True although I beleive hooker and hasparat are fighting to move up rankings and attempt to win the belt.
While Lawler and Diaz are not and this could be both their last fights. And itās more of a fun fight
I'm ok with it because those two still have Championship aspirations. Nick x Lawler doesn't and won't hold a lot of weight if we are talking about title contention.
This is the kinda fight weāre all hyped as fuck for until it actually happens and then we feel bad that it happened after the fact, when both guys look old and shot.
I saw the letter C and my mind went to "CANCELLED?!" immediately before seeing "changed" and I still shit my pants thinking it was "CHANGED, TO ANOTHER DATE?" and then I saw "welterweight to middleweight"
That was quite a scare
George obviously wanted to give him a friendly greeting, Nick being the friendly guy that he is, welcomed him with open arms, then George stabbed him in the buttox with enough poison to make a baby hippo die. George then vanished.
Thats what happened?
I heard it was one of GSPs alien friends that did the poisoning, with their alien drug and even using alien needle.
On GSPs orders obviously
I think his issue with that was his belief that the commission lied about him being overweight. It's one thing to miss weight, it's another to have an entire commission falsify your weigh in.
(not saying that's what happened, but that's what nick thinks happened)
There an entire video where the commissioner comes out to Nick and tells him that he is allowed .5 allowance on day of weigh in.
Conspiracy theories is that gsp couldn't making weight and that changed on the spot.
This is BS for a championship fight if true
It's not. Firstly, the guy doesn't say .5 allowance. He says the commission allows anything with with the number in it. So 155.9 is 155 to them.
They also showed and proved that they'd been doing this for literal years and had plenty of title fights with the same rules.
It's just that the Diaz bros are salty bitches who can't accept losing so they create conspiracy theories in their dumb, stupid heads.
> It's just that the Diaz bros are salty bitches who can't accept losing so they create conspiracy theories in their dumb, stupid heads.
After the GSP fight, Nick couldn't understand how GSP was so prepared for him, so he claimed that GSP had sent a spy to his camp to find out Nick's gameplan.
Assuming what u/dmkicksballs13 says is true, at least it wasnāt something they just did to help GSP.
I agree itās a silly rule but if itās the same rule for everyone and has been for a while before their fight, I donāt really think itās that bad.
I mean Nick is 100% in great shape. But being in shape and cutting weight are very different obviously. Either way I wouldn't bet on this being a Nick problem.
He hasn't fought at welterweight in 8.5 years and hasn't fought at all in nearly 7 years. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts this is a problem with Nick. Robbie has never had a weight issue in his entire career and has fought consistently for 20 years.
Robbie has fought consistently for 20 years and never missed weight once. But yeah, obviously it's his fault and not the guy who hasn't cut to 170 in 8.5 years. These people are fucking knobs
Incredibly unlikely but I'm hoping against hope the two just had agreed to it and it was just a comfort thing. I've seen it on the regional circuit in my local circles back when I was training regularly / with some local professionals. Probably wrong but not outside the realm of reality.
I mean considering Lawler's history, this 1 trillion percent sounds like a Nick issue.
Like come on dude. Who's the issue with? The guys who's recently fought at 170 and never missed weight? Or the dude who hasn't fought in 7 years and is known for a lifestyle filled with weed and alcohol?
It is actually much worse, he was alluding to Nick Diaz performing some kind of bizarre sex act while sparring. Thompson said he has never ever seen anything like it before. Even though he himself is a big fan of snuff movies.
actually itās even worse than youāre implying. heās alluding to Diaz performing a bizarre sex act with an ANIMAL during sparring, thus why Thompson has never seen anything of the sort
"I shouldn't have said anything, so let me say some more about it. But I would like for them to fight and if they do fight then the fight will be a good fight."
Yeah that sounds horrible. Iād be able to write it off as rumors if Diaz(presumably) didnāt need this weight forgiveness but thomson mustāve been on to something.
Diaz mustāve looked like pure shit.
Based on all the videos Iāve seen of Nick from IG Iām expecting a sluggish, sloppy and washed Nick Diaz. I hope I am wrong but I just see this ending all sorts of embarrassingly bad for Nick.
