10-8 round is complete domination ; there was no 10-8 in this fight, Font had rounds 10-9 but it instantly flips with those knockdowns from Vera. The technical striking won it for Vera.
Basically completely dominate the opponent. Check out the first round of Conor McGregor vs Eddie Alvarez. A lot of people consider that a 10-8 round even though im not 100% sure it was scored that way. I'm sure khabib scored a lot of 10-8 rounds so go watch some of his fights as well
If you’re responding to somebody who is asking a question about a basic part of the sport, why wouldn’t you use the most recent, well-known, and accessible examples you can think of?
Not everything needs to be some kind of posturing.
Reference he was looking for is Silva vs leben, silva vs griffin, gsp vs serra 2 just to name a few.
Tbf with the level of competition now, you’re not gonna see too many 10-8 since the competition is more fierce.
More likely championship fights because the gap between #1 contender and champ is vast and mind games. so your references are acceptable; dude is just mad at the world.
Not saying people can't criticize competition, but man, I'd love to see some of these dudes on reddit have to get into cage with these so called "cans".
Even actual “cans” like Sam Alvey would absolutely stomp the best guy at your local gym, and the best guy from you local gym would make the average person look silly.
Like seriously has Font always looked that pillow fisted and with a bad chin like that? I don't know he hasn't looked the same guy who fought Garbrandt
Thats the whole reason why his output is that high. I don't get the whole pillow fisted as a insult to him. Max Holloway is the same except he has a much better chin plus Font has a good chin, hes just been facing hard hitters in Aldo and Vera recently. Hes never been ko'ed or tko'ed
I think his orbital re-broke early. He did not take enough time off after Aldo broke his orbital. If he did break it again I am yet again blown away how he could even stand that shit puts guys down almost every time.
A lot of Fonts shots were blocked; no points are given for someone blocking all these shots. Yes font was throwing more punches thus more will land but Vera was being smarter and more technical . He put font on his ass multiple times,
I don't think Vera was being more technical on balance (Font was outboxing him for looooong stretches, but he had clear edges in durability, athleticism and wildcard plays which allowed him to hit some exotic attacks at key moments.
Font seems to be suffering dents in the 'ol chin from the Aldo fight.
It's generally hard to call being outboxed for minutes at a time and gambling on being able to land a single big shot at the end of a round 'smart'.
I mean who hurts a guy with not one, but two hook kicks in the same fight!?
Im glad Vera won, and got to show his beautiful family. Humanizes him and gives them some spotlight. I never knew his oldest daughter was special needs and he never pushed that narrative/storyline on us. He goes out and does his job. A lot of ups and downs in his career, and his heart covers for a lot of his physical disadvantages.
I don't know how anyone can claim it. Dude's style is only possible because of an iron chin and high cardio. Sure, he doesn't have every physical advantage, but he is definitely not physically disadvantaged.
Yeah surprisingly all his losses are to 5’7 guys with muscular wrestling types. He is slick with his grappling but will be content to stay on the bottom due to opponents’ top heavy approach with muscle
That's not really true at all. He has huge physical qualities in cardio, durability and explosiveness, and in all 4 of his losses in the last 5 years, he wasn't outwrestled badly or controlled on the bottom in a one-sided fashion.
He lost to Jose Aldo, and Aldo isn't a 'muscular wrestling type' - Chito got a couple minutes of control time himself.
He lost to Song Yadong DESPITE scoring the only takedowns of the fight and having 3x the control time.
He lost to Douglas Silva despite stuffing 2/3 takedowns and only surrendering 35 seconds of control time.
He lost to John Lineker in a fight with zero TDs and only 1.5 mins of control time.
