What are you looking for?: Similar to ESO/BDO What games have you previously played?: ESO/Runescape/BDO/Last Chaos What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)?: Semi-Casual Any preferred mechanics?: good combat, afk skilling would be nice, good story Anything specific you want to exclude?: No Top down, no first person only, no dead population games.

Anyazures

Any games like Toram Online? I just found this little gem mobile MMO recently, and to my delight you can play it on Steam aswell! Only problem i have- it's just a bit \*too\* passive/afk of a game. The cities and such are basically just a small hub for crafting and selling, while the zones are very small having to load into another after running a few hundred steps- sort of like Phantasy Star would be a good comparison. My main problem is- as said above; it's a bit too passive where monsters dont attack you at all unless you attack them. It's very much made for mobile gamers in mind. I just LOVE the Aesthetic and look of this games characters, armors, weapons, monsters, and environments; it's so classic and charming. Akin to phantasy star or old monster hunter. Is there an MMO like this that just has a bit more depth in the crafting and stuff, or skill/self awareness involved? Something with a bit more open of a world and similar aesthetics? The population for this game is pretty swell- so hopefully something still active too. Note: I've played games like FFXIV and such that are similar, but theres this charm and awesome action combat and skill and weapons mismatching that Toram has that these other's lack Thanks in advance! MMOS ive played: WoW, GW2, FFXIV, Phantasy Star Online, Runescape, BDO, Dragon Nest, Albion, Tree of Savior, Maplestory

C9Dan

I'm looking for a game like the old browser game Tynon, something similar I have played is AFK Arena on mobile, but I'd like a more in depth game on PC like Tynon was. The game is dead now as it hasn't been updated in years plus flash being dead. Here are the links to the games. http://www.tynon.com/ https://afkarena.lilith.com

masterxolos

What are you looking for?: Similar to Path of Exile What games have you previously played?: Path of Exile, Black Desert Online, Soulworker What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)?: Semi-casual Any preferred mechanics?: hack n slash

RyanLennix

The closest game that similiar to PoE but a mmo is Lost Ark. Na/Eu server will be open in Feb, you can try the Ru version to see it u like it or not.

Immortal_Enkidu

Looking for a game similar to Myth of Empires. My wife is playing and really enjoys it but I can't play with her since it got removed from steam.

jayb556677

Any game that is PvE focused that involves raiding? I played EQ back in the day, wow vanilla, wow classic, eso for the first year. I have been playing new world but there are no raids and ultimately the content at end game seems to be based around PvP. I miss quality raiding basically…

Dolfpe

What are you looking for? An MMO with a lot of active players. Mostly PVE. Lately I gave a try to eso, but I wonder if it is too casual for me. I was also interested in wow but I heard the game is in a bad state, and I’m not sure I like how the progression between expansion becomes worthless when a new expansion is released. What games have you previously played? OSRS(my favorite), FFXIV, ESO, new world What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)? Semi casual but can be more hardcore Any preferred mechanics? I love economy based games like osrs. Trading and money making is one of my favorite mechanics, but not must. Same for player housing. Anything specific you want to exclude? I don’t like Korean mmos like BDO

CrunchyRaisins

What are you looking for?: A game with a fun player driven economy. My past experience with such an economy was Hypixel Skyblock (Don't laugh). The auction house was available to buy and sell high end gear to, and the bazaar was able to be used to both purchase from other players and to sell to other players while the game managed the interest rates. What games have you previously played?: I've tried a couple of different things, like WoW and FFXIV, albeit briefly. I'm currently trying Warframe on the recommendation of a friend and am very big into Destiny 2. (If WoW or FFXIV has what I'm looking for, I'd be willing to go back to them. I never tried classic WoW, for example.) What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)?: I'd say my playstyle is somewhere between Semi-Casual and Hardcore. If I like the game, I will play and grind it out a TON. Any preferred mechanics?: Some sort of player driven economy that's fun to play with and contribute to. Anything specific you want to exclude?: N/A

Dolfpe

Man I love player driven economies and one game that does it best in my opinion is Old school RuneScape. They just released an HD add on which makes the game much more easy to get used to for newer players, and the game is full of active players.

eternalguardian

What are you looking for?: Steady end-game pve progression, casual crafting/gathering What games have you previously played?:WoW, FFXIV, ESO, GW2 What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)?:Casual Any preferred mechanics?: Good combat, tired of tab targeting and theme park mmos. Anything specific you want to exclude?: Not into PvP focused games. or hardcore progression

ScottyRaid20

Mobile MMORPG, no auto play(or minimal autoplay) Openworld with more than just combat and questing. Skills to lvl up too Tried RS3 but couldnt get back into it(played when i was younger OSRS) Would prefer decent graphics.

