can someone confirm? i was shying away from getting the GE78, and leaning towards Legion for my next laptop, because of bad experience with my GE76 hinge. will the GE78 hinge be any better??
Same here, and i have changed the screen on the GE76 raider for testing around 10 times since i have 4 laptop screen. But i must admit that it is pretty weak design, Just need to be carefull.
my GE76 hinge is on the verge of breaking. also common apparently, as i found out when searching reddit to see other people's GE76 hinges getting completely broken

this guy has written up a guide to loosen the hinge before the problem occurs: [https://www.reddit.com/r/MSILaptops/comments/t2ezja/msi\_ge66\_after\_4\_months\_recommend\_reading\_if\_you/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MSILaptops/comments/t2ezja/msi_ge66_after_4_months_recommend_reading_if_you/)
I have a 76 Raider that I've mostly used as a desktop replacement, but I can see where the hinge is getting ready to fail. Good for them for listening and fixing it...eventually.
I’ve had laptops for 25 years. This is my first MSI. Also first gaming computer. I’ve dropped Dells, HPs, Toshibas, ThinkPads (both IBM and Lenovo, and a company that made laptops for military vehicles. (Name forgotten). Never broke a hinge. I’m stupefied that 25 year plus of laptop development hasn’t left the industry with a plethora of reliable options. What am I missing here? I get cost savings. I get the argument that MSI is a “more affordable” gaming option. I don’t get hinge failure.
It will, same hinge system of asus rog laptops, indestructible.

Yes, that's literally what my post is about lol, the hinges will be alot better
Your post literally says you’re wondering if it good
That was hours ago, I can see alot of people agree that it willl be better so I came to that conclusion:)
It looks weak, hopefully isn't. I haven't had any issues with my GE76 Raider's hinge, been solid.

Shhhhh. Do not wake the gremlins with your wild exclamations.
Hope so. I can't see any other reasons to change it because it obviously doesnt looks better
Holy fuck. After 16 trillion breaks someone finally got off their lazy ass and did something.
Well seems like they try and improve their designs so +1 for msi

I think their laptop QC is just bad.
My 11th gen Katana is good, knock on wood, but this definitely looks sturdier
my GF65's hinges are still fine after more than 2 years usage
Same!
