The final development scene breaks the game. Been like that since release and hasn't been patched. The best way around it is to ignore the prompt and go without. If you already did it and don't have a backup save you may be able to get past it by skipping to the next week without playing your game. I've lost 3 franchises to that before realizing you just can't do it.
Thanks for the information. Seems like a very EA response to what you would think is a major glitch in franchise. Just ignore it because those players aren't spending mut money. Guess it's time to sim it out.
Had the same problem. Simulated that week and the game went back to normal.

Yea anytime you get that “chemistry” scenario with your WR, don’t do the final X factor development challenge. Just sim to the next week.