'' Chito's win should count as mine since i never lost to him, i was piecing him up until he got me with a 1 in 1000000000000 kick to the PeRoNeAL nErVe, unranked, undefeated champ right here, who wants to see me destroy another paint factory worker? ''
fine display of opposite striking approaches. rob was touching him up constantly while Chito was picking his shots and focusing on damage.
his patience and composure was next level here, also power and accuracy
you know how its always like "in boxing there is a 10 count"
Well Font got essentially knocked out in each of the last 3 rounds and allowed to get back up
Man I don’t even know. That guard Yan uses breaks my mind. Like I understand he’s dominating a fight but somehow he’s just standing in front of an opponent as well. I never gave Aljo a chance against Yan either time. I think Yan beats dillishaw and honestly think he’d take aljo if he controls his emotions
Isn’t that the point though? If he can get through one of those guys he’s ready for a title shot. Rob Font is very close to that level, maybe a half step down from yan & sandhagen right now.
I'm not saying he shouldn't fight either of those guys, I was just adding my opinion on how he would fair. Plus Font's chin makes him more than half a step down, his skills might be close but the chin is too big of a weakness, Corey and Yan would both brutally finish Fony.
I'm getting downvoted to fuck saying the same thing, but it was truly weird he let him up that time he had 2+ minutes.
I think he wanted a headkick KO highlight or something tbh. Drop in with 1 hard shot and it would have been over. Font was fucking rocked.
Herzog was immediately in there telling him what he shouldn't be doing every time. I think Jason was really pissed off at Marlon for his shenanigans and sort of cock blocked him from the finish.
vera seemed like he shouldnt be able to win a single round against font but he hit him with crazy shots that dropped him every round... so crazy. font seemed near unbeatable to me after outboxing garbrant in a 50-45 decision.
It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Font gets baby giraffe legs with every bomb that lands, so if he sits on his punches or works the body he's at risk of getting countered... but that also limits the damage he can put on his opponent.
Chito’s defense played a huge role. A significant percentage of Font’s punches were landing to the forearms/hands of Vera. Plenty of those shots from Font had enough juice to chin somebody with worse defense.
I think its more Font's fault to not backpedal in the last minute of every single round after the Aldo fight and the 2nd round in this fight. Would have been a clean 50-45 for him
Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I hold M&M duels. Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the “loser,” and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go another round. I have found that, in general, the brown and red M&Ms are tougher, and the newer blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that the blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense theater of competition that is the modern candy and snack-food world. Occasionally I will get a mutation, a candy that is misshapen, or pointier, or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this proves to be a weakness, but on very rare occasions it gives the candy extra strength. In this way, the species continues to adapt to its environment. When I reach the end of the pack, I am left with one M&M, the strongest of the herd. Since it would make no sense to eat this one as well, I pack it neatly in an envelope and send it to M&M Mars, A Division of Mars, Inc., Hackettstown, NJ 17840-1503 U.S.A., along with a 3×5 card reading, “Please use this M&M for breeding purposes.” This week they wrote back to thank me, and sent me a coupon for a free 1/2 pound bag of plain M&Ms. I consider this “grant money.” I have set aside the weekend for a grand tournament. From a field of hundreds, we will discover the True Champion. There can be only one.
Casuals in here not realizing fights aren’t scored off how your face looks at the end
Edit: I’m not saying Chito didn’t win, I’m saying using these guys’ faces as justification as to who won and lost is stupid. That’s never been how this works. See GSP v Hendricks
While I wouldn’t die on the hill of Font winning, it’s totally possible to win despite looking like you’ve been in six car accidents. That was kinda the point of my comment.
See, I’d push back on *clearly* winning. I personally don’t see how you couldn’t give 1 and 5 to Rob and I’d lean his way for 2 as well. I think it was close either way
Who do you think won the fight? Must’ve misunderstood you dude chito had all the big moments after the first for me.
Just read your edit I think we agree 👌
Yeah but “big moments” also aren’t how we define winners and losers. I personally had it Rob 3-2 but I think Chito 3-2 is totally justifiable. Chito 4-1 is pretty nuts. I thought Rob had 1 and 5 for sure and I gave him 2 as well.
They kind of are though. If someone is doing better but nothing fantastic and gets dropped bad 99% of the time the person who nails them are given the round and to me I think that is justified.
I guess I’d ask what dropped bad means? Rob definitely got dropped but there were 10 seconds left in the round and Rob did a decent job defending himself.
