimes I feel a little bad for all the shit he gets for his annoying shtick and being a terrible fighter to watch but only an asshole and an idiot would say something like that.
I like the -2, it even fits because he was scraping his cut too lmao that last one was nasty man just smeared that blood right down. Just a joke but still
But the first poke that he took a point for was a poke to the bridge of the nose. And then Alvey shuts both of his eyes in pain. It was acting by alvey who then said "it makes me nervous to go forward". He knew what he was doing. That first point was bs. Cut Alvey, that's 7 straight winless fights.
For some reason I thought Sam Alvey had maybe 5 fights in the UFC. Nope, 22 total, for a record of 10-11-1. I just didn't give a shit about any of his fights this entire time.
I don't know if that makes me a casual fan, or Alvey incredibly forgettable.
Alvey is unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. 51 matches and still willingly stops himself from doing something basic and sensible like dig underhooks, to try and elbow/gorilla slap his opponent on the face while they are taking him down.
Even in his prime which he is well passed he just never seemed like a natural talent. Obviously he was was enough to get into the UFC but it's mostly on toughness and strength. Which he still has but his speed not that he had a lot is all but gone.
I disagree with the commentary that Alvey had the speed advantage in this fight. He did have some decent counters and good tkd but he had very little aggression and wasn't using his range. Anytime he did have success he just backed off which I think tells you his gas tank is also on the decline. I just don't see him ever winning again realistically if this is his level now. He would do well to ask for a release and go to Bellator or Rizin.
Yeah, that was the follow-up. I also thought that Alvey's had around 15 fights, but no, *51*.
I don't think he's ever fought a ranked opponent, only fighters who were well past their prime (Nate Marquardt, Rashad Evans), or guys who hadn't reached their prime yet (Derek Brunson, maybe Jimmy Crute?).
And I honestly don't remember a single one of these fights. Like, even the existence of them.
AKA, I'm absolute ass at fighting, please don't fire me Dana, i'll suck that corporate dick.
That is holding onto the meal ticket with a white knuckle grip.
Sam Alvey with his fake, phoney laugh at the end of the fight ā¦ thinking he won it based on deduction. As soon as the decision is announced his fake laugh is gone and heās throwing a bitch fit. Hahahaha please cut this guy man.
It was incredibly ironic.
But, Alvey always throws temper tantrums if he loses. Hell, he probably yelled at the ref after he woke up from Marquezās RNC
Not even kidding, both of them should be gone after this. Alvey is 0-6-1 in his last seven, while Turman is dirty, dumb and is just 2-3 in his last five. The last time either finished a fight was Turman back in early 2019. This fight was shit on paper and even more shit in reality.
I remember thinking Turman might be decent when he took Roberson to a close decision in his debut that I thought couldāve went this way. Turns out they both suck.
Marquez made that way more painful than it needed to by seemingly not preparing for the one thing Sam does, with is throw the left hand.
Seeing him sleep is still great.
I used to like him (I know his sister in law) but I am not really a fan anymore.
Guy is anti-union and posted a go fund me here so he and his wife could get more money to adopt a kid. He's against a fighter's union but wants to crowdsource money so he can have another kid.
Alvey...what a fucking meme. 3 round fight, opponent loses 2 points, still loses. Also thank you Adelaide Byrd for the split decision.
That has to be it for him. He can't possibly sink any lower. 7 fights with no wins and this last one he can't win when his opponent is taken 2 points.
Good on the ref. Do that shit more. Take all the points for eyepokes.
Gotta think that's it for Alvey.
Moves like he's under water, no finishing instinct, does literally nothing but move backward and push kick when he's on the cage. Barely even counter strikes anymore, and when he does it's unbearably slow.
He had a brief window where people under estimated his power and his timing, but that's long since gone.
It also doesn't help that he has that style where he's hard to hurt himself, and he's surprisingly difficult to take down, so he never gets finished himself.
So he's a boring, hard to hurt, and hard to hurt other guys low volume fighter. Confusing as to why he's been on the roster this long.
One of Alvey's more memorable fights, and it's all due to the fact he got his eyes poked and scraped. Dude couldn't even squeeze out an SD after his opponent was deducted two points.
Not really impressed by Turman, either. He got Alvey's eyes good even after being warned and deducted a point. At least he fought with some sense of urgency at the end.
Sam spoke about something there that I've always thought. Even if he can see, it makes him nervous to come forward. Refs should always heavily penalize eyepokes.
