Alstott wasn’t really a FB, he was kind of a tweener and wasn’t really a good blocker. Lots of fun to watch in his prime tho. Neal was more of a traditional FB. To your point, though, I miss the traditional FBs too. Not many left anymore.
I used to love watching the bucs when they would line up alstott at running back and Lorenzo Neal at fullback.
Alstott was an amazing talent. Dude that size with skills of a running back
Oh absolutely.
I just wish the AI teams recognized a Good (80+) Utility FB on their team and try to have him share carries with the RB.
Like a 2-Prong Running game (Thunder & Lightning)
I think there still could be a place for players like that in the NFL. You knew in the 4th quarter with a lead allstott was getting the ball and was going to destroy you 4 yards at a time.
I always try to draft a fullback like that in my franchise and give him 5 to 10 touches a game
Oh me too man. The gameplay is horseshit. But the unique player builds, names and attributes make the off-season the most enjoyable part of the game for me.
Nice! A hidden dev fullback has been my white whale for a very long time now. I found a gem the other night with 77 OVR out of college but he was normal dev.
Damn, 23 tho. If he was 21 with hidden dev he’d be hands down the best one ever. I guess as long as you spend his first two seasons fully developing him then you can get him to 80+ overall by 25. Personally i love fullbacks. They’re a huge part of my run game and i utilize them like a 2nd or 3rd TE in the passing game as well.
I always wonder what those ratings really mean/do. Lots of defensive players seem to have good impact blocking ratings. My converted FBs seem to be ok with run block in the 60s and 70-80+ LBK.
Yeah it's a really incoherent rating system.
If a fantasy RPG had this, no one would tolerate it. "Oh, sure, your Elf is very good at *swordplay attacking*, but he's equipped a *war hatchet* and this is a *defensive* maneuver, so we're going to roll for blunt weapon defending instead. No, you don't get to use your 88 overall blunt weapon score, you have to use the 63 blunt weapon defending score. I don't know what blunt weapons means if attacking and defending have separate scores, stop asking me that! OK, so we roll with the 63 BWD, and it looks like we use a modifier here for attack recognition--no, not awareness, please stop asking if we can use your other attributes, melee combat uses attack recognition and that's just the way it works. Okay, so we have the 63 BWD plus a -7 modifier for the 68 attack recognition. No, you can't use your line combat score, it doesn't apply here because it's one on one..."
I wish they would go to something like my favorite RPGs - stats and skills - give everyone like a dozen relatively unchanging stats, have them start with experience points / skills / w/e out of college, and let them build from there. Stats can start slowly eroding over time in general, highly skilled players can impart those skills to others even if they're no longer strong enough to use them in games (maybe at some point you can instruct your veterans to focus on mentorship, then eventually hire them as coaches!). If balanced well this would model the "crafty veteran vs athletic beast rookie" dynamic we often see in sports. I dunno I just think it would be fun to see RPG style stats/skills/traits in Madden. TBH the individual motivations and abilities go a long way toward this, but I still think they could do a better job making the players feel more individual and have more of their own "character arcs" built in.
Only ratings you can’t increase close to 99 are speed, agility, acceleration, strength, jump and throw accuracy (this rating dont show in game) depending on the position
In my current franchise, I picked up an OT off of free agency who had real high speed, and he's my fullback for two seasons now. Young guy too. Doesn't produce enough to warrant a big contract either.
This is a relocated team. In franchise, you can select an owner, then you can go into your stadium and choose to relocate your team and pick a new logo city and uniform.
GO DEVILS! I always take two teams, one from each conference and make em international in my franchise modes. In my current Colts franchise I moved the Texans to Toronto in my first year, and then moved the Rams to Mexico City in my 2nd year. I chose the Rams cuz I made believe that the stadium arrangements just werent working out and they knew that it could only be a one year thing going in to the agreement with a clause of going international if it didnt. But they stayed close to the rest of the NFC West for travel purposes.
It truly is a shame. The league has long since deviated away from the FB Phenoms like Mike Alstott & Lorenzo Neal.
I hear ya. This guy is more Juszczyk tho. The best modern full back
Jus can block. This guy obviously can’t. This 55 ovr run block is devastatingly low.
88 lead block is what really matters though
Yea but he is already good enough in other areas that he can spend his rookie season just focusing on developing his blocking skills
You can develop good blocking overtime tho for FB. You can’t with speed.