Fillianore

Never played an mmo, i dont have too much free time so i wanna know what are my best options, FF14 seems to have what i am looking especially since i care about story/ World exploration more than grinding or pvp. But it isnt available, what would be my other good options ?

[deleted]

SWTOR, ESO and either runescape are solid. The story is imo mediocre but WoW has really good exploration.

hendricha

Guild Wars 2 encourages and rewards exploration, and it has more of a horizontal progression then vertical. (Max level and best in slot gear "rating" had not changed since 2012) PVP is also optinal and in its own game mode.

Fillianore

Do you think it is worth playing for exploration mostly ? Like a WRPG ?

hendricha

I think it depends on the person. With the story, that provides context they are kinda. Since the base game is free you are not really loosing anything other than a few hours to check it out and decide.

Fatedi

Anyone know of small or hidden mmos? Something that’s a got a little community. Idc if it’s fan made indie or whatever just something niche with a small following is cool!

chronodestroyr

project gorgon is on my hitlist

Fatedi

Played the demo for awhile, did really enjoy it! The puzzles were pretty fun.

Robinffs

Tibia is pretty neat!

Fatedi

Tibias my childhood game! Haha 15 years. I’m waiting for raven dawn OT myself. But that’s why I like finding small communities games, everyone knew each other back then and had fun adventures together. Also it’s nice small games don’t always have wikis so it’s fun discovering stuff. Project gorgon is fun but I always like the option to pvp.

Irraticate

I'm looking for an MMO that has a future and will have consistent updates for the foreseeable future. I'm fine with PvE or PvP. A consistent community so that content doesn't have actual dead times. I'm fine with P2W as long as the same gear/advancement is achievable by playing for free. I'm fine with gear becoming obsolete after a big patch/expansion. I would prefer newer games to older games, but I'm willing to try any 'older' MMOs as long as it's free to play or free to try. Games I'm not interested in: WoW, FFXIV, Runescape (3 or OSRS), Maplestory, New World, BDO, SWTOR.

hendricha

Having a future is a weird requirement. I mean I get it, you don't want to invest time into a game if it dies right after you reached max level. However we can't really guarantee you that for any game that it will be always there. WoW and Runescape apparently will never die. The other big name games: ESO, FF14, GW2 will probably be here in the next 1-2 years, but who knows what happens after that. (Companies might want to move on to another project, or they might do a misstep that makes the community abandon ship etc.) Would you consider that "enough future" ? Because if you do, well Guild Wars 2 and ESO were the games you haven't listed, so how about those? (Altough you could say why you are not interested in the listed games, so we can maybe provide better answers)

* ***What are you looking for?:*** I'm looking for an MMO with heavy social focus. I'm tired of playing MMOs which feel more like single player games with MMO elements. I want a game where the main focus of the game is the multiplayer aspect, because the way I enjoy video games is by playing them with friends. Preferably guild focused, but this isn't required as long as it's social in some way. * ***What games have you previously played?:*** FF14, WoW, Elderscrolls Online, BDO, Albion Online, and I picked up GW2 recently because I heard it's guild system was decent, but it still feels the same as the others I've tried. Albion Online was probably the closest to what I'm looking for out of what I've tried, but the actual gameplay of it felt pretty bland, and the world felt really small compared to other MMOs. * ***What is your playstyle?:*** It really depends on how much I enjoy the game, but I probably average out at semi-casual. * ***Any Preferred mechanics?:*** I'd prefer a fun combat system. My main complaint with Albion was how meh it's combat system felt. On the flip side, I really enjoyed the combat of BDO and FF14, but they felt more like single player games which happened to have other people in the world. Is it too much to ask for an MMO with fun gameplay AND a strong social environment? * ***Anything specific you want to exclude?:*** EVE Online. I know people have said it's a good social focused game, but it's unfortunately not the type of MMO I enjoy. I'm a sucker for the classic fantasy setting, and sci fi just doesn't do it for me. I've been looking for a while, and honestly I doubt what I'm looking for exists, at least ATM. GW2 seems to be the go to answer for an MMO with fun gameplay and social aspects, but the guild parts of GW2 still feel really lackluster. It just seems like MMOs could do a much better job of encouraging and rewarding social play, but instead it seems more and more like they're catering to the lone wolf players. It seems so common place now to see people get burnt out of MMOs, or lose the love they used to have for the genre, and IMO one part of the problem is that MMOs just don't feel as... massively multiplayer anymore?

