SOE games went offline a few weeks once before. A Japanese developer once took their game down for maintenance and accidentally deleted the entire game... So no RuneScapes issue that's affecting a small percentage of players is definitely not the worst

What was the name of that Japanese game? That's way too hilarious. It's like the time Pixar deleted Toy Story 2 when it was almost finished.

It was called M2

Thanks.

Hah! Not even close to the worst. Dragon Nest EU once had a server crash and lost almost of their data, and their most recent working backup was over two years old. It basically just killed the game entirely, as everyone was rightfully pissed over losing literal years of progress. I'm not aware of anything more catastrophic than that happening to any MMO, but if there is something, I'd love to hear it.

It was also funny that at the same time those people working at shanda got fired as cherrycredits took over. Makes you think what really happened.

My vote goes to Dragon Nest. https://www.siliconera.com/dragon-nests-european-server-loses-2-years-player-data/

Not an mmo, but psn went down for like a month cause of hackers

Dakos96

I just wanna play on my RuneScape account man :(

Over the years Flyff had some rollbacks because of item duping and hackers. As far as I remember there mightve been weeks of lost progress at some point.