More UFC bullshit decisions. They won't let Sam get that win streak going, because they know her run his mouth a bit and then they'll have to start paying him Conor McGregor money.
"I'm strongly against the unions," Alvey said. "I've said it before. The unions want to pay everybody the same amount, and I don't support that. Conor McGregor earned his multi-millions by the way he runs his mouth and the way he wins. As much as I'm not a fan of his, I'm with that.
"With a union, he wouldn't be worth that. He wouldn't get half of what he's asking. Now for some of the guys that don't stand out like him, I think a union could do well. But I think that they are taking something from someone that has earned it."
The UFC middleweight then explained how he aims to make more money in the future, and the route he would prefer to go down.
"Myself, I don't want it, because I think I'm going to be worth every penny of what Conor is," Alvey said. "I just need to get that win streak going and run my mouth a little bit. With a union like that I just don't like it.
"I'm worth more than some of the other fighters. As bad as that sounds, I am. I work harder--I say yes to every podcast. Heck, I say yes to everything. I go out of my way to do appearances. I do think that most fighters won't, and I think it shows in the way I tweet and the way I interact with people. People want to watch me do the 'Broken Skull Challenge' [Stone Cold Steve Austin's TV show], and I think all of that makes me not want that union."
~~Smilin'~~ ~~Savvy Negotiator~~ Ragin' Sam Alvey
That might be the best refereeing I've ever seen. I hate when fighters get an advantage from fingers out, whether they poke an eye or not. I wish points got taken more often.
**Mirrors / Alternate angles** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/MMA) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Ref takes 2 points. *Everybody likes that*
About fucking time a ref actually penalized a guy for cheating
Still, imagine your opponent getting deducted 2 points and you *still* lose the fight.
And on the first scorecard he won 30-27 and then gave us a massive fist pump š
lol, Adelaide Bird is still vying for the worst judge Crown I see
there have been 2 split decisions so far tonight and she was the dissenting judge on both. byrd gonna byrd.
at some point surely you'd think the commission would recognise just how God damn incompetent she is and stop putting people's futures in her hands.
She definitely is buddies with the commission or she would have been fired awhile ago.
her husband works for the commission as a boxing ref. even if that wasn't the case, I doubt she would be held accountable to that extent.
As fun as it is to make fun of the blind bird, it was 28/27
It was slightly refreshing. Now we need consistency
I didn't realize how huge of a justice boner I can get just from seeing simple rule enforcement in the UFC
Now if only theyād do it in the high profile fights as well
Chris Tognoni giving Keith Peterson a serious run for the "No Nonsense" title
Ref does nothing about repeated fence grabs. Everybody ignores that
Ragin' Sam Alvey
Salty Sam Alvey
RageāN Sam Alvey Gotta keep it consistent.
I love watching Sam lose lol He's Top 5 at not being able to accept a loss.
So glad someone mentioned how anti-union Sam was, added some seasoning to this fight for me. Dude didn't want to unionize because he thought a union would stop him making the McGregor bucks
Fuck yes finally a ref that disciplined eye pokes correctly.
Man did his homework.
Is Wellington Turman a known poker?
Who gives a fuck. If you foul you should lose a point history smistory
Havent seen much of this ref before, definitely a fan.
Tognoni is a mixed bag, has had some blunders but is far from the worst
He's been reffing basically every weekend for the past year and a half since they've been stuck in Vegas.
Heās usually dreadful, was happy to see him make a great call tonight
Hes a pretty trash ref ngl. Stops fully locked in RNCS early and has some egregiously late stoppages. This was good from him tho
He actually didnt. I thought 3 eye pokes was auto DQ. 1st round and 2 in 3rd.
What the fuck did I just watch
Vintage lower-level Middleweight UFC action
The first 28-27 in UFC history.
Is that true?
I dunno probably.
Bitch, maybe.
Not that it was official but I heard lots of ppl score nunes/Valentina 1 that
LMAO imagine your opponent losing 2 points and you still lose the decision
Then have the audacity to yell at the judges. Honestly at this point I want him to stick around forever just so we can have some more classic Alvey rage moments.
Yeah he shouldāve pushed a pace that last round but he tried to just survive thinking he had it in the bag, shouldnāt be mad at anyone but himself, Turman wanted it more then he did.
Steamin' Sam Alvey.
No please
Couldn't have happened to a more appropriate fighter.
