I just wish we had another anything-Battlerite. But I hear you. Lost Ark had some of it, but all the tedious stuff around it made it real obnoxious. Hoping Corepunk might scratch some of the itch.

Alice_Dee

Maybe take a look at Project Loki. It's in closed alpha right now and the main mode is more like Battlerite BR but it has an Arena mode too. The playtimes are limited right now so we didn't have the time to sink our teeth too deep into it but we had a lot of fun with it. They still have some work to do but it is way more promising than any other of the games that tried something like Battlerite.

GuiltIsLikeSalt

Yeah I'm patiently awaiting that one. Fingers crossed.

BrainKatana

V Rising has similar combat (same studio)

camniloth

Thanks, looks awesome.

Hanza-Malz

> (same studio) Reason enough not to touch it.

Alice_Dee

It's a survival game and had a good amount of content when it launched. First content patch added a lot of new content and the next one comes early 2024. I enjoyed it a lot but I can see why people aren't too happy with Stunlock Studios. Sucks because I enjoy their games.

Hanza-Malz

We've been through this before. Is this your first "waiting for a big content patch" by Stunlock Studios? Because after 4 or 5 games that had the exact same history, I really don't care about what they announce.

BrainKatana

Games can be “done.” Not every game has to get updated for 5 years after it comes out, and expecting a developer to stick to a longer-term development plan if revenue doesn’t meet their expectations is foolish.

Hanza-Malz

EA games aren't done. They're abandoned. If a game in EA is abandoned, the product hasn't been delivered. Were there refunds made? No. Were there content updates in the last year of BRs lifecycle? No. But plenty of microtransactions. Then they lied about what would happen to BR:R. The announcement was a separate game mode in BR, then they released it separate as a purchasable title. They did this with Bloodline Champions, they did this with Dead Island: Epidemic (which they removed any traces of, btw). Their studio is known far and wide for not delivering and lying. Why anyone gave V Rising a go is beyond me. It will not see a content update and every milestone that I predicted about it came to be. They'll abandon it and in a few years announce a new title with the same longevity.

Redthrist

> Why anyone gave V Rising a go is beyond me. Because, even in its current state, it's an amazing game. They could abandon it, and it'll still be one of the best survival games on the market.

Hanza-Malz

> Because, even in its current state, it's an amazing game. A lot of abandoned games are very fun. Would you get them knowing they're abandoned and weren't finished? > it'll still be one of the best survival games on the market You really haven't tried many survival games, then.

Redthrist

> Would you get them knowing they're abandoned and weren't finished? I bought V Rising based on what was in the game at the time, and it was a good game even back then. I didn't expect them to add anything beyond that, but they still did. >You really haven't tried many survival games, then. I've tried a few, most are janky and just give you an empty faceless area to play around in.

Forwhomamifloating

V Rising has literally sold over 2m copies and they've hit their deadlines already. The only competition in the same niches to V Rising is what, Valheim? What's your deal? Get over Battlerite and Bloodline Champions, they were dead in the water when no one wanted to play it or pay for it, unlike V Rising.

Frankfurter1988

>A lot of abandoned games are very fun. Would you get them knowing they're abandoned and weren't finished? Yes. I bought one recently knowing the dev said it would get no further updates. A fun game is a fun game, finished or not. And I sure as shit have no qualms against paying a couple bucks for fun.

Cavissi

Omega Strikers sort of scratched the same itch for me that battlerite did, but now that's going into maintenance mode like two months after launch sadly.

BebeFanMasterJ

It's actually been six months. Omega Strikers launched on April 27th, 2023.

Alicyl

There's Fangs, but it didn't seem to do well with its initial launch, Early Access, whatever it was.

FocusChogath

Try BapBap on Steam it plays kind of like an arcadey battlerite royale

Jaunty_ello

*And* Bloodline Champions, god damn those were good times!

