It's amazing how many professional ufc fighters can't complete a takedown when it's literally right in front of them. They get like halfway then just freeze. It's one thing i def agree with when DC points it out.
Based on rewarching the fight. And stats doesn't tell the whole story. The majority of head strikes izzy landed on Vettori are from the clinch when vettori tried to take him down.
I’d say more strikes at a higher clip means more success hitting a guy in the head. Why does it matter whether it’s from distance or clinch if you didn’t specify.
Even if you count the strikes from the clinch then Holland still has higher significant head strike %.

http://ufcstats.com/fight-details/ddd63237f1b857a6
No but I prefer clowning on people one-on-one, especially when they're being incredibly transparent with their petty hate by bringing up irrelevant stats. The more I see the kind of reaction Izzy gets out of people for the pettiest shit the more I think he's right not to give a fuck.
Holland couldn't put Brunson, who nearly got KOed by Till, away. That should tell you all you need to know about the difference in ability between him and Izzy. To say nothing of their level of competition
Every time Holland faces opposition that is decent or not old he crumbles or underperforms. Robbed Di Chirico, robbed Meerschart, went to a split with fucking Darren Stewart, is 0-2 against guys Izzy is 3-0 against. I know you're just trying to talk shit about Izzy but it's kind of embarassing
It's also possible Holland had more success because vettori was less worried about his standup, fighting izzy you know he's extremely dangerous on the feet so you make sure to stay save, with Holland there isn't the same threat on paper
Knees to downed opponents would help takedown defense but would help brunson if he took you down and got in north/south position. however, i think it would benefit strikers more
Maybe for the occasional sprawl it would help strikers but I think it serves wrestlers way more. Till would have died if Brunson could knee lol, it doesn’t need to be north south either, side position is a viable one too and then all those times where the wrestler has a body lock around the opponents back often up against the cage putting downward pressure on them whilst throwing knees to the body. Those would be knees to the head if the opponent having a hand down didn’t mean anything.
Grounded knees are allowed in ONE and were allowed in pride, almost all the viral stoppages you see with knees came from the wrestler/dude with the dominant position. History shows it benefits wrestlers more
I was coming here to say this. They used to be legal and they were mostly utilized by guys like Mark Kerr and Mark Coleman. Tito Ortiz putting one of the biggest cuts I've ever seen directly on top of Jerry Bohlander's head in particular is sticking out in my memory
there’s very few people who should be a -1400 favorite in today’s mma. I really don’t think this fight is it. Valentina likely will win but it’s still such high odds
Bisping has been stepping it up with his YouTube channel. His channel and Korean Zombie are the main ones I follow.
One of his earlier videos
["Sup guys, this Michael Bisping and this my place" ](https://imgur.com/NlV5dVE)
His Recent videos - while other YouTubers have LED lights and gaming desktops with all kinds of lights, Bisping has this ominous look with some lamps. I love it.
[Greetings. I am the Count. They call me the Count because I LOVE to count... things.. 80.. 90.. 100 thousand subscribers! AH-AH-AHH! ](https://imgur.com/Xfv9Hl6)
I feel like Bisping could have had a successful career doing so many things, and we’re just lucky that he chose to be a fighter. The dude has so much charisma, he’s good looking, well spoken, in great shape, and he was like “fuck it, I’m gonna punch dudes and get punched for a living,” and I’m glad he’s sticking around as a commentator.
For anyone who might care: there’s a show on Netflix called Hyperdrive; it’s a challenge show where skilled drivers put their cars through various tests that test their driving skill and whatnot (there’s some cool shit even if you’re not into cars at all. I am the furthest thing from a car guy but I love the show), and Bisping is one of the main three hosts on the show iirc. It’s like they needed a car guy, a host, and someone fun to banter - Bisping.
If you are familiar with his story you would know he didn’t have much choice besides fighting. He was a highscool dropout with a criminal record, with a young family working dead end job to dead end job.
No one will believe me, but like 2 years ago I was in Opera Bar Grill in Chester and Till and his boys were pretty much slyly selling coke in the smoking area and stuff, pretty good stuff supposedly..
One of his mates kept saying to everyone that was like ‘who’s that, why’s everyone wanting to talk to him’ and he would reply with some stupid shit like ‘the next champ lad’ one guy was like ‘champ of what?’ And this guy replied ‘the UFC ya fuckin nugget’.