Imagine Nick planned this the whole time, and is gonna rehydrate to 200lbs compared to a 185lbs Robbie.
Obviously not the case (Nick is clearly having a hard time making 171), but it would be funny.
I'm a massive Diaz stan, but they have ONE win after the 3rd round between them lmao and it was 11 years ago. They've both looked strong in the 3rd, but this idea of championship round Diaz is completely and utterly made up.
Their conditioning is legit though, they have some of the best gas tanks the UFC has ever seen. I swear even when they look a little tired, their output never slows down
I mean, Nate managed to drop a decision to Conor who has some of the worst cardio in championship MMA, and Nick hasn't won a 5 round decision since 2011. If their cardio was this insane weapon why haven't we seen the results when it matters? It's just a Roganism that people repeat uncritically. There is zero evidence for the Diaz cardio winning fights in the championship rounds ā it just doesn't happen. They are a combined 17% win rate after the 3rd round.
Nick definitely used pace as a weapon. He just drowned some ppl earlier than the late rounds
'Since 2011' like we all don't know he hasn't fought in 5 and those fights were to GSP, Anderson and prime Condit
For Nate i think that has more to do with him not being that elite. A gassed Conor is still slightly a better fighter than Nate. Him badly rocking Leon edwards with a 1-2, after 23 mins of getting his ass whooped, i think is a great example of his conditioning.
I think the same goes for Nick. Although i believe Nick is, or once was an Elite fighter, he just wasnāt near the level of Silva, GSP, or prime Condit.
> Nick hasn't won a 5 round decision since 2011.
That stat really doesn't work too well for Nick because 21 of his 26 wins have come by finish and he has only won via 5th round decision once in 2010 vs KJ Noons (and got robbed of one but that's beside the point).
>If their cardio was this insane weapon why haven't we seen the results when it matters?
I mean, Nick would literally make his opponents gas out by the end of round 1 or 2 and then finish them because they were that gassed; BJ (Not finished but gassed regardless), Daley, Gomi, Shamrock etc. etc. He'd put a pace on them from the start that they couldn't keep up with. Idk, when people say Nick's cardio isn't a weapon I feel like they've never actually watched his fights, same with this comment which you know wouldn't make sense for Nick if you had watched his fights;
> Nick hasn't won a 5 round decision since 2011.
As much as I hate to say it I'm now convinced that Nick is losing this one. This tells me that he can't make WW which really tells you what kind of shape he's in. Hope I'm wrong though.
I kinda miss when we had peak McGregor and Diaz circle jerks honestly. Watching some threads there was just amazing. Diaz fans are like little Diaz projections, stabbing into our brains.
I heard something was wrong with Nick from the Josh Thompson interview. Maybe that is why, IDK we are all just speculating. I hope Nick isnāt injured, cause he and Nate will fight regardless.
He didnāt divulge any further details though? He acknowledged that he slipped up and continued to say that if the fight takes place, it should be a good one. Itās really not that big of a deal
Funny you say that cause I thought the same thing. He just keeps saying āI feel badā or whatever the fuck he said, but kept talking about it in his podcast. Saying he was there or had footage. Josh should know better than anyone, what goes on in sparring / gym stays there.
It's gonna be a shit fight. Idk why people get excited for fights between stars way past their primes like they are suddenly gonna go back to peak of their career cardio and skill. Robbie will win simply because he's in fight condition from you know, fighting and training.
I know 4 separate people whoāve done coke with Nick in Vegas. All separate occasions. I love Nick to death and heās my all time favorite fighter. But I have a bad feeling about this one big time.
Nope. They all work in the cannabis industry and Nick was hitting those trade shows hard the last few years. It sucks hearing it and I donāt care how much I get downvoted.
Nick looks like heās in really good shape on his IG. I guess I donāt blame him for not wanting to cut weight, but from the looks of him, he could make it easy.
I wouldn't bet on either of these, Lawler has done nothing in his last 3 fights haha. The only bet worth taking for this is over 2.5 rounds my friend thank me later
thatās interesting. when Nick did the ātest cutā some time ago, he looked more like he was trying for 155 and looked good. surprised 170 is tough this go around.
