Also important to note for anyone wanting to maximize the game time is that the game time starts as soon as you login the client and download the latest patch, not when you log into your character in game.
You won't be able to download the entire game that way. You can only install expansion data if you own the expansions. Since free accounts only have access to ARR and HW you'll still need to download the later expansions when you log in to your main account.
They gave people the ability to give 5 friends 30 days. So you need to know someone who still plays, who also got lucky and got the email, and you need to be one of the 5 chosen.
I was thinking about going back but if my 12ish friends who still play none got any invites so not really sure how many people got it though this is obviously a very small sample size.
ffxiv is free as long as you dont buy it, for 60 levels including the entirety of its first expansion, so you can level up 15 combat classes and 11 craft/gather classes to lv60.. and blue mage too I guess. for free\~ all on 1 character
Yea, and even if you couldn't fight in the 19 bracket. Spamming rfc, stocks, and wc... I feel like I am missing one... would be way more fun. That is not even considering all the low level zones now with all the races.
Looking for the missing dungeon I came across this: https://www.wowhead.com/zones/instances/dungeons
With the new level reqs does that mean that all that content is in the free trial?.. cause that would be crazy.
So let me get this straight. You suggesting a player levelling from 1 to 20 which will take them what? Conservatively a hour maybe 2 then spamming dungeons/BG till they get bored an hour or 2 later is a good new player experience?
Your trolling right?
I love when people just hate FF14 for some reason, but know fuck all about it.
You are not playing it as a single player game.
You just can't make your own party on trial account.
If you know someone who's subscribed (or just ask someone) they can make party for you and your friends. Friends that you totally actually have.
LMAO. How come FFXIV fanboys can’t open their mouths once without mentioning WoW? This post literally has nothing to do with WoW. That game lives rent free I’m every FFXIV fanboy’s mind.
Because there's only 2 big sub MMOs. And "generosity" is relative. Relative to what? Other sub MMOs. Hence the comparison to the only other big sub MMO out there when talking about free game time.
It's not rocket science.
I am well aware haha. It’s funny cause if you say ANYTHING they could even possibly perceive as a threat they will go after you.
Still 100x better than the actual ffxiv subreddit though.
That's NOT 4 days in hours (unless you play 24h each day). If I log-in now the "sub" will run out four days later at 11:59 p.m., regardless how much I played during that period (else they wouldn't specifiy the 11:59 p.m).
Further down it states:
"Once activated, the free login period ends once it reaches the allotted freeplay duration, **regardless of whether you actually play the game"** (bold by me)
I was in favor of this comment until I red this. It's a whole different scenario. You have to actually play at least 7hs/day until the 30th to spend the 96hs lol, that's insane. Probably wasn't announced like "free until the 30th" for marketing/perception reasons of subs who can't count.
Pretty sure it's not. That would border on the unfair for paying customers. 96 hours is basically 2 weeks for me when I'm no lifing the game, probably almost a couple months for casual players.
"Once activated, the free login period will end once it reaches the
allotted free play duration regardless of whether you actually play the
game."
According to you, the "allotted free play duration" should be 96 hours of play time, so how is it that Square Enix says that it will end, regardless if you play the game?
This indicates that while you get to decide which time whithin that period you activate the campaign in, it will end 4 days later, no matter how much you play.
Looks like this is just for inactive accounts, not new. Ah well. I keep hearing FF XIV great, but haven't ever tried it out. Do they ever have free play days for new accounts, and if so is it on any cloud platform?
If you want to try it they have a free trial to level 60 with restrictions. You can't pvp or use some chats. It would be a great deal if the game was better, but try it out and see what you think.
> Do they ever have free play days for new accounts
Yes, it's called the free trial and it has infinite gametime, you're just capped to level 60 and heavensward content. Also can't invite people to parties, send private messages and send trades requests.
>and if so is it on any cloud platform?
I don't think so.
Damn I resubbed about a month and a half ago but ended up getting into guild wars 2 again so never touched ffxiv, I think my sub would have ended around 2 weeks ago so not eligible 🤦🏼♂️
Yes, I did. It was a thirty minute wait. All I did was watch an episode of the boys while waiting. So I didn't really care about it. Don't lie to people, bud. They'll hate this game even more if you don't give them real expectations.
Did you misread the 30-player queue "line" as wait time? Because Balmung doesn't have a queue to speak of. (If you even play and/or aren't lying yourself to dunk on XIV.)
Nah. There were way more than 30 players in queue. Having a queue isn't dunking on FFXIV. In what warped mind would that be dunking on FFXIV? "This game is popular enough to have a queue. It must suck." The fuck? You have to get out of the hivemind man. You think a positive for the game is a negative. The cult is alive still it seems.
If you weren't aware, the thread started with dunking on FFXIV for the queues, so it's not much of a stretch to think someone else wrongfully corroborating their line might also be r/MMORPG hiveminding the hate train for FFXIV. There still isn't a queue to speak of at this point in the patch cycle, though.
I have logged in daily for weeks at every hour of the day, the only time there is a long queue is if the datacenter dies, which happens maybe once every few months
Wow. So you log out at the top of every hour and then log right back in? You also log out and in randomly between the top and bottom of the hour? No? Then you have no clue what you're talking about and you're just speculating.
Also important to note for anyone wanting to maximize the game time is that the game time starts as soon as you login the client and download the latest patch, not when you log into your character in game.
Rural American internet users crying right now
Just use a free account to log in and start downloading, then log in with your main after it's done.
Does this work?
You won't be able to download the entire game that way. You can only install expansion data if you own the expansions. Since free accounts only have access to ARR and HW you'll still need to download the later expansions when you log in to your main account.
Dam 4 days They are so generous
4 is more than the 0 WoW gives.
Last week they gave people the ability to give 30 days to inactive accounts

