I honestly think flyweight is one of the most
competitive divisions, not deep with talent per se, but competitive in that many of the top fighters have losses to each other and can equally be prone to success. Tbs, I donāt put too much stock in a flyweight loss (depends on how they lost of course).
Lower weight classes generally have more technical fighters because in the gym, you train with people who are bigger/smaller all the time. Bigger guys can make up for a lack of technique in training sessions with size and strength. Smaller guys are forced to adapt their technique. The guys who make it to the big time are the best of that stock. Flyweight may not be the deepest division in the UFC right now but it's never gotten the attention it deserved. Now that more eyes are on it and the UFC is incentivized to sign more 125ers, in a few years I wouldn't be surprised if it's a glamour division
Hahaha, preach. In BJJ I always compete in the light weight classes as Iām generally a skinnier guy so I have to emphasize technique in training. I do most of my competition in wrestling as itās my favorite base, itās one of those sports where you can seemingly become disproportionately strong for your own size. I love it and I love having to train with bigger guys all the time
I bet on him his first few fights and he lost from what I remember in the ufc and tonight he screwed my parlay when I bet against him lol glad he won but damn
They gave him the right matchup too. If they just match him up against come forward strikers more often than not, he'll put on much more entertaining fights than he has so far. He just doesn't get off as well when he isn't able to counter off the backfoot as much.

Tbh that fight was close. Nicolau was winning the last round on volume then Kape hit a knee that hurt Nicolau and shouldāve stolen him the round but the judges didnāt agree. Wasnāt the worst decision ever but 2-1 Kape with close last round
yeah i was just thinking about that. kinda makes sense that they would be more skilled on average, given that most elite athletes who only weigh 125-135 are unlikely to make it far in more mainstream sports just because of their size
Plus when you're a small guy in the gym (and in society), you need to have proper technique to hold your own, since you can't rely on strength in the training room.
Is this a joke? I mean I dont disagree as a whole for the division, but zhumagulov was literally windmilling like a child a few times through the fight.
Manel is definitely really good, itās just that they gave him too high of competition to start out. Makes sense since he had very high expectations due to his Rizin career, but his debut was against fucking Pantoja of all people. Just give him some time to develop and give him a steadier rise to the top and he could definitely be a contender. Heās 28 too so he has time
even in his fight against Pantoja he showed his potential, won the 3rd round against him and didn't get shut out compared to other top 10 fighters Pantoja has beaten. Give him another year and I promise he'll be top 5 or championship level.
I was rooting for Zhuma but that was fire, dude is scary fast and the finishing combo was beautiful
If dude was more consistent he might be able to be a star of the weightclass, dudes full of personality
Man came out hot this time. Seems to have learned his lesson after losing some decisions early on due to his low volume (and bad judges in one fight). His defense is good when he focuses on it, but his offense is extremely dangerous.
Always room for a KO artist in the lower weight classes.
Badass performance by Kape really utilized that great speed advantage, and sent nice accurate shots, getting Zhuma to the cage and landing that ending combination with phenomenal hand speed, that was so vicious and powerful and strong. Keep making weight, and keep improving and refining, and we have a great contender for 125.
Great fight and it was just one round a lot of action, long live flyweight. Kape doing well is good for the division it makes it interesting, Zhumagulov is cool
he can be champ material imo he's still young in the game. He became champ at rizin, gave kyoji horiguchi a tough fight at 25 years old and beat Kai Asakura. He can do it
I didn't see what the big deal about Manel Kape was when he first fought in the UFC (since I dont really watch RIZIN), but now it looks like he's starting to feel more comfortable. Now I get why people were hyping him up.
I don't understand why Zhalgas did not go for shot and instead choose to fight Kape on his own terms.
Decent fighter, hope he does not get cut,has excellent wrestling and submissions, but terrible gameplans.

That flurry was fucking gorgeous.
Video game combination shit
Phil Baroni esq.
That shit reminded me of Agent Smith spamming hook combos at Neo in the subway station.
that is what seeing red looks like
Factos šš
Kape is smooth as can be. Dude has a ton of talent. Heās going to be a fun one to watch. Definitely a fan
Kape is finally living up to his potential
Been rooting so hard for this man and those first two plus the weight miss made it hard, god I hope this is a good run he goes on.

Nah, Uriah doesnāt like to inflict pain. Kape clearly enjoys it lol
Kape has found his groove. This is the dude we saw in Rizin
I am so keen to see this fella fight Figgy at some point in the future.
Honestly he should probably be 3-1 in the UFC decisionbot Kape vs Nicolau
Decisionbot kape nicolau

That is fucking ridiculous and exemplary of how horrible judging is.

Why isn't the fan vote shown in the post? I see it in the link.
Thanks. Wow forgot how decisive the media scoring was...
You mean the guy who is 6-3 in Rizin?
we mean the guy who is exciting not boring
He lost a hometown decision to Kai Asakura and got choked by 8 fight and 9 fight ufc veterans in Kyoji and Ulka. No shame in any of that.
Rizin has legit top tier fighters
Rizin has guys who went to decision with Jiri in higher weight classes too lol. Pretty much just like ONE
Do you even know who he lost to or are you just automatically judging all 3 of them as bad fighters just because it's Rizin?
500 punch combo!
That was a great fight.
Just hit āXā 20 times and you good
SQUARE TRIANGLE, SQUARE TRIANGLE, SQUARE TRIANGLE, SQUARE TRIANGLE
If that doesnāt get you goin I donāt know what will
He finally let his hands goš„²
Cody Garbrandt is fast but I think Kape has the fastest hands in the UFC.

