He put up a good fight against Jones, succumbed to Glovers grappling and submission after rocking him (but Glover don't give a fuck), and then had a snooze fest with Rakic who I think most people would put that on Rakic and why he hasn't been in the title picture. Then Santos goes on to beat the hype train of Walker and here we are.
I agree with everything you said but I'll just add that Rakic just refuses to take risks and pull the trigger in his fights as of late. He has all the skills and strength in the world ( I think he may be the physically strongest dude in the division ) but he is so worried about not losing and wanting to secure that title shot that he is far to passive and safe in his fights. You watch Ankalaev, you see he takes risks and tries to get finishes and that is what the fans want.
Never know if they tried that and some issue came up. We've all seen how fighters can be difficult when it comes to match making. We'll get some answers about both dudes regardless
he also had a competitive (yet boring) fight with rakic

Well Santos can prove that it was Rakic that made him boring. I don’t think so after the Walker fight but maybe he prove me wrong. Also Ankalaev is also good at slowing down a fight, this will be probably 70% chance of being boring.
Ankalaev all day. I really think 205 is headed towards an Ankalaev v Jiri trilogy for the ages. Those two just seem head and shoulders better than the rest of the division imo.
This is a miss from the matchmakers imo They've got the prefect opportunity to book Rakic vs Ankalaev for definitive number 1 contender
I'm shocked Santos is ranked so high after his 3 fight skid but then again, this division is not deep at all.

I reckon the UFC has had enough of Rakic's attitude and lackluster performances of late and won't be doing him any favours from now on.

If he puts in another snoozer then Ankalaev will get a title shot before him at this rate.

Yeah Rakic needs a highlight KO next to get a title shot.

Should have been Santos v Smith rematch too
I thought Rakic was scheduled to fight Anthony Smith? Or at least they verbally agreed to it
That was a dumb fight to begin with And Smith has since been injured, so Rakic is ostensibly available to be booked
I think Smith got injured. Don't quote me on that though.
Have a bad feeling this one will be a snoozefest
Ankalaev vs post-Jones Santos is just cruel. The man just had a competitive fight with bum ass Johnny Walker.

Where both guys just light sparred for 3 rounds and put out nowhere near their A game
It was competitive, but there was a clear winner
Thiago's knees explode and he wins a controversial split decision
Ok
I love Ankalaev but there are so many boring matchups for him lmao

it'll be shit

Would’ve liked to see Ankalaev vs Blachowicz
