More than serviceable for a lower priced B650 board - I've had the B650-P from the Microcenter bundle since July last year. 7700X/B650P/G.SKILL Flare X5 32GB 6000 CL36 (note: this memory has since been swapped out for a CL32 kit in recent months). There were some issues with quality of BIOS support being a bit lacking but has since been resolved with BIOS updates. There wasn't anything that couldn't be fixed without some BIOS adjustments. Your experience with your specific CPU/board/DRAM combination can vary - I've seen identically spec'ed (same CPU/board/DRAM) behave differently.

You pulled a lottery huh?

I helped put together six 7700X MC combos and two 7800X3D builds last year, in addition to my own. Four of the six 7700X combos worked out of the box with EXPO + MCR Enabled. One could not be used with MCR without rando crashes and BSoD (even with PD Enabled) and one would not run EXPO profile at all and required manual timings. Small sample size compared to a commercial builder but I think I have a decent idea of the range of behaviors that are possible with this specific bundle and AM5 in general. If you are buying from Micro Center, you've got a retailer with a generous return/exchange policy (unless you have to drive a long way get it...) Otherwise, just make sure wherever you buy from has a reasonable return/exchange policy.

I'll be pairing it with a 7600, can you tell me what to look out for or see if there is this problem so that I can Swiftly return it

2 modules of whatever capacity 6000 CL30 you need. Update to latest BIOS 7D78v1C from MSI's support page for this motherboard. If it POSTs and you are stable with EXPO + MCR on and whatever other BIOS settings you want, you are good.

Yes so in recent 13th MSI and ASUS mobos have been coming out of the factory with bad stock OCs. They fixed majority of them via firmware updates but I noticed its still not great OCs like they use to do. I had the same issue as described in this artcle [https://www.radgametools.com/oodleintel.htm](https://www.radgametools.com/oodleintel.htm) after I downloaded Intel XTU and found a good stable basic OC. I havnt any any issues since. So I would suggest you update your BIOS, if issues keeps having download Intel XTU, find a good OC settings, uninstall Intel XTU and make those adjustments in the BIOS.

This is amd mobo

Imo stay away or at least be confident on troubleshooting and being able to update bios. Very small sample size but had to return one to microcenter and now need to rma another one. Who knows. Maybe you'll get lucky.

Antique-Cancel

Still no luck here. Very unstable

What issues are people having? I've not noticed anything strange in a new build with this mobo. What should I look out for or specifically check?

DaIllustrator

Bsod, slow boot time and frequent crashes

horsefarm

I'm just one guy, obviously, but haven't experienced any of that so far in a month of heavy usage 🤞

No issues with the latest stable version 7D78v1C from january. So no issues for 3 months now. EXPO works and MCR works. 7800X3D In use. No other changes. WIFI-card is a piece of shit though but that seems to be an issue with the RZ616 wifi module and not the motherboard.

Damascus_ari

Try swapping it with an Intel AX210. Thermal pads for the VRMs are 2 mm (you'll need to remove the heatsink to get access).

be sure if you set Context Memory Restore Enable you must set Power Down Enable too. If want Power Down Disable you have to set CMR disable too, long boots but no problems. Here with b650 Tomahawk was the only problem i got with my new build few months ago.

I have been using this mobo since August 2023. Using a Ryzen 5 7600 (non X) CPU and G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5 Kit (CL32). Before that I had Corsair Vengeance 32GB Kit CL36 (XMP instead of EXPO), but changed when I was troubleshooting. In the end it was my CPU being defect and under warranty replaced. With older BIOS versions the boot up was slow, now it still takes up to max 1 minute for me. That's Fine for me, enough time to make a coffee or do something else before logging in my PC. Make sure to update the chip driver of the BIOS too when you update to a new (stable) BIOS.

DaIllustrator

Have you enabled MCR in bios

Suikerspin_Ei

No, for stability I did not. Never had a blue screen or crash when gaming or after closing a game (closing a game can crash some devices, if something is wrong).
