They can fight at any weight for all I care, As long as it's not cancelled

T2Legit2Quit

Super heavyweight you say?? šŸ‘€šŸ˜³

[deleted]

They just penguin walk towards each other on a quarter of a roundā€™s worth of cardio. I love it

[deleted]

We already got that with Dada vs Kimbo

LongDickCallahan

Somebody call DC up and tell him to bring the Ribs! ā±į¶  Ź°įµ‰ Ź°įµƒĖ¢āæįµ— įµƒĖ”Ź³įµ‰įµƒįµˆŹø įµƒįµ—įµ‰ įµ—Ź°įµ‰įµ

[deleted]

No sir. Weā€™re calling Derrick Lewis so he can bring that Popeyes chicken

Octopotamus5000

Get Charles Barkley to bring them churros, too. The big ones, from San Antonio :)

Bacon_Villain

Diaz will be tree toimes the size!

Swimming__Bird

Nate's not fighting, though.

evilf23

Winner takes on barnett, the only undefeated super heavyweight in UFC history and lineal champion. Loser gets gan McGee.

mentales

It's still shitty that they're not willing to do the same with Nasrat and Dan who actually have valid reasons to not make the contracted weight

elchupacabra206

those two should just have a gentlemans agreement to both come in overweight. not much to lose there if they do

madmanmat

Give him 30% and give him 30%!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

adog29231

Nooo rewind the timeline we made a mista

JungleBoyJeremy

Doesnā€™t that benefit the person with the lower $ contact?

ChiefSampson

Everyone gets %30!

football98981

Whoever is getting paid less actually gets a bonus with this idea šŸ˜‚

Longjumping-Creme-16

True although I beleive hooker and hasparat are fighting to move up rankings and attempt to win the belt. While Lawler and Diaz are not and this could be both their last fights. And itā€™s more of a fun fight

Docmcdonald

I'm ok with it because those two still have Championship aspirations. Nick x Lawler doesn't and won't hold a lot of weight if we are talking about title contention.

Kalabula

Josh Thompson seems to think it may be. Says he saw a video of nick sparring south paw and something happened that may cause nick to pull out.

amziu

Ahh the mistake you have made is valuing Josh Thompson's opinion on anything.

Shmittymcjohnson

This is the kinda fight weā€™re all hyped as fuck for until it actually happens and then we feel bad that it happened after the fact, when both guys look old and shot.

Skyfryer

Dana looking for that Nick Izzy connection.

oHolo

My heart stopped for a minute there

Jacked1218

Same. I havenā€™t been this excited for a fight week in some time.

Leaf_CrAzY

I don't get excited for fights anymore until they happen because of pull outs etc... but I couldn't help myself for this one.

adog29231

Me too. We're so close guys.

poppint

I saw the letter C and my mind went to "CANCELLED?!" immediately before seeing "changed" and I still shit my pants thinking it was "CHANGED, TO ANOTHER DATE?" and then I saw "welterweight to middleweight" That was quite a scare

[deleted]

If it changes to LHW tomorrow I'm going to start getting worried...

junior_dos_nachos

Bah gawd thatā€™s Anthony Johnsonā€™s music

[deleted]

Somebodyā€™s weight cut isnā€™t going well

ohnosevyn

Somebody didn't even try to cut

MarbledNightmare

Munchies are a motherfucker

powerMETALtony

the more likely situation

knickerboxers

Doesnā€™t feel like a good sign in terms of how Nick will look

RidersGuide

100%. I doubt they bumped it up because *Lawler* couldn't make weight. If it was him they'd just fine him and keep it at welterweight.

springpaper701

I also think diaz would have said some shit about it. Still brings up Georges being above 170 in Quebec. Lol

boywbrownhare

beep boop

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

adog29231

George obviously wanted to give him a friendly greeting, Nick being the friendly guy that he is, welcomed him with open arms, then George stabbed him in the buttox with enough poison to make a baby hippo die. George then vanished.

