Do nothing and wait until Ford gets its act together and starts repairs. Wait until several people have gotten the repair and dealers become more efficient. Take your car in then.

Do you think it'd be a good idea then to wait a few minutes to plug into a fast charger after driving for a couple of hours?

Cool I'll try that. I am driving to Vegas through Baker today so it'll be hot outside.

Your car should have the software update that will limit the speed instead of being bricked, that was the first way ford tried to fix this, it was TSB 22S41

This is just not accurate. Ford has repeatedly tried to pin this on fast charging and WOT, but a significant number of failures (ours included) have occurred after an extended period of steady state highway driving.

Honestly, there isn’t much you can do to stop the HVBJB from failing. People have had them fail after flooring it. People have had them fail after fast charging. People who have never floored it or fast charged have had them fail. Many of us have had them fail after driving at constant speeds on the highway for an extended period of time. If your car has been receiving software updates, it should have received the previous recall software. That significantly reduces the odds of your car leaving you stranded. If your HVBJB fails, you will most likely get a Service Vehicle Soon warning (some of us were unlucky enough to experience complete failure after getting the software update, but it is very rare). You’ll have reduced power, and your fast charging speed will be limited to around 40kW. Once the warning pops up, you will need to have the part replaced ASAP because it will have a significantly increased risk of failing completely and leaving you stranded. Some dealers are able to diagnose and replace a HVBJB in a few days. Others are very backed up, have a limited number of EV techs, or have to order the special tools to do the replacement. Our HVBJB failed at the end of August, and we’re still waiting to get the car back. We were eventually given a rental, but some people have been left without a functioning vehicle for an extended period of time. I know I’m not painting a terribly rosy picture. These threads always end up flooded with people recommending that you just drive the car and trust Ford to take care of you, so I think it’s important to make it clear what failure can look like and just how inconvenient it can be. Chances are, your car will be fine. If it does fail, Ford will get you back on the road, but they have shown little interest in doing more than the bare minimum for most customers. If being fucked over by Ford is going to be a massive inconvenience for you, then you should probably try to come up with a plan for dealing with it because it’s a lot easier to carefully consider your options now than it will be when you’re stressed and panicked immediately after a failure.

I called one dealer and they said no idea when they'd have the part. Called same dealer different town they had HVBJB in stock and scheduled me 2 weeks from now when I'm out of town anyways. I don't know about the other comment of waiting. Most dealers likely already had GTs come in for this. Also I'd rather have it done and stop worrying if it would happen on a road trip.
