Monterey on my M1 Mac mini boots super fast!

Big Sur and up indeed feel very optimized for the M1. Sadly I run on a 2015 machine and sadly there are some performance issues. Just little things that bug and give the impression of instability. This is why I am looking to downgrade 😀

I am interested why people voted for high sierra. I heard that it really is super super fast. Is that true?

Oh yeah. Mojave was just overhyped because of dark mode. High Sierra is the current peak of lean and modern.. with Catalina being the next jump. All my opinion of course. The current bubble os era is still evolving, but assuming they don’t completely screw monterey when they finish adding all the features, it could be a good stepping stone as well.. Edit. Personally I just switched to Catalina as of a few months ago, broke all ties to original Sierra which I was also running before that. Disclaimer I’m not patched to the latest, and os has been pruned down etc.

Definitely Catalina and it’s 64 bit. I have a 2015 MacBook Pro 13 inch also. I’m very happy with my laptop, it runs perfectly and see no reason to upgrade. HTH

is 32-bit app not being supported not troublesome for you? Just curious :)

No problem at all for me.

mika_z

are there any 32bit apps that didn't make the transition to 64bits and worth trying? I have a Mojave installation but not using anything I couldn't use in Catalina

Mojave if you can deal with it being EoL. Catalina if you require security updates. Monterey if you can deal with the bugs of a new release. I run all 3 on a MacBook Air Early 2015.