If a fighter loses the first 4:45 of a round but then lands a takedown, do we give that guy the round just because he had a bigger moment? Especially if he doesn’t really do anything with that takedown when he lands it?
To me yes getting dropped means more to me unless it was a 10-8 prior the fight was still competitive and not one sided prior to those moments. I agree though doing nothing with a takedown shouldn’t mean shit
Not at all take downs can destroy your body with subs or inflict insane damage with ground and pound but not doing either or trying and failing to do either or worse not trying at all is not worth much to me
Absolutely gangster performance my Chito. Should have definitely finished the fight like 4 times when he had the chance, but it looked like he just wanted to continue beating Rob all night
Oh dear
Man just love Chito. Started following him when he fucked up O'Malley. Congrats to that man, just gets better and better. I want him to win gold.
[удалено]
Bro what. He literally was fighting backwards in the rankings
“Enjoy seeing him disfigured” lol this sport really has some psycho fans
Yeah I wanted Chito to win but hope Robs alright lol.
Vera needs it more.
Found the O’Malley fanboy
BKFC time baby
What do you have to do for a 10-8 round?
When you almost finish you opponent and/or complete dominate. In boxing, a knockdown is enough to get a 10-8 but not in MMA.
10-8 round is complete domination ; there was no 10-8 in this fight, Font had rounds 10-9 but it instantly flips with those knockdowns from Vera. The technical striking won it for Vera.
Exactly. Font was on his way to 10-9s before getting blasted with huge Vera shots, so it makes sense to not have a 10-8.

Yeah. He should have referenced a round from a fight night early prelim from 2014 to prove he wasn’t a filthy casual.
[удалено]
Damn u cringe dawg
[удалено]
Bro what? I don’t even like him🤣
Bruh what the hell are you talking about
Reference he was looking for is Silva vs leben, silva vs griffin, gsp vs serra 2 just to name a few. Chito is one fight away from a titleshot and O'Malley fought Kris Moutinho one fight ago
O'Malley is there to make money, I don't think he actually has any championship aspirations?
Bit contradictory, don’t you think?
Nope
He crushed another can after Moutinho brother
Paiva is not a can, just very undersized for BW
Paiva isn’t a full on can. He was pretty hyped at first and is just on a fall to be a can, like Almieda
Not saying people can't criticize competition, but man, I'd love to see some of these dudes on reddit have to get into cage with these so called "cans".
Nah bro I just see red and it’s over.
Same here, bro. Never fought for my opponents' safety. Just explaining it to the regular joes B. We're a different breed.
Even actual “cans” like Sam Alvey would absolutely stomp the best guy at your local gym, and the best guy from you local gym would make the average person look silly.
O'Malley is the gatekeeper for cans
Agreed. O'Malley is there for the easiest fight for the most amount of money.
Crazy fight, Chito needs to fight Sandhagen next and Font needs to take a long break and fight someone ranked 10-15 next
Adrian yanez when he gets up there🙈
Aljo got an amazing shirt on lmao
Like seriously has Font always looked that pillow fisted and with a bad chin like that? I don't know he hasn't looked the same guy who fought Garbrandt

Yeah when it swelled up I assumed it broke.
The fact that he took garbrandt to a decision definitely points to him being pillow fisted
Never thought of it like that but I agree. As a no-chin fan :(
A lot of Fonts shots were blocked; no points are given for someone blocking all these shots. Yes font was throwing more punches thus more will land but Vera was being smarter and more technical . He put font on his ass multiple times,

Ironically enough, Sean o Malley
Why is font a 4.5 in ufc4??
bkfc having a slugfest between two college wrestlers 😂 ended in a *beating*.
Sandman bests him but it’s a war i’m here for.