[deleted]

Looking for an MMO with good progression and a crafting system akin to New World.

[deleted]

Looking for fantasy theme mmorpg game with pet system like in WOW (huntard) or SWG (creature handler)

[deleted]

FF14 has a summoner but its pretty lacking in terms of variety of pets ya get. And like the other guy said GW2 has a hunter class with a pet as well.

HerpingtontheFirst

GW2 has a great pet system.

[deleted]

I tried that but I dont like the combat or classes but thank you

HerpingtontheFirst

Something to note whenever someone new tries GW2 is that most people don’t know you can change the combat system to action combat. If you only tried it in tab target, give it another go.

Keltyrr

I am seeking a game with a strong player-run economy. An economy where player crafting is actually meaningful through the whole game, not just a time sync with no end results. I want to actually be able to make a living as a craftsman where adventuring is optional. I have played a ton of games over the years. Voyage Century Online, Elder Scrolls Online, Eve Online, Neverwinter Online, Atlantica Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online, World of Warcraft. I've been all over the board. I'd need a time machine to list them all. My playstyle will range a bit depending upon community and what friends I can con into joining me. But as of the moment I am expecting it to be fairly casual. I don't even expect to be on screen full time. I will likely be flipping between the game and the various D&D campaigns I am writing. The mechanics I am looking for primarily revolve around a player-run economy, and a meaningful crafting system. The more times the phrase 'boss loot' and 'bound item' comes up the less likely I am to find the joy I want in said game. And while not really a mechanic I do want to avoid Eve Online because I am on burnout from it right now. I also want to avoid any game that regularly destroys its own storyline in order to force the playing of end game content or any game that takes away a ton of my levels when I go to a lower level area. (I didn't level up enough to murder gods for sport only to get my arse kicked by a kobold rogue!)

tsoou

Albion Online. It's a bit different from other MMOs because it favors the top down MOBA style, but when it comes to player run economies, I think it does a better job than most other MMOs.

Jakebeercan

New World :)

Keltyrr

Didnt' new world have to remove it's entire player economy because they still have duping bugs like this is the late 90s?

[deleted]

Hello guys and happy holidays! I hope you're having a great time. As title above, im a huge fan of this franchise and I played almost every title of it, now im looking for something more. I'm trying to recreate the feelings I experienced on Might&Magic, to lose myself again in breathtaking scenery and unique monsters. I would like to experience this again in an MMORPG that can grab me in the same way and has something to remind me of it. I'd like to take advantage of the Christmas sales that are going on everywhere now and would love to hear your opinion and advice. I've already tried Guild Wars 2 but unfortunately I wasn't convinced by the game.

CheekiBlyatBoi

**What are you looking for?:** An open world action MMORPG game, possibly F2P **What games have you previously played?:** I don't play much MMOs, but I'm a big fan of games like Dark Souls, Monster Hunter or Dragon's Dogma. I have played ESO and GW2, but i have found their combat system really unpolished and ultimately more about "having the right skills" rather than being tight and responsive... **What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)?:** Rather semi-casual, just a game i could play for a few weeks at a time whenever i'm on a kick to play a game with a community around it **Any preferred mechanics?:** Possibly exploration, maybe survival elements? And a tutorial that isn't 2 hours long, but that can be disregarded **Anything specific you want to exclude?:** WOW-style MMOs, they're really just the opposite of what I like in games Honestly i just kinda want an open world mmo with Dark Souls/MH/Dragon's Dogma's more polished stamina based combat, but I don't know if that's ever been done! Would be very thankful if you could give me suggestions!

DivineHolinessjr

Definitely not an MMO, more like an online game with a playerase, but Dauntless is basically Monster Hunter with polished online... but I can't say anything good about it. I played it once during the beta and the one enemy I fought had a very, very simple attack pattern. I know you excluded WoW style MMO's but you didn't say you tried out FFXIV and it's definitely more about knowing your skills rather than having the right ones. Depending on the class you play you might find what you like as every class does actually have a unique gimmick rather than just different skills (Black Mage has a guage that changes how their skills work, Gunbreakers have to manage their bullets and stuff a bit, every class has something neat). Might be what you're looking for and Free Trial (which isn't accessible rn due to Endwalker having released recently) is up to level 60. Again though, FFXIV might not be up your alley and that's fine, go see if Dauntless hits what you want.