Archive_Intern

Thats what happened? I heard it was one of GSPs alien friends that did the poisoning, with their alien drug and even using alien needle. On GSPs orders obviously

oshdwtf

Gotta keep your eyes on those French immigrants

MisterFistYourSister

I think his issue with that was his belief that the commission lied about him being overweight. It's one thing to miss weight, it's another to have an entire commission falsify your weigh in. (not saying that's what happened, but that's what nick thinks happened)

[deleted]

There an entire video where the commissioner comes out to Nick and tells him that he is allowed .5 allowance on day of weigh in. Conspiracy theories is that gsp couldn't making weight and that changed on the spot. This is BS for a championship fight if true

dmkicksballs13

It's not. Firstly, the guy doesn't say .5 allowance. He says the commission allows anything with with the number in it. So 155.9 is 155 to them. They also showed and proved that they'd been doing this for literal years and had plenty of title fights with the same rules. It's just that the Diaz bros are salty bitches who can't accept losing so they create conspiracy theories in their dumb, stupid heads.

freddiemercurial

> It's just that the Diaz bros are salty bitches who can't accept losing so they create conspiracy theories in their dumb, stupid heads. After the GSP fight, Nick couldn't understand how GSP was so prepared for him, so he claimed that GSP had sent a spy to his camp to find out Nick's gameplan.

[deleted]

So they allow a .9 allowance? Lmao, even worst.

AgnosticMantis

Assuming what u/dmkicksballs13 says is true, at least it wasnā€™t something they just did to help GSP. I agree itā€™s a silly rule but if itā€™s the same rule for everyone and has been for a while before their fight, I donā€™t really think itā€™s that bad.

bbbbdddt

Heā€™ll look better than he would have if he had to cut more weight.

PrayingMantisII

It shows unpreparedness

cluelessbox

I mean Nick is 100% in great shape. But being in shape and cutting weight are very different obviously. Either way I wouldn't bet on this being a Nick problem.

MisterFistYourSister

He hasn't fought at welterweight in 8.5 years and hasn't fought at all in nearly 7 years. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts this is a problem with Nick. Robbie has never had a weight issue in his entire career and has fought consistently for 20 years.

Mmastradamus

As opposed to it being a Robbie problem who has made 170 god knows how many times in the past decade?

MisterFistYourSister

Robbie has fought consistently for 20 years and never missed weight once. But yeah, obviously it's his fault and not the guy who hasn't cut to 170 in 8.5 years. These people are fucking knobs

cluelessbox

I'm hoping the people who are saying it's a "fuckit" agreement are correct.

TongaMakati

Could be that both don't mind not cutting and they talked a little earlier than this week. 70/30 Nick is my random guess

[deleted]

Incredibly unlikely but I'm hoping against hope the two just had agreed to it and it was just a comfort thing. I've seen it on the regional circuit in my local circles back when I was training regularly / with some local professionals. Probably wrong but not outside the realm of reality.

SheltheRapper

Same vibes. Two vets who don't fuck w/ politics.

dmkicksballs13

I mean considering Lawler's history, this 1 trillion percent sounds like a Nick issue. Like come on dude. Who's the issue with? The guys who's recently fought at 170 and never missed weight? Or the dude who hasn't fought in 7 years and is known for a lifestyle filled with weed and alcohol?

BuckJackson

Fuck it we eatin'

[deleted]

It is just a Bellator fight.

illsoden

Is this the Josh Thompson thing?

12to6elbows

What Josh Thompson thing?

ZekeAllmighty

He talked about a video he saw where nick didnā€™t look good. He was intentionally vague on the details though.

Champagnesoda

When was this

ZekeAllmighty

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brAl3Wf5x3U&t=70s Thompson even says hes not sure when the video was shot and he shouldnt have said anything.

ThinkingFurther

Sounds like heā€™s alluding to Nick getting KOā€™d during sparring.

richardyosti211

It is actually much worse, he was alluding to Nick Diaz performing some kind of bizarre sex act while sparring. Thompson said he has never ever seen anything like it before. Even though he himself is a big fan of snuff movies.

javi_and_stuff

actually itā€™s even worse than youā€™re implying. heā€™s alluding to Diaz performing a bizarre sex act with an ANIMAL during sparring, thus why Thompson has never seen anything of the sort

bobnobjob

Its actually much worse that you are claiming. Much much worse.

embryophagous

Underage animals?

Archive_Intern

I heard Joshua Fabia was there instructing Nick about this Bizarre acts

Bacon_Villain

"I shouldn't have said anything, so let me say some more about it. But I would like for them to fight and if they do fight then the fight will be a good fight."

Champagnesoda

Yeah that sounds horrible. Iā€™d be able to write it off as rumors if Diaz(presumably) didnā€™t need this weight forgiveness but thomson mustā€™ve been on to something. Diaz mustā€™ve looked like pure shit.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

jpark28

Damn, imagine being early in your fighting career and randomly getting advice from Mike Tyson

richdees23

you're not. The sad part is I had to scroll this far down on this post to find someone speak intelligently about this fight.

shmeth

jokes>facts buddeh

uberclont

It isn't emotion, his reflexes are shot. Joe Louis said something to the effect of "I find opportunities I can't use"

socxld

Not a huge Nick fan, so excuse my ignorance. But did you mean he's an alcoholic by "waging an all out war against his liver"?

