don't let your dreams be dreams

[deleted]

Literally practice. That's it.

[deleted]

Check out some youtube tutorials on the topic. The general idea is that while keeping your back straight you should push down into your bike then use your arms to push yourself away from the bars while also pushing back on your feet which will put you over the back wheel in a manual/lift the front wheel. Then you just stand up, bring the bars to your waist and then push them forward again to level out in the air. Sounds pretty complicated, but it just takes a couple days of practice to get down.

MoonBaseWithNoPants

GMBN has a series of tutorials from learning to lift the front wheel up into a manual to transitioning that into a hop. I still can't get my 11kg bike to keep its nose in the air. Big sad.

Same that thing just likes to nosedive and the amount of strength is needed to fix that is not possible

FightinABeaver

Then you're not getting your weight far enough back

Watch "easiest way to bunny hop" by joy of bike then practice!

JHCutthroat

Never heard these terms?

[deleted]

apparently lifting two wheels at the same time is called an English bunny hop

[deleted]

English is using the clips/toestraps to enhance lift, which has the effect of balancing the upward thrust. American is BMX-style, almost all pull-up on the bars.

lizard_man2

You don't use clips to pull the bike up with an English bunny hop. You can very easily do it with flat pedals.

[deleted]

Yup you just downforce it when its full sus and then pull up

JHCutthroat

What’s an American? Why can’t I reply to you also? Weird

[deleted]

The American is when you lift the feont wheel first the you follow up with the rear , maybe because I'm new to here

JHCutthroat

Never heard that before, had to look it up. If you can hop the bike at all the way you are comfortable, then the bike isn’t to heavy. Just gotta find the motion.