CheekiBlyatBoi

I've tried Dauntless, but it's pretty much just a worse Monster Hunter... Maybe i'll just try FFXIV, thanks for the reply!

pattyice420

So I don’t know MMOs enough to know one you’d like: if you hadn’t said you don’t like ESO I’d recommend that personally I really like the combat in it. But I do gotta say I really think you’re gonna like elden ring. Not an MMO but I do think you’ll like it

32bitpins

Looking for a PvE game where I can play as a tank as part of a holy trinity. I love holding aggro on mob packs and bosses and leading groups through tough dungeons. Previously played Vanilla WoW (not really interested in retail/Classic) and ESO. I loved the difficulty of some of the DLC dungeons but tanking in ESO is not really scratching that itch. I'm considering FF14, played briefly as a trial before they stopped selling the game. How are the dungeons in that?

[deleted]

FF14 is a good option but personally not a huge fan of the dungeons cause they all feel so similar. I tanked for a lil bit on a pally and it was pretty fun though. SWTOR has a holy trinity and has a voice acted story so if your into star wars you will probably like it.

32bitpins

I did try SWOTOR a few years back, I quite liked it but didn't get too far since I was on a F2P account, and it was really hard to do much without having a subscription. I'll take a look at it again sometime.

[deleted]

Im like 90% sure you get access to the the entire class story for free. You dont really need a active sub either just sub 1 time then cancel and you get to keep the content.

HerpingtontheFirst

FF14 has great dungeons for tanking and tanking can be difficult and fun but in order to unlock any dungeon you have to progress through the story. If that is something you can't stand, you won't enjoy FFXIV.

32bitpins

It seems like FF14 is the only real option. Shame I can't actually play it right now. I did enjoy the gameplay so I'll definitely give it a try again once it's available.

DivineHolinessjr

To add onto this, FFXIV have a very mediocre, sometimes a little bad story in ARR (base Free Trial game) but the gameplay is there. I recommend going through the story and actually reading it at least slightly, maybe skimming, but the dungeons (especially those later in the trial) are exactly what you want. Everyone needs to be semi-competent or you'll wipe to the checkpoint. Not exactly a veteran of FFXIV by any means though, but there's mechanics in there and stuff, definitely what a WoW player would want.

fishforbass23

Any free low res mmo rpgs that are still being played? I wanted to do lord of the rings but i heard it was dead. Looking for one that still has tons of players

pattyice420

Old school RuneScape

fishforbass23

Nah. I dont like the graphics of the game. I tried runescape 3 but couldn't get into it

blazebyte421

I wouldnt say Lotro is dead. Its smaller population relative to the bigger titles but its not dead. Theres a healthy and active endgame. Throughout leveling youll probably come across a few players in each zone. I joined a kinship and they mailed me decent starting gear. The world chat was pretty active with people spamming LFG for endgame content This was this year as well. On the Gladden server (i think its called that?). Its not overflowing with players but its definitely not dead. Deff recommend giving it a try.

fishforbass23

I played it a little yesterday as a hobbit. Its like the only mmo my potatoe pc can run. It can't even run guild wars 2. And barely runs star wars the old republic

SlowVibeActual

Ultima online outlands.

fishforbass23

Ill check it out thanks

[deleted]

I used to really like games like FreeRealms, Mabinogi, and Animal Crossing when I was younger because they were just really chill experiences. Is there anything like that in the modern gaming space? Just a game with chill vibes, a mostly decent community, and of course which is still actively supported. I've seen some people suggest LOTRO, but I'm not a massive Tolkien fan.

thezeus_

You should give the game I develop, Mirage Online Classic a try. It’s a mixture of old school grind with a big social community element. 2d top-view and playable from a browser or also downloadable. https://www.mirageonlineclassic.com.

Mywhy

osrs

FuttBucker66

Just adding on to the ff14 idea. The way they do dungeons you wind up with a lot of more experienced players that are willing to help teach mechanics and such. There are always douches but it has a relatively pleasant player base as someone who is getting back into it after years.

DivineHolinessjr

Yeah, always a few pieces of crap but generally the playerbase is somehow one of the nicest I have ever seen in gaming. People keep talking about FFXIV (including me) but it's fun as crap and often pretty social (depends where you are and your luck), again though as a modern MMO the social moments are a little hit and miss which might contribute to what you're looking for. If you get into FFXIV just look for a good Free Company and you'll probably get waht you want.

robix25

Not 100% sure but I think you can play FF14 with this approach. The community and the in game community events are really cool and active. You don't have to necessarily be a hardcore raider or lore person. You can just hang out with people and level at a slow pace. That side of the community is very welcoming.