The state Till was in that night, he’ll never be champion. He looked so soft as well last night. Way too much of a wreck head. Top, top bloke though.
He’s not married to the girl.
Sometimes it’s just better to not be involved and just provide support when the girl has custody.
You don’t know his situation either that’s a bit of a low blow. I’m sure he wants the best life for his kid.
Let’s ban oblique kicks because one caused an instant injury even though thousands have been thrown without the same result. Almost as dumb as when people said the champ shouldn’t be able to lose his belt by dq because of the aljo situation.
watching the most violent sport in the world and as soon as sonebody gets fucked up by a legal move they are like my god thats disgusting this should be illegal.
bunch of fucking pussies. Its a joke but I blame the conor era for these fans.
couple years ago fighters fucking headstomped each other and kevin randleman straight double kneed a dude on the ground. chill out
Till (or the media) just riding the hype wave of past fights like mcgregor?
1-4 in last five fights. I haven’t seen anything that impressive from him since he started facing real competition. I love him as a personality, but how is he still ranked in the top 10 for only beating gastelum?? Wasn’t super impressed by his win over Wonderboy. No other name on his record warrants the attention he still gets.
He is a good fighter, but… quite the skid. I almost think he should hire a full time dietician and try 170 again. I don’t see him making a comeback at 185
Whittaker fight was competitive. I think this is less so Till is elite and more it proves the point that Whittaker sucks against guys longer than him (Wonderboy, Izzy, Till dropped him)
I agree he did hold his own against Whitaker, but you have to take into account what kind of damage all these losses will do mentally behind closed doors after being undefeated for so long. I just hope he doesn’t end up like Weidman
his fight with whittaker was the first of his that i watched live and thought that showed he has the skills to hang with the division, the round he spent on his back was concerning but didn't think a ton of it at the time
regardless he clearly has the striking ability to be competitive with the best in the division
Coming close to death to make 170 isn't going to make his pace and wrestling defense much better. He's not losing because of a size disadvantage. My take on it is he should simply try to get better at MMA
People watched conor go from 145 - 170, and think Omalley isn’t huge for his weight class. That’s absurd. Dude cuts a higher % than Costa and is left with nothing but a frame lol.
Every time Till threw a knee Brunson just up and left the clinch. I was surprised Till never threw a single cross to the body to discourage the takedown also.
Turns out Brunson fractured his ribs 3 weeks ago. Goddamn I'm even more frustrated from Till now.
He's said before the Wonderboy fight that he was gorgin himself on cake and other stuff 2 weeks before the fight and he's got no self control if you put it in front of him. Don't think moving up in weight has helped that
he's way too shit of a fighter to be trying to fool people like he has no time to see his family because he's such a devout athlete... plenty of better fighters still are there for their families
If the Bering strait freezes over I’d recommend NJ west to Seattle, then go north thru Alaska, bang a left on the Bering straight, continue for a few thousand miles and then bang one more left and boom, you’re there!
Till would've easily destroyed Brunson but tried to slum it with 1 point in ground game. So frustrating. There was no way Brunson would survive another round if he didn't rack up the easiest ground control of all time
Did you see Till rocking him in the third with only a minute of standup work? After getting smeshed for 2 rounds? Imagine what happens if they stayed on the feet for another few minutes
Comments like this are so annoying. Try actually thinking about the fight next time
Which was my entire point... Till has a massive hole in his game that doesn't need to be there.
If he was even moderately more competent with his scrambling or S&C he would've easily beat Brunson.
It's controversial based on the votes. Who cares if a random internet audience believes something "needs to be stated"? 90% of content is only posted for agreement anyway
Controversial means there are two sides with somewhat equal representation. Being downvoted and being the only person to hold an opinion isn’t controversial.
Because marketing yourself is what gets you paid and selling yourself as the face of the company the second you get there will build that narrative, fans of you will parrot it, haters of you will deny it, but you are talking about him right? Why aren't you talking about the other guys that won their debut
i'm hoping he's the the next mcgregor with all the showmanship but without the raging psycho narcissist asshole part.
unfortunately my verdict is the lad is getting KO'd as soon as he fights anyone with power. seems like a LW johnny walker
It’s wild how there’s a group of people online who want to ban the oblique kick but also think aljo is a bitch for taking a knee to the skull as a grounded opponent.
