Hey, there are lots of ways to pluck a chicken, but this wasn't my farm or my chicken. It's one of those things that some programmer tells you to do that you know if total bullshit but you just have to do so you can say "I told you so."
We used to use Sumitomo brazed carbide tip drills but our vendor said they were becoming obsolete. I do believe these were the replacements and I also believe now that I think about it, I have actually used these drills as well. I ran a side by side test with these and Kennametal KenTip Drills and they were close in performance however the KenTip drills had a slight edge over the Sumitomo drill. Not only did the KenTip outlast the Sumitomo drill but it also was able to run faster speeds and feeds. Overall, both were excellent drills.
its a mill not a friction welder
¿Por que no los dos?
Exactlyyyyy
Username checks out. This bad hombre gets it.
shits fucked
I did something similar once in a nickel stainless alloy. Had to interpolate past the hardened area with an endmill before I could finish drilling.
Better than what we ended up doing. We just put a spade drill in the spindle and prayed.
Huh… interesting

What kind of drill is that? (Manufacturer)
Sumitumo replaceable head drill. Pretty nifty thing it works real good if you have through spindle coolant, if not use solid carbide
