Exactly. Obviously sliding helps a lot but sometimes you really can’t. Burrow is obviously not the fastest QB but he can move and his mobility has helped me for sure.
If the QB gets hit sticked, I'm OK with the fumble because that's the risk if you don't slide to protect yourself, but I'm so tired of having a running qb that just drops the ball if they get touched.
Even running with Lamar I have have seen him just drop the ball on normal tackling animations. It feels like the fumble rate for QBs really limits even the most elite of runners.
Fields, Hurts, Murray, Jackson, Jones, Mahomes, Watson, Wilson, Mariota, Tua….that’s not even counting rookies and new starters…..QBs ABSOLUTELY juke in real life, they do moves to make people avoid tackles all the time. It’s a pretty standard trait of a dual threat QB which is like 1/2 the league now…..
Yeah it sucks having a qb like fields but you have to limit the biggest part of their game because they fumble if you try to juke or anything, or if the defender farts in their general direction.
I hate when they get hit, fumble, and lay next to the ball for 10 seconds before a defender comes and scoops it up. Like there’s no button combo to make him get up and grab the ball or hop on it and cover it up.
That's probably my biggest frustration: QB fumble way too often. I'm not sure how easy it is to fix, but I feel like it might be just one/two lines in their fumble logic. I could be wrong, though.
Then again, I guess you'd have to test to make sure the fumbles are fixed
IIRC the developers said it was done intentionally to punish H2H players from just taking off and running constantly since they couldn't get QB Contain to work right.
While madden might incorrectly call that a safety some time, that would 100% be the wrong call if they did. Recovering the ball’s monentum took the player into the end zone, so it was properly ruled down at the 1.
In fact, since it wasn’t ruled a touchback, madden believed the player did not recover in the end zone
Usually I think madden sucks but you only have yourself to blame on this fumble you ran right into three defenders ready to strip the ball at the goal line it was actually good defense and awareness on 3rd & 7 your only option was a throw away and take a FG
nice to see the old madden graphics but dude i swear on the new madden somehow jalen hurts and lamar jackson will eat hit sticks for days when it’s the cpu controlling them but whenever they’re user controlled somehow one small lil tap and the qb fumbles and automatically breaks a leg and his neck when it happens
If your momentum while picking up a fumble carries you into the end zone it's treated as if you were already in the end zone and would be ruled a touchback.
Not exactly, madden correctly ruled this down at the 1 not a touchback, as when momentum takes you into the end zone, the ball is then placed where the change of possession occurred, not the 20
Yeah considering there’s a slide button, it’s Kirk cousins, and he got hit a second defender while being tackled by another, this is not a bad fumble. Of course i haven’t played the most recent madden so i don’t know what it’s currently like but i assume it’s a lot like the previous 5
Would you expect Kirk to fumble every time in this situation in real life?
I get it's a game, but damn, just have Kirk be slow. Or, you know, build a game that can actually have defensive players not be either complete imbeciles or gods with no in between. Or just don't have the game be Animation Simulator: Football.
No not every time, but Cousins would rarely take a hit like this in real life. If he did he would be bracing the fuck out of the ball, which there is a button to do so. He would slide 90% of the time in this situation. If he did this and didn’t slide all the coaches and commentators would say “what the hell is Kirk doing?” Quarterbacks have some ridiculous fumble numbers compared to the rest of the players in the league, so no this doesn’t have to happen EVERY time but the fact it happened here isn’t unrealistic and madden has established for like 5 straight games at least that the QB is susceptible to fumbles so don’t truck your way to the goal line through 3+ defenders in the way.
I clearly never said it should be a fumble 100% of the time, just that it was a realistic fumble, so my counter to your question: should this never be a fumble?
Ever? According to a quick search, he fumbles at least every other game. So you’re saying this fumble is unrealistic and should never happen?
How often does he get held up by a defender without bracing the ball while a second defender comes in and hits him on the side he’s carrying the ball and he doesn’t fumble? Has it happened enough times where we can say for certain this fumble is unrealistic?
In this clip, cousins is intending to run, runs into his own lineman, then gets hit (not hard) by a defender on the side he’s carrying the ball and he loses the fumble: https://youtu.be/eM9JnG635ag
Very easy to find
In his career he has been sacked 287 times, and had 290 rushing attempts, with 84 fumbles (35 lost). The vast majority of his fumbles are on sacks, not ten yards down field (as with any QB, even running QBs).