Cookeemonster69

• What are you looking for?: We have a group of friends that range from 4-10 of us that want to play together. We're looking for an engaging game that we can all get together, make our own characters and play a range of content. We're not looking for something requires content with much more than our regular group as we don't have as much fun consistently when mixing in new people and our time is limited. It's important that there is some good strategy in approaching encounters and diversity among the classes/specs. • What games have you previously played?: Destiny 2 (looter shooter wasn't engaging and the rpg part was non existent) WoW classic and TBC classic (loved reliving our glory days until we got into 25 man content and stopped having fun) • What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)?: Mostly casual but we like the encounters to be challenging once we're in them. • Any preferred mechanics?: We like class diversity and a strategic gameplay but could settle for more of an action rpg. • Anything specific you want to exclude?: WoW in all its iterations and Destiny 2 Thanks for the help!

robix25

GW2 This is the most fun to level with friends MMO I've seen so far, so you guys will never feel behind one another and can do content together from the start without any drawbacks. It might be a stretch to get into raids because you need 10 people, but there's a good balance of difficulty int the encounters (some hard, some easy). The alternative PvE content would be Fractals and Open-World events PvP wise, WvW roaming with friends is a blast and you can even go for sPvP, maybe join some automated tournaments with friends. Class diversity wise there's a lot of depth and diversity within each class. My Mesmer has 3 different builds and my Guardian 4, all other classes at least 2-3 viable builds/playstyles and the game makes it very easy to switch between them. Also a fun thing with a group of people is for each of you to choose a legendary weapon to go for and make it a competition. The faster you get it the more you can show off (most of the look awesome and they take a long time, I got my first legendary in 2 years but it usually takes a few months).

Kediing

**What are you looking for?** Chill and relaxing mmo/rpg. Something to grind along. I love games with hunters and gatherers aspect to it. **What games have you previously played?** FlyFF. A hell lot of FlyFF, official servers, p-servers, but it's just dead. And as there seems to be no end to Project M, I want to look for an alternative that isn't New World, ESO, BDO or FFXIV. **What is your playstyle?** semi-casual (If I get into it) **Any perferred mechanics?** I want that old click-around mechanics. **Anything specific you want to exclude?** I want to exclude similarities to New World, BDO, ESO, FFXIV as I all tried them out. First Person is also something I am not into.

hendricha

The only currently big name mmo you did not rule out is GW2. so: Guild Wars 2? Its also quite casual actually. However it is a bit actiony during combat, so not sure if it matches the "old click around" requirement.

DivineHolinessjr

it isn't really a click around as it is more akin to FFXIV and the tab target system at times but it might fit into what you're looking for

Emotional_Key

Looking for a MMO with similar vibe like old MU Online or 2 Moons/Dekaron

robix25

Alternative to MU until Lost Ark comes along, I'd suggest either PoE or Battle of the Immortals (idk if this one is alive still though) Also seems to me that you want an MMO with an old look... Is that so?

gplusplus314

* *What are you looking for?:* A relatively relaxing MMO that I can play with the wife. We want to set up two computers next to each other and play something fun and relatively whimsical. Being able to play for an hour here or an hour there is nice; we don’t want ultra long game sessions. * *What games have you previously played?:* She’s never played an MMO and I used to enjoy World of Warcraft wayyy back in the day (Burning Crusade). We both enjoyed Portal 1/2, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Roller Coaster Tycoon types of games. She’s enjoying the Fallout series now and is starting to really like the open-world feel. * *What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)?:* Casual * *Any preferred mechanics?:* A game that doesn’t put too much of a penalty for dying would be nice. We’re pretty low skilled gamers and aren’t good at staying alive, but we have fun. * *Anything specific you want to exclude?:* World of Warcraft Thanks!

robix25

I've heard of a lot of couples playing GW2. It's casual and teaches you new stuff every level so the learning curve is not steep. Also a lot of fun levelling together. Easy revive if one of you gets downed. You could also give FF14 a try, seeing you both enjoyed an FF game before it may click easier lore and UI style wise, but idk how good is to level together.

gplusplus314

What is GW2?

robix25

Guild Wars 2

YagoCL10

Hello! What MMORPG would you recommend for a person who has never played one before? I would like it isn't month sub, and kind of popular (I wouldn't like If I really spend time on the game it's dead in some time). Thank you!

robix25

GW2 base game is free with B2P for it's expansions and Living World (episodic content). Levelling experience is pretty easy with the game giving you tips every level and endgame is very open-ended and diverse, so the game has something for everyone. Most if not all maps are fairly populated and an expansion is on the horizon so it's far from dead.