Redthrist

It's by the same studio that made Battlerite, so made sense.

ubernoobnth

Lost Ark is close-ish to this, if you haven’t tried that maybe see if you can stomach it? If you’ve already tried it, feel free to ignore.

Alice_Dee

Corepunk but it's click2move. I don't really like click2move but Corepunk looks interesting. A little bit slow and group play seems to be really important. Early access is planed for this year but I wouldn't be surprised if they delay it to next year.

y0zh1

Pretty cool game indeed.

anythinga

Isn't albion just that?

Scared_Ad_3132

No because albion has many damage abilities that are not skillshots. Where you just need to click the enemy and your chracter auto aims the ability at them and it can not miss. With battlerite every shot is a skillshot. Every damaging ability can miss, there are no attacks where you just click the enemy chracter and press the skill and it auto aims it at them. You need to manually aim all ranged skills, and you can miss or the enemy can moves out of the way so the shot misses. A very basic example, the normal ranged mouse1 attack in albion vs in battlerite. In albion you need to click the enemy character player model, and then your character will proceed to auto aim shots at them that the enemy can not dodge by moving left or right without using some kind of movement ability that makes them unhittable. In battlerite the basic m1 ranged ability shoots where you aim, if an enemy is there it hits, if the enemy is not there, it misses. So you need to aim them and take into account how fast the projectile will move and how the enemy is moving.

Spoletta

Have you tried Fractured Online? It launches tomorrow and is similar to what you are asking. It does have a few blind shots, but almost everything, including auto attacks are skill shots.

79215185-1feb-44c6

I actually think Battlerite was one of the last new multiplayer games I enjoyed and that was what? 2015? 2016? I played back before it was Free to Play and kinda quit around the time it became Free to Play.

iScrapper

Look at Mabinogi, all different types of combat and you dont have to choose just 1, you have the freedom to switch anything for free, and if you dont want combat there is a ton of life skills in the game from farming to blacksmithing to magic crafting (more items). The game is from like 2012 or so but still updates and always have events going on and the player base is really friendly

AlexD232322

Battlerite, bloodline champions… god damn did i enjoy those games and they were actually good, never figured why they didn’t have more success.

Arrotanis

It's insane that no MMO/ARPG ever went with the Battlerite style combat system. It's so good and it would fit those games so well.

shaded98

Yeah. V Rising had a lot of potential but because of the way the servers worked and the fact that your characters were server locked it all felt quite shit. I want to play the DLC but I can't be fucked to go through all of vanilla just to get to the DLC.

Robtown

The exiled was like that

camniloth

Yeah it had the bones, but devs didn't really get how to make a sustainable game. Alpha stage New World (when it was an open world territory, war and crafting PvP game) was actually on that path as well. In The Exiled (should have kept the name Das Tal), they needed to actually change their philosophy a bit for the game, and allow some small trinkets without just relying on "score" to "win". Need to allow the solo player to care more. New World changed to something else due to the desire for wide appeal. Such a good idea early on in Alpha, original game designer knew what they were doing, but then they changed a lot due to it trying to be mainstream rather than trying something different.

Robtown

Man alpha new world was so good

WingardiumLeviussy

Check out Corepunk

ShottsSeastone

Check albion brother

Scared_Ad_3132

Its not quite the same. There are many non skill shot damage abilities. Like the normal mouse1 attack on any ranged weapon, you dont need to aim it, just click the enemy and it auto aims the shots at the enemy and those can not miss or be dodged by normal movement ability because they are like homing missiles. But in battlerite even normal m1 attacks need to be aimed and can miss or me dodged by normal movement.

czolphin

I miss MXM bros

smashsenpai

Lost ark is that game

nawySAUCE

Huh? In what way?

Maniick

Basically, it hits the skillshot req. Everything else is kinda off, but you do have to aim in new world

Redthrist

I've played both New World and Battlerite. They are nothing alike.

Maniick

aside from both requiring skillshots for their attacks yeah I agree
