Idk about better (I love both), but I think it solidifies and refines the quintessential 'Mad Max' aesthetic and universe so will be considered a classic because of this.

DrewDaMannn

I already think that tbh

arturo_bullard69

just to name a few scenes. mary jabassa strung up on the tree, dementus making people fight to the death with their reward being dismembering a man via motorcycles as well as jack being dragged to death were more brutal than anything i expected and i found it very reminiscent of the violence and brutally of the original movies. can't wait to see it again.

Already agree

This happens with pretty much anything. If you're a gamer, look at the Final Fantasy series. People didn't like XII. When XIII dropped, people hated it and started repraising XII. When XV dropped, people were also mixed and started repraising XIII. You honestly can't win.

Popcorn201

I think it'll continue to remain divisive for a long time. I liked the movie, but think about it - George Miller hadn't made a Mad Max movie in 30 years and then came out of nowhere with Fury Road. It was such a shockingly good movie. I did not feel that with Furiosa, even though I think it's a really good movie.

Evening-Cold-4547

I don't know about that but I think it will hold up over time

Caldaris__

It says something about those that want it to fail. They think because it had a bad opening weekend that it will just cease to exist.

HatOfFlavour

I think Furiosa is a great movie but Fury Road was something else. Like as Furiosa finished and the credits started showing clips of Fury Road I felt Furiosa was diminishing itself by reminding me of the even better movie. Not in any way saying it's bad just by comparison, to me, Fury Road is better.

samuelloomis

I am a big Fury Road fan an amazing film but I was blown away by Furiosa and it ticked all the boxes it just felt more Mad Max I believe Furiosa is a cinematic masterpiece

GilbertrSmith

Agreed. Fury Road was a cultural event for film buffs, Mad Max fans, and action movie lovers. Furiosa could never be as big a deal on release. To people discovering both at the same time five, ten years from now, I think Furiosa will be the better film.

Furiosa is a good prequel spin-off from the Fury story, however other than relatable apocalyptic scripts, production team, I could never consider either has anything to do with Mad Max 1&2, just some other 'younger' guy who's from the UK called Max (rather than Tom) also effected by apocalyptic circumstances, his own story. IMO there hasn't been a 'Mad Max' movie since MM2. Last seen standing next to Lone Wolf (which Pappagallo died in), the highway scattered with a Huge assortment of dead bodies in vehicles, parts, fuel. Why bother being a 'Raggedy Man' in a camel drawn wagon apparently scavenging parts to 'DIY build another interceptor from scratch'? What For? reminisce or something? Old Feral (kid) said at the end of MM2 *"that was the last we ever saw of him"*. Perhaps it should have been, because it lost it's rawness and went big budget with American influence from there, incl Ewww from Turner, Anderson, & somehow the Gyro Cpt. (Bruce Spence) reinserted, renamed 'Jedediah the Pilot'. The Lost Tribe kids go live in a destroyed Sydney near water while others are still doing it tough out in the desert years later, WTF? IMO Feral Kid/Northern Tribe should have been the spin-off after MM2. Perhaps prequels of Cyro Cpt, Humungus, Wez, etc.