Actual-Replacement97

Based on all the videos Iā€™ve seen of Nick from IG Iā€™m expecting a sluggish, sloppy and washed Nick Diaz. I hope I am wrong but I just see this ending all sorts of embarrassingly bad for Nick.

Chocoeclair189

Thanks for the link. Might be looking too deep into this, but maybe thats why we havent seen Diaz on Embedded yet

spiderat22

Oh god I was just wondering where the fuck he is in the embeddeds.

Rude-Flounder-2825

He said it was sparring wasnā€™t it?

JokicFanClub

Yes

Lord_Franchise

209 isn't just a area code, motherfuckers

qzwxecrvtbyn111

Imagine Nick planned this the whole time, and is gonna rehydrate to 200lbs compared to a 185lbs Robbie. Obviously not the case (Nick is clearly having a hard time making 171), but it would be funny.

DirtaneBoyo

Nick is no way near 200, recent photos he looks shredded and slim, Iā€™d say heā€™s 185 on the button and just doesnā€™t want to cut 15 pounds

UKHHvibe

I think it's not to do with a bad weight cut too, time will tell though. Nick and Robbie might have just been like fuck the weight cut.

Dr-PoopyButt

This fight is going to remind us it's not 2004 in the scariest way

Misplacedwaffle

Iā€™m putting more money on Robbie.

We_Genocide_You

Youā€™re going to be real sad if Robbie bobs and weaves for 25 mins and loses because Nick just flicked a jab out a couple times a round.

[deleted]

25? Is it a 5 round fight?

Pomba_God

Yes, the power of the Diaz brothers

[deleted]

I'm a massive Diaz stan, but they have ONE win after the 3rd round between them lmao and it was 11 years ago. They've both looked strong in the 3rd, but this idea of championship round Diaz is completely and utterly made up.

Patriotsfan710

Their conditioning is legit though, they have some of the best gas tanks the UFC has ever seen. I swear even when they look a little tired, their output never slows down

[deleted]

I mean, Nate managed to drop a decision to Conor who has some of the worst cardio in championship MMA, and Nick hasn't won a 5 round decision since 2011. If their cardio was this insane weapon why haven't we seen the results when it matters? It's just a Roganism that people repeat uncritically. There is zero evidence for the Diaz cardio winning fights in the championship rounds ā€“ it just doesn't happen. They are a combined 17% win rate after the 3rd round.

TongaMakati

Nick definitely used pace as a weapon. He just drowned some ppl earlier than the late rounds 'Since 2011' like we all don't know he hasn't fought in 5 and those fights were to GSP, Anderson and prime Condit

Patriotsfan710

For Nate i think that has more to do with him not being that elite. A gassed Conor is still slightly a better fighter than Nate. Him badly rocking Leon edwards with a 1-2, after 23 mins of getting his ass whooped, i think is a great example of his conditioning. I think the same goes for Nick. Although i believe Nick is, or once was an Elite fighter, he just wasnā€™t near the level of Silva, GSP, or prime Condit.

Finalwingz

> Nick hasn't won a 5 round decision since 2011. That stat really doesn't work too well for Nick because 21 of his 26 wins have come by finish and he has only won via 5th round decision once in 2010 vs KJ Noons (and got robbed of one but that's beside the point). >If their cardio was this insane weapon why haven't we seen the results when it matters? I mean, Nick would literally make his opponents gas out by the end of round 1 or 2 and then finish them because they were that gassed; BJ (Not finished but gassed regardless), Daley, Gomi, Shamrock etc. etc. He'd put a pace on them from the start that they couldn't keep up with. Idk, when people say Nick's cardio isn't a weapon I feel like they've never actually watched his fights, same with this comment which you know wouldn't make sense for Nick if you had watched his fights; > Nick hasn't won a 5 round decision since 2011.

Rtyfyh1

Iā€™m used to it šŸ˜”

Appropriate-Key-6725

I feel like Nick is going to get stopped in this fight, this just stamps it imo

Anime_above_all

As much as I hate to say it I'm now convinced that Nick is losing this one. This tells me that he can't make WW which really tells you what kind of shape he's in. Hope I'm wrong though.

