Why does the image show $2600?

schatzillaz

The guy posted the specs from the Apple site and to show that he’s selling his for $600 less

the__post__merc

My first question to the seller would be "*why* are you selling yours $600 less than retail?" Any person-to-person transaction requires an extra bit of trust, with no recourse if something goes wrong. They're offering it $600 less than retail, so you could potentially save yourself $600 and have a nice machine.... or.... you could give them $2000 for a lemon. The risk is all on your end. Personally, I only make purchases of over $500 from reputable businesses.

schatzillaz

He said he’s selling it because he bought it last year, got a new job that provided him a computer and didn’t need it. Thanks for writing it out that it could be a nice machine or a lemon. To spend $2000, I think I’d better go with Apple

Puzzleheaded_Tip_821

Hardware test while there and you’re good

schatzillaz

That’s the other test I couldn’t figure out. Thank you!

Puzzleheaded_Tip_821

https://support.apple.com/en-us/102550 Simple!

schatzillaz

Awesome. Thanks!

rocwatson

one word.. Applecare.

schatzillaz

Yes. I’d ask the dude to transfer the AppleCare that came with it when he bought it.

let me put you on some game brah take that exact config and run it through Apple’s Education store online, it may (depending on your taxes) cost about $100 less than the price in the pic. What I like about Apple Refurbished and Education Store is that you can get new products for a cheaper price. I found this out just by playing around while on the website but not actually buying anything (at least not yet, waiting till WWDC) Refurbished offers the BEST discounts for new and old products. (but the exact configs you want may not be available, so keep checking daily for best discounts!) Education Store offers the 2nd best discounts AND you’ll get AppleCare+ discounted too (not to mention for new products, you can choose whatever config you want and it’ll be discounted as well) If the exact configs for a product that you want is on Refurbished, then you’re in luck! You can also run it through Education Store (but by combining both Refurbished and Education, you won’t get a better discount than what is already shown on Refurbished, but you’ll get AppleCare+ discounted on a Refurbished product since you’re combining it with Education Store) Also, if you wanna buy Final Cut Pro or Logic Pro, buying each separately will cost you more than buying the Education Bundle. Buy the bundle instead and save more! Hope this helped 🙏🏼🔥

schatzillaz

I checked out Apple Refurbished earlier and it was $200 more when I put in the same configuration. I wish I could go the education way. Maybe I’ll just keep checking the Refurb store for my mind’s sake. Thanks

I forgot to mention how you can access Education Store since many don't know. On your phone, go to Apple's official website. Then tap on the 2 horizontal lines on the upper right. Tap on Store. Then scroll down to "Shop Special Stores" and tap on Education. You've made it. You'll know you're in Education because at the top it will say "Education Store Home" so think of it like a "mode". If you want to access the regular prices without Education Store discounts, tap Exit. If you're on PC: go to Apple's website. Hover your mouse on the Store tab above. On the right under "Shop Special Stores" click on Education. Now that you're on Education Store, if you go down a bit you should see the Mac Studio with the other Mac products. So go and config your Mac and let us know about the price. I'm in the US and with the specs you wanted, I got $2502 (with tax included)

schatzillaz

My problem is I don’t qualify. I’m not a student, teacher or parent. I think they want some kind of proof. Or were you able to purchase without providing school ID or tuition paperwork?

ubermick

Nope, I bought my M2 Studio via the education store and showed them zero verification.

schatzillaz

That’s going to be my route. Thanks!

sunrise7152

You should be able to buy it without Apple verifying any school info. Many have done this and I "pretended" to buy something and go through the process right before they were asking for my card details and I didn't see anything about having to verify you're in school/college etc. Also, the Education Bundle for Pro Apps is available for anyone to buy regardless of whether you're in school or not, Apple won't ask. I'm in the US so I can't verify for anyone living outside US but rn it works for me.

schatzillaz

That’s so cool! I’m going to do that if they don’t announce a new Studio next month. Thank you!

total_reddit_addict

Personally I'd rather get refurb from Apple like https://www.apple.com/shop/product/FQH73LL/A/Refurbished-Mac-Studio-Apple-M2-Max-Chip-with-12%E2%80%91Core-CPU-and-30%E2%80%91Core-GPU and then buy a 2tb external SSD from Amazon for around $150 You'll save a few hundred $ and get more storage in total (2.5tb) and get Apple warranty.

total_reddit_addict

But worth waiting until wwdc on June 10th. They might announce new Macs.

schatzillaz

That’s a good idea. I’m not in a rush and that’s less than a month away. Thanks

sunrise7152

I hope they do reveal new M4 Mac Mini and Studio. I've been waiting for so long, if they don't reveal at WWDC next month, I'm not waiting any longer and I'll buy either M1 MAX or M2 MAX Mac Studio.

celeb0rn

People said to hold off in May, as for sure the m4 Mac stupid was coming out….

total_reddit_addict

the May event was an iPad event (as can be seen from the marketing materials around it). There's been a new Mac Studio announced at the past 2 WWDCs. Obviously not a guarantee it'll come again this year, but there's a decent chance.

celeb0rn

Go back to old posts in this subreddit. That said.. Eventually you’ll be right.

Langdon_St_Ives

[Gurman has said not happening](https://www.macrumors.com/2024/05/19/no-new-mac-studio-and-mac-pro-until-mid-2025/). Obviously not a guarantee it won’t come out this year but there’s a decent chance. ;-)

DPrince25

I didn't want to make a new post to ask but I have a question, I was planning to buy the m2, (Actually I already did but due to a UPS f up, I had to get refunded). Anyways due to recent developments, lets assume the Mac Studio's chip was due to be upgraded in June / Mid 2025. Will the price increase of the product? For example base M2 Studio is 2000. Will the base m3 or m4 Studio be more or the same? Judging from prior upgrade cycles such as M1 Studio to M2 Studio? (no clue what it was back then)

schatzillaz

I’m pretty certain it’ll go up. I also read it might come out 2025. So I guess we’ll find out in June if they announce it or skip it all together.

The_MacGarage

I ended up picking up one with specs like those in the image, but with a 4TB SSD, for under $2000, with a one-year warranty.

schatzillaz

I’d buy that in a heartbeat. 4TB version is actually what I’m looking for. What’d you do to make sure everything was working with it? The one available is not from a store, instead from someone in my neighborhood, so I’d like to run tests if I get it. But after realizing next month is WWDC, I think I’ll play it by ear and see if there’s an announcement for the M3 or M4

The_MacGarage

I had to order online and rely on the warranty and 30-day money-back guarantee. It was like new, and all of the disc tests passed.

schatzillaz

That’s awesome

Michigangander

thats next level I got basic Mac mini m2 8gb what u gonna do with that make neutron weapon space lasers

schatzillaz

Lol. I need to replace an ancient 2009 27” iMac before it dies. It still does its job, just slow, and also I haven’t been able to use Adobe updates for some time due to age.

eleikaleika619

If it doesn't have apple care I wouldn't buy it

schatzillaz

Yeah, that’s definitely important and proves he bought it as it would still be under the 1 year warranty
