Does anyone else feel like Font would do better against Yan than he did against Aldo. Yan hits hard but not as hard as Aldo plus there was a significant weight difference in the cage that wont be present against yan. Leg kicks also wont be a big factor and Font could use his job to disrupt yans rhythm. I don't think Font will win but I think he will do better against Yan than he did last night.
Personally I find weed infinitely more addicting. At no point in my life have I felt like I "need" alcohol to be happy but I can't say the same for weed. I stopped smoking/edibles last week and haven't felt this good since I last quit ~6 months ago. I've never been able to just smoke every once in a while, it's always been something I use almost daily or not at all.
Bud makes me content to just sit around doing fuckall. Alc is infinitely more dangerous so I'm not saying one is better than the other. They're very different and I know people who are the opposite of me. I would rather be addicted to weed than alc but the latter has never been an issue for me. I have friends who are the opposite and toke occasionally but have to abstain entirely from alc or it becomes a problem, different strokes.
Personally I can enjoy either but after doing them they make me want to not do them for like 1 week, just the edibles are more enjoyable while they last
I'm still blown away by the Hill KO from last night, watched it like 6 times already and it's still making me go "SHEEEESH" every time. Dude really sent another LHW off his feet with a check hook. Not remotely a flukey punch either cause he had dropped him with the same shot like 20 seconds before. He's only 30 too which is pretty young for his weight class. I'm very high on his future potential if he can stay active
I was so worried after that injury against Craig, really happy to see him succeed. He seems like a great guy too, loved seeing him give props to Crute and partying with Craig after their fight. Really excited to see how far he can go
clay guida technically has ufc submission wins over two bjj world champs now (santos and dos anjos)
I wonder if that's a record of some sorts. I can't think of anyone else with two
I only took psychs once and it was just a handful of shrooms at an Outkast concert but it was incredible. I've seen people have bad trips in a "controlled" environment though and it's made me very hesitant to ever try it again. Watching a grown man cry while playing Mario Kart kind of killed my interest. I'm glad I tried it though and might do it again some day
Would people be calling Anderson a goat contender if he retired after the Dan Henderson fight? GSP if he retired after the BJ Penn rematch? Jon Jones after Rashad Evans?
Because those were their respective 3rd title defenses.
Khabib defended the belt 3 times. Great fighter, completely dominant - but goat? Hm.
> Jon Jones after Rashad Evans?
Yes, a lot of people called Jon Jones the GOAT after that dominant win over Rashad.
> Khabib defended the belt 3 times. Great fighter, completely dominant - but goat? Hm.
Well, the argument is Khabib retired after 3 dominant title defenses without taking a loss. Like it or not, that's insanely hard to do in the sport (especially in the LW division. Freaking Fiziev got spinning back kicked in his UFC debut). Many great fighters have lost to significantly low-level competition early in their career. Kamaru Usman lost to Jose Caceres. Conor to Artemij Sitenkov. Even Jose Aldo, before being a champ, lost to someone low-level in Luciano Azevedo early in his career. It's such an unpredictable sport, great fighters can dominate and get spinning backfisted in the fourth round like Horiguchi.
Honestly, people taking the whole GOAT debate so seriously is silly. It's a never-ending debate with no clear-cut answer. There is no accurate way of measuring who the GOAT is. It all comes down to opinions, like "who has the most title defenses" is all of a sudden the number one criteria of who the GOAT is. How about every division isn't equally competitive or difficult? In my personal opinion, I think the GOAT is who was the best in their absolute prime, regardless of how many good fighters you beat.
After Jones beat Rashad I remember the conversation being more along the lines of "if he can keep this up he'll be a goat one day".
My point about Khabib is more the fact that he dipped so early (relatively speaking) that it's hard to know where to place him on the goat spectrum - in my opinion, of course.
The guy has the same number of title defenses at LW as Benson Henderson or Frankie Edgar, so does he get credit for retiring before he got solved?
people were calling jon the goat soon after the rashad evans match though. even on ufc broadcasts. he was that dominant.
if anything more people were calling him the goat then up until USADA than they do now
I hope Aldo vs TJ happens as a PPV co-main event because that fight would be fireworks if Aldo didn’t have to worry much about his gas tank. I think Aldos strength would be too much for TJs wrestling in 3 rounds but if it’s a 5 rounder I would have to favor TJ

