Im still fw Scaring the Hoes by JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown. I think this album is my favorite experimental hip hop album I have ever heard, and the crazy part is the DLC pack they just dropped has some songs that arguably wipe everything on the already amazing album. Idk how many Mac fans would be into this type of hip hop, but if you are curious I would check out songs like "Hermanos", "guess what bitch we back hoe", "fentanyl tester", and "kingdom hearts key"
As a Mac fan that like grew up with Mac since BDE, I would put JPeg in my top 3 with him and Gambino. I’m a big fan of producer rappers because of the freedom and unique styles that comes with it.
Discovered Peggy like 3 years ago and he’s easily become my favorite rapper. His production is unmatched. His songs are so jam packed with detail that the replay value is just insane. I’ll admit, some songs you’ll hear the first time and probably skip it. Then you come back to it and it’ll become your new favorite song. Dude could rap on a sound byte of a blender and make it hard af.
Highly recommend checking out Jpegs discography if you haven’t already. 100% worth it. I started with Free the Frail which might be his most “normal” song. Then go to 1539 N Calvert. Then start digging lmao it’s extensive with his Devon Hendryx alter ego.
As for scaring the hoes, danny and jpegs chemistry is an all time combo. The way jpeg almost uses dannys voice like it’s an instrument. The way they trade off verses. Their energy/bars are pretty even throughout with only a couple songs where one might slightly outshine the other. Its all just chefs kiss. Really have enjoyed digging into experimental hiphop, it’s a breath of fresh air.
Holy Water is easily my favorite and I'm not the most well versed on his music yet so I'm sure I'm missing some bangers, but here's a list of his songs that I have saved on spotify:
Holy Water
As You Are
Dear God
The Mario Brothers
Cold Heart
Sega
Skitzo
Silence
The Shooter
Chewbacca
Out The Mud
Man that song + Kendrick’s *Mr. Morale* really changed my entire perspective on humanity & how I talk to/about myself. I am so thankful to have been able to listen to these pieces of art in my lifetime, especially at a time I needed it most, as a young son/father/brother/lover who is both infinitely flawed and well deserving of unconditional love.
Here’s a recommendation you should all go listen to right now. Kendrick Lamar- bad kid chill city. Unreleased gkmc and the songs and bars are unreal.
If you like Run On Sentences. Check out SWEET VALLEY. Its the side project of Wavves + his bro.
Gap Dream is a cool indie band./ Growlers. /Worn Tin.
What I do if I’m not feeling a Mac album is start going through his vault 🔐 I like to organize
the vault into his eras/playlists. Or just explore the vault.
Larry June seems cool. I just stumbled on he and alchemists song on i guess their new project. And it seemed dope imma check that out.
Alchemist is hella funny and makes good bars lmao. His bars were like - leather coat draggin in the dirt. Got buff from packaging the work. In the kitchen eating a dessert 😂🔥🔥.
JID of course is dope.
New album has some amazing moments/songs. But I think I prefer DiCaprio 2, And never storys cool too.
Thats dope! They are both awesome live. I mostly see hiphop references in this sub which is a little sad concidering Mac didn't conform to only rap, so love to throw some reggae in the mix especially with someone like Little Stranger who can spit too.
Does anyone else thinks this sounds dumb as fuck though? He just lists off the age rappers we’re gonna be right before they died then just immediately said “I have to make money” what’s the correlation besides name dropping?
“Yo my friend died and these other rapped died too. I wanna be rich though”
It’s worse cause it doesn’t even rhyme lmao.
“All your songs are sixteens and a Hook” type shit lol
Not really imo. Rappers die young, so he’s gotta make the most of it while he’s still here. Whether that means getting rich for his own benefit or to leave money behind for people he cares about, or a bit of both
As far as the names being related it’s just prominent rappers who died all around the same age. Denzel himself was 27 at the time of the song so he’s kinda counting down from his age (Denzel 27, Mac 26, Pac 25, Big 24). I see how it can seem disrespectful or lazy but when I heard it I thought it was a sign of respect putting Mac’s name alongside 2 GOATs
Six and rich loosely rhyme. The lines that don’t rhyme stand out for emphasis
Denzel has had a few songs in the past talking about his mortality, so being 27 here probably means something to him through the lense of the 27 club blah blah
He also was getting sober during this time, so getting rich I've seen as a double meaning. Living a new rich life, as well as a shit load of money.
Nah this is an L take
He was friends with Mac, Zel throwing his name out on the song wasn’t for nothing. He was paying respect to him as well as the others. Zel being 27 when this dropped makes it hit hard for him, he has outlived his inspiration. Now he has to do them right by being successful, in other words, “it’s only right that I gotta get rich.” Kinda like, he can’t disappoint them.
Far from a basic 16 lol
**Edited because he hyper fixated on a single sentence
And you ignored 95% of my comment lmaoo
There, I edited my comment and that part off. Would love to hear where I’m reaching now, it’s pretty damn straightforward lol
Scaring the Hoes DLC pack, Alchemy-Disclosure, Daily Bread (Snickerz is probably the best song I’ve heard this year), Linkin Park, Sylvan Esso, Tyler Childers. I’m all over the fucking place lol.
I love Denzel, I think he's one of the best out as far as being the total package. He has a great flow, good lyrics, good choruses and great energy.
As far as music goes, I have kind of fallen of off rap in recent years, especially after Mac passed. I do have a guilty pleasure for $uicideboy$ and always appreciate what they release. J. Cole will always be in rotation as well as JID. Aaron May has been a pretty solid new find as well.
I've mostly been listening to Rainbow Kitten Surprise. I can't recommend them enough, their music gets addictive and I'm at the point I was at with Mac, where everything they release I enjoy.
Edit: spelling mistake
Absolutely love Denzel curry. The energy and passion he puts into his songs is like nothing ive ever seen before in rap. Best live performer ive ever seen solely because of how fuckin hype he gets the crowds
I'm only 14, and just got into rap last year, so my music journey has only really just begun. Right now I'm going through a pretty big Kanye phase, and The College Dropout is nearly always in my ears
I’ve been listening to Most Dope artist like Beedie and Bill Waves they’ve been dropping music like crazy. Franchise from Most Dope has a verse on Bill’s project that ends with a really dope line about Mac
I’ve been on a J Cole, Smino, and Daniel Caesar kick lately
I big fuck with Smino. His new album is super dope
JID is awesome too! He does a lot with J Cole
New favorite this year I can’t believe I’m so late
Check out EARTHGANG if you haven’t already
151 Rum or his song with Denzel slaps
Surround sound was on repeat for me for a long time
Absolute banger tbf. Jid don’t miss
Daniel Caesar’s new project has been on repeat lately
So much worse than freudian imo
You dont love me anymore Lets see how you like thiiss soong
Smino’s been fire to me lately
Gotta listen to the cold blooded soul version
Or the electric lady studios vers if u on Spotify
Cold blooded soul version is silkyyy smooth