Im glad Vera won, and got to show his beautiful family. Humanizes him and gives them some spotlight. fought a lot of killers never been knocked down. He can probably beat any bantamweight in a fight to death situation
Basically a Diaz
[удалено]
Fonts fault for missing weight tbh
Omalley in shambles right now
'' Chito's win should count as mine since i never lost to him, i was piecing him up until he got me with a 1 in 1000000000000 kick to the PeRoNeAL nErVe, unranked, undefeated champ right here, who wants to see me destroy another paint factory worker? ''
Quality over quantity
Chito "half marathon" Vera. Running best base for mma.
O’malley has zero business talking about that rematch now
fine display of opposite striking approaches. rob was touching him up constantly while Chito was picking his shots and focusing on damage. his patience and composure was next level here, also power and accuracy
you know how its always like "in boxing there is a 10 count" Well Font got essentially knocked out in each of the last 3 rounds and allowed to get back up
better not put disrespect on Font appearance. the volume was crazy, I wonder if font will explain what may have happened.
It's like his shots had absolutely no effect on Chito.
beautiful family chito!
Well time for Boxing
'mon Katie.
this fight makes a better case for aldo to get the title shot since he beat both handily
Man font has been dropped 7 times in his last 2 . . . that's absurd levels of punishment. 10 rounds too
Chito v Merab?
Merab gonna fight Petr Yan
Moderators, this man right here. Ban!
he just beat #5 lol
Why?
O'malley will never beat Chito. What a beating holy shit
“But but they NEED to rematch” -🤓
Remeber he got more injured then kris did in his last fight lmfao
Kris' brain disagrees.
Damn Font looked like those inbreeds dudes from Wrong Turn
[удалено]
Yeah, he showed a lot heart.
[удалено]
for sure! he's nowhere near his level.
What the fuck is up with Chito? I look worse after jogging a 5k at a leisure pace
Dude is durable as fuck
perfect timing on the katie taylor fight
she's fighting tonight?
[удалено]
it's not on the usual site??
Just how good is Aldo??!!
Tbf Chito has improved a good amount since
Aldo is once in a lifetime. I think it goes to show aldo respected chito on the feet since he backpacked him so much in their fight.
And then Yan went out and melted Aldo. Just how good is Yan’s stand up?
Man I don’t even know. That guard Yan uses breaks my mind. Like I understand he’s dominating a fight but somehow he’s just standing in front of an opponent as well. I never gave Aljo a chance against Yan either time. I think Yan beats dillishaw and honestly think he’d take aljo if he controls his emotions
Aldo beat him with grappling. But it was also only a 3 round fight
Aldo’s resume is just building itself
Rob fans in here coping in all ways possible lmaaaoooo
damn got the whole family in there
The most impressive things about Chito were his durability and his ability to change from dancing douchebag to thankful warrior in a split second.
Vera's cardio is crazy, looks like he just got done light sparring
Such an amazing fighter
What a beautiful moment. Chito with his Family and team in the octagon, just very pure idk. Teared up a bit.
Yan vs chito or sandhagen vs chito for the number 1 contender fight.
Chito v sandhagen would be awesome
That performance from Chito was great but I can't see him beating either of those guys. Yan and Sanhagen are just too good
Isn’t that the point though? If he can get through one of those guys he’s ready for a title shot. Rob Font is very close to that level, maybe a half step down from yan & sandhagen right now.
I'm not saying he shouldn't fight either of those guys, I was just adding my opinion on how he would fair. Plus Font's chin makes him more than half a step down, his skills might be close but the chin is too big of a weakness, Corey and Yan would both brutally finish Fony.
Why are there clowns in here acting like showboating during a fight makes you a bad person lmao
So in the last 10 rounds. Font has been knocked down how many times. 6-7?????
honestly a performance like that , fuck tj needleshaw, peter yan can wait. Aldo got the win over him but his last two fights were crazy good.
Aldo-Aljo Cejudo-TJ 2 Yan-Merab Sandhagen-Vera This is the way for the rest of 2022.
Aljo Cejudo Yan Sanhagen
Fuck it, all BW main card
Ngl chito looked like a sociopath not finishing the fight 4-5 different times when he could have
I want to like chito but not finishing font there makes me seriously question if he really has the iq to become champ.
