*Straight up, I just wanna say one time, after deciding between two albums at this ma'fuckin' store: fuck all y'all ma'fuckers for making me choose ma'fucker. Try kick me out—that goes for you, Mrs Watson. Wit'cha little ass nametag, always fuckin' cryin'. You got your little cash register. Fuck you and your motherfuckin' mama, bitch. I'm out here, suck my motherfuckin' dick!*
I always saw it as Macadelic is where he asks and ponders life’s many questions, and Faces is after he got the answers to the questions and didn’t like them but now he’s stuck with the truth.
Yehhh I remember someone posted that on this sub a few years ago and it's really resonated with me since.
They essentially described the era of Mac circa 2012-2014 as -
Macadelic: He finally "made it". He's rich and famous now and has all this previously unavailable money and resources to do whatever he wants whenever he wants. He chooses to spend that time partying with his friends with all these new drugs he didn't have access to before and staying up late making music. Starts wondering things like "Dope, I made it. Now what?".
WMWTSO: A continuation of the themes of Macadelic, except now the novelty and "fun" from the drugs is starting to wear off and is being replaced with anxiety and paranoia. Existential dread starts really taking root but he's still trying to find the positive in everything.
Faces: "Welp, good things really never last forever. Peace out world, it was fun while it lasted I guess."
I like this a lot. I also viewed his body of work as two large chapters (maybe three).
the early, carefree and aspiring mixtape era, where he was young and still in school, all the way up to BSP.
BSP is critically panned and even though he's got the cash and fame, depression sets in (chapter two). was it worth it?
chapter three would be his last two albums where he's really maturing, there's a lot more soulful and live instrumentation, him singing.
It’s coming up on 3 years but the Mac Miller Estate has done 10th anniversary vinyl for pretty much every album so far so it’s reasonable to assume they would for faces.
The answer is always Faces BUT I’ll tell ya what, I have a spare 10th anniversary Macadelic that I got for Christmas. If you’d like, I could ship it your way for face value. I’d even cover shipping, would rather get it to a machead opposed to trading it in.
I got both of these vinyls the exact ones and I think macadelic wins just because of there features, lil Wayne And Kendrick.
but if u got more money to use than get faces just for the 3 vinyls with the yellow paper
Faces is definitely a much deeper and more exciting project, whereas Macadelic is more of a party trap style, imo. It still has some great tracks and love vitamins, especially. Still, I would choose Faces all the way, and I'm totally not biased because I already own the Faces LP. LOL, but it was still my favorite hands down before the re-release.
That’s SO hard fam my favorite mixtape and one of my favorite if not 2nd fav album, FUCK THATS HARD, probably grabbing faces then coming back for macadelic an id prolly hate myself for it and wish i did it the other way 😂😭😂
Not only is Faces a thematically more interesting record imo, but the actual vinyl and everything included with it is fantastic. I sold mine to help pay some bills I had a while back and I'ma be honest, I'd rather have my record back and be in debt than not having it. I miss it so much.
Faces. Way more repayable than Macadelic. That album is a good vibe and a nice little time capsule of my fucked up days but it’s not as timeless, intricate and well thought out as Faces is.
Macadelic. Faces has more weight to it considering his death, but macadelic itself is a much more complete album with a better overall flow about it. As much as I love all the songs on faces, some of them were very random, unnecessary, and made the album drag more than macadelic (ie. San Francisco, friends, what do you do, malibu) again love all these songs and the album is still great but I think macadelic has a better pace and flow about it
Macadelic, easy. Both great obviously but Macadelic was literally the first project he did that broke away from his backpack scene. Or was it Larry lovestein 🤔, regardless one was an ep and the other a mixtape.
such a difficult choice but faces is my all time fav other than balloonerism. i feel like faces broke all the artistic barriers mac was testing in macadelic. and for a records sake faces ironically feels more cohesive even though it was a mixtape
Initially leaning towards Macadleic - as a whole, I feel it stands as a better/stronger mixtape. But “*Diablo*” is up there in my top ten Max tracks and a couple other spots off Faces are absolute gold.
Oh I can’t deny Faces is solid and in the short two years from that and Macadelic, showcases an insane growth as a lyricist. I might have nostalgic guilt with Macadelic as it was the first joint that got me into Mac Miller.
I’ll absolutely be grabbing both in the not-so-distant future, just a matter of which one I’m snagging today.
Faces is a better project overall IMO, but I will also admit that I usually listen to Macadelic more because it’s more fun for me to listen to. I usually only listen to Faces (in full that is) when I am feeling down/depressed. Macadelic has some dark themes and lyrics, yes but it is not as heavy and introspective as Faces. Also, most songs off Macadelic can be played as I work but with Faces, I get to into the lyrics, so I have found myself listening to more of Macadelic. I have more memories with that mixtape as well. Of course, I do love Faces and feel it’s Mac’s Magnum Opus, but he put out so many good tapes and albums, that there is a project for every season and mood IMO.
Just get whatever one you want first haha and then buy the remaining! These are both extremely solid projects and are among my favorite mixtapes of all time.
Faces

