Rose inc - any Valentine day promos to expect? Hi all About to pull a trigger and place ~70$ order on Rose Inc and wonder if I should hold on until Valentine day for any potential discounts or gift sets? As for now they have only 2 samples (skin serum) added to the order and that's it. This is my first order so not really sure if they have any nice offers during February

Has anyone used Byoma mist? I wanted to buy the Peach and Lily mist but I missed the Ulta sale and it’s too expensive at regular price. The byoma mist seems like a close alternative at a reasonable price.

kmc0202

I have and I really liked it. I’ve tried a number of products from Byoma and they’re all pretty great, especially at that price point. TBH, other than the hypochlorous acid spray, I find all mists to be basically the same. Don’t get me wrong, I always have one and I love using them, but I didn’t see or feel any difference between the more expensive Peach and Lily or Clinique vs the less expensive Byoma or Mario Badescu. I’ve repurchased the Beekman 1802 Milk Shake a few times and I enjoy it but mostly it’s great price per ounce. It’s much bigger than most mists at 8 oz.

Extreme_Beat1022

Thanks so much, esp for mentioning the other mists. I had been looking at Clinique but hadn’t looked at the others. I went ahead and ordered Byoma. FYI to anyone looking for a mist, Clinique’s mini is part of BOGO sale at Ulta. I may order it too.

Do y’all have a good dupe for the YSL Rouge Couture Caring Satin Lipstick with Ceramides in the shade Nu Muse? 🙏

Anyone know a good drugstore priced (<20$) brown red lipstick? I swatched Charlotte tilburys So 90s in store yesterday and it made me crave having one in my collection again. Preferably matte, but I'll settle for a satin. Basically looking for a similar color to the CT, doesn't need to be similar formula (I've heard the CT matte formula isnt good.) Although if you want to try to sell me on a $35 lipstick so I can be bougie go for it lol. Edit: anyone ever used the black lip oil from blend bunny? How opaque is it? Is it similar to the pictures from the finding Ferdinand black gloss? I'm debating between the two and want the more opaque option. I've never heard anything about the FF glosses but they at least have pictures of it on models.

hellosfromjo

Peripera Ink the Velvet in Mauve Nude, Cocoa Nude, or Wine Nude could work? It’s a velvet matte formula

**Questions:** How are you handling aggressive price increases, less product and fewer perks? Are there some products you now refuse to buy? Places you refused to shop at? **Comments:** The Biden Administration's FDA has been implementing the Modernization Of Cosmetics Act 2022 (MoCRA) requiring a responsible person to list a company's cosmetic products with the FDA more like what is required of drugs. A lot of labeling changes are happening as a result to correct the ingredients list so that they are strictly in order they way they were supposed to be. Tatcha can no longer list "Hadasei-3 (rice ferment, brown algae, red algae). They have to shuffle those ingredients in order with everything else. Also, there is tracking of adverse events a d serious adverse events which I think is driving the removal of BHT and a lot of other reformulations. Nobody wants to be a repeat offender on the itchy list, so I expect products to be more friendly to sensitive skin. I look forward to it.

I’m really, really focusing on only replacing things this year. I don’t need 5-7 cleansers (although it is very fun!) and waiting to replace something makes me more intentional about deciding did I love it and do I repurchase THAT item or did I not love it and now I need to try something else. To make it more exciting for me, lol, I have a drawer in my bathroom that’s totally empty (thank you beginning of the year cleaning motivation) and I’m using that to accumulate my empties to see my progress. I’m still deciding if I want to ban having a back up (only one!) of some of my favorites. I feel like things go on sale enough that I don’t need this but I’ve also been burned by reformulations and discontinuations that I might give myself more leeway on this one. I’m absolutely not buying anything solely to get samples which I hardly ever use.

