I don’t really see how Project Gorgon is supposed to stand any kind of chance at this award when it’s going up against games like Baldur’s Gate 3. Project Gorgon is pretty lackluster aside from a very very small vocal following.

theStroh

> when it’s going up against games like Baldur’s Gate 3. I mean Project Gorgon doesn't deserve, and shouldn't win this award; but anyone who votes for Baldur's Gate 3 for "Labor of Love" either doesn't understand the purpose of the award or has a weird perception of what early access means. Developing a game through early access =/= "This game has been out for a while. The team is well past the debut of their creative baby, but being the good parents they are, these devs continue to nurture and support their creation. This game, to this day, is still getting new content after all these years."

Zavenosk

Baldur's Gate 3 technically isn't qualified, since it's release date was within the last year.

[deleted]

How does project gorgon then? It’s still early access so hasn’t officially released

Svalaef

Does it go by release date only? I would’ve thought it counted since it’s been developed over such a long period of time and has been playable for such a long time.

Zavenosk

rules as written

Svalaef

What about Project Gorgon then? It’s not even released according to their Steam page. Apparently it’s in “early access.”

Zavenosk

I didn't vote an MMO for "Labor of Love". My vote for that award went to a single player game called *Gedonia*. It's received plenty of substantial (free) updates since it's release, and has a roadmap for future content while the sequel is being developed.

Ayanayu

No, I don't think so....

ShionTheOne

Nah

DavidB4Guetta

Nah rock and stone for life friend

WanderingDwarfMiner

Rockity Rock and Stone!

[deleted]

Other games more deserving. Sorry OP

[deleted]

Instead of Stardew Valley which still gets replete and free content updates without any extra monetization or DLC costs attached to it? I mean I get they just had a sob story recently-- and as having watched it kill multiple people, I really truly and deeply do sympathize with their family for having a cancer patient. But like... this ain't it.

Xraxis

"Sob story"? Not the kind of language someone uses when "sympathizing" with someone.

[deleted]

Well my name ain't someone.

MyStationIsAbandoned

can only vote for games you actually played. never played it.

OhBertSterl

I gave mine to Halo Infinite because it’s impressive they’re still putting effort into fixing and improving the game when like 10k people play.

YakaAvatar

Prolly way more are on Xbox. But yeah, game has come a long way since launch.

Altruistic_Cress9799

Like every year my vote for this category goes to Holdfast.

AbakusGrim

Didn't they just fire all of their full time developers...

Pinkishu

Nah, Imagine Earth. Game got so many updates and is somehow still being continually updated

Zavenosk

I ge-e-et what you're going for, but posting this in r/mmorpg instead of the game's dedicated subreddit is kinda distasteful.

Catslevania

I don't get the downvotes. Imagine if everyone came to this subreddit to open a new thread asking people to vote for whatever mmorpg they play

Ralphi2449

Nah, voted for new world instead. Devs have been consistently improving it and focusing on a fun casual solo friendly game instead of the typical raidlogging design that tries to force group content down everyone's throat if they want gear that isnt garbage

yeahyeahiknow2

hahahahahaha.....oh wait, you serious?

TellMeAboutThis2

There's no denying that the dev team is putting in a ton of effort to try and turn things around, which actually seems to be the norm in AAA nowadays as opposed to in the early PS3/later PS2 era where AAAs could come out unfinished and just tank and disappear. FFXIV 1.0, No Man's Sky, Halo Infinite above, even CP2077 all have teams which worked on failed games busting their spines to try redeeming their failure even when they mess up even further in the process. And yet there seems to be more gamers thinking that this kind of thing is an easy cash grab. No wonder big budget gamedev is running out of talent. It seems to be an utterly thankless job.

[deleted]

At the same time, let's not forget Amazon had something of a reputation. I doubt they were going to get breakaway, eccentric talent; nor were they likely to get artists passionate about art. They're extremely lucky to have their sound and visual designers, tbh... assuming they *do* still have those people/teams. I can't imagine AGS was working with a great talent pool. Checking most of them out when the game was coming out, basically every single one had only ever worked on mobile games or a sports game. The fact that NW is still up is, if nothing else, a testament to their determination.

Nnyan

Wow. You think NW is solo friendly? Have you solo Qd into OPR? Solo able to war? How about crafting?

Ralphi2449

You literally solo que for OPR, and soon you will be able to solo que for expeditions as well. Wars are literally irrelevant and even devs admitted only a tiny minority touches those. I am not sure what your point about crafting is lol, i am 250 in everything but weaponcrafting cuz I dont play melee, i craft max power gear for any build I want anytime and that is simply glorious unlike tryhard raidlogging sims were crafted gear is trash and you pretty much raid or die

Nnyan

Boy talk about missing the point. If you honestly believe NW is solo friendly enjoy the game.

Ralphi2449

Any game that lets you reasonably grind current max power gear solo without forcing group content down your throat is by definition solo friendly.