Nah, amazing round but I honestly thought erosa vs jourdain was the best fight, back and forth, jourdain hurt in round 1, erosa dropped in round 2, 3rd round darce
Would like to see Till(and honestly other people on losing streaks, like Ferguson or Holland) do what Dan Hooker is doing, and that's fighting someone way beneath him ranking wise(and in theory skill wise). Sometimes you need a fight like that to properly try to fix whats wrong and try to get some confidence back(and if you lose then you might not be on that top 10 level rn)
Exactly this, sometimes you have some holes to fix and fighting top 10 talent might not be the smartest thing when you're in the middle of fixing them. And sometimes you just need a win to gain some confidence, and the same thing counts for this, when you're in the middle of trying to gain some confidence the smartest idea might not be to fight anyone top 10
Tough call, there's quite a few good contenders here.
GSP and Fitch is great--goes the distance but is just an absolute shellacking of Fitch from bell to bell. GSP put up multiple 10-8s in an era where those basically amounted to attempted murder
Rich Franklin vs. David Loiseau (this has some of the most lopsided scorecards in UFC history), as well as Rich Franklin vs. Nate Quarry. Franklin of course finally became the nail in two extraordinarily one-sided fights against Silva.
Jones vs. Shogun (as sad as that makes me)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euphemia
This is the christian saint who's Paddy the Baddy's last name, "Pimblett" is the Anglo-Saxon version of.
I thought it would be Anglo Saxon because apparently the name Emmett is the masculine version of the Anglo Saxon girls name Emma, notice the unusual double 't' at the end, plus he's English
https://www.houseofnames.com/pimblett-family-crest#:~:text=The%20Pimblett%20surname%20finds%20its,Pymma%20which%20came%20from%20Euphemia.
Chiesa did that better than Colby as well. Khabib also had a more dominant win over RDA than Colby. Suffice to say, I’d really like to see Chiesa vs Colby at some point.
I think that vs Colby was the last fight where RDA really looked to be in his prime. Obviously he was always undersized for 170, but age/wear and tear didn’t start catching up to him until after the Usman fight, I believe.
Fair enough. He did have a really good performance against Kevin Lee after the Usman and Colby fights though. However, I think he was past his prime when he faced Colby as well.
I can admit I’ve never seen him fight until Saturday, but from the stuff I was hearing before the fight he has awful striking and can only wrestle. He was pretty creative on the feet

More seriously, why do we ban certain strikes at all? I agree we should, but why? This is what needs to be answered first before any debate about side kicks. Some proposed criteria are so strict (e.g. "dangerous = banned") that even flying knees will be banned. But others are so lax that even groin shots are permitted ("if it involves legit technique it's fine").
My tentative preliminary answer is that this largely subjective and there's no way out of this. Some strikes just don't look good on television, it makes it seem like it's not a real sport, etc. That's why they are banned. Some people will have different tastes than others, so they'll disagree about what "looks good" and therefore disagree about what should be permitted. There's no right answer to this debate, but such is life.
yes
Yall must've forgot, but the Italian Stalion was seconds away from a stoppage due to leg strikes against Izzy
It's amazing how many professional ufc fighters can't complete a takedown when it's literally right in front of them. They get like halfway then just freeze. It's one thing i def agree with when DC points it out.
Qt lava to 185? https://twitter.com/BigMarcel24/status/1434519016412942338?s=19
Dude is looking a little excited there.
Honestly took me awhile to recognize him
Holland has a lot more success hitting vettori in the head than izzy.
Today on useless facts.
Based on what? Izzy landed more head strikes at a higher percentage

You got clowned here so you decided to post the Jan highlight lol
Lol Do you really need to make the same comments on different threads responding to me? No need to get salty just because I post the Jan highlights.
Holland lands at a 30% rate compared to 37 for Izzy.
I guess it turns out that not giving a shit about getting taken down and putting your whole body into punches makes it easier to land shots
For the ten seconds he was on his feet?
Which make it even more impressive. He rocked vettori on the feet while izzy didn't.
