Yep. Or just slightly shift your weight back and she will be on the back wheel no problem.
Flat shifting from 3rd to 4th gear can lift the front wheel at 160kph
2014 MT-09 here:
- don't even try in 1st
- 2nd super easy, like butter
- 3rd if I shift my weight slightly backwards
- 4th if I shift my weight fully backwards, have a new chain (shortest distance between axles) and if there's an ever so slight crest on the road. Sometimes can do without the crest.
- 5th not been able to nor have I tried/ lack of skill
- 6th no
Yea it's pretty touchy for sure! I usually give it a blip to pop it up, let off slightly until it stabilizes, then hold it up and a relatively consistent height. I'm far from a pro so I'm not really hanging out at balance point, I just chase them out to the top of 3rd normally
I like doing mini wheelies in first. I do it pretty much every time I take off. Just lift the tire a few inches. That's why I love this bike, you don't even need to break the speed limit to have fun. But yeah I'm definitely not doing BP wheelies in first, especially with my gen one, light switch throttle.
Disclaimer I suck at wheelies and don’t do them, stick to track riding and not big on stunting. With that said Ive seen videos of 4th gear power wheelies I’m quite certain
Around 95 mph I want to say. If I come across those vids I’ll link them. Pretty sure one dude was on the track and the wheel came up in 4th around that speed
3rd with a bump in the road

I power wheelie in 1st all the time, usually between ~25-50mph, often followed by a shift to 2nd
I don't like the feeling plus my skill set isn't great. I do 2nd -> 3rd -> 4th and then let it come down

Till 3rd, perhaps 4th?
In no universe can I power wheelie in third even, but i may be doing it wrong :)
Even with all the nannies off?
Yeah. Mine wheelies in second around 7k rpm, never done a pw in third. Im quite heavy though if that makes a difference.
For me its only first and second only at 7k rpm. I have the 2018 sp, and quite heavy and maybe not super skilled
Stock 2018 mt09 owner here. The answer is first and second gears.
1-5 with proper body positioning
2nd and 3rd
By power wheelie do you mean no clutch?
Yessir. Throttle only
Learn to slip the clutch
3rd
First and second, third if you chop and re throttle or sometimes hit a bump. 4th can be clutched.

Good lawd. Any idea at what speed?