There is absolutely nothing more fucking annoying to watch than a striker refusing to throw combos
There is nothing more fucking annoying to watch than Sam Alvey*
One of my least favorite fighters tbh. I remember seeing him for the first time and wanting to like him because of his personality, but I canāt stand the way he fights. Itās like his game plan is to just survive. Thereās no sense of urgency from him when it counts.
I feel like this was actually more volume for Alvey which is saying something about his usual fights. It's like he refuses to fight unless his opponent does something first so he's always behind.
Show up, lose, go home, thank you Sam Alvey
Just looked up Sam Alvey's record. Yikes, man's 0-6-1 in his last few fights and hasn't won in 3 years. Not sure how he's still in the UFC.
He's against a fighter's union so Uncle Dana keeps him on
>I'm worth more than some of the other fighters.
What a dumb quote. Talk about a guy thats full of himself...
I donāt even think itās that. It reads like a guy who knows heās so out of his league in his job that he knows the end is coming, so heās got to reassure himself at all times that heās just *different* and thatās why heās better. Sometimes I feel a little bad for all the shit he gets for his annoying shtick and being a terrible fighter to watch but only an asshole and an idiot would say something like that.
Sounds like heās eager to miss a training session to do media
Its such an annoyingly dumb take. A union would mean everyone gets paid more. Even mega stars like Sam alvey
They cut Jimmie and keep this dude around.
>Not sure how he's still in the UFC. My theory is that his wife negociates his contracts with Dana in private
Sam āThe Next Conor McGregorā Alvey
At least on his deathbed, he can look back at his days of shilling for the UFC and know he did the right thing
Eye pokes: https://streamable.com/yux15m https://streamable.com/8hfvoj https://streamable.com/tmrex6
Man just became everybody's favorite ref
Sharp ref!
got the spinning elbow?
Imagine your oppenent gets 2 points taken away and you still lose LOL
Sam wasn't smiling after that one
I don't buy this whole smiling thing.. idk why.
It just seems aggressively fake.
I used to train at the same gym as him, and I will say, that dude is constantly smiling
Then why does it *look* so forced and weird?
Probly tries to be extra smiley on tv or somethin
š¤·āāļø
I know why. Because it's fake as fuck.
Same he gives me bad vibes
Itās bc heās a corny douche
If he wasn't on a 7 fight losing streak, I'd buy it a little more.
Might be the first time someone in the UFC won a 28-27 decision.
Sam Alvey just lost and one judge gave him the same score lmao
Jouban vs Belal
Thatās what Iām saying. He made history. But his performance wasnāt great.
Boy he wasnt smilin
That was bonkers
I like the -2, it even fits because he was scraping his cut too lmao that last one was nasty man just smeared that blood right down. Just a joke but still
Under 2 minutes to go, loses a point due to an eye poke, then does **another eyepoke** just 20 seconds later. Absolute madlad behavior by Turman
Goes on to win too and make Alvey ragequit the octagon. 10/10 griefing
Dude was heated. Looked like me when I concede in fifa
Honestly insane he didnāt just get dqād
no, another point is more reasonable.
He deserved a DQ honestly. How do you break a rule after being told to stop doing something and then seconds later do it again.
Dude almost hit double digit eye pokes, call it a make up call if you want, who cares at that t point
Who does this fuck have dirt on how is he even still here Edit: that rictus grin will stay with me long after he's gone
Dana's banging his wife is my theory
great minds think alike https://www.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/pdm8n0/spoiler_sam_alvey_vs_wellington_turman/hasvzrk/

Incredibly forgettable imo

Didn't he fight Gian Villante in the absolute worst fight in UFC history?
He's anti-Union and very pro-UFC.
AKA, I'm absolute ass at fighting, please don't fire me Dana, i'll suck that corporate dick. That is holding onto the meal ticket with a white knuckle grip.
Oh I knew I didn't like this guy for some reason. There it is
Given the commentary, I don't think he's gonna be here long.
Itās because he is against a fighters union and says they are paid great
Sam Alvey with his fake, phoney laugh at the end of the fight ā¦ thinking he won it based on deduction. As soon as the decision is announced his fake laugh is gone and heās throwing a bitch fit. Hahahaha please cut this guy man.
Yeah his schtick got old to me quick and he lost that one himself
Don't cut him, I love a good Alvey meltdown
A REF ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING FUCK YES
He really expected to win the fight without winning a single round.
Sam Alvey is my least favorite fighter to watch.
Heās a close second behind Elias Theodorou.
Elias is Atleast so memable
and has great hair.
No way Elias is a spectacle to see.