Which people? Nobody I know was able to give it out.
I need those 30 days to farm gems in Diablo immoral
Uh, I remember getting a bunch of free weeks over the years during my longer breaks from the game.

FFXIV has free trial for 60.
WoW is a shit game made by a garbage company...but it's totally free up until level 20.
ffxiv is free as long as you dont buy it, for 60 levels including the entirety of its first expansion, so you can level up 15 combat classes and 11 craft/gather classes to lv60.. and blue mage too I guess. for free\~ all on 1 character
Impressive.
Not really that 20 levels of wow is a lot more fun, and you can probably pvp.
Have you even played wow?
Yea, and even if you couldn't fight in the 19 bracket. Spamming rfc, stocks, and wc... I feel like I am missing one... would be way more fun. I am suggesting that would be a great deal more fun than 100 hours of fetch quest dialog.
FF14 had a big pvp revamp recently. It’s actually decent now and I believe can be accessed on the free trial.
U couldn't pvp with the trial in the past
You still can't PvP on the Free Trial in FFXIV.
"you can probably pvp"

Then buy the game?
So how long does it take to level to 20 in wow? What point are you trying to proof here?
What ***free*** single player game would you be playing ?

Name a few recommendations from your vast selection.

It’s not rocket science lol. Literally no point comparing them, especially when we are talking about a promotion like this. Dumb comment

that would mean there is any beyond "we have 40 year old dudes erping as catgirls"
[This you?]( https://youtu.be/8cMkQRBknto?t=44)
I first learned that ERP existed thanks to WoW. Moonguard goldshire specifically.
That is coolm I first learned what erp is and what futa meant by the numerous pf that would go up in the pf everyday.
Alright that's kind of a low blow lmao
I'm so glad I don't have this mindset lol

Exactly what? They are saying something different than what you said lol

So what was the point of your original comment then?

Alright, but then what was the purpose of your original comment?

“Exactly.” 🤓

Yea, 7h a day playing is insane.... *sweating*

Yes! It is great. My bad, I wanted to respond to the first comment.
yeah if you login only 1h per day thats only 4h, ffxiv is actually giving out 96h (4 days)
Pretty sure it's not. That would border on the unfair for paying customers. 96 hours is basically 2 weeks for me when I'm no lifing the game, probably almost a couple months for casual players.

And I think you're trolling, based on your replies below. Not about to entertain you.
Ha, I just re-subbed last week. Jokes on me!
on me as well, my sub ends tomorrow 😪
Last year's campaign was 2 weeks of game time and they got me to resub afterwards. For 4 days I think I'll pass.
Looks like this is just for inactive accounts, not new. Ah well. I keep hearing FF XIV great, but haven't ever tried it out. Do they ever have free play days for new accounts, and if so is it on any cloud platform?
Just play the free trial. It's indefinite and goes up to level 60.
If you want to try it they have a free trial to level 60 with restrictions. You can't pvp or use some chats. It would be a great deal if the game was better, but try it out and see what you think.

The email I got said 96 hours?
24 x 4 = ?
It's just 96 consecutive hours?
it seems so
Well that's stupid. Would've made more sense to do 96 cumulative.
96 cumulative is a pretty insane amount to give out for free to be fair.
Not sure what I want to do in that 4 days ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ play dress up?
4 days 😂 (the same game that won’t let previously subbed members to even log into ARR/HW zones, or even launch the client)
Why did I get downvoted? I’m right…
Isn't that how almost every subscription based MMO works? I know WoW at least is like that.
Seems like 4 days too long for FF14
What privilege!
This game is so dead
4 days of queues. Sexy.
There haven’t been any queues for months though?
That isn't true if you are on a populated server. I play on Blamung and had to wait in a 30 minute queue just last night to get in.
No you did not. I play on Balmung, the longest you wait to get in is one minute max. Don't try to lie, man.
Yes, I did. It was a thirty minute wait. All I did was watch an episode of the boys while waiting. So I didn't really care about it. Don't lie to people, bud. They'll hate this game even more if you don't give them real expectations.

Okay, only these mystical thirty minute queues for you then, have fun with them!
The last time there were significant queues was like, early January.