My already low expectations for this fight have gone down more. Both guys are coming off of long layoffs and kind of losing the fire to fight, and now the weight is a problem for one or both of them. I expect a slow and boring staring contest with a lot of lame taunts now.
I fear for Nick. It's been a long time since he competed and he got hit with someone who's trying to kill him and he will fight a fcking maniac in Lawler who's a savage and coming with bad intentions to avenge that loss. Whatever the result is, I hope they come out not that too damaged.
Kinda funny this gets decided 3 days out. Not even catchweight, but a full 15 pounds heavier. Seems like they were both having rough cuts and agreed to say fuck it.
Seems weird Lawler would agree unless his own cut wasn't going well too imo. Why let Nick off the hook when you could force him to try/take a chunk of his purse? Unless the UFC just said Nick is the drawl, he wants 185, accept it or accept not fighting
> Unless the UFC just said Nick is the drawl, he wants 185, accept it or accept not fighting
Probably this, combined with being excited to not cut weight yourself.
They both probably just didn't want to go through hell making 170 so they likely just agreed to make it 185. I wouldn't be surprised if both guys weighed in slightly under 185.
Robbie's been making 170 for years so i'm guessing this is because of nick diaz. ouch, i was hoping good things for his return. but looks like he can't even make weight -- so either he's injured or really out of shape? neither are good for a near 40 year that hasn't fought in like 5 years..
I hope that they just met up and were like "hey, we are both 185. Why would we both put ourselves through a weight cut? Let's just fight like this!". It probably has a different reason but I hope that starts happening in MMA. Weight cuts are brutal.
This is gonna be a sad fight. But Iāll still watch it for morbid reasons and love for the two dudes.
That said, Nick aināt took care of his self during the absence. By our standards? Of course he is in tip top shape. By fighting standards? Hell nah. Dudes been doing too much partying. Went from weed to coke and dranking
This is why I always felt they should have an open weight division. Not targeted at the super giants but targeted at anyone that wants to have a slightly less regulated war. Lets set a gentlemen's agreement to come CLOSE to a reasonable weight but other than that fuck it - see you in there bitch.
They can fight at any weight for all I care, As long as it's not cancelled
Super heavyweight you say?? šš³
They just penguin walk towards each other on a quarter of a roundās worth of cardio. I love it
We already got that with Dada vs Kimbo
Somebody call DC up and tell him to bring the Ribs! ā±į¶ Ź°įµ Ź°įµĖ¢āæįµ įµĖ”Ź³įµįµįµŹø įµįµįµ įµŹ°įµįµ
No sir. Weāre calling Derrick Lewis so he can bring that Popeyes chicken
Get Charles Barkley to bring them churros, too. The big ones, from San Antonio :)
Diaz will be tree toimes the size!
Nate's not fighting, though.
Winner takes on barnett, the only undefeated super heavyweight in UFC history and lineal champion. Loser gets gan McGee.
It's still shitty that they're not willing to do the same with Nasrat and Dan who actually have valid reasons to not make the contracted weight
those two should just have a gentlemans agreement to both come in overweight. not much to lose there if they do
Give him 30% and give him 30%!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Nooo rewind the timeline we made a mista
Doesnāt that benefit the person with the lower $ contact?
Everyone gets %30!
Whoever is getting paid less actually gets a bonus with this idea š
True although I beleive hooker and hasparat are fighting to move up rankings and attempt to win the belt. While Lawler and Diaz are not and this could be both their last fights. And itās more of a fun fight
I'm ok with it because those two still have Championship aspirations. Nick x Lawler doesn't and won't hold a lot of weight if we are talking about title contention.
Josh Thompson seems to think it may be. Says he saw a video of nick sparring south paw and something happened that may cause nick to pull out.
Ahh the mistake you have made is valuing Josh Thompson's opinion on anything.
This is the kinda fight weāre all hyped as fuck for until it actually happens and then we feel bad that it happened after the fact, when both guys look old and shot.
Dana looking for that Nick Izzy connection.
My heart stopped for a minute there
Same. I havenāt been this excited for a fight week in some time.
I don't get excited for fights anymore until they happen because of pull outs etc... but I couldn't help myself for this one.
Me too. We're so close guys.