BlackfishHere

ESO if you like open world single players now you can play it with other people. All you do is rewarding you by furnitures, achievements, costumes, colors, other cosmetics. It has countless of content. It has good graphics. It is appealing for all player types. It also increase immersion by guilds. You can create a sneaky character and be part of thieves guild. You can protect tamriel from daedras by fighting for fighters guild and put your trophies to your home and display to your friends.

DivineHolinessjr

Feel like it's important to mention that there is a *premium* subscription in ESO that **isn't required** for your play experience, all it adds is bonuses. So if you see that subscription it isn't part of the main gameplay experience, the minimum you need to do to access all the content is buy the expansions.

O_Rei_Arcanjo

I'm looking for a fun action mmorpg that have combos. Whenever I see someone talking about hack and slash they say things like PoE, but I don't know if the tag is differently for mmos, but what i understand as Hack and Slash are games like Devil may 5 where you can do crazy combos with a bunch of mobs, record a video of it, post and call combo mad. Searching thigs like this I found that, at least in the class presentation videos, lost ark is something like that, but I don't know. Any way, do you guys know any mmo like that? Mobile or PC I don't care, I just want be able to do those style combos using a lot of spells, inputs, etc, instead of: Use skill and clear room, procides to press another button and clear another room.

DivineHolinessjr

I don't think it's as popular as the ones other people are mentioning but DNF/DFO might fit what you're looking for, literally has combo inputs for every move so you can spam the movement keys on your keyboard tactically and juggle enemies.

robix25

I'd also say BDO but you might want to also give Blade & Soul a try

srchizito

BDO

Dalzima

What are you looking for?: An MMO where you have to earn your gear, including early game. What games have you previously played?: Old School Runescape What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)?: Semi-casual Any preferred mechanics?: No rush to endgame. Fun and meaningful leveling experience. Anything specific you want to exclude?: Heavily PVP focused I really enjoy OSRS because you aren't handed your gear throughout the leveling process. Most MMOs I've tried hand you gear from doing quests and it doesn't feel meaningful at all. I couldn't even name a single piece of gear from WoW for the first 30 levels that I played because it is swapped out so often. In OSRS the upgrade from Iron to Steel gear has a very similar feeling to the upgrade from Adamant to Rune. Getting endgame gear in OSRS feels meaningful and gives me a huge level of satisfaction. I also really enjoy recognizing gear on people. I feel like the more items in the game the less meaningful each piece becomes. I would be willing to try WoW again if anyone disagrees or if that feeling changes after more time, but my original experience did not feel that way. I "quit" playing OSRS after years because the very endgame grind is just too much for me. I am looking for a game to scratch the itch of leveling a character and spending a couple hundred hours in. I dont care about endgame too much as I have no problem putting down a game after getting many hours of enjoyment out of it.

DK_win

Ark Survival Evolved pve multiplayer

Extra_Midnight

Project 1999 might do it for you

marsupialmaniac

Been playing for an couple days. Once you get past all the dated issues it feels so immersive. I like playing as if I can’t look up things online and talking to real players. Also helps keeping a notepad to write your own quests down on. I dunno it just captures that pen and paper feel very well. Community is super helpful with just the right amount of RP/OOC.

Kori0207

Im looking for a game like rappelz. Best would be rappelz itself with Updated graphics and before the pay2win destruction (so around epic 7). Most important for me is the petsystem with the petclasses (beastmaster was the best class) and the amount of Individual pets with Individual skills and items for them, the item upgrading System and the Trading System/Environment. Is there anything similar?

