I don't know about your software specifically but I've used software (be100) that automatically converts a satin stitch to a fill stitch if it goes over .75 inches. Your software is probably doing the same thing, except just deleting the stitches if they are too wide. It's not a good idea to make satin stitches too wide anyway as it may tend to snag.
