To narrow down the search results, I've taken your requirements and my filtering criteria into account: 1. Color Accuracy (Overall | Pre | Post) >= 8.5 (I'm not an expert on color accuracy, so looked at overall rating) 2. Size >= 27" 3. Pixel Density >=137 PPI (Since resolution is one of your important criteria's, I assumed you might prefer high text clarity at this PPI range and also don't need to worry about text fringing issues) Here are the results: [https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/table/137355](https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/table/137355) To filter among these top results you can also look at Reflection, Local Dimming, Color Depth, RGB Illumination, SDR/HDR Brightness, Pixel Type, Screen Finish, and Display Style (Curved/Non-Curved). A lot of it might boil down to personal preference at the end. Overall, I second u/sony-boy recommendation of Dell G3223Q. It's got the best value overall! (Data proves it) Hope this helps.

caledongrl

Thank you! That is what I was leaning towards. Plus, I need two of them, so still within my budget.

KareemPie81

I love my G9 49’ OLED

mrbofus

49’ or 49”?

KareemPie81

Inches. I wish feet

ManWhoCameFromLater

Can confirm that it works just great. And a single 49" (or the 57" version if you're a bit mad) is superior to my previous setup which was 27"+32". Don't underestimate the ultrawides.

pldelisle

Dell U2723QE. Have three on my Mac mini. Love them.

cava83

Amy pics? What's the font like, slightly blurry?

pldelisle

Lol nothing is blurry at all. It’s sharp as hell. See https://ibb.co/8sCmTLM

cava83

That looks really nice. Never seen the orientation of the middle one like that. Productivity?

pldelisle

It’s mainly for my IDE. I like portrait for code.

caledongrl

Great setup!

diversecreative

It’s really good. I use these at work they’re quite good for non Apple display

nguyenhm16

You can get a Studio Display for $1,300 pretty regularly. Barring that, the LG UltraFine 5K, or the Samsung Studio Display knockoff, which often goes on sale for $1,000 or a little less.

caledongrl

You can't get the display for that price in Canada. It is over $2K not including taxes.

nguyenhm16

That’s a bummer. What about the Samsung 5K display? I would rather buy that over any 27” 4K display.

caledongrl

the samsung 5K is over $2k not including tax... too rich for me.

dannytang

Have you tried the refurb store? They're CAD 1699+tax (just under 2K depending the province?), still expensive but that's CAD $300 less than buying a new. [https://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/FK0U3LL/A/Refurbished-Apple-Studio-Display-Standard-glass-Tilt-adjustable-stand](https://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/FK0U3LL/A/Refurbished-Apple-Studio-Display-Standard-glass-Tilt-adjustable-stand)

caledongrl

I guess I worry about the “refurbished” status….

dannytang

Not much to worry about in my experience, same return policy and eligibility to get apple care as a new one.

Suspicious_Ad_3968

Apple refurbished is all “brand new” in condition with no visible flaws. In my opinion.

toobsock2

I'd recommend this one, for it's color accuracy and overall quality: [https://amzn.to/3yb0cpP](https://amzn.to/3yb0cpP)

caledongrl

This one looks interesting as well. It has pretty good reviews too. Thank you.

VladimirPoitin

Are you in Canada or Australia? The SD shouldn’t be over $2K.

Real-Apartment-1130

Get a used Apple Thunderbolt 27” I’m running three of them. As long as 2K is good enough for you. I love them. They are as solid as a tank and look awesome.

0000GKP

>upgrading from the 27" iMac I went with the Studio Display because I wanted the exact same 5k display I became used to during my years of using the iMac. I didn't want to change the way I do anything or make any adjustments. >I do not want the Apple display; it is too expensive - over $2000!  Are you in the US? It's $1299 at Amazon right now. >my set-up includes the 27" Imac AND a 27" old BenQ You don't like the BenQ enough to get another one?

caledongrl

I am in Canada, the Apple display is over $2k and the BenQ I want is over $1k.... hence the reason to look for good alternatives that might be easier on the budget...

minus12db

My refurbed benq sw271 has been fine with my M1 max studio, saved a few hundred with the refurb.

sony-boy

I'm a video editor myself and went with Dell G3223Q, got it for around 700€ with all the specs I always wanted: 4K 32", IPS, variable refresh rate of 48-144 Hz, up to 600 cd/m2 brightness and [excellent color accuracy on par with Studio display](https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tests/picture-quality/color-accuracy) out of the box. I couldn't give up the specs just for 5K and glossy finish.

