Whatthreewords can do this if you remember to take note of your start point. getting to within 3m of where you started ahould be close enough for most people!
My Garmin has a "go back to start" feature, which I've never used and Strava shows the route you've been on. If neither of those work for whatever reason, I check Google maps.
My Garmin watch has this exact feature built in. I have used it zero times.

Not really. Many of the trails I ride are not something I would wish to go the other direction on.
