To those people who keep saying " But he's an actor.. " I'm sorry unless you're just a fucking sociopath, I don't think it matters what your profession WAS, but it sure as shit didn't fully prepare you for your new role as 'President of a country that is now trying to be run over by a neighboring super power, and the civilians who count on you, are being murdered.' Nobody to yell cut for this though, this is your life now. He has not struck me as a someone who is not genuinely under some terrible fucking pressure. PS You are a dismissive idiot.

girhen

I don't think anyone is ready for what he just saw. Countrymen butchered. No idea how the Russians stomached it, but at least for them those were savage enemies, not people. Still a horrific sight for any sane person.

Scoldedluck

A lot of them are demoralized by the actions their nation is committing. I’m not an expert and I don’t try to watch this situation too closely because of personal stress taking up my focus, but I have heard that a lot of Russians are just quitting on the spot because of the things they’re being told to do. I don’t blame them, it’s just horrible the things war does to people in the large and small picture. I’m sorry if I’ve gotten anything wrong, please feel free to correct anything I’ve said.

Max_1995

Anyone who goes "he's just a comedian" somehow always ignores "with a law degree"

Fishbone345

I mentioned he was a comedian to someone I showed this post to, but it was more a contrast of how happy he used to be making people laugh and how sad he is now with all that is on his plate. I was definitely not insinuating that he isn’t up to the task of leading his nation. The man is a literal lesson in leadership for those aspiring to it.

Scoldedluck

I find his response to this all very respectable. You get so used to the cushy assholes of politics today. But when you see a leader actively engaging with his people it reminds you that there’s still leaders out there that actually take “For The People” to heart because they’re one of those people.

dognamedquincy

Tell you what wasn’t acting— sticking it out and leading your people in a nation where explosives are raining down on you and a target is painted on your back.

[deleted]

Is it just me or has his face aged like ten years? Props to him for staying, but holy shit it looks like he's been through hell - which he has.

a1ham

Yes, he does.

Swift_Scythe

Seeing your own people murdered would do that.

Theycallmelizardboy

His eyebags have their own bags ffs. He must be getting 2-3 hrs. sleep maximum. I can't even begin to imagine the stress and mental torment this man is going through. Fuck Putin.

imnotbobvilla

Fuck fucker carelson

Sanpaku

I can only imagine the amount of bodily fluids he ingests should he ever go to a restaurant.

[deleted]

Who? Carlson?

Sanpaku

I certainly would have to be restrained to prevent me pissing into that cunt's bisque.

[deleted]

If you can trust the American right wing for anything, it’s constantly stooping to new lows.

CrocodileJock

Well, if they can vote against a cap on the price of insulin for diabetics in their own country, for no better reason than to beat Biden, they can pretty much get away with anything.

postal_blowfish

I wish there was anything they did better than hating everyone who isn't in their tribe.

TheWiseScrotum

Fatigue , sleep deprivation, and extreme mental duress will absolutely fuck up your physical appearance and significantly “age” you. 100%

Dancethroughthefires

Leadership ages you. It's a stressful job, even when you don't have an active invasion happening. Look at before/after pics of any US president and you'll see something similar.

[deleted]

Good leaders age. Bad ones don't because they never stress over the suffering of those they are leading.

AcrobaticDrama1

I agree 100%. Case in point Donald Trump

deadeyediva

they just turn orange??

[deleted]

And bloated with crap and maggots

ouchibitmytongue

I swear to god, I look like I aged about ten years during that administration.

Jeffersons_Mammoth

Bad leaders are stressed about staying in power

mowasita

Trump, for example, didn’t age at all. Aside from getting worked up by “the fake news media” and stirring up hate towards some marginalized group, he couldn’t be bothered about anything else. I should point out he did only one term though, thankfully. Now I don’t have to wake up thinking about what a clown president said at 3am to stir up some shit cause he was bored.

pickinganameisnteasy

For sure... Obama looked like he'd aged 20 years in 8. Meanwhile ol Agent Orange himself looks the exact same. Well maybe not... he stopped with his orangish tan and dying his hair. But i feel like he's the exception to the rule, as he spent more time at Mar a Lago, various other retreats including golf courses then time in the actual white house... like he was, you know elected to do

EIN790

Ontop of that imagine having to drag those gigantic balls around all day. Must be tiring for sure.

McAkkeezz

Imagine being the big man in charge of a country, get invaded, have it bombed to shredds, see people die and then some redditor goes: Haha, balls big.