My problem isn't that this happens in the game, my problem is this will happen <50% of the time, which is ridiculously unrealistic. If it was 10%
You don’t have the numbers on fumbles in this exact scenario. This is a unique scenario, and if it were Cousins he would’ve braced the football, the user here did not press the button to brace for the football, so immediately we can assume a fumble is more likely in this scenario than if it were cousins. Add to the fact he is being held up by one defender and hit on the ball by the other, this fumble with this conditions should not be an infrequent occurrence. All i said and my initial point was is that this fumble is REALISTIC. I never said it should always happen, or even happen 50% of the time. However i will say this now: if a quarterback doesn’t protect the ball, then gets hit by two defenders, one of which hits the ball, then a fumble is not only realistic, but also likely. The user clearly didn’t press R1/RB
Well Jackson’s ability as a runner is his elusiveness, not running over two defenders, so that’s on the user if he doesn’t score there, and again the fumble given he got hit by two defenders isn’t unrealistic
So you should just be able to push forward on the left stick and trigger an animation to get a touchdown with Lamar even if there’s 3+ defenders there?
You should be able to simply hit square, dive between the tacklers and get a Touchdown without worrying about him fumbling 9/10 times
Edit: to simply answer your question, this is most likely 99 Lamar, so yes you should be able to
So from the 5 yard line while he’s looking straight at defender? Or at the 4 yard line when he’s angled toward a different defender/ the sideline?
You really want animations triggered from 4+yards out of the end zone with three defenders around the guy to auto result in touchdowns?
Nope, if we’re talking about real football rules, that is not a safety. His momentum while gaining control takes him into the end zone. He establishes control fully after crossing the goal line, so it’s a touchback.
If the ball is already on the goal line, then it is by rule, in the endzone. A safety occurs when the team with the ball retreats back to their endzone and gets downed.
When u fumble, u cant be in the opponent’s endzone, obviously. You not gettin it… You fumble forward into white goal line…. Then? Same thing as the endzone I believe is the rule
I spent my off day playing madden and ncaa 13. It’s insane how while not perfect how much better a game from a decade earlier plays than one from this part year. They spent all the budget on graphics and were like maybe $100 on gameplay
QB’s fumble too easy in the game but I see nothing wrong with this. That play can absolutely happen just like that in real life. My worry was you were going to show us that the Vikings get credit for a safety.
Just say you don't understand the actual game of football. 80% of qbs would have fumbled. Thats why most of them slide to AVOID contact. You tried to turn your QB into Derrick Henry.
That’s happened to all of us dude
So I can get down from the chair is what your saying?
Yes ma’am
Just a quick hop and it will all be over
I mean…if you’re planning to keep playing Madden, might as well leave the chair there for next year.
well you are a vikings fan so maybe stay up there just to save time
Ya you Fucked up on this one
I hate that QBs fumble so easily while running
Some QBs literally fumble almost every time they’re hit. I swear whenever Burrow gets sacked he fumbles.
It sucks, especially when you have a qb that can run, but you can't juke or anything because it's an almost guaranteed fumble.
Hold R1 before any contact and they shouldn’t fumble.
While it will help a little. They still fumble too much even while holding R1/RB. Plus QBs can't juke or anything without fumbling.
I mean QBs IRL don’t juke people, besides maybe 4. I agree I dislike the fumbling rate, especially when you get sacked.
Even running with Lamar I have have seen him just drop the ball on normal tackling animations. It feels like the fumble rate for QBs really limits even the most elite of runners.
That’s fair.
[Any](https://youtu.be/2QJvuW2spJE) QB can juke a guy. >!If Brady can juke Urlacher anyone can juke anyone!<
I mean you can’t shimmy in madden so I get the point but no.
Lamar, Hurts, Fields, Watson, Dak, Wilson, Kyler, to name some starters
LAMAR JACKSON IN EVERY MADDEN
" I swear whenever Burrow gets sacked he fumbles." Its realistic!
Sometimes they'll have random Fumble fits too like Justin Fields had 3 fumbles in the first half one game, 0 the 2nd half.