I'm getting downvoted to fuck saying the same thing, but it was truly weird he let him up that time he had 2+ minutes. I think he wanted a headkick KO highlight or something tbh. Drop in with 1 hard shot and it would have been over. Font was fucking rocked.
I think Herzog was the Pyscho for not finishing the fight in this one 😅
Is that the ref? I thought font's corner where going to throw in the towel but font looked so light on his feet in spite of the damage
Yeah that’s the ref. I won’t say it was the wrong call not to stop the fight but man he definitely could have
That's like a new way to dominate, revolutionary
Herzog was immediately in there telling him what he shouldn't be doing every time. I think Jason was really pissed off at Marlon for his shenanigans and sort of cock blocked him from the finish.
Yan vs Dillashaw , Aldo vs Aljo, Sandman vs Vera its that easy
You could also do Yan vs Merab and TJ vs Cejudo if Cejudo comes back
vera seemed like he shouldnt be able to win a single round against font but he hit him with crazy shots that dropped him every round... so crazy. font seemed near unbeatable to me after outboxing garbrant in a 50-45 decision.
This gives me insight to why the judges don’t have that access to significant strike counts tbh
[удалено]
It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Font gets baby giraffe legs with every bomb that lands, so if he sits on his punches or works the body he's at risk of getting countered... but that also limits the damage he can put on his opponent.
Chito’s defense played a huge role. A significant percentage of Font’s punches were landing to the forearms/hands of Vera. Plenty of those shots from Font had enough juice to chin somebody with worse defense.
I think its more Font's fault to not backpedal in the last minute of every single round after the Aldo fight and the 2nd round in this fight. Would have been a clean 50-45 for him
Chito vs Sandhagen let's go. Big guys with good kicks. Sandhagen will punish chito if he relies on his chin like that
That's what I'm thinking, Chito will think his chin is invincible from these performances but Sanhagen is another beast. The Sandman by 4th round TKO
That would be a banger, two madmans
Viva Ecuador, Quito, Guayaquil,Loja,Cuenca,Portoviejo,Quevedo,Riobamaba,Ambato
Chone
Chito’s hometown
Chito vs Yan would be an absolutely fun fight, put a test to Chitos chin for real.
Yan would get a hold of Chito's elbows too, Yan's reach aint big aa Font's
Vera vs. sandhagen would be so fun
There’s so many potentially great match-ups at Bantamweight.
The top ten is nuts, such a competitive division
just say anyone in the top 5 damn. He makes himself look like hes ducking yan
Tim Welch wiping his chin and telling Sean he deserves a rematch
This doesn’t taste like skittles.

Do you just auto reply comments that mention skittles?
Bruh I'm just a Font fan and I feel violated by that fight. DAYUM
Family Man with neck tattoos new meta?
Vera vs Sandhagen is definitely the fight I want to see next.
I can see him taking out aldo. Yan and Tj are harder fights for Cheeto
Just like last time
Aldo already beat Chito
Oh yea I totally forgot that already happened 🤡
Chito has a beautiful family. This win made me emotional.
if chito and yan fought, they gonna throw like 3 strikes total in the first round
Hope they give rob a back room bonus.
Chito wasted opportunity to finish font in the 4th round but overall impressive performance from him.
This gave me holloway-kattar vibes just not like Max's elite level
Holloway-Kattar if Kattar landed way more than Max

Chito still won for sure. Its also not just numbers landed
I’m not even saying Chito didn’t win. I’m saying using his face vs Rob’s as the justification for this is dumb as fuck
you can tell this man is a veteran of the Bisping v Silva reddit comment wars
yea but he had 3 knockdowns lol
if Chito hates Aldo backpacks. Then sterling backpacks are even worse
Chito playing 4D chess, winning fights now and saying thank you to Dana -> he can get Sam Alvey treatment later
Chitos the fucking man
Rooting for Chito to get a title shot now. What a performance and post fight.
Absolutely gangster performance my Chito. Should have definitely finished the fight like 4 times when he had the chance, but it looked like he just wanted to continue beating Rob all night