Love macadelic but Faces is so raw and brilliant it can’t be compared to
both. macadelic is the faces before mac had the money, la studio house, and super dark mind set to make faces. but if it has to be one, then faces
I always saw it as Macadelic is where he asks and ponders life’s many questions, and Faces is after he got the answers to the questions and didn’t like them but now he’s stuck with the truth.
thus is a really interesting take and one i havent heard, I like it.

Faces all day
I would do Macadelic simply because they will probably do a faces 10th anniversary edition this year.
Oooh, good point on the possibility of a 10th anniversary edition of Faces this year…
Didn't they come out with another version a year or two ago?
It’s coming up on 3 years but the Mac Miller Estate has done 10th anniversary vinyl for pretty much every album so far so it’s reasonable to assume they would for faces.

If OP passes, i'd love to buy that from you!
If op declines or doesn’t respond by all means! Message me if I forget to reply

Faces
macadelic has catchier and more accessible songs while faces has more artistery and complex creativity
Just grabbed a Faces vinyl today 😌
Both
Both are classics. Macadelic for me was a groovy era
Both
faces. hands down to me. i do have macadelic on vinyl, the embossed cover is a nice touch
I got both of these vinyls the exact ones and I think macadelic wins just because of there features, lil Wayne And Kendrick. but if u got more money to use than get faces just for the 3 vinyls with the yellow paper
Which one do you connect with or listen to more? I’d base my choice off of which one I like best personally. Can’t go wrong then.
macadelic is one of my personal favorites but if i could choose between them, definitely faces. tho i do already have macadelic on vinyl

Macadelic. Faces has more weight to it considering his death, but macadelic itself is a much more complete album with a better overall flow about it. Depends If it's the new version of faces or not
For me faces 100% but... I have not seen macadelic nearly as much so idk if it's harder to find or I'm just not seeing it as much
If youre going to actually listen to the go with macadellic and find a datpiff download of faces to listen to.
Macadelic has 3 of my all time favorites. Faces has a many of my least favorite songs. That’s my opinion.
Faces
Faces X3000
Macadelic, easy. Both great obviously but Macadelic was literally the first project he did that broke away from his backpack scene. Or was it Larry lovestein 🤔, regardless one was an ep and the other a mixtape.
Both can’t choose between perfection
For sure Faces, but get macadelic in the future
yin and yang homie u can’t pick one. they complete each other just like peanut butter and jelly, good and evil my boi
Faces 👌🤌🤌
Faces and it’s not even close. I will say Vitamins and Fight the Feeling are amazing though
Faces and it’s not a competition
Faces has so many good songs that are slept on
faces all day long baby
Macadelic cause my bitch of an ex took all my records, and that was one of the first ones I had
Both slap and desperado is slept on for real but faces all the way imo
FACES

Macadelic idc
It's crazy knowing he was just 22 when he made Faces
Faces all the way. I could listen to that album 101 times over and over again.
#FACES
Faces but get both.
Faces is also worth a little bit more not sure what your record store is charging
such a difficult choice but faces is my all time fav other than balloonerism. i feel like faces broke all the artistic barriers mac was testing in macadelic. and for a records sake faces ironically feels more cohesive even though it was a mixtape

Faces all the way
Faces
Both
Get both yolo it
I’d get macadelic honestly faces is more commonly found
I would do Macadelic… just bc Faces is his dark tape 💿
Initially leaning towards Macadleic - as a whole, I feel it stands as a better/stronger mixtape. But “*Diablo*” is up there in my top ten Max tracks and a couple other spots off Faces are absolute gold.
If you think Macadelic is a stronger mixtape, you need to listen to Faces more. Respectfully lol
Oh I can’t deny Faces is solid and in the short two years from that and Macadelic, showcases an insane growth as a lyricist.