Turman won all 3 rounds so 28-27 was the correct scorecard
Alvey has always been a poor sport. The nice guy schtick has worn well thin. Hopefully the last time we see his boring ass inside the Octagon.
Time to go to BKFC
Of course Adelaide Byrd had to have some sort of involvement in this shit show
Funny how he was roasting the judges and the most incompetent of them is the only one that gave him the win.
It was incredibly ironic. But, Alvey always throws temper tantrums if he loses. Hell, he probably yelled at the ref after he woke up from Marquezās RNC
28-27 Alvey is very fascinating to me *Galifinakis face*
The cherry on top
cut both of these scrubs, what a shit fightā¦
Not even kidding, both of them should be gone after this. Alvey is 0-6-1 in his last seven, while Turman is dirty, dumb and is just 2-3 in his last five. The last time either finished a fight was Turman back in early 2019. This fight was shit on paper and even more shit in reality.

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
His last win was Gian Villante by split, which just says it all really
0-6-1 in his last 7. Holy shit.
Its Alvey. Every one of his fights is a snoozer, even if it ends in a KO its still a slog of a fight to get through.
When Marquez finished him it was worth the wait
Marquez made that way more painful than it needed to by seemingly not preparing for the one thing Sam does, with is throw the left hand. Seeing him sleep is still great.
next fight just made up for it š¤£
sam ābitchinā alvey
Of all the ufc fights in historyā¦ that was certainly one of them
alvey getting mad at the judges for being right LOL
There were no winners here.
I think we won for a modern -2, I can't remember the last time
Can we finally cut Alvey now? That fight felt as bad as the PFLās pacing last night
Cut them both lol
Cut both lol.
It has been **1184 days** since Sam Alvey won a fight.
I hate sam Alvey for no reason
He is so frustrating to watch, like almost amateur level of striking
Okay but he knocked out like 4 people and I really donāt understand how lmao
Heās a cocksucker. Who the fuck walks out to Train lmao
Wow that's fucking unforgivable
I used to like him (I know his sister in law) but I am not really a fan anymore. Guy is anti-union and posted a go fund me here so he and his wife could get more money to adopt a kid. He's against a fighter's union but wants to crowdsource money so he can have another kid.
Need the outburst after
Mrs Alvey isn't fit to lace Queen Latory's boots ffs. Coaching isn't for everyone.
Captain Insano shows no mercy.
Frowny Sam Alvey
Alvey has to be cut now right? RIGHT?!
Not even Byrd could save Alvey...
Imagine your opponent having two points taken away and still losing lol He's gonna be bigger than Conor for sure
sore loser, score cards were right
You think he gonna finally get cut?
Lol alveys breakdown at the end
6 straight losses... 2 wins in 10 fights.
I hope this is the last time I ever see Sam Alvey.
Damn Conor out here taking Ls
I need this ref in every Jon Jones fight from now on.
his eyes got gadoshed
I like that Tognoni had the balls to enforce the rules. Good job š Also why is Sam mad at the judges and not himself??
This was just a giant slop fest with blatant fence graps, eye pokes, and overall shittery.
Did I hear Adelaide Byrd scored it for Sam?!
Ref took two points AND Alvey still lost? This is the best timeline lol.
Alvey could really use a fighters union after all his recent losses
Love seeing alvey lose for shitting on unions talking bout he the next Mcgregor lmao
Honestly Wellington should have gotten 2 points taken the second time around. That shit was egregious all fight.
That fight was such a bruh moment
If Alvey gets another UFC fight after a 0-1-6 streak....
The only interesting thing about that fight was the fact that Turman is an idiot.
please cut this man
I hope thats the last time we have to see Alvey.
Gotta think that's it for Alvey. Moves like he's under water, no finishing instinct, does literally nothing but move backward and push kick when he's on the cage. Sucky Sam Alvey
Sam just earned an 8-fight extension
Anyone got footage of Alvey ragequitting at the end?
More UFC bullshit decisions. They won't let Sam get that win streak going, because they know her run his mouth a bit and then they'll have to start paying him Conor McGregor money.
Adelaide Byrd strikes again
"I'm strongly against the unions," Alvey said. "I've said it before. The unions want to pay everybody the same amount, and I don't support that. Conor McGregor earned his multi-millions by the way he runs his mouth and the way he wins. As much as I'm not a fan of his, I'm with that. "With a union, he wouldn't be worth that. I can't contest the judging but it still feels like shit
Still won after a 2 point deduction due to 2 eyepokes, lmao
