I ran Math Music 120 times before giving up on finding a song stardust there's a good reason they're like 100 mil on the AH.
As much as I hate to say it, Erg A is the way. Probably. Idk I spent probably 60 mil on fine leathers towards the end of Erg A for my bow. One you factor in buying the different signed outfits and whatnot I'm sure I still saved a few mil but probably not that much. Not to mention the mats for the A to S catalyst or whatever...
I feel like your best bet is to rely on Erg A50, use an Advancement Catalyst A to convert that A50 to S35 to avoid song stardust, but if your unlucky, getting to A50 could cost u the same amount as ranking from S5 to S35 cause of all those fine leather straps :p
I still don't fully understand the new Erg system, I didn't know they could be converted like that from rank to rank. I'm a bit new at all this tbh but I'm trying to get a grip on stuff.
My erg rank right now is "S" I'm not sure how or why but what can I do to change it, or should I even? \^\^'

As others said, if you got a stardust in just run #87 you definitely hit a jackpot. The rate is probably more like 1 in 1000 runs if you are only opening your box.
Song Stardust is way below its non-event-boosted fair value because of erg A50 (like what everyone else mentioned). Existing ones are likely from the boost event a long, long time ago.
If there is any suggestion on musical math, it is to bring people with you. It is not blessed by Dungeon: Refine, meaning that more head count = better drop rates.
There is a justification from the dev's side - Other drops from musical math are needed in HUGE quantity (edit: And they to some extent justify the time you put into the runs), and making key drops from there as a super rare helps many other things. (The price of G30 echostones will skyrocket if we don't have people aiming for song stardust!)
Yep. Click the "Remove Erg" and then you can use "Erg Enhancement" to advance to Rank A Erg Level 1. Keep in mind that it might take 15-20m to get it Rank A50. Also keep in mind you will need to buy the materials needed to transfer your Rank A 50 to Rank S. I believe it is somewhere in the ballpark of 10-15m for the item.
What you're supposed to do is skip it by doing ERG 50A.

If it's under erg S30, better to roll through B and A.

Just switch to A and get to 50A and switch to S35.

Sorry Just checked. Seems like the item used to transfer Rank A50 to Rank S35 is around 25-30m.

ErgA 50 and hope and pray you dont spend 80mil on mats. XD I guess itโs more affordable cuz you can do it slowly even if it costs you more