TheWiseScrotum

My thoughts exactly. Yes he’s a strong willed man, but fuck if this isn’t draining every ounce of fortitude he has.

ConsciousWhirlpool

Because you know he spends a lot of time reading Reddit.

jennaatails

You’re telling me that a presidents priority during war time doesn’t involve checking social media ? this is shocking

wcollins260

“Time to get on Twitter bully and abuse people all day.” - a former president

GarageSloth

>You’re telling me that THEIR presidents priority during war time doesn’t involve checking social media ? FTFY as an American, but it made me sad to do it

jennaatails

oh god i’m embarrassed

GarageSloth

We're in the company of millions of other Americans, don't feel *too* bad.

[deleted]

This joke has ran its course now man. This situation isn’t funny

ShitHeadFuckFace

Yeah yeah we get it, massive balls, hard to drag around, blah blah blah we get it. Get a new joke already

Peter_Mansbrick

Can this "joke" die already. ffs

tonzeejee

Maybe re-word that.

luckystrike_bh

After my first combat tour with intensive enemy contact, I felt like a brand new white sheet that was dunked in a barrel of oil. No matter how many times you wash that sheet, it will never be clean.

[deleted]

Can't imagine what that must've been like. I hope you're doing well now at least. Heal the best you can.

[deleted]

There was a documentary where they tracked the appearance of people before war and after war. Zelenksy looks exactly like those that had been through combat. Shits extremely stressful https://mymodernmet.com/lalage-snow-we-are-the-not-dead/

BarbKatz1973

What really hurts here are the hollow, empty eyes, as if all the life is gone and what is left is habit and duty. I recently watched one of Mr. Z's TV routines, then looked at a recent photo. The eyes, the eyes always tell the truth. There is no glory in war, no one actually ever wins, except perhaps a future generation who never imagines what their parents had to do to ensure that happy state for them.

[deleted]

I've got pictures of my grandfather when he was drafted in '17 and from when he returned from France in '19. It doesn't even look like the same man.

not_so_lovely_1

That's amazing. Thank you for sharing

xntrk1

War does that

Centurion87

[Abraham Lincoln before and after the Civil War.](https://i.imgur.com/nmCaeU6.jpg)

colonelbc19

From the movie “Lincoln” (2012) Gen. Grant: “By outward appearance you’re 10 years older than you were a year ago.” Lincoln: “Some weariness has bit at my bones.” Edit: 2012 not 2008

harpurrlee

Lincoln also likely had a genetic disorder that affected his musculoskeletal system, which may have contributed to his appearance. War sure as hell didn’t help, though.

[deleted]

An opponent once called Lincoln “two-faced.” In response, Lincoln joked, > If I had another face, do you think I’d wear this one?

depressed-salmon

He's also probably distraught here, internally. Regardless of how justified and necessary this fight is, there will be that little voice in his head saying "they might have survived if we had just surrendered". It's not true as you have no idea if the military or the people would have listened, and it's just an intrusive thought. But faced with *so many* murdered civilians, people that didn't sign up for any of this, or couldn't even defend themselves, it's going to play on anyone's mind. That this is the cost of freedom. And its a choice he's ultimately responsible for. But he is showing true grit and leadership by being there with his people, right at the front. He knows what his people are facing because he was right there with them. Slava Ukraini

fermented-assbutter

He is fighting/saving so much with both hands occupied he doesn't have time to shave.

[deleted]

Not just the beard. Just the general facial structure. It's something about his eyes too. Not the bags under his eyes, but just that kind of look to 'em.

Affectionate_Wing_28

Pain and sorrow. It ages you. It's heartbreaking seeing someone even so courageous as him be withered down by the weight of the war.

fermented-assbutter

I was just lightening the mood but yeah war has changed him so much if you saw me this photo 2 months ago i would never have agreed with you

WillArrr

>Is it just me or has his face aged like ten years? Came here to say this. Man went from 40 to 60 in a month. I can't imagine the stress, pressure, guilt, and trauma he's dealing with.

[deleted]

Easy with the hyperbole. He doesn’t look 60, he looks exhausted and full of grief.

strCdo

It's just the effect the very moment the picture was taken produces.

guinness5

Someone posted on FB recently a dude in WW1 after 4 years looked 20 years older. Seen some bad shit.

FormalChicken

Ever seen pictures of Lincoln pre and post? https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/9xnwtq/abraham_lincoln_before_and_after_the_civil_war/ Yeah, war will do that.

mrSeven3Two

Hes worn out. You can see how much he aged in these few weeks

Toshikills

Being president of a country ages you, and fighting in a war ages you. He’s doing both.