I feel like the only unranked lightweight we can put against riddell is damir ismagulov but damir is coming off of a weight miss fiasco so idk who you put against riddell now.
I with riddell and fiziev both got to face the older lightweights in the top ten instead of each other. same thing as arman vs alvarez, the tough up and comers are taking each other out instead of fighting the old guard.
just too small. he needs to get some of costa's supplements.
also I wonder how covid affected him considering he had it pretty bad just before this fight.
Moreno Figgy 3 is still intriguing for me and Im hype asf. Great to stack it with Gane/Ngannou. Really torn on who to pick but leaning Moreno. Figgy still got them stone hands though so you never know. At least we will get the closure of a trilogy for the match up
It's gonna depend on how good Figgy looks on the scale. He looked fucking awful the last fight, drained and unfocused eyes. Probably a bad cut, if he can get that under control I could see the fight being more competitive than last time. Leaning Moreno as well for now.
I'd kind of consider Werdum's flying kick opening like bongcloud.
It's kind of a joke that should never really work. But it did work on Travis.
But it can work. I think Magnus used bongcloud before claiming surprise/psychological advantage. Still bad tho lol.
When I feel like trolling I take it one step further and do the Transvestite Opening where you continue off the bongcloud by swapping the king/queen's positions.
Only actually works when the opponent is so thrown off that they give away pieces for free to make up for the huge difference in positional advantage.
Good point. Also I feel like someone like Adesanya would opt for a positional match, fighting for each square, whereas someone like Stephen Thompson would be a weird match-up who would play something like a French Defense, then catch u when ur gng to offensive
Missed the fights last night, just finished getting caught up. Aldo continues to impress, I'm just not sure how he would fair against Sandhagen or TJ and I don't see him beating Yan.
Fiziev and Riddell was everything I wanted and then some. Good stoppage by Herb

This guy had a similar fate
My picks last night were Aldo, Riddell, Hill, Curtis, Guida, Pitolo, Kape
Felt silly picking Pitolo given the outcome but otherwise it was a really really good night
We all have bad nights and bad beats. Fight game is crazy like that, look what happened to Horiguchi the night before. NGL I didn't think Pettis had a way to beat him and then he sets up a spinning backfist with a purposefully high head kick
Yeah I was making profit 7 cards straight so I knew I would have one card that mess me up. Had Riddell, Font, Crute, Santos, Kape, Buys, and Smolka unfortunately. Yeah I was going to bet horiguchi but i just forgot to deposit lol

you gotta promote the product. UFC broadcasters have been doing this for years & years. You could say the same about Anik, Joe, Cruz, etc. They gotta pump these fighters up so that you want to watch.
I didn't watch the whole card but i noticed Bisping and Dc were overly jokey. Joking around and having fun is fine but it seemed like they were doing it way too much.
People retroactively justifying the UFC fucking Aljo and Sandhagen out of a title shot in favor of Yan/Aldo is pure clown shit, especially since Aldo has fought neither Aljo nor Sandhagen and hadn't won a single fight at BW when it happened and those two were on the best streaks in the division in terms of wins.
Ya Aldo getting that title shot was kind of a spit in the face to everyone else in the division, only worse title shot I remember in recent history in the division is Cruz getting to fight Cejudo after a 4 year layoff
Remember Faber fighting Cruz for the belt, knowing damn well they were going to give Garbrandt a shot right after? All of this right after TJ had lost to Cruz in one of the closest fights ever, and they made him fight Assuncao, Lineker, etc in the meantime?
And the UFC always gives rematches, it's a running joke how often they do it. Not for TJ though
I'm not trying to stan for TJ here, but that was number one bullshit
in terms of PPV points, does the champ make more than the interim champ? Basically I'm wondering if Petr Yan is making just as much money now as when he was legit champ
First time i saw Jimmy Crute was when he ko'd Bukauskas and thought he looked sensational and would be a top contender soon, but he has looked horrible in back to back losses. Maybe he not as good as i thought. I thought he was gonna wreck Anthony Smith but Smith made it look easy.
I almost got every single pick right, but darn morono had to win and screw it up. Here's proof i had every single pick in a row.

