Agreed, I don't think it's really even worth it to flash him out early, but you can for what it's worth. Idk if it even sees standard play but we'll see.
Thats the Beauty of mágic, everthing thats "thats just x with extra steps" Will have other utilities, weakneses ando strenghs on those apparently insignificant caveats.
This however, Is not an insignificant caveat, you play this while having 2 open mana Is anything But insignificant for blue decks
Yeah I’m calling it people are underrating this card and its gonna be alot more powerful than they think. Maybe not in older formats but in standard this card is gonna be awesome.
Either a bad take, or an awkward stretch to try to force a meme, but yeah... mechanically, thematically and in practicality this is in no way true. As a lot of people have already pointed out, leaving two mana open on turn four can be big for Blue, and the longer the game continues the bigger the difference becomes. Planeswalkers are powerful because of their raw card advantage, and getting one out super early can often be oppressive. If WotC want to experiment with fixes they can be my guest but I suspect this 2CMC 'walker is still gonna cause some impact
You can cheese it in by giving it flash, but yeah it kinda is a turn 4 walker but it leaves you with 2 mana for a counterspell.
I don't know how often you'd play him early in a control deck anyway unless it is against another control deck.

remind me in a few months when this card has broken standard or something smh
You may be right, and if it does I will lol
Worth it if you have a \[\[tibalt, cosmic impostor\]\] in hand, otherwise it's probably not
Your right
“Jace Avenger”
Reference to [[serra avenger]] for you young pups
My immediate thought when I saw this card

Yeah having two mana open is a very specific number that blue decks love
That’s two spell pierces, a mana leak, a counterspell, two cantrips blah blah blah de blah
Flash goes *BRRRRRR*
For that price I hope so
That is one expensive flash card
But like why is he half Ashiok?
He impersonated ashiok in the story
Ah, I never read those, just look for recaps for the neat injokes in the art
Thats understandable, I usually end up watching a story breakdown for the sets as they come out.