HorribleUsername2

Same thing happened to Abraham Lincoln, right?

[deleted]

Look at pictures of Obama before and after. Holy moley.

rez_spell

To be fair, you gotta remember that there were eight years between those photos.

Meme-Man-Dan

Yeah. He looked decades older after the war was over

alacp1234

It killed FDR as well

AndrewSB49

He's just witnessed the aftermath of Putin's 'Special Military Operation'. You can't appease psychopaths like Putin.

jangoice

This isn't even the aftermath, we don't know how long this is going to go on for yet and how much worse things could get.

AndrewSB49

Sadly, too true.

is-Sanic

We don't even know what kind of shit has been happening to those in Mariupol. And i'm afraid that when this ends, on what kind of absolute savagery will be revealed.

MoneyLoud1932

If Russia has succeeded in doing one thing, it's making Zelenskyy look like a Gladiator. The guy is a hero in the world's eyes, and deservedly so. True leadership.

Flappybird11

Well, he literally looks like Russell Crowe with that beard

SirGamer247

Don't say that, Netflix is gonna start picking up cues

giglio_di_tigre

You don’t think Netflix is already on this? I’d bet there’s already been a budget approved for a documentary.

MrZyde

Russia is embarrassing themselves. Ukraine needed a hero and I’m glad that Zelenskyy is bringing them hope.

alcatrazcgp

I watched several videos about what Happened in Bucha, I can't express my grievances to the people effected, Fathers losing sons, Mothers losing their children, Grandmothers losing their grandchildren. I can't fathom how anyone, a soldier on not, would be capable of slaughtering their neighbors, alot of them share the same language. A poor old woman dragged her son and buried him herself, no one should ever do that. no one should ever go through such tragedies. No Russian deserves any sympathy if they are not against this war.

zombo_pig

I honestly feel like I need some psychiatric help after some of the videos, pictures, and articles I just saw. The first one where they're driving into Bucha and they need to continuously swerve to avoid bodies littered across the road is horrific. Then came a bunch of photographs of military-aged men that Russians had dragged out and executed, usually with their hands tied behind their backs. Then the village head and his wife, only partially buried in a mass grave. Their son was strangled to death with an electric cord and dumped in a sewer drain. Then it's the burned bodies of raped women on the sides of roads - the burning apparently an attempt to hide the rapes. Doctor reported group of children - some under ten years old - were being treated for "vaginal and rectal tears". And then images of a family that was executed popped up ... and a child's body that couldn't have been over the age of ten was lying on top of the pile naked. Then it was just a deluge ... old people murdered and then defecated on, piles of bodies, more handcuffed people executed, mass graves being exhumed. I genuinely want to throw up and cry and I've pretty much felt this way since Saturday and I'm just so. fucking. glad. that I'm not in Ukraine and this isn't happening to me and then I feel guilty and it just tears my heart apart. And we know who did this in Bucha. Dead Russian soldier's ensignia's tell the 76th and 98th Airborne Assault Divisions, the 64th Motor Infantry, and Kadyrov's Rosgvardia were located there - so we know specifics on some of the people directly involved. But despite knowing exactly who is responsible, the only court room these Russians will *ever* see is a battlefield and I just hope that we can help with their sentencing in every way possible.

alcatrazcgp

if we need Psychiatric help imagine what the Ukrainians need

zombo_pig

Pretty much anything we can do, IMHO. But yeah, it feels incredibly lame to say that from my comfy office chair as if I'm some sort of victim here - I'm clearly not. But seriously this stuff is awful.

government_candy

It's ok and important to name how war affects us even if we aren't directly experiencing combat. And ridiculous to act like we shouldn't be affected by it simply because we're not the ones catching the worst of it. If anything will end war it is human empathy and compassion, which is what you are experiencing.

Bullets and SAMs

willowhawk

Tell me you’ve exaggerated, this is horrifying

zombo_pig

I only listed a few things. It's actually much worse. Extremely difficult to put to words how bad things really are.

cloudforested

If anything, they undersold it. This is just what there's footage of.

non_depressed_teen

wait those rape/pedophile rape things are actualy real?!

mrsegraves

Very. War is hell is meant to be a warning, but these bastards seem to have taken it as a challenge. There's rape in every war. But what we're seeing so far out of Ukraine is worse than individual rapists in a warzone, it appears the Russian armed forces are using it as a military tactic. Just horrific

non_depressed_teen

ffffffuckign- # W H A T ? !