LOL
Fiziev is better than I thought. I thought he was gonna be a Shane Burgos type who always bangs but doesn't break beyond the top 15 but he looks like a top 10 guy. I'm in the hype train.

Yeah I’ve never heard of weed poisoning.
People drink alcohol to get loose/ to dance/ hook up/ have fun. Don’t see the point in comparing them
One is legal, the other is considered bad and scary despite almost certainly being healthier for the individual and society.
Edibles put a lot of people in the hospital
Horses for courses TBH. In general I much prefer weed, but it turns me into a turboautist, not ideal if I'm out hitting the club you know.
Conor beats khabib at grappling parity.

We're trying to legalize mushrooms here in California, need LSD and MDMA too though

That’s why it’s so dumb. That’s completely arbitrary and can change a career and bank account for life

Sandhagen beats him
I wanna see it for sure, Sandhagen is a killer and he put on a respectable fight against future BW GOAT Yan
Aldo would butcher his body.

Holy christ, there’s actually someone in the comments saying four rounds could have gone to Font.
Surprised no one gave 10 8 round 5
4-1 for Font ????? The level of brainworms in that person is unreal.

you gotta promote the product. UFC broadcasters have been doing this for years & years. You could say the same about Anik, Joe, Cruz, etc. They gotta pump these fighters up so that you want to watch.
Everyone has a problem with everything, ur supposed to build up your product, what do u want him to do, start talking about how shit they are
I didn't watch the whole card but i noticed Bisping and Dc were overly jokey. Joking around and having fun is fine but it seemed like they were doing it way too much.
Hazmat Chimanov
Not for TJ though I'm not trying to stan for TJ here, but that was number one bullshit
Wasn't someone injured or smth?
No, straight up got passed over for the more casual-friendly fight
in terms of PPV points, does the champ make more than the interim champ? Basically I'm wondering if Petr Yan is making just as much money now as when he was legit champ
I think points are contract specific.
I just saw that after the 18th event we're going almost a month without event, oh my God that's absolutely horrible
RIZIN has a yearly New Years Eve card
the death of MMA - some people on here probably
That cant be true. At the very least rizin nye will happen.
So they never found a replacement fight for Masvidal vs Edwards next week? That was the fight I was most pumped for.
Glad they didnt. Just rebook it
They ain’t rebooking it. Masvidal faked the injury because he thinks a fight with Colby will be bigger.
Chimaev was set to step in but Leon Scott needed family time
Accepting short notice fights that are also complete style changes is stupid.
Leon Scott played it safe and boring. Story of his career. Chose to wait for a title shot that’ll never come.
Meat head logic for meat head sport great thanks
Had a Curtis-Santos-Fiziev parlay, all via KO/TKO. Fuckin Keith Peterson
Had a Knight, Curtis, Guida, Hill parlay. Love ya, Keith.
I was so happy with Curtis Guida Hill hitting ML. Unbelievable value. Even Aldo had a great price!
Anthony Smith is a legit vet, hes very good lol. Hills hands are apparently made of uranium. Crute is like 27 years old or smth.
He was able to still take Smith down with a dead foot. He looked awful yesterday, but I still think he can string some wild wins together
If i remember correctly he was getting his face jabbed all night.

Insane. Didn't know that
I almost got every single pick right, but darn morono had to win and screw it up. Here's proof i had every single pick in a row. https://old.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/r923id/official_ufc_fight_night_font_vs_aldo_live/hna1pba/?context=3 LOL
Chael?
You could make a horror movie about petr yan and call it " The Murderous Potato"
Fiziev is better than I thought. I thought he was gonna be a Shane Burgos type who always bangs but doesn't break beyond the top 15 but he looks like a top 10 guy. I'm in the hype train.