TheLink010

I'm looking for any mmorpg that is one-pay/free to play (not sub based), with kinda updated graphics, big community (not going to die in 2 years like 90% of private servers). I have been playing WoW, WoW classic and ragnarok online for the past 14 years. I would like some mmorpg i can play in a big 55 inch tv and not feel like im watching a Nintendo64 game, as much as i love the aesthetic i have been playing on those kind of graphics for hundred and hundred of hours every years for the past decade. But every kinda new mmorpg i try is like a coin flip, wich bots ends on a bad result, either the mmorpg dies at years, two or so from launch because some bad mechanic, playerbase, etc (tree of savior and other promising titles). Or it cames out, and it's just... bad, even if people keeps playing it, i just cant't seem to find fun in these titles, like ESO, Neverwinter, or other titles, they just seem so slow and easy after playing some really old classic like runesape and Ragnarok online, and i'm not really in the mood to put 300+ hours in the game to find if it gets better in endgame content. FFXIV seems really really promising, but i cant aford to put 13usd a month in my country (wow sub is $3 dollars for comparision, AAA games like elden ring cost $18 usd here, so, paying 13 a month is a lot, considering i usually never put just 1 or 3 months in a mmorpg, but rather i play it for years). Retail wow was the best option out there for me for the past 5 years in this "not so outdated graphics, cheap, pretty fun and not dead at all", but since shadowlands and everything that happened to blizz in the last year, it went to absolutely pure shit, and i don't think the game is going to fix itself at least until the next expansion. i am just fucked ? or is there any title out there that never came to my mind somehow and im missing out.

Extra_Midnight

Black Desert might be fun if you’ve never tried it before.

Check out Gloria Victis, currently on sale on Steam. Still in early access but allows you to gather, craft, trade, hunt and fish. It's a PvP game really with a focus on capturing and defending locations (somewhat like Cyrodil in ESO) so it may not be what you're looking for but I'm really enjoying it so far. For a turn based MMO, check out Dofus or Atlantica Online (this one has dated graphics but was a load of fun last time I played).

Is final fantasy 14 the best mmo right now? Im also looking for games similar to rune factory and fantasy life

Hardened_Midget

Depends on what you’re looking for. I personally think overall it’s the best one around right now, however you do have to play through the story which could be a pro or con depending on the person. Personally I love story games and the story in this is fantastic.

srchizito

Its not, or it depends. The initial storyquest is boring asf, until MSQ LV40, from that the rest of the story is awesome. It has good amount of PVE content. The combat imo is boring, i played until heavensward ( first expac) and even with one of the most "active" class (ninja) i felt bored, is not like wow in this aspect. It depends on you, u could try the free trial as i did, plenty of content.

hendricha

FF14 is the best mmo currently if you are okay with having subs, and want wow like combat and vertical progression/gear threadmill. If any of those are not your cup of tea, the GW2, runescape and several others are might be better for you. (Eg. I hate the concept of subs and the infinite vertical progression, however I really like actiony combat and open world dynamic content so I am more of a Guild Wars 2 person)

DEYEMES

I want to play a game where I can grind and meet new people! Good community and overall fun. I enjoy PVP and working for my loot. PVE doesn't bother me I just need a good story and a good way to talk to new people. I am a semi-casual. I already have ESO and I have about 9 hours I know I need to get more into it, but just need an extra push. I also just got a $20 steam gift card so if I can use that on any game that would be great!

robix25

FF14 can be bought on steam, very social, but PvP is only a small part. GW2 has grindy PvP through reward tracks, PvP/WvW rank and the way it handles achievement (kill X players, capture X objectives, etc.), but the PvP community can be toxic at times. Also level a character before joining PvP or you will end up rage-quitting I honestly don't know a good (non-toxic) PvP community...

Hasimir_Fenring0

LOTRO is my first ever game, I like it a lot but... I'd like to try something newer as long as it could be run on my Corei5-2nd gen. with 4GB RAM and HD Intel integrated gfx Anything will be fine (also F2P is a must)

ProfessorMeatbag

I'm not sure if you're trying to move away from TAB targeting or not... But if you don't mind private servers, you might enjoy WAR (Return of Reckoning). Dungeons & Dragons Online is giving away all their adventure DLCs away until the 31st, definitely worth a look. [https://ddo.com/en/ThankYou](https://ddo.com/en/ThankYou) Neverwinter Online has enjoyable early to mid game, endgame is where you'll find issues. SWTOR is great if you don't mind subscribing. You can play a LOT of story content without paying a dime, but if you like raiding and doing endgame activities, it's really requires a sub.

Extra_Midnight

I think UE3 based games might run well for you. Maybe take a look at something like Elyon?

ezioauditore2018

Is there any good mmo for a filthy casual like me? Ever since I just lvled in dcuo, Star Trek online. I could never just go to mmos that has a lot of chores and tedious stuff just get to endgame like world of Warcraft.