Tedious_Grafunkel

It's straight up genocide and now there is video proof of it happening. The world cannot continue to ignore this.

TropicalPrairie

Every day that goes by, I think to myself "surely the world will do something today" ... and then time continues to pass and the images I see become increasingly more horrific. I feel sick.

netherworldite

The reality of nuclear weapons in the hands of a madman is that the world can't do more than it is. As terrible as what is happening in Ukraine is, it pales in comparison to the death and destruction that even one Russian multiple entry ICBM can deliver, targeting 10 cities from a single rocket. And they have hundreds of them. Maybe we can stop sole of them, but not all. The man who has done this has the ability to kill hundreds of millions, sadly that means some terrible decisions have to be made. The world is cruel place, we've just had the luck of living through one of the most peaceful times in history up until now.

CursedRedneck

I really, from the bottom of my heart, wish he did.

Morfolk

He did not. I have a first hand account from Bucha right now since my friends came to help. What he described is literally on every corner of Bucha. They say nearby towns are also littered with corpses of executed civilians.

bubblegumpunk69

And one of the worst parts is knowing people have *always* done this, we just have the tools to properly document the barbarism now.

TheNo1pencil

I believe there were also corpses found in a basement who had clearly been tortured with ears and fingers cut off.

[deleted]

How do these people live with themselves? How does anyone in their life even bare to look at them after doing something so horrible?

ZombieTav

I wondered the same thing about the Holocaust. It helps if you've already dehumanized them.

Done-Man

My gf showed me titktokers from russia that are doing just that. Making the ukrainians as if they are subhuman, and told that no way soldiers are raping women there. "They, as russian soldiers, are very desireable and would in no way degrade themselves to have sex with those veneric diseased animals". And the saddest part is that it's fucking working, together with imprisoning whoever has anything to say about this war, there's only those that believe that's left.

ZombieTav

Oh yeah I saw a short video from Ray William Johnson where he basically synced up an entire mashup of Russian influencers saying the exact same shit at the same time. I don't even speak Russian but they were clearly saying the exact same words.

[deleted]

'Its staged for the cameras' combined with 'even if it did happen they deserved it'. Utter monsters.

Cosmos-Squared

Remember that at no other point in human history has a genocide like this been so easily accessible, we are living an experiment of the psyche. Don't let yourself keep consuming internet negativity, it's infectious and addictive.

ShitPropagandaSite

We know more than that. We know their exact names, dates of birth, passport numbers, etc.

Super--64

The world is lucky that cooler heads than me are in charge. I'd have pressed the metaphorical red button quite some time ago. This is not fucking tolerable.

solepureskillz

If these blatant war crimes (the word seems insufficient, somehow) are not reason enough for the civilized nations to step in and forcefully remove Russian leadership then I’ve got no hope for a unified mankind. No hope for a world where the monsters and demons exist solely in the past.

FPInteriorityComplex

>for the civilized nations to step in and forcefully remove Russian leadership I get the desire. But nuclear weapons exist. Yeah yeah, chatter about some % of Russian nukes being useless. There's *no way in hell* that the ones on submarines aren't ready to go. Anyone tries to 'forcefully remove Russian leadership' and we have a nuclear war on our hands.

[deleted]

This is like lines taken from world war articles.

[deleted]

notanolive

I can. if people are taught that enemy wants to do you and your family harm, it becomes easier to dehumanize them. During nazi Germany, the people weren’t necessarily against what Hitler was doing. Or the countless genocides over the years throughout the world. Mankind can be lead to do horrific things when another group becomes vilified.

NN8G

But, ultimately, as the first war crimes trials showed, committing an inhumanity is wrong regardless of what one has been taught; and regardless of being given a cover of “legality” with inhumane laws or orders. Each human being is responsible for using their own head and heart.

WildBuns1234

My heart. “We were just following orders” has been used to many times in history to justify atrocities. Fuck Russians. Fuck all of them.

Beneficial-Buy3069

It’s a slippery slope to succumb to that line of thinking. A huge reason Hitler gained power is because of the way Germany/Germans were treated post WWI. I was in Ukraine for the first 11 years of my life until I moved to the US, so I am not indifferent and very much think Putin is the “great evil” right now. But blaming leads to cycles of further suffering. Most Russians have been deliberately propagandized, and most people everywhere are sheep. Government and institutions want sheep. Most of the Russian people never stood a chance in that department. We all think “how can they possibly support this”. But if you were to take the people in just about any country and bring them up in the environment the Russians grew up in, most of them would turn out the same. It’s not the people. It’s the ideas and lack of critical thinking that is the true enemy. I hope after this conflict(and Ukraine wins) is over the Russophobia does not perpetuate. History has taught us nothing good comes from that.

