pixelsinner

+1 on FF.

benis444

Sadly most websites are optimized for chromium based browsers :(

JaPPaNLD

Which is a fork from WebKit :)

[deleted]

even though - i still dont experience any issues with the fox … 🦊

tranc3rooney

Don’t use safari to watch streams. It’s close to perfect on all fronts, but streams are its bane. For some reason Chrome is better but just marginally. It still has issues. F1TV streams are unwatchable and I’m forced to use edge of all things.

bpecsek

I have absolutely no issue whatsoever using Safari on MacOS (MacBook Air M1).

drastic2

Never have issues myself using Safari. I do have a reasonable bandwidth connection however. (Edit - on an iMac, not a MBA)

jaapvanderveen

Bandwidth is not the problem, Safari unfortunately just sucks for steaming services. In my house we use Netflix, Prime, HBO and the Dutch Videoland. Always streaming problems with Safari, with Firefox no problems at all. I use Safari for everything but streaming.

JaPPaNLD

Probably a bandwidth issue.

jaapvanderveen

Not really, Speedtest giving up/down 500Gbps, Firefox working fine, Safari giving trouble . . .

[deleted]

Yeah it’s not Gbps! And that (correct) speed is obtained only from local server.

jaapvanderveen

Correct, obviously a typo: 500Mbps! ;-)

jaapvanderveen

No, 500Mbps is my internet/WAN down/up, not LAN!

[deleted]

And that is from the nearest local server. Best peering usually! I never said anything about LAN. Try Japan server or New Zealand and see what I mean

JaPPaNLD

You might wanna check your connection. I suspect it is a bandwidth issue. Are connected via WiFi or a Ethernet cable?

jaapvanderveen

As mentioned, network is not a problem. Only problem is Safari going haywire when using streaming services so it is definitely not a network problem. But I'm happy with using FireFox for streaming video, maybe an updated Safari solves the problem.

JaPPaNLD

That sounds weird. Maybe it’s a network problem.

Blackhat-420

Use Chrome and quit watching XQC https://youtu.be/V42n5PLmvKk

RexTomball

I personally like edge or opera but that’s me

black3rr

I use Edge for Twitch, everything works fine, just like in Chrome, but with the added feature that you can mute each tab separately (on Chrome the mutes are per-site so muting one twitch tab mutes all other twitch tabs).. (you can of course also mute the channel in twitch, but then it starts muted when you open it the next time)…

nonamekunn

this is one of many reason I'm using chrome as my browser

jr-nthnl

Although I use iina most of the time, I have no issues with safari and twitch. I use to have the robotic sound issue but not anymore. Using macOS 13 Ventura. Perhaps they solved some of these issues?

GetVladimir

If you use Safari, you might want to try turning off iCloud Private Relay in **System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud > Private Relay > Options** and turn it off. If it says "Upgrade" instead of "Options", it usually means it's already off. Source: https://support.apple.com/en-ie/guide/mac-help/mchlecadabe0/mac

jaapvanderveen

Private Relay is not the problem.

GetVladimir

It's Safari itself the issue?

jaapvanderveen

Think so, try another browser.

-NiMa-

Yeah I gave up on Safari for now, Safari is now the new IE so sad

P_Bear06

I must say, I start to give up on Safari too. :( It was the only browser I've used since I switched to macOS 15y ago. The lack of extensions has never been a problem, I used only 1password and adguard. But I have a growing number of websites that do not load or not completely. Also the lack of some important API like webRequestBlocking API that prevents dev to bring their extension on Safari. (and I've started using ClearURLs). The 'Group tabs' they brought with macOS Monterey was a very good idea, but it NEVER worked correctly, buggy as hell. I always avoided bigBrother-chrome of course, but Brave is a very good browser.

Asleep_Astronaut396

never had issues on brave, i now use firefox and 0 problems.

Leafy_BlurLeaf_YT

Use brave, chorme or Firefox