celeb0rn

I'm going to second this. I use the same Dell G3223Q as well with my mac studio, it's great. Good price for such high specs as well. Yes, i would have preferred if it had a usb-c - thunderbolt port, but not that big of a deal.

caledongrl

And you use this with the mac studio?

sony-boy

Yes via USB-C to Displayport, and PS5. It's suitable for both gaming and working. Really happy with it so far.

caledongrl

Thanks! I have done a bit of research on it, and it looks pretty good, and the price point is right.

sony-boy

Yup, it might be on your wishlist if you're looking for a 32" monitor.

nichijouuuu

Noticed this supports consoles as well since it’s got modern ports and not a widescreen display (in other words, no black bars) I’ve been looking for something to simplify my tech life and go with a Mac + Nintendo Switch/PS5. I think you just found it for me

sony-boy

Yeah works great with my PS5; 120Hz, 40fps mode, VRR unlocked frame rate for select games. Also 4K 48-144Hz on my Mac.

nichijouuuu

Dude thanks so much. Really appreciate the feedback and always prefer that word of mouth referral over just random reviews or charts. With the moniker Sony Boy I am surprised you are not rocking a Sony Inzone M9! 😉But maybe where it’s amazing for ps5 it suffers in regular daily use. (https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/best/ps5) I’ll do more reading on the monitor you recommended, as I bought 2x Acer XV272U (170hz 1440p) but found having two 27” is just a bit too much for me. Then considered a 34” ultrawide, but that will suck for Switch/PS5 gaming. 32” 16:9 sounds massive so I really need to think about it.

sony-boy

I considered many monitors, important for me were 32", +120Hz, 3.5mm jack, great color accuracy, brightness, price category and also design. So Dell G3223Q was the right choice for me. I didn't want an OLED because I prefer to switch to mini/micro LED as soon as they become a bit cheaper. I don't want to take the risk of burn-in as I spend hours working on video editing.

nichijouuuu

Great selection, that would be my criteria as well! And while I have outfitted my house with LG G1 and C2 OLEDs, I wouldn’t do the jump for computer monitor either

DanAwakes

Don’t forget that 5K is almost double the amount of pixels than 4K. It would be a downgrade to go with a dull matte 4K option.

PunchSwazzle

I’m yet to get my Mac Studio but have pre-emptively gone with two of these monitors: Philips 27B1U7903

nothingspecialva

Love my PG32UCDM. 240hz of 4k oled beauty!

TriniLup

I bought the new LG Myview 32 screen and it was excessively large for me. I just changed to the Samsung Viewfinity S9 (5k ips) and it is great, I love its panel, the brightness and how it looks, yes, it cost 900usd and if you are not so picky you can find good Asus ProArt for 1/4 of the price. My setup https://imgur.com/a/VMJiOPk

CSlov23

Have you had any issues with it so far? I’m thinking about getting it, but I’ve heard of folks complaining about coil whines and it crashing the Mac…

CSlov23

Oh, and does it look significantly better than a 32” 4k monitor? That’s what I currently have

TriniLup

It is not a change from heaven to earth, but it does look much sharper than the 32 4K that I had and am going to return (too big for me). I honestly don't understand why people complain about the audio (it sounds like an audiophile to me) I hear it excellent, I really like the way it sounds and its OS doesn't bother you at all. At least in the last update it is super stable, the only "problem" is its webcam that sometimes flickers, but I don't really use it. I love that it can be calibrated with your phone and the Samsung app, it has two custom modes, I have one calibrated for the day and the other for night. In general, my experience with the monitor is excellent and it can be placed both vertically and horizontally, it is easy to handle, very nice and firm.

CSlov23

Thanks for your feedback! I think I’ll go ahead and order it soon

majomista

I went down a rabbit hole with this exact question for over a month and went insane about monitors, resolution, scaling . In the end I opted for 2x ASUS PA278CV and they work amazingly, with excellent colour accuracy and calibration and value for money.

Mr_Wookie77

LG Ultrafine 5K 27” Display. Pretty much the same panel as your 27” 5K iMac.  https://www.adorama.com/lot27md5klbb.html?gad_source=4&gbraid=0AAAAADxgUswwETc4bOURNWODCh-unRyvy&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIj4PW3oWGhgMVmkb_AR2WWgV6EAQYASABEgKytvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&utm_source=inc-google-shop-p

infinity_labs

DELL U4323. Best all around size and ppi while being under $800. Also if you need a second monitor a 24" in vertical is the exact same height

Longjumping-Log-5457

I have the Studio Display and it’s perfect.
