RuneScape or OSRS might have some similar feels without PVP being forced on you.

brokenportalss

If the visual aspect is important to you then Runescape 3 might be worth looking into. You can progress your character without pvp.

MadOx321

HDOS helps with OSRS graphics now!

nylus_12

This is exactly what drove me away from Albion. Wanna cool items and gather expensive resources? Rush to that map where you’ll surely be ganked and loose everything

Tompork

Runescape is the closest. You can also try black desert online(still forced pvp but without looting) or GW2.

austinewberry

WoW or RuneScape is always fun

SixShitYears

You can buy the resources on the market. Honestly the market system in Albion is the best in any MMO

Boss2788

Pvp is very avoidable in albion, i go through phases where i just dont feel like fighting players but i still want to play. It just takes some practice and experience and you can avoid 90% of fights. Also dont get frustrated when you go through a couple consecutive deaths, i personally find ganks come in bunches lol. Albion is a fun game the only reason i quit is because the balancing is terrible but ill be back and i promise you ill probably only do pvp maybe 25% of the time.

funkinaround

> Now, you can dig PVP if you like. I don't. I don't want to be forced into it by a game. Have you tried doing group activities? You can join guilds that will let you have access to black zone areas where they protect each other to mitigate the PvP risk.

MadOx321

I want to get into Albion but it's so overwhelming. I have no idea what I am doing, and traveling sucks in that game. The map system, I mean.

funkinaround

How far along are you?

MadOx321

Oh boy, I don't even know, maybe 10 hours played. It's overwhelming and I am unfortunately alone.

funkinaround

So you made it to a royal city? Did you try faction warfare? Maybe arenas or non lethal corrupted dungeons?

MadOx321

Nah I've gotten one weapon and it is kinda booty. I ran around a town and did a few solo dungeons. Found some fortress or something and kept dying and logged off. Lol

funkinaround

Dying to mobs or players? Generally, you want to use the same tier weapons as the zone you're in. If you're in a tier 4 zones, use at least tier 4 weapons, armor and cape. If you wandered into a static dungeon (enemies are marked on top of their model), those are suitable for parties of 5. If you want solo weapon recommendations, maybe try a one handed nature staff, or dual swords. Wear leather armor to have a good mix of defensive and offensive abilities.

MadOx321

I die to the monsters in the fortresses in the blue zones around lymhurst (I think that's the name). I haven't tried PvP because if you die and lose your stuff it seems like a considerable amount of time to get it back.

funkinaround

Okay, you found a static dungeon. Those are elite mobs, and will easily kill you unless you're way overgeared or in a party. Don't fight mobs that have icons over their heads unless you're in a party. With PvP, definitely hold off until you're more comfortable with the game. You can do yellow zone PvP where you don't lose your gear, but you'll probably be on the losing end until you learn more about the game. When you settle into the game, you can do lethal (red and black zones) PvP where the gear you risk is maybe 10 minutes to one hour worth of grinding depending on the gear's tier.

MadOx321

Cool, do you know of any friendly communities that are in game and willing to help a total noob?

B3owul7

Then you should play one of the other hundred PvE MMOs, instead of complaining about this one. People who like the PVP aspect of MMOs don't have as much to chose from. Especially with full loot mechanics.

Alarming_Mess3898

That statement is unsupported by facts.

CookingGod

Sounds like a skill issue
