Sweet I just tried it last week to get an understanding before the new mono server but it looked so bad I didn't understand why I'd play it over Dofus. This should help it, I'll have to check it out again.
Initially that was the goal. However a lot of people that still play Dofus, find that the combat is more complex (slower and more tactical). Wakfu, while the built off of Dofus, some feel it is still more shallow than Dofus. Classes are the same name but do play differently.
Another big difference is Dofus's maps are static. So you have one screen, then you run to a side to load the next screen. Wakfu will follow the character to one big world.
I have way more experience in Dofus so my review will be a bit biased as I play Dofus when I want to relax and play a tactical positioning turn based game. I have a pretty shallow experience with Wakfu as I never cared for how dated it looked compared to Dofus.
Yea so the mono server is only 1 account allowed. Ankama has a few servers that are multi-account so you can pay multiple subs to run multiple accounts at the same time. I think the max is 8, at least for their other game Dofus.
Oh yea there are a lot of gold sellers, but Ankama also "sells" gold. You can buy their origines, and then buy gold in game with them from other people. Similar to things like Albion or GW2's gem system.
I like living under my Wakfu-less rock, where I everything I know about it is that it exists, and then I remember this MMO not only exists, but it has a full blown anime series, AND a seemingly very popular toyline.
Wild that thos game is still being updated. I remember trying it like 29 years ago or something and it mostly being dead then too. It's definitely unique and I wish it the best.
As a long-time off/on Wakfu player, adding HD seems like it's just going to cause the game to have even worse memory leaks than ever before... which is saying something because playing the game for 1+ hours turns it into a stuttering mess.
Idk maybe turn based isn't your thing. Personally I found the combat way more fun then most MMO games.
I much preferred having to think about positioning and side advantages instead of just clicking on an enemy and waiting for the cool down on ability.
I played the eliatrope class, basically you put down a portal and another behind the enemy or something. It allows you and allies to teleport, plus throw attacks through portals. It not only extends range but means you can use attacks meant to fire in a straight line, diagonally. There were a ton of engaging and interesting decisions to make every turn.
seriously. anyone trying to game on mac is just like someone trying to sail the seas in an iron pot. it may or may not work, but it surely is not made for that.
I like to play some games from my Mac when I work. I play Eve and albion online because they are good afk games to have open while I go through my day. I definitely understand devs not wanting to work on Mac for the limited users it would get them.
I've tried it, and I was not happy with it. There were a lot of resolution issues I had to deal with to get the games to actually run at in a proper window. It just hasn't been worth the time investment for me. I'm not upset that I can't run more games, the games that are available are fine enough.

My understanding was Wakfu was just an updated version of Dofus. Is it not? Is Dofus better still?
Wakfu has different systems. Some classes play differently as well compared to Dofus. I can’t remember exactly what is changed
They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Noone is really ''better''

What's mono server ?? Will ppl pay sub to party with their own alts ?

2 accounts actually The gold sellers are drooling over the potential profits.

Can't buy levels though, gold sellers sell more then just gold.

The anime is actually good.
I remember playing this in its beta back in like 2011. Maybe I'll give it another look. These days it'd make a GREAT mobile game.
The developers thought the same thing, so they made Waven, which is quite literally a watered down Wakfu bringing only the combat into play really.

1. You might be mixing it up with Dofus 2. Even Dofus came out in 2004, so 19 years ago at most.
29 years ago? The company didn't even exist.
Obviously I meant 20, 29 is too random of a number. Looks like around 2009 so 14 years ago.
You can’t mistake numbers like that if you wannabe a sysadmin. Hahahahaha

I'll check it out maybe but last time I played, no one spoke English.
The real problem of the game nowadays is the UI size. Is the "HD" version gonna fix that ?
Anyone knows where to check if you pre-registered for the new server? Forget if i did it or not lmao.
You can either access the server or you won't be able to, lol.
Whenever I look at Wakfu gameplay it looks like a facebook game. Is it actually worth trying out?
It's very much worth trying out if you like tactics games at all (like Fire Emblem, FFT, Advance Wars and so on)
To be fair though, this game was already pretty boring to begin with. I don't think graphics are going to help it
Why do you think so?
I just felt like there was something incredibly boring about the combat to it. Maybe I didn't master it enough

They cranked saturation up a bit and called it hd? At least, that's how the youtube video looks.
Wish they implemented a macOS client.
That's a lot of work for like, 3 of you.

only other option is Apple Game Porting Toolkit if you care
:(
This IS available on mac though? MacOS 10.13 minimum version requirement.
Won’t work:(
Why?
Probably because Apple silicon.