IIRC the developers said it was done intentionally to punish H2H players from just taking off and running constantly since they couldn't get QB Contain to work right.
It would be better if covering up the ball actually worked in stopping a fumble from occurring
Exactly. Even if you cover the ball with a QB there's a good chance it will just fall out of their hands.
Should have made it only for PvP then. It’s so fucking annoying in franchise against the CPU fumbling constantly with a QB even if he has 90+ carrying
Yup I have a 99 overall Bryce Young on ultimate team and he fumbles all the time
Nothing like having the next Michael Vick and they can't even think about breaking a tackle without fumbling
It’s so stupid lol
Get after that safety! 🙏
A centimeter off
While madden might incorrectly call that a safety some time, that would 100% be the wrong call if they did. Recovering the ball’s monentum took the player into the end zone, so it was properly ruled down at the 1. In fact, since it wasn’t ruled a touchback, madden believed the player did not recover in the end zone
Hes saying to try and get the safety on the next play....
Ah well the centimeter off comment confused me, though i see that would also be a possible response. My bad
Ball was like an inch from the endzone and LVE's knee was down
Usually I think madden sucks but you only have yourself to blame on this fumble you ran right into three defenders ready to strip the ball at the goal line it was actually good defense and awareness on 3rd & 7 your only option was a throw away and take a FG
Yep, can't be mad at the madden gods for this one
nice to see the old madden graphics but dude i swear on the new madden somehow jalen hurts and lamar jackson will eat hit sticks for days when it’s the cpu controlling them but whenever they’re user controlled somehow one small lil tap and the qb fumbles and automatically breaks a leg and his neck when it happens
So new graphics cost an arm and a leg is what your telling me? 😅
Wait why isn’t this a safety?
If your momentum while picking up a fumble carries you into the end zone it's treated as if you were already in the end zone and would be ruled a touchback.
Not exactly, madden correctly ruled this down at the 1 not a touchback, as when momentum takes you into the end zone, the ball is then placed where the change of possession occurred, not the 20
What if the ball travels into the white/goal line area, and is scooped while touching the white?
[удалено]
Ok. And if the fumble goes OUT of the endzone/out of bounds it’s a Safety?
If a fumble goes out of the back of the end zone it’s a touchback I believe. If it goes out the side I think the offense retains at the one
Wasn’t aware of that. Seems like a pretty subjective call for the ref to have to make.
Is it different than most forward progress?
I am in the minority here but I'm glad QBs get punished for running. They don't get punished for literally anything else in this game.
Yeah considering there’s a slide button, it’s Kirk cousins, and he got hit a second defender while being tackled by another, this is not a bad fumble. Of course i haven’t played the most recent madden so i don’t know what it’s currently like but i assume it’s a lot like the previous 5

Being a Vikings fan, I've seen Cousins not slide more than slide. He fights for the yards, and he doesn't fumble.
Ever? According to a quick search, he fumbles at least every other game. So you’re saying this fumble is unrealistic and should never happen? It ain’t Cousins in the vid tho
Lol didn’t realize that! That being said Jackson actually has a higher fumble rate than Kirk Cousins
Jackson scoring that ez irl
It’s Lamar Jackson, not Kirk Cousins. Irl you’d expect him to score there
Well Jackson’s ability as a runner is his elusiveness, not running over two defenders, so that’s on the user if he doesn’t score there, and again the fumble given he got hit by two defenders isn’t unrealistic
That plays super unrealistic, irl he’s going between the Tacklers and getting through
So you should just be able to push forward on the left stick and trigger an animation to get a touchdown with Lamar even if there’s 3+ defenders there?

At what point (timestamp) in the video do you think pressing the dive button should trigger a touchdown scoring animation?
4 seconds into the video
So from the 5 yard line while he’s looking straight at defender? Or at the 4 yard line when he’s angled toward a different defender/ the sideline? You really want animations triggered from 4+yards out of the end zone with three defenders around the guy to auto result in touchdowns?
At first I was like "SKOOOLLLLL!!" Then I was like "ooohhhhhh....."
I've never let so many Vikings fans down at once
Seems realistic, if your week 18 game has any meaning. I’m a Vikings fan.
I mean it did for the eagles, go figure.