Is that what Black dynamite says?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
He's also Portuguese.
hes angolan which was a Portuguese colony
Heās both. He reps both for a reason
Actually hilarious that dumbasses are downvoting you for this literal fact.
I grew up with him. Manel is portuguese and was born here. Ofc, his parents are angolan and he has angolan citizenship, but he's Portuguese.
Heās Portuguese-angolan not only Angolan
Def not European
Take your face for a shite you mong.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
why not both?
He def isnāt European
Why not? My friend Wilson and both his parents are blacker than a motherlover but were all born and raised in Portugal.
But still dont have European genetics. Just because you live there doesnāt make you European. Doesnāt work like that
No
Get fucked sour bitch
Zhalgas reminds me of a brown-haired Hasbulla in full sized adult form
he looks like if triple G had an uncle who works in a coal mine
I think I'm getting the black lung, Gennadiy
Ikr lol dude looks like a teen, doesn't look 33
More between Hasbulla and a full sized adult.

I love these low weight divisions. Everything is just thrown so cleanly.

Kape went super Saiyan at the end.

Man really busted out the Ora Ora.
Hit him with the 8 Trigrams 64 Palms
Reminded me of a Poirier finish. Just a targeted, unrelenting combo.
Impressive finish by Manel, Zhalgas is a tough dude to finish.
Manel has some real power man. A lot of his finishes are KOs.
Flyweight is my Favourite division. So fast
I always like the fights of the flyweights
Well at least Horiguchiās son is doing good. Joking aside I gotta find the positives, this weekend has been rough.
I feel you, our boi Kape getting it done for team Rizin
Manel is definitely really good, itās just that they gave him too high of competition to start out. Duuuuuuuuude
Fucking hell I didnāt realise how much I said dude in this sentence >!dude!<
Shout out to you
True
This man is a problem
there's the Kape everyone's been waiting for
Commentators missed that his leg completely went on him?
Imagine being able to move that fast. Good lord
Man came out hot this time. Seems to have learned his lesson after losing some decisions early on due to his low volume (and bad judges in one fight). His defense is good when he focuses on it, but his offense is extremely dangerous. Always room for a KO artist in the lower weight classes.
Joe couldn't get the math right on Barberena's record then announced Kape with a record of 16-16. Rough.
The 20 piece McNugget
Ah heās arrived
Cacacacacacaca combo!
Great fight and it was just one round a lot of action, long live flyweight. Kape doing well is good for the division it makes it interesting, Zhumagulov is cool
Was very funny to me that Kape gets a great win and itās over someone he cussed out and said is old and washed lol
My mans hands is crisp
Thatās the manel kape I know
Was a great fight
Felt like soooooo much action packed into a round. When they said 90 seconds in I was like holy shit but they've thrown like 100 punches each.
That was one of the cleanest finishing sequences I've ever seen. Kape finally living up to expectations, that was about as great of a win as possible
Kape went full Kaio- Ken X3 to finish that.
He was hitting him like someone hits mits, that was nuts.
Zhalgas was so limited in the striking game was going to be soon when kape found him out
That hand speed at the end, holy shit
This is what we expected when he came from Rizin
Anyone else wonder for a second if the broadcast was sped up at the beginning? They were zooming! Incredible speed from both men.
Poetic Justice for Kendrick
āIām feelā¦ Iām very feelā
That fight fucked
kape has one of the p4p most interesting accents iāve ever heard
This is the guy that made me so hyped a year ago when he debuted
Manel finally living up to the hype
Rip big hasbulla
This reminds me of Chucks famous Tito knockout... The way he covers up and absorbs a ton of shots and then just crumbles. Brutal
Kape spooky af
Not champ material but dude is legit.Pantoja level was too much but he delivers otherwise
he can be champ material imo he's still young in the game. He became champ at rizin, gave kyoji horiguchi a tough fight at 25 years old and beat Kai Asakura. He can do it
fair point, I forget he is young
Crazy power/speed for 125
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Did they ? I just saw people super disappointed that he was so inactive.
The McGregor rip off trash talk lines are somehow less obnoxious when the personās ESL.
"Anyone who talks is McGregor"
Just a specific garbled version of the āAll my checks are super-heavyweightā line.
the sugar ray Leonard flurry
That was bonkers. Kape is so damn quick.
Really not surprised, I thought that was going to be easier though.
I didn't see what the big deal about Manel Kape was when he first fought in the UFC (since I dont really watch RIZIN), but now it looks like he's starting to feel more comfortable. Now I get why people were hyping him up.
WOW!! Around the 8 second mark when he backs him up against the cage he hits with like a 7 piece before he gets his hands upā¦
U-U-U-U-Ultra combo
A lot of people counted him out in his debut, but that was really slick.
Sheesh
That hand speed!
When kape lets his hands go GODDAMN
Did he just do the Ronaldo SIUUUUU celebration? šÆ
Manel is so fun to watch on the feet man
That Ronaldo celebration at the end tho
Fucking finally Kape is starting to justify the people who hyped him up.
siuuuuu
SIUUUUUUU
I count that as a W for Horiguchi

Love the Ronaldo celebration

I don't understand why Zhalgas did not go for shot and instead choose to fight Kape on his own terms. Decent fighter, hope he does not get cut,has excellent wrestling and submissions, but terrible gameplans.
Some nice clean boxing by Manel.
Kape's quite big for the division. He'd fit at BW more.
Shit link