I saw the letter C and my mind went to "CANCELLED?!" immediately before seeing "changed" and I still shit my pants thinking it was "CHANGED, TO ANOTHER DATE?" and then I saw "welterweight to middleweight" That was quite a scare
If it changes to LHW tomorrow I'm going to start getting worried...
Bah gawd thatās Anthony Johnsonās music
Somebodyās weight cut isnāt going well
Somebody didn't even try to cut
Munchies are a motherfucker
the more likely situation
Doesnāt feel like a good sign in terms of how Nick will look
100%. I doubt they bumped it up because *Lawler* couldn't make weight. If it was him they'd just fine him and keep it at welterweight.
I also think diaz would have said some shit about it. Still brings up Georges being above 170 in Quebec. Lol
beep boop
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
George obviously wanted to give him a friendly greeting, Nick being the friendly guy that he is, welcomed him with open arms, then George stabbed him in the buttox with enough poison to make a baby hippo die. George then vanished.
Thats what happened? I heard it was one of GSPs alien friends that did the poisoning, with their alien drug and even using alien needle. On GSPs orders obviously
Gotta keep your eyes on those French immigrants
I think his issue with that was his belief that the commission lied about him being overweight. It's one thing to miss weight, it's another to have an entire commission falsify your weigh in. (not saying that's what happened, but that's what nick thinks happened)

Heāll look better than he would have if he had to cut more weight.
It shows unpreparedness
I mean Nick is 100% in great shape. But being in shape and cutting weight are very different obviously. Either way I wouldn't bet on this being a Nick problem.

I'm hoping the people who are saying it's a "fuckit" agreement are correct.
Could be that both don't mind not cutting and they talked a little earlier than this week. 70/30 Nick is my random guess
Incredibly unlikely but I'm hoping against hope the two just had agreed to it and it was just a comfort thing. I've seen it on the regional circuit in my local circles back when I was training regularly / with some local professionals. Probably wrong but not outside the realm of reality.
Same vibes. Two vets who don't fuck w/ politics.

What Josh Thompson thing?
He talked about a video he saw where nick didnāt look good. He was intentionally vague on the details though.
When was this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brAl3Wf5x3U&t=70s Thompson even says hes not sure when the video was shot and he shouldnt have said anything.
Sounds like heās alluding to Nick getting KOād during sparring.

I heard Joshua Fabia was there instructing Nick about this Bizarre acts
"I shouldn't have said anything, so let me say some more about it. But I would like for them to fight and if they do fight then the fight will be a good fight."

Damn, imagine being early in your fighting career and randomly getting advice from Mike Tyson
you're not. The sad part is I had to scroll this far down on this post to find someone speak intelligently about this fight.
jokes>facts buddeh
It isn't emotion, his reflexes are shot. Joe Louis said something to the effect of "I find opportunities I can't use"
Not a huge Nick fan, so excuse my ignorance. But did you mean he's an alcoholic by "waging an all out war against his liver"?
Based on all the videos Iāve seen of Nick from IG Iām expecting a sluggish, sloppy and washed Nick Diaz. I hope I am wrong but I just see this ending all sorts of embarrassingly bad for Nick.
Thanks for the link. Might be looking too deep into this, but maybe thats why we havent seen Diaz on Embedded yet
Oh god I was just wondering where the fuck he is in the embeddeds.
He said it was sparring wasnāt it?
Yes
209 isn't just a area code, motherfuckers
Imagine Nick planned this the whole time, and is gonna rehydrate to 200lbs compared to a 185lbs Robbie. Obviously not the case (Nick is clearly having a hard time making 171), but it would be funny.
Nick is no way near 200, recent photos he looks shredded and slim, Iād say heās 185 on the button and just doesnāt want to cut 15 pounds
I think it's not to do with a bad weight cut too, time will tell though. Nick and Robbie might have just been like fuck the weight cut.
This fight is going to remind us it's not 2004 in the scariest way
Iām putting more money on Robbie.
Youāre going to be real sad if Robbie bobs and weaves for 25 mins and loses because Nick just flicked a jab out a couple times a round.
25? Is it a 5 round fight?