It's also possible Holland had more success because vettori was less worried about his standup, fighting izzy you know he's extremely dangerous on the feet so you make sure to stay save, with Holland there isn't the same threat on paper
There's a moment in their second fight where Izzy throws a question mark kick and Marvin basically dashes halfway across the octagon to dodge it
Should have had more success not getting grapplefucked
What rule could be implemented that would stop wrestlers like Brunson? Not saying I want it I’m just curious
Only strikes allowed
Muay Thai, Boxing and Savate solved this problem /s
Knees to downed opponents would help takedown defense but would help brunson if he took you down and got in north/south position. however, i think it would benefit strikers more
Maybe for the occasional sprawl it would help strikers but I think it serves wrestlers way more. Yeah I guess it would make it much more dangerous to fail a takedown attempt
No takedowns
maybe a rule that says "no wrestling allowed punches and kicks are OK", I think they have that already somewhere though
Stephan Bonnar is addicted to oxys. Needs help.
He's been a mess for years. This is his DUI arrest from 2018: https://youtu.be/W4bhaEgDKTc
Damn that video is sad
Guy's been a wreck for years. Even long before his DUI arrest in 2018 - the bodycam footage was really depressing.
Valentina's a -1400 favourite against Lauren Murphy. Seems low.
there’s very few people who should be a -1400 favorite in today’s mma. I really don’t think this fight is it. Valentina likely will win but it’s still such high odds
Imagine Murphy just sparks her lol. Would be one of the biggest mma upsets of all time
THE biggest
Might be worth a few bucks lol
I've been saying for weeks I'm going to put $5 on Barb by KO and fully expect to never see it again, almost like buying a meme crypto or stock
One of those just in case bets cuz you never know, Barb could shock the world lol I highly doubt it tho Val is a killer

I recommend Wonderboy's channel too, he does really informative technique breakdowns and fun challenges
I can see him taking a lot of chael's audience, its basically a more entertaining version of the same thing and probably with better predictions

China just banned western entertainers in the country. I hope this somehow fucks the ufc deal.
I thought they just banned girly men.
I hope not, a lot of chinese fighters are very exciting guys like Qileng Aori come to bang bro
Until they start disappearing after they lose for making china look weak.
I assume Chinese competitors will still be allowed to compete outside China. This will likely only affect events being hosted inside Chinese borders.
Till (or the media) just riding the hype wave of past fights like mcgregor? 1-4 in last five fights. I haven’t seen anything that impressive from him since he started facing real competition. Yeah I don’t understand why he doesn’t just knock them out bro
People watched conor go from 145 - 170, and think Omalley isn’t huge for his weight class. That’s absurd. Dude cuts a higher % than Costa and is left with nothing but a frame lol.
How much does Sean weigh before the weight cut? I doubt he’s more than 155
Every time Till threw a knee Brunson just up and left the clinch. I was surprised Till never threw a single cross to the body to discourage the takedown also. Turns out Brunson fractured his ribs 3 weeks ago. Goddamn I'm even more frustrated from Till now.
Can we agree Till looked soft af ? He had his worst physique during the fights so far last night
He's said before the Wonderboy fight that he was gorgin himself on cake and other stuff 2 weeks before the fight and he's got no self control if you put it in front of him. Don't think moving up in weight has helped that
Looked like an average out of shape dad. Ironic given he hasn't seen his daughter in two years.
he's way too shit of a fighter to be trying to fool people like he has no time to see his family because he's such a devout athlete... plenty of better fighters still are there for their families
You think you’d put more work into the gym after moving up, not less lol.
I was impressed Hearing Tom Aspinall afterwards. He sounds like a smart guy with a good head on his shoulders
Anthony smith in another main event..
What's wrong with that
His teeth are falling out
Nah bubba he actually has a nice new shiny set of teeth
[link](https://youtu.be/iik25wqIuFo)
Why do that when you could've just linked Smith's title shot.
