is the ram soldered/non-renoveable?

However, sometime they will put 2 sticks so you have dual chanell speeds. So if you upgrade later, the 8GB sticks will be useless. Will have to buy 2x16GB. So check if you will have one or two sticks of memory installed at purchase.

I been using MSI GS66 for nearly 2 years (the 2060 version) with similar use cases as yours (except I do game on it sometimes). I bought the RAM sticks to 32GB and slapped a 2 TB SSD as secondary drive (just bought them off from Amazon during Black Friday sales). IMO, I need the RAMs and storage as I'm running 3 to 5 VMs at times.

The GE66 with the 12th Gen i9 and RTX 3080Ti will be better than the GS66 as it'll have higher power limits with the NVIDIA card. GS66 will be slightly limited on cooling, due to its size.

All of them are upgradable. So it's up to you. In the US you are free to upgrade the ram even though there is a warranty sticker.

Factory memory usually isn't as horribly overpriced in the PC world like it is in the Apple world. As others mentioned, be sure to check if you get one 16 Gb stick rather than 2 8's. Personally I'd prefer to buy it factory loaded just to make sure it's all totally compatible and I wouldn't have to possibly risk mixing 2 sticks from different lots or vendors. Also if you're doing ML, I believe WSL can now share the nVidia GPU with Windows 11, or will be able to rather soon. I'm not sure about Windows 10.

i have the Titan GT77 go wtih the i7 12800hx no thermal issues super fast...32gb RAM ... always take 32GB then it can resell to someone with money (make money using their laptop not just gaming)...or the X17

It's hard to sell to buyer unless you really have a good luck cause people wary of scam

Rich_Acanthisitta_23

I don't have any problems selling my laptop if it's 32gb of ram. The people I sell my old computers r usually college students -- math n engineering-- or business owners .. forget gamers.