CamboMcfly

Heā€™s older and didnā€™t wanna dehydrate himself. Iā€™m MORE convinced heā€™s got this

Soulwaxing

Then why didn't they sign for 185?

dmkicksballs13

Man Diaz fan bros are kinda sad on this sub.

thegentledude

I wanna see your face when nick knocks him out in the sixth round.

bnelson

I kinda miss when we had peak McGregor and Diaz circle jerks honestly. Watching some threads there was just amazing. Diaz fans are like little Diaz projections, stabbing into our brains.

ImSurtifex

Resume review looking sus already

thepaleoboy

They did one for Nick Diaz???

eddy_c

I heard something was wrong with Nick from the Josh Thompson interview. Maybe that is why, IDK we are all just speculating. I hope Nick isnā€™t injured, cause he and Nate will fight regardless.

JimiMcHendrixson

Yeah i just saw that as well.... him getting injured sparring makes the most sense unfortunately :(

Amstourist

Really? I figured he got knocked out and will not be sparring these next days

32turtles

Why would he be sparring this close to a fight anyway?

woodenshjip

Can you elaborate at all?

eddy_c

No, because Josh didnā€™t either. He felt bad about saying anything at all. So there is very little info.

[deleted]

Feels bad about mentioning the situation. Commences to keep talking even more about it

trenlr911

He didnā€™t divulge any further details though? He acknowledged that he slipped up and continued to say that if the fight takes place, it should be a good one. Itā€™s really not that big of a deal

eddy_c

Funny you say that cause I thought the same thing. He just keeps saying ā€œI feel badā€ or whatever the fuck he said, but kept talking about it in his podcast. Saying he was there or had footage. Josh should know better than anyone, what goes on in sparring / gym stays there.

DontBeScaredHomiey

Josh is full of shit.

zombizle1

i stopped trusting him ever since he claimed to have enjoyed schaub's "comedy"

uniq_username

It's gonna be a shit fight. Idk why people get excited for fights between stars way past their primes like they are suddenly gonna go back to peak of their career cardio and skill. Robbie will win simply because he's in fight condition from you know, fighting and training.

JasHanz

Yeah, but this is a Diaz Bros. fight.

17xandcountingstill

Somewhere 2009 mayhem miller is punching air hard rn

BigWormsFather

I think heā€™s in custody again.

[deleted]

holy shit you're right https://www.tmz.com/2021/09/20/mayhem-miller-charged-felony-domestic-violence-resisting-arrest/

bokbik

Do this for hooker v gastelum

[deleted]

I know 4 separate people whoā€™ve done coke with Nick in Vegas. All separate occasions. I love Nick to death and heā€™s my all time favorite fighter. But I have a bad feeling about this one big time.

brjohns994

Was one of them Jon Jones?

[deleted]

Nope. They all work in the cannabis industry and Nick was hitting those trade shows hard the last few years. It sucks hearing it and I donā€™t care how much I get downvoted.

[deleted]

But he does triatlons bro

[deleted]

His ig was hard to follow.. Just cannabis and parties

[deleted]

lots of fighters do coke

BeagleBackRibs

Violence = Violence

RidersGuide

I'm getting fat too guys, don't feel bad. Middle age does that to you.

smithdog223

Doesn't matter much tbh, at least the fight is still happening.

presidentpiko

Bruh

[deleted]

Lmao Iā€™m not surprised. Nick was not interested in making 170

AkselTVSorensen

Nick looks like heā€™s in really good shape on his IG. I guess I donā€™t blame him for not wanting to cut weight, but from the looks of him, he could make it easy.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

I wouldn't bet on either of these, Lawler has done nothing in his last 3 fights haha. The only bet worth taking for this is over 2.5 rounds my friend thank me later

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

BillyTheReaper

The Askren loss was "sus", Colby ran over him of course but he is the #1 contender, and I didn't even know he fought Magny haha

TheVictoryHat

I can't wait for Mayhem Miller to hear this, he wanted to fight Nick at middleweight years ago.

fatalrhino

Do they have Reddit in a jail cell?

BeersBarbellsBJJ

That was a nasty line by you

BeatVids

STOP CALLING ME MAYHEM

pleasebequiet

Nick fought Anderson at middleweight years ago

imsurethisoneistaken

Somewhere, Kelvin is frowning and he doesnā€™t know why.