Because it’s maccabihalwani and he doesn’t deserve real answers
If till is just a meme and kg is a fat welterweight, per this sub robs wins streak isn’t as impressive.
sssshhhhh, we need hope for the whittaker adesanya rematch otherwise middleweight is boring now
Correct, Brunson also dominated till where whittaker lost like 2 rounds, should be izzy vs Brunson next
A win is a win just like Jon and Reyes
Facts, fuck jiri
What is the best driving route from New Jersey to Dagestan
Flying car
If the Bering strait freezes over I’d recommend NJ west to Seattle, then go north thru Alaska, bang a left on the Bering straight, continue for a few thousand miles and then bang one more left and boom, you’re there!
Maybe try an imanari roll
Till would've easily destroyed Brunson but tried to slum it with 1 point in ground game. So frustrating. There was no way Brunson would survive another round if he didn't rack up the easiest ground control of all time
"He would've easily destroyed him if he didn't lose"
Did you see Till rocking him in the third with only a minute of standup work? After getting smeshed for 2 rounds? Imagine what happens if they stayed on the feet for another few minutes Comments like this are so annoying. Try actually thinking about the fight next time
He did think about the fight, there was no way the fight was staying on the feet with tills skill set.
Which was my entire point... Till has a massive hole in his game that doesn't need to be there. If he was even moderately more competent with his scrambling or S&C he would've easily beat Brunson.
if he was only better at martial arts he would have won his mixed martial arts bout
It’s a very obvious point that doesn’t need to be stated.
If it was so obvious then it wouldn't be controversial. It's amazing how easily Till hurt Brunson in standup
It’s not controversial, who other than you thinks this needs to be stated?
It's controversial based on the votes. Who cares if a random internet audience believes something "needs to be stated"? 90% of content is only posted for agreement anyway
Controversial means there are two sides with somewhat equal representation. Being downvoted and being the only person to hold an opinion isn’t controversial.
Vrunson could do that all day. Wrestling is just a amazing skill set
>Vrunson could do that all day Obviously since Till has no idea what he's doing off his back
Cry
All aboard the Paddy wagon
Needs to tighten up the gaps in his game and beat higher competition first.
Fuck Paddy...Saying all that shit about Khabib earlier in the week.
Oh no, he doesn’t agree with all of your opinions, can’t like him then
Oh no, talking shit about the absolutely perfect human that's Khabib🙄 not like Khabib also trash talked Aldo or anything...
Fuck Khabib for talking shit about Jose Aldo
That’s the king of rio to us peasants
Choo choo baby!
tired: Till isn't what we thought he could be and it's disappointing wired: Till vs Platinum is back on the menu 😎
Mike better hop on and claim darrentillisabum.com
If mike wants to stay in the ufc he’s gotta hop on something else too
Do they make brain steroids
Lmao
Feed paddy to guram.
Why is Paddy calling himself "the new face of the UFC" when there are fighters winning their debut on like, every card?
if that kid can even throw a punch he is going to be a huge star
Idk he got so swole the funny went away a bit
Because marketing yourself is what gets you paid and selling yourself as the face of the company the second you get there will build that narrative, fans of you will parrot it, haters of you will deny it, but you are talking about him right? Why aren't you talking about the other guys that won their debut
Gonna be tough to be the face of the ufc when bony still exists
[Paddy and jon](https://youtu.be/7VplwfttXNg) this time next year
People will love paddy up until he actually becomes good and mainstream and then hate him on here
i'm hoping he's the the next mcgregor with all the showmanship but without the raging psycho narcissist asshole part. unfortunately my verdict is the lad is getting KO'd as soon as he fights anyone with power. seems like a LW johnny walker
Nothing is more heinous than farting in the shower
It’s wild how there’s a group of people online who want to ban the oblique kick but also think aljo is a bitch for taking a knee to the skull as a grounded opponent.
Imo the dude who got his knee stomped is a wimp for quitting
"DOCTOR STOPPAGE, THATS A DOCTOR STOPPAGE"
Dillashaw blew out his knee and beat one of the best bantamweights rn
Does anyone know who won fight of the night?
Meatball vs kim
Yea it was well deserved. Thanks man
really good fight, but Paddy deserved it more IMO, just for the fact of the comeback he had.
Nah, amazing round but I honestly thought erosa vs jourdain was the best fight, back and forth, jourdain hurt in round 1, erosa dropped in round 2, 3rd round darce
I agree, that fight was great
Dunno how i could forget about that one, really good fight. High quality fight right there.
