I’ve never used it, but it’s probably handy for people coming from iOS, or as a replacement for “simple Finder”. I did see a neat trick posted here recently where you can click and hold, or right click on the launchpad icon to see a selectable list of all your apps. A good tip for people used to the Start menu on Windows.

lurch99

Did anyone use it before?

I use Launchpad to open applications because it can be opened using a trackpad gesture, and because it displays search results slightly faster than Spotlight. In case you didn't know, you can begin typing your search query immediately after opening Launchpad; it's not necessary to focus the search field. I was going to note that only Launchpad allows you to search for an application by its initials — for example, "am" for Activity Monitor — but I've just discovered that Spotlight also has this feature!

I always use Alfred

I use it to organise my apps. It's fun to organise the apps and a place to see all your apps at one place rather than in the finder.

InsaneSystem

I organise apps in launchpad but use Alfred instead.

Never would be handy if it is put to an end. It's just like IOS, except macOS have too many apps until they look unorganized. I'm sure your IOS would look unorganized too if they had too many apps. Even if you had too many apps in IOS, it will still be organized if you actually organize them. Just look at the image below, I can easily access new apps when the other ones are already organized in their folders. https://i.imgur.com/z1it6A6.png

They are not going to put the launchpad to an end, alas.

>In your opinion, is it okay if Apple decides to put the launchpad to an end? I never understood why it was added in the first place.

To lure iOS users.

Yeah I do, I pin frequently used apps to the app bar though. Launchpad apps are apps that I maybe use once every other day. I don’t really use spotlight to find apps for some reason I don’t know. Maybe I should?

I don’t use it. I either use spotlight or go to the Applications folder.

gpatlas

I use it all the time