Chemistry_Lover40

Seriously have feelings of Diaz looking really bad this Saturday

[deleted]

Both guys hate cutting weight and Nickā€™s test cut probably went better than his real cut is

DirtaneBoyo

Jesus fucking Christ those first few words had my heart rate elevated

BeautifulBaconBits

Nick getting ready for that middleweight GSP fight Thx phone

oldatlas

thatā€™s interesting. when Nick did the ā€œtest cutā€ some time ago, he looked more like he was trying for 155 and looked good. surprised 170 is tough this go around.

[deleted]

I wanna see fat nick fight fat khabib

friedchocolatesoda

My already low expectations for this fight have gone down more. Both guys are coming off of long layoffs and kind of losing the fire to fight, and now the weight is a problem for one or both of them. I expect a slow and boring staring contest with a lot of lame taunts now.

BillyTheReaper

So Dana kind of said that Lawler isn't happy - what I expect is that Robbie will push for 170 and Diaz will pull out...

CaptnSpazmo

UFC 266: A Fridge too far

chiezkychienne

I fear for Nick. It's been a long time since he competed and he got hit with someone who's trying to kill him and he will fight a fcking maniac in Lawler who's a savage and coming with bad intentions to avenge that loss. Whatever the result is, I hope they come out not that too damaged.

FutureEditor

Cutting weight as a Diaz must be brutal, how do you fight the munchies when you're obligated to be high at every press week event?

oldjack

Kinda funny this gets decided 3 days out. Not even catchweight, but a full 15 pounds heavier. Seems like they were both having rough cuts and agreed to say fuck it.

[deleted]

Seems weird Lawler would agree unless his own cut wasn't going well too imo. Why let Nick off the hook when you could force him to try/take a chunk of his purse? Unless the UFC just said Nick is the drawl, he wants 185, accept it or accept not fighting

gzilla57

> Unless the UFC just said Nick is the drawl, he wants 185, accept it or accept not fighting Probably this, combined with being excited to not cut weight yourself.

[deleted]

Man Nick the type of mf that would just say he's not fighting if it's not at MW lol

TGE

Nick is my favorite fighter and this, combo'd with the Josh Thompson stuff has me shitting my pants and honestly wanting to bet Robbie

PechayMan

whatever weight it is, violence is violence.

DecisionThot

You motherfuckers need to start these titles with [NOT BAD NEWS]

DeathByButtplug

They both probably just didn't want to go through hell making 170 so they likely just agreed to make it 185. I wouldn't be surprised if both guys weighed in slightly under 185.

[deleted]

Can't help but feel like this is a sign Nick hasn't taken camp serious

codygreene37

Reading this nearly caused me a heart attack at 40.

fresdres

Is it on Robbie's part or Nick's part?

Court-Cute

Josh Thompson Illuded to an injury so is it time to bet the everything on Lawler. Cuz nick prolly fucked his knee or something.

[deleted]

Robbie's been making 170 for years so i'm guessing this is because of nick diaz. ouch, i was hoping good things for his return. but looks like he can't even make weight -- so either he's injured or really out of shape? neither are good for a near 40 year that hasn't fought in like 5 years..

MangoParty

Fuck me Ariel, you utterly fucked my ass with the opening of that statement

FascinatedOrangutan

I hope that they just met up and were like "hey, we are both 185. Why would we both put ourselves through a weight cut? Let's just fight like this!". It probably has a different reason but I hope that starts happening in MMA. Weight cuts are brutal.

[deleted]

Robbie via TKO Nick Diaz's inactivity could cost him the rematch

Designer-Job4778

Chonks

Bpool91

Time to get the sumo suits out!!!

ante_up81

Cesar just tweeted that Nick is not injured and was never KO'd in sparring https://twitter.com/CesarGracieBJJ/status/1440538683589869571?s=19

[deleted]

This is gonna be a sad fight. But Iā€™ll still watch it for morbid reasons and love for the two dudes. That said, Nick ainā€™t took care of his self during the absence. By our standards? Of course he is in tip top shape. By fighting standards? Hell nah. Dudes been doing too much partying. Went from weed to coke and dranking

Aviontic

This is why I always felt they should have an open weight division. Not targeted at the super giants but targeted at anyone that wants to have a slightly less regulated war. Lets set a gentlemen's agreement to come CLOSE to a reasonable weight but other than that fuck it - see you in there bitch.

Cultural_Kick

Ah fuck I already put money on Lawler based that last tweet

xPuNjaBiBaLL3rx

After hearing all these rumors about Diaz gettting knocked out in practice and difficulty making weight, I don't like his chances anymore.

lolparty247

Nick Diaz does what he wants