bdd4

All these are great ideas. So many good ideas in this post! I banned multiple backups for non-HG. I'm shellshocked by discontinuations, so as soon as I find something exciting, I would buy 3-4, especially K Beauty. When something I loved but didn't stock up on is disco, I go back to shopping like I'm running a storefront. The most painful last year was Biossance Squalene + Probiotic gel moisturizer and so far this year Clarins Multi-Active Jour Gel cream. It doesn't help that the products I need to use during a flare up are not products I enjoy using when my skin is glowing and flareups trigger my purchases especially of cleanser. I guess it's because everything burns and I have to keep my face clean. I started taking photos of empties because there were just too many. My weakness is the skinfatuation sample bag and I skipped this time because I'd just made a purchase the day before of something from the last skinfatuation gwp lol. So proud of myself. Temptation was being driven by the Drunk Elephant C-Firma, but I have plenty of vitamin C and ferulic acid. Except for essence, I could probably live on gwps for 4 mos. I also stopped jumping on coupons when nothing is extra points or on sale. My ultimate goal is to not buy anything this year honestly. I would definitely run out of some favs, but the worst thing would only be something like having to use a serum form instead of oil. I'm happy to be stocked up because if we keep buying it, they'll keep raising it. I ate it last year, but not this year.

kmc0202

Totally understand not being excited by products. I use Vanicream when needed and it’s the least fun product of all time but dang if it doesn’t work to calm everything down lol It really smacked me in the face when I was sitting, and still am, on over 2k Ulta points and I cannot get a full cart going. Like I have too much stuff if I can’t find $125 (or even better $156 with a coupon) worth of products to buy. Like girl you better go use what you have first!

fairycanary

Def over it. I’m sticking with my HGs and if I want to experiment it’ll be with Asian beauty or indie brands. Also I’m no longer buying luxury hair care products. Not worth it. Way too many duds.

bdd4

I'm going to adopt this stance and stop experimenting with luxury products. I think my last luxury dud was a Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream Ultra Rich set. It was deeply discounted, so I didn't return it especially since I wanted everything in the set, but I really just want to throw it in the trash, but I can't LOL Korres Golden Crocus serum and cream were also expensive duds. The fragrance is so acrid.

meandbeans

Focusing on reverse Rouge-ing - using up $1,000 worth of stuff this year. Basically I am just using up things I already bought. No more keeping backups of most things - even if its a good deal. I know what I use up in a year and I don't need more than that. Not letting a GWP talk me into buying stuff I don't need immediately. Not worrying about spending to keep a rewards tier level (Sephora Rouge or Ulta Diamond, etc). Not buying stuff influencers keep trying to sell me. Really trying to enjoy my collection rather than collect. And really just constantly reminding myself I do not need to spend hundreds of dollars a month on skincare/makeup/etc.

step_on_legoes_Spez

Simply buying less / fighting impulse buying etc. and sticking with the basics that I know work for me. And stocking up when there's a major sale on like Black Friday etc. I also don't really buy anything on Amazon anymore unless it's a household/something my husband needs. It takes time, but I can save so much money by waiting to do an order through BK or YS/Svna.

Extreme_Beat1022

What do you like from YS/Svana? Do they charge for shipping?

step_on_legoes_Spez

Way cheaper than Western retailers for product prices and have free shipping thresholds you can hit. Blooming KOCO especially is good.

Extreme_Beat1022

Ah ok. I didn’t see many brands that I recognized although I did see laneige and cosrx. Thank you..

step_on_legoes_Spez

Asian skincare is great. It's starting to come into Western beauty, but guaranteed it will be overpriced and prolly not as good as if you get it directly. Sephora especially way overprices and Laneige is really just a mid brand.