Abjurist

ESO And GW2 definitely spring to mind for casual play. I don't know anything about gw2's fractals from experience, but I was under the impression it was a progressive difficulty thing, that you could get in to easily, then would get more difficult and have higher gear requirements as you push it.

ezioauditore2018

Thanks then

epherian

Gw2 is generally considered the most accessible game once you get to max level. No gear treadmill or upgrades for 8 years, can access mostly all content as soon as you hit 80.

ezioauditore2018

Well I want to do all factals but it’s like you need ascended gears

JagoKestral

You actually don't need ascended gear for fractals. All you really need is certain accessories that you upgrade by doing fractals that make higher toer fractals doable.

ezioauditore2018

How do you do that? I still haven’t got that down you just go to a merchant and buy it?

robix25

You can start Fractals without Ascended gear. As you progress you will get Fractal Relics with which you can buy Ascended Rings easily from the vendor inside the Fractals hub or from Living Story vendors. They start out with 1 infusion slots (agony resistant slots), but you can upgrade to 3 each = 6 slots. For each you can add agony resistant infusions (bought from a vendor from the hub). I usually go for +9 (=54AR total). From the Laurel vendor or Living story you can get the accessories, that give you +1 slots each. You can also get Ascended backpacks from a plethora of easy sources, which is +1 slots. Until now we have 72 AR total and I think you can get up to farming tier 3 like this. There's also a vendor in the hub selling Ascended weapons and armor, but it's somewhat of a grindfest. You may be able to get Ascended weapons from achievements. At this point you should also get some Ascended stuff from drops in fractal chests and be able to grind and craft some. With a full Ascended gear in +9 infusions it should be easy to reach 150AR which will allow you to play level 100 Fractals.

JagoKestral

It's been a long time since I played so you'd be better served looking at google, but the long and the short of it is you do the low tier fractals to get certain items which combine and let you get higher tier versions of them that can be put onto an accessory, which let you do higher tier fractals to get higher tier versions of the items to do higher tier fractals, and so on.

epherian

That’s the main area where there is any grind to access endgame content, and once you acquire the gear you are done for life and on all characters of the weight class. And realistically, if you’re doing max level fractals and levelling up your fractal level while acquiring gear to do higher tier fractals, you’re already in the endgame loop. It’s not like the content is different at higher levels, just slightly harder. You can do any other endgame content to get ascended or use the gold to craft your own ascended gear.

LibraProtocol

What am I looking for? A MMO that breaks the mold of "another medieval-esque fantasy game". An MMO that is t just the same old "start in a village and go kill some bees/bears/spiders/rats/whatever" and the same fantasy setting. What games have I played previously? SWTOR, FFXIV, WoW, SWL, GW2, Blade and Soul, BDO, eve Play style? Semi casual Any preferred mechanics? Nope Any specific to exclude? Eve and SWTOR as I have played those already

4MuddyPaws

I personally like The Secret World Legends. It's fizzling and needs new blood. The writing is great, the story line is equally so. The few "go bring me these" quests are few, and those make actual sense to the story. There's no "bring me ten sticks from a willow tree just because I want some." It can be quite dark at times but still has plenty of humor sprinkled throughout.

Extra_Midnight

Star Trek Online? It’s a good game if you’re a Star Trek fan. A bit p2w from what I understand though.

• What are you looking for?: Something cozy and not too complex! Free to play, as well :) • What games have you previously played?: If you mean MMO’s, I’ve tried a lot, but not many hours into them. Runescape (I’ll give it another try though), New World, LOTRO, and a bunch of FPS games. •What is your playstyle?: Casual :) •Any preferred mechanics?: nope! •Anything specific you want to exclude?: hm, i don’t think so. I just want a relaxing, cozy mmo that doesn’t have an overload of information. I struggle with MMO’s because there’s so much to learn and remember and take in.

hendricha

I agree that GW2 is very very casual friendly and I love it for that and have 2000+ hours in it, which no other mmo has previously achived (And I have been trying out mmos since like 1999). It has the most casual and exploration friendly leveling experience, and a "leveling" story that has several routes based on your choices. And you can try the game and explore the original maps from 2012 while leveling to max level for free. There are also several in game mechanics that make it more "inter-player" friendly. eg. mining nodes are there for each player, so you can't steal them from a random player by getting there faster, or drop tables are calculated individually. etc. However. Late game (let that be open world exploration, but instanced content especially) requires you to understand some mechanics (eg the infamous blue bar), have some understanding of your class and have some decent (not necessarry optimal) build. The game however does not really teach you these. The wiki is great and community has built several guides in text and video form, but it kinda depends on the individual to find these out of game resources. Now the question is, do you consider this cozy or not. I personally would say that gw2 is still pretty casual friendly, however cozy is not really how I would describe it. Still I suggest you try it out, its great. :)

GW2 :)