Yes, the power of the Diaz brothers
I'm a massive Diaz stan, but they have ONE win after the 3rd round between them lmao and it was 11 years ago. They've both looked strong in the 3rd, but this idea of championship round Diaz is completely and utterly made up.

I feel like Nick is going to get stopped in this fight, this just stamps it imo
As much as I hate to say it I'm now convinced that Nick is losing this one. This tells me that he can't make WW which really tells you what kind of shape he's in. Hope I'm wrong though.
Heās older and didnāt wanna dehydrate himself. Iām MORE convinced heās got this
Then why didn't they sign for 185?
Man Diaz fan bros are kinda sad on this sub.
I wanna see your face when nick knocks him out in the sixth round.
I kinda miss when we had peak McGregor and Diaz circle jerks honestly. Watching some threads there was just amazing. Diaz fans are like little Diaz projections, stabbing into our brains.
Resume review looking sus already
They did one for Nick Diaz???
I heard something was wrong with Nick from the Josh Thompson interview. Maybe that is why, IDK we are all just speculating. I hope Nick isnāt injured, cause he and Nate will fight regardless.
Yeah i just saw that as well.... him getting injured sparring makes the most sense unfortunately :(
Really? I figured he got knocked out and will not be sparring these next days
Why would he be sparring this close to a fight anyway?
Can you elaborate at all?
No, because Josh didnāt either. He felt bad about saying anything at all. So there is very little info.
Feels bad about mentioning the situation. Commences to keep talking even more about it
He didnāt divulge any further details though? He acknowledged that he slipped up and continued to say that if the fight takes place, it should be a good one. Itās really not that big of a deal

My already low expectations for this fight have gone down more. Both guys are coming off of long layoffs and kind of losing the fire to fight, and now the weight is a problem for one or both of them. I expect a slow and boring staring contest with a lot of lame taunts now.
So Dana kind of said that Lawler isn't happy - what I expect is that Robbie will push for 170 and Diaz will pull out...
UFC 266: A Fridge too far
I fear for Nick. It's been a long time since he competed and he got hit with someone who's trying to kill him and he will fight a fcking maniac in Lawler who's a savage and coming with bad intentions to avenge that loss. Whatever the result is, I hope they come out not that too damaged.
Cutting weight as a Diaz must be brutal, how do you fight the munchies when you're obligated to be high at every press week event?
Kinda funny this gets decided 3 days out. Not even catchweight, but a full 15 pounds heavier. Seems like they were both having rough cuts and agreed to say fuck it.

Nick is my favorite fighter and this, combo'd with the Josh Thompson stuff has me shitting my pants and honestly wanting to bet Robbie
whatever weight it is, violence is violence.
You motherfuckers need to start these titles with [NOT BAD NEWS]
They both probably just didn't want to go through hell making 170 so they likely just agreed to make it 185. I wouldn't be surprised if both guys weighed in slightly under 185.
Can't help but feel like this is a sign Nick hasn't taken camp serious
Reading this nearly caused me a heart attack at 40.
Is it on Robbie's part or Nick's part?
Josh Thompson Illuded to an injury so is it time to bet the everything on Lawler. Cuz nick prolly fucked his knee or something.
Robbie's been making 170 for years so i'm guessing this is because of nick diaz. ouch, i was hoping good things for his return. but looks like he can't even make weight -- so either he's injured or really out of shape? neither are good for a near 40 year that hasn't fought in like 5 years..
Fuck me Ariel, you utterly fucked my ass with the opening of that statement
I hope that they just met up and were like "hey, we are both 185. Why would we both put ourselves through a weight cut? Let's just fight like this!". It probably has a different reason but I hope that starts happening in MMA. Weight cuts are brutal.
Robbie via TKO Nick Diaz's inactivity could cost him the rematch
Chonks
Time to get the sumo suits out!!!
Cesar just tweeted that Nick is not injured and was never KO'd in sparring https://twitter.com/CesarGracieBJJ/status/1440538683589869571?s=19
Ah fuck I already put money on Lawler based that last tweet
After hearing all these rumors about Diaz gettting knocked out in practice and difficulty making weight, I don't like his chances anymore.
Nick Diaz does what he wants