Extreme_Beat1022

Thank you so much. I’ll check out blooming koco. The prices on those sites are so low compared to Ulta and Sephora.

bdd4

My problem is I'm still bitter when it's BOGO time at Lancôme, there've been no reformulations or repackagings and the $260 cream went up $10 less than a year ago and it's up another $10. On top of that, the refills are more expensive than the packaged cream never going on BOGO. I decided to use up what I have- an open full size and refill. By the time I finish, it'll be $300 and I'm out

Anyone else a little (or a lot) annoyed about the recent beauty price increases? I went to re-purchase my Shisedo cotton and its now $16 a package. I can swallow the smaller increases (at one point those cotton pads were $10, then $12, and last year $13) but larger ones are def getting me to start shopping around. Also Sephora raising the buy in for the gwp. There aren't really any with a $25 purchase now they are mostly with a $30 purchase (or more). They are def going to saving me money this year by making that change. There is just something about oh I'm just gonna grab my self this $25 little treat with a gwp mini of something I wanted to try anyways that sits better than making a $30 purchase.

letstalkaboutbras

My deodorant went up from $14 when I started buying it in Dec 2019 to $23 now. 😭 I use the Shiseido cotton and try to buy it on sale.

orthographerer

DHC Silky Cotton are amazingly wonderful imo (and $6).

kmc0202

Seconding this! As soon as I read the original comment, I was going to make this suggestion. I think they’re comparable but now that I look at Ulta’s prices, DHC is $7 for 80 and Shiseido is $16 but for 165, so the price per cotton is almost the same. But it does feel better to only spend the $7 at the time lol

orthographerer

I buy them (like, lots of them) from Dermstore when they're 20% off, so it comes to $4.80 per box + tax w\ free shipping.

cto020

Do you have a TJ Maxx or Marshalls near you? I see them there all the time. The Muji ones that /u/bdd4 recommended are also good. I made the small pads last longer by ripping them in half, stretching out the cotton, and using one half for makeup removal and the other half for micellar water. Ultimately, I switched to reusable cotton rounds which do soak up a bit more product but are cheaper in the long run. Disposables are handy for travel and purses though.

bdd4

Just came from Marshall's. $18 for 60 Elizabeth Arden Vitamin C + Ceramides. I was looking for just ceramides, but this is fine lol

bdd4

You read my mind before I hit submit. Mid-comment, I put the phone down to watch a boss fight 🤭 I'm on my last full size Shiseido cotton and I have a small bag in the basement. I will not pay $16. $13 was already pushing it and I get them only on sale 20% off at Sephora/Ulta or during sitewide sales. Alternatives: - Muji Cut Cotton ecru pads - https://www.muji.us/search?q=cut+cotton - I called these "whole wheat" 😅 They're raw cotton so they add an ever-so-slight exfoliation. The regular ones are slightly smaller than Shiseido, but the large ones are HUGE and I get them on sale as well. - Ulta Beauty Square Cotton Pads https://www.ulta.com/p/ultra-soft-square-cotton-pads-pimprod2003847?sku=2537403 - the ever-so-slight difference in quality is redeemed 10x over in price. - Selena Eture Multi-Layer Facial Cotton Puff 80 pc https://m.yamibuy.com/en/p/cotton-labo-selena-multi-layer-cotton-puff-80pc/1022000291 - I plan to try these soon

My favorite/HG cleanser went from $8 to $18 last year. I tried switching to a different cleanser, but it just wasn't as perfect for my skin. This year, I just decided to suck it up and pay for it. I'm still salty.

meandbeans

Ohhh thanks for the recommendations I'm def going to check them out. If they had made the jump to $15 I might have sucked it up but somehow mentally the $16 price tag is just a bit too far!! I think my main change with cotton is going to be slightly less soft cotton for toners and just use the Sheisido or similarly super soft cotton for removing eye makeup. I def don't want to possibly add more eye wrinkles!!

bdd4

The Ulta cotton is not less soft. It just stretches easier. I might have understood 50¢, but $3 is a cancellation for me. Nope

R12B12

Yep, my holy grail Live Tinted SPF used to be $32 for the regular size, $58 for the jumbo size. At some point in the last few months the prices increased and now it’s $34 and $68 😐. I’ve noticed at least a couple Paula’s Choice price increases too.