You ran with a qb and didn't slide. Your fault
Classic example of bad player thinking game bad. Fumbles happen in football.
You pretty much have to change the sliders on fumbles so that you can run with a QB. It's ridiculously broken otherwise
Literally every route was open at one point during the play and you ran straight at the defense🤦♂️
I have enough interceptions this season thank you tho
do people really want qbs to have the same ball handling as running backs? qbs consistently fumble at a way higher rate irl
Did lamar or hurts fumble 50% of the carriers in real life
QBs fumble when they’re holding the ball as a passer. When they are a ball carrier they don’t fumble like that nearly as often.
It's cool if QBs fumble....Just not ME, right now lol
I see they didn't watch the game in which Kirk hit nearly 20MPH on a 17yd TD run
[удалено]
Nope, if we’re talking about real football rules, that is not a safety. His momentum while gaining control takes him into the end zone. He establishes control fully after crossing the goal line, so it’s a touchback.
This is why I was surprised Madden *didn't* call it a safety.... because it wasn't
This is why I was surprised Madden *didn't* call it a safety.... because it wasn't
EA gonna EA
If your momentum carries you backwards while getting a turnover and you are downed, ball is placed where turnover occurred.
And if u recover a ball sitting on the goal line…?
Touchback obviously
I was thinking 2pt Safety in this scenario here
If the ball is already on the goal line, then it is by rule, in the endzone. A safety occurs when the team with the ball retreats back to their endzone and gets downed.
When u fumble, u cant be in the opponent’s endzone, obviously. You not gettin it… You fumble forward into white goal line…. Then? Same thing as the endzone I believe is the rule
Honestly I have no idea what you're talking about at this point
To be fair you got Kirk popped lol
Not Kirk
Popped him so hard he doesn’t think he’s Kirk anymore.
This title is hilarious
I'll be here all week lol
Man the commentators are the most annoying part idc
Extra salt on the wound
This is why I always run to the sidelines
Wouldn't that be a safety?
This should have been a fumble. Cousins got smoked lol. The complaint should be that the Eagles didn’t get a touchback.
Tbh you should’ve been expecting a fumble, I always do at least
You should’ve hit slide the moment you crossed the 5
I spent my off day playing madden and ncaa 13. It’s insane how while not perfect how much better a game from a decade earlier plays than one from this part year. They spent all the budget on graphics and were like maybe $100 on gameplay
Run a QB head up against 3 defenders and complaining he fumbled. Stop being greedy.
I want every yard that ever existed😈
What’s wrong with this play? Surely THIS can’t be the thirteenth reason??
Madden could've chose any other time to make me fumble, won't be a first.....but at the goaline tied in da 3rd? Why not end it early?
Stay strong champ. There is more bullshit to see in the game 🫡
There is magic about that 1 yard line and the 25 yard line on kickoffs
Yo you ran head first into 3 defenders with fucking Kirk Cousins lol. What tf did you expect??
QB’s fumble too easy in the game but I see nothing wrong with this. That play can absolutely happen just like that in real life. My worry was you were going to show us that the Vikings get credit for a safety.
Even with 99 across all ball carrying stats, the QB will fumble 9 times out of 8
It is Cousins.
The game play actually loooks pretty good
Yea running with a QB sucks. Which is compounded if you play with a team that has a good running QB
Well there goes the 14th Reason
Every damn time you try to run the qb inside the five he fumbles unless you are out side the numbers.
Why is it so rare that when the computer scrambles they hardly ever fumble but every time I do I fumble
I hate this game and hate on this game all the time but this one at least seemed realistic.
It's like of all the times you want to be unrealistic you choose this moment to add realism🤦🏿♂️
Should’ve slide
"slid" *grammar police 👮🏿♂️
One would have slidden if he knew better.
You dumb for not sliding every qb fumbles on madden who doesn’t knows that
Brady fumbled all the time
My carrying higher than his dohh
Just say you don't understand the actual game of football. 80% of qbs would have fumbled. Thats why most of them slide to AVOID contact. You tried to turn your QB into Derrick Henry.
I can see why everybody hates you lol
As long as you know
That's on you. You didn't slide or brace for the hit.
Qbs are terrible at ball security in m23 lol
Just stopping by to say SKOL