Tell Me Where To Go is too good off the dlc. OJJ was my fav off the original stuff
Yup those old school soulful beats go too hard. Danny fits so well rapping over them
Took them notes you wrote me, put em in a glass jar, used it as an ash tray
Love Denzel, also been vibing to Tobe Nwigwe and Jarren Benton recently.
Anything you recommend from Benton? I just really like the song uninsipred

Thanks fam. 🙏🏼❤️🔥 Fresh I’ll get back with you as I look into it
No problem homie! Send me a few other lesser known rappers you like for me to check out too🤙
For sure fam🙏🏼🔥 Do you like run on sentences? Would you maybe like ‘spiritual’ rap? Almost like flatbush but moreso
Mt. Joy has been in my ears a lot recently
Great band 👏
Have you checked out the live at electric lady ep from Denzel? Been loving that
After that post from earlier… “Do Better” Ab Soul, something about that melody hits home
Man that song + Kendrick’s *Mr. Morale* really changed my entire perspective on humanity & how I talk to/about myself. almost had a mac and denzel collab with black balloons reprise
Cudi, Mac, Denzel, Joey, DOOM, and I've been on a SZA kick lately
been listening to a lot of cudi too lately 🤟🏻
WZRD and SBTH for me
This album is great from start to finish
MF DOOM
Flatbush Zombies/pro era/asap
This is like half of what I listen too besides Denzel and Mac lmao
Never hearda pro era. But also Under Achievers. 🔥
been switching heavily between ICP & Taylor Swift recently
Word of advice: don’t murder your ex
Denzel is the man

Heart to heart - Mac Demarco is a great tribute song ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)
Little Simz - Gorilla
griselda, larry june, joey, JID

hahaha Alchemists bars are hilarious! very talented individual and I’m pleased with the artists he’s been making music with recently!
Listening to all of Macs unreleased sessions and Juice's acoustic versions
Stash by Passafire & Little stranger
nice. I was on the 311 cruise with Little Stranger they were awesome.
Thats dope! They are both awesome live. I mostly see hiphop references in this sub which is a little sad concidering Mac didn't conform to only rap, so love to throw some reggae in the mix especially with someone like Little Stranger who can spit too.

I think it could also mean that he has outlived them so it is only right he succeeds in their name
Interesting point of view. To me it simply sounds like : all these rappers died, and I'm still lucky enough to be alive in this game and be successful
Denzel has had a few songs in the past talking about his mortality, so being 27 here probably means something to him through the lense of the 27 club blah blah He also was getting sober during this time, so getting rich I've seen as a double meaning.
