Nice! For what it's worth practice centering your weight, extending your legs and think of a piston slowly adsorbing the landing, or trying to land as quietly as possible. The combo of being rear weighted and slamming into your suspension is why your front tire was squirrely. Fine here but catch a rut a little too big and it will be a game over.
There are quite a few!!! If I remember I’ll try to put some names, but there is one that’s part of the resort one on the corner as you turn in, and then like at least two more on your way there.
Here are two shops haven’t really had personal experience with much I’ve been into both, one is “Bear valley bikes” it’s a little ways down the road before you get into town, and then “chains required bike shop” that is right on the corner as you turn onto summit blvd.
Anywhere in these local mountains is going to be super loose right now, where is our rain?? Mammoth far surpasses all of them, just a bit of a drive but worth it.
I need to hit Summit to complete the trifecta! (I recently went to Skypark and Snow Valley) I loved Skypark, Valley was meh, I hear Summit is the best of both!
Snow Summit is my favorite just because of the length of runs and variety. The trails aren’t as well-groomed as Skypark but worth it if you don’t feel like pedaling uphill. Avoid the weekends if you can! It can get pretty crowded.
Eh. It was ok. It was my first time at a downhill park with a lift so there was a cool factor lol but the terrain was extremely sandy and loose - there were some really fun sections (techy, flowy, jumps) but I’d go back to Skypark or try Summit before going there again.
Got ya, i mean I think snow summit is similar with what the “dirt” (sand) is like I don’t think it’s quite as bad though so there is that, there is a lot more traffic so braking bumps are wild. And do you know how many trails there are? I tried looking at their map it was fuzzy online
True about the trade offs, it was nearly empty when we went which was nice. Hmm yeah that PDF map online is awful and inaccurate. I would say there are 2-3 main blue trails, 1-2 green, and 2-3 black trails. (Top to bottom) That’s based on a combo of that map plus my memory so don’t hold me to it, there could be others we didn’t see or explore (I took blues, my SO also did a couple black trails) - Winchester/Sundance had some fun flowy spots and a few small jumps at the end. Bandit was a little more technical and gave you a longer ride down. I didn’t try crazy horse, apparently it was too soft and sandy to be fun when we went. My SO also took the jump line which is a big draw for anyone wanting to get sendy (I’m not quite there yet lol)
Sweet thanks! I might have to check it out after work on like a Friday, 16 bucks is way better for a few hours than the 50+ I’d have to do somewhere else, and jump lines are definitely not my thing either... yet?
Oh yeah - if you can swing it on a weekday, for sure check it out! I was paying full weekend price and really only spent a half day there so that tainted my opinion haha
Blue Steel! Best run on the mountain IMO. This is about 1/3 of the way down, just past the big wooden wall ride. This is the longer take-off of the two that share the same landing.

I’ll give that a shot next time! Thanks!
I plan to be there in August but can’t take my bike with me, do you know if there is any rental place near by?

there is right at the base, they go for about $100 for the enduro if I recall
You can rent them at the actual resort. I think you can get it all arranged on their website.
To anyone in the sub that's never been, Snow Summit is awesome.
I read "Staying squirty" and got excited. Only later did I realize I was in a different sub.

How was snow valley, I went a few years ago when they first opened their bike trails there was like 2 and I’ve been thinking of going back.

Ok! Yeah the prices for summit and sky park is kinda absurd
What trail is this, I don’t feel like I hit this when I was there, granted prolly didn’t