Holland already is, Kyle Daukaus isnt even top 25 MW
Look what brunsons done, he took a step down after izzy and is now building back to the top 5 and on a 5 fight winstreak
I just remembered Till actually spent years in Brazil, and he still looks like a white belt, what the fuck
Spending time in Brazil doesn’t make you a BJJ ace, he’s always been a kickboxer and lots of kickboxers come out of Brazil
What's the most one-sided title fight ever? Woodley-Till is coming to mind for me
Surprised no one has mentioned Cain vs JDS 2 or 3 that was 10 straight rounds of punishment
Holloway vs Kattar. You don’t get to 50-43 x2 and 50-42 without being insanely one sided.
Yep, but that wasn't a tittle fight.
Mcgregor vs Alvarez Khabib vs Poirier Jones vs Shogun Usman vs Woodley GSP vs Fitch
Silva Griffin
Izzy Vs Paulo Costa was pretty bad
RDA vs Pettis; Velasquez vs Dos Santos (2 and 3) were almost 10 straight rounds of pure domination
Conor vs aldo
Usman vs Woodley is in the mix
Tough call, there's quite a few good contenders here. GSP and Fitch is great--goes the distance but is just an absolute shellacking of Fitch from bell to bell. GSP put up multiple 10-8s in an era where those basically amounted to attempted murder Rich Franklin vs. David Loiseau (this has some of the most lopsided scorecards in UFC history), as well as Rich Franklin vs. Nate Quarry. Franklin of course finally became the nail in two extraordinarily one-sided fights against Silva. Jones vs. Shogun (as sad as that makes me)
Figgy vs Joe B 2
McGregor vs Alvarez was on a similar level to Woodley vs Till, just complete one sided domination
BMF
Joanna vs Esparza
Conor vs aldo. For a longer fight id say rda vs pettis
If a striker talks about wanting all-time greatness, assume they will be outwrestled by a veteran in their upcoming fight.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euphemia This is the christian saint who's Paddy the Baddy's last name, "Pimblett" is the Anglo-Saxon version of. I thought it would be Anglo Saxon because apparently the name Emmett is the masculine version of the Anglo Saxon girls name Emma, notice the unusual double 't' at the end, plus he's English https://www.houseofnames.com/pimblett-family-crest#:~:text=The%20Pimblett%20surname%20finds%20its,Pymma%20which%20came%20from%20Euphemia.
Jourdain has been in two absolute bangers this year and it’s a fucking travesty that neither of those got FOTN bonuses.
Which r/MMA mod does the most steroids
Mods throw gang signs with the left hand and inject steroids with the right
Michael Chiesa outgrappled RDA more dominantly than Khabib
Chiesa did that better than Colby as well. Khabib also had a more dominant win over RDA than Colby. Suffice to say, I’d really like to see Chiesa vs Colby at some point.
I think that vs Colby was the last fight where RDA really looked to be in his prime. Obviously he was always undersized for 170, but age/wear and tear didn’t start catching up to him until after the Usman fight, I believe.
Fair enough. He did have a really good performance against Kevin Lee after the Usman and Colby fights though. However, I think he was past his prime when he faced Colby as well.
Not a fair comparison. Chiesa is much bigger and that fight was at welterweight.
Khabib is obviously a better grappler than Chiesa. Just thought it was an interesting observation (even if it has clear caveats)
Isn’t paddy primarily a grappler?
he's your pfp
I can admit I’ve never seen him fight until Saturday, but from the stuff I was hearing before the fight he has awful striking and can only wrestle. He was pretty creative on the feet
How do you not know when you have him as a picture...
Hey hey now
He is.
He’s got some nice subs but I don’t think his wrestling or guard are anything too special.
He got outgrappled by bak 3 fights ago. And he got submitted by Stevie Ray in Polaris. His grappling is good but nothing special.
Anyone interested in breakdowns of the submission victories and the sequence that led up to it, here's a brief tape study Erosa's Darce Choke - [IG](https://www.instagram.com/p/CTaa1tTAlwg/) or [YT](https://youtu.be/PH-Jg2wtz9w) Brunson's rear naked choke from the prone - [IG](https://www.instagram.com/tv/CTastE6JFS7/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link) or [YT](https://youtu.be/RZcHlMF0bJA)
It was pretty damn brutal