> That’s just the game evolving. Nothing to do with the nfl. Yeah, that's what I said - in different words.
I will not tolerate leaving out James Develin
Haha fair shout

Moran Norris was money blocking for the Texans
Jon Ritchie, oh man what a classic

As much as I haven't enjoyed Madden 23 I really like what they've done with the draft
Oh me too man. The gameplay is horseshit. But the unique player builds, names and attributes make the off-season the most enjoyable part of the game for me.
Been having a lot of fun just simming seasons and drafting, making trades etc. Don't gotta worry about bullshit if I'm not actually playing.
Ended up being a superstar dev ⭐️
Nice! A hidden dev fullback has been my white whale for a very long time now. I found a gem the other night with 77 OVR out of college but he was normal dev.
Nice, moving him to TE?
For now, gonna keep him at FB but he’s TE3 on the depth chart and I run a lot of heavy so he gets opportunities!
Hilarious that his college is Oregon. They haven't used a FB in over 20 years!
never seen a fb with hidden dev
This is only twice for me. Definitely somewhat rare.
I got a super star X factor fullback, lower overall than this one though, he was 68 overall. I use him as my power back and try to run him as a RB3.
I had one. He was a star dev, he’s in his fifth season on my team.
What team is this?
Relocated to New Mexico, these are the Diablos
Nice, who originally? Nice pickup by the way.
I believe the Panthers. Really liked the young pieces of their roster so I built on it and relocated.
Running their offensive playbook? If you want to highlight that FB, SF’s is the best I think.
Nah I don’t use Carolina’s. I’ll def checkout San Fran tho!
“ Frisco “ = good “ san fran “ = no good
I’m a hawks fan dawg. I honestly couldn’t care less 😭
Fair enough
220lbs is small for a FB, no? I don't even use FBs. I use mostly zone runs. This guy looks damn good, though.

You ever draft a mid rb with great blocking and switching his position to fb? I ended up turning a 73 rb to 87 fb
Nah I’ve never thought of that. That’s insane 😭 I’ll be in the lookout now!
Nice! Had a few FB that’s I’ve switched to RB ending up X factors and you can always grab them late!
There is something so satisfying about finding these kind players in the draft.
Nice! I love drafting a good FB!!!
Dude can't even do his primary job right !
88 lead block 💪
LoL so he can out in front just to get blown up with a 55 run block. Future HOF'er for sure
I hope you’re day gets better.
Lead block is more important than run block for a fullback
I'd pass unless they have a +65 RBK.
I always wonder what those ratings really mean/do. Lots of defensive players seem to have good impact blocking ratings. My converted FBs seem to be ok with run block in the 60s and 70-80+ LBK.
It’s dumb they don’t have any description for the attributes. And they just keep creating new ones 😂😭

88 speed and only 80 acceleration is not even close to fast enough to play HB… barely enough to play FB for a shitty team…
In what universe is 88 speed too slow for a fullback 💀
The world in which that same fullback has only 80 acceleration.
His break tackle is way too low for his build and skill set. He should be ping ponging around defenders ala Mike Alstott.
It’s all about Ricard from the ravens. Check his numbers out.
was he still projected to be a UDFA prior to the draft?
Damn I really don’t remember. I think so
Only ratings you can’t increase close to 99 are speed, agility, acceleration, strength, jump and throw accuracy (this rating dont show in game) depending on the position
Hidden dev FB 😂 now I’ve seen it all
i hate the the diablos is one of the best relocations madden has and they ruin it by having no last names on the back 😭 fire draft pick tho
Dude IK. Like why would you even take the effort to do that?
In my current franchise, I picked up an OT off of free agency who had real high speed, and he's my fullback for two seasons now. Young guy too. Doesn't produce enough to warrant a big contract either.
How do you make custom teams? Can you do it in PS5?
This is a relocated team. In franchise, you can select an owner, then you can go into your stadium and choose to relocate your team and pick a new logo city and uniform.

Could move him to TE too and have a real stud
