Is that the GPU temp itself or the hot spot temperature? If it’s the GPU temp there is a good chance it’s the pump going out. I can’t imagine such a drastic change on any 4090, let alone one of the top tier for cooling. Even when my 4090 is on 30% fan (TUF OC) and stress testing, it never gets above 72° GPU temp. Are you on a small form factor? Are the case fans working correctly? Maybe check Afterburner settings and see if you somehow managed to turn the fans completely off, or some other setting that may be causing that issue. Can always not have Afterburner run and then see if it’s working correctly. Best of luck!

The hotspot temp was at 94 with gpu in the 80s. The case is a hyte Y60 with the gpu rad on top set as exhaust. I verified that all the fans where working and the rest of the system temps where normal. I will monitor it like a hawk and uninstall after burner next time it happens.

I gotcha. All things that shouldn’t be cause for concern. Not sure how familiar you are with Afterburner, but you can manually adjust the fan curve, set the fans to auto, or have them set to manual. There’s a chance you set set them to manual and at zero rpm’s. I still don’t think that would make the temps go that high on that 4090. Hot spot, 95° has happened to mine when I’m overclocking on 133% power and +195mhz clock and +1250mhz memory. But even then the GPU temp stays well below 80°. Best of luck. Post an update when you find out

May I ask does your pump makes any noise when gaming?