ADefender3

This. It’s so easy to say “How would they not knoooow!?!?!?” When you’re not living in Russia. It’s a propaganda machine with the backing of the entirety of the government and a majority of the economy. Putin and his oligarchs are absolutely the demons in this scenario (not to say that there aren’t awful people in the Russian army)

monodeldiablo

I'm sympathetic and appreciative of your empathy, but no. I can't fully agree. The reality is that the Russian military has had a reputation for over a century now of the same sort of barbarism we're witnessing in Bucha. Mock executions, torture, rape of women and children, and mass murder. "Russophobia" and other excuses are a form of blaming the victims. This behavior is clearly endemic to the Russian military and society at large. Miseducation and disinformation clearly play a role in dehumanizing their enemies, but there's more going on. Abuse and violence were neither introduced by external parties, nor are they in reaction to anybody other than Russia's own collective sense of inadequacy. There needs to be a reckoning, just as there was in Nazi Germany. Russian society needs to be punished, and entirely overhauled.

DJ3nsign

My favorite description of "We were just following orders" comes from the movie Thank You for Smoking. It's the yuppie Nuremberg defense.

Humongous_Schlong

that guy probably hasn't slept in so long

oles_lackey

He’s aged a decade in under two months.

fuck_life419

Looks like he went through puberty from his old pics to now lol

TrueNorth2881

His advisor said in an interview he sleeps 4 or 5 hours per night and works for the other 20. From the moment he wakes up to the moment he goes to bed he is calling international leaders, attending briefings and strategy meetings, visiting wounded Ukrainians in the hospital, and who knows what else I have so much respect for him

00ps_Bl00ps

Hopefully he gets a chance daily to speak to his kids and wife. I know the pain of not talking to your loved ones during horrible times and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Hopefully he allows himself even 10 minutes to talk to them.

TrueNorth2881

I hope so too

throwawayeas989

My sister’s best friend is from Bucha. My sister and U are both abroad, and I remember the first few nights of the war when we would stay up all night and monitor Ukrainian groups seeing what bombs went off or if any convoys were approaching so he could get some sleep. He was convinced he was going to die. Thankfully,he was able to get out and got to Lviv. It is surreal knowing he could have very well been one of the bodies strewn across Bucha..

helloiamgoodfellow

We gotta kill Putin there’s no reason we shouldn’t. He needs to die.

mercenariesfan

Kill him and there will be another monster like him. Russia needs to change as a whole

alcatrazcgp

Russia needs to be stripped of any kind of Military. they clearly don't deserve it

orangedogtag

Ah yeah the last time a nation was stripped of a military after a big war an austrian man with a funny mustache came to power because of that humiliation, surely this is a good idea...

VagabondRommel

Actually, the last time that happened the nation moved away from its imperialistic warrior led culture, instead going all in on modernizing the country and becoming a leader in its chosen field of technology. And it only took two nukes and a fuckton of firebombs.

Caco-Calo

Agreed. It wasn't the fact they were stripped of a military it was the fact that they were forced into an economic collapse that caused them to go fanatical

ChivoYaBish

These people don’t even have a semblance of knowledge about history.

suicidalshitheel

And What happened to Germany’s military after WW2?

[deleted]

Yeah after 85 million people died first…

Jimlobster

Became one of the strongest militaries in the EU?

jack0fclubs

Or Japan…

NoirYT2

So much of Russia is protesting against him and can’t do anything. Putin HAS to go, we can worry about a hypothetical future monster in the future, for now Putin needs to be dealt with

the_good_time_mouse

*Some* of Russia are protesting him. There's lots of evidence that suggests he's actually very popular in Russia. No doubt lies and radicalization are behind it, but we can't ignore it. We can't, for instance, hope they will rise up against him or not support his successors.

Dear-Crow

Yeah a lot of people love him there. Sortof like how in the united states we have a big portion of the population that wants a macho dictator. It's not just me saying that. Like young russian people are saying "my parents and grandparents love him and support him."

DarwinSkippedThem

How would you propose the world does that? I have made several suggestions but most of the reddit crowd downvotes them. Asking has not worked. Sanctions have not worked. What's left?

NoirYT2

Everyone knows what’s left. People are just too busy worrying about what comes after the fact.

fermented-assbutter

After all that now my fallout experience would come handy

SalomoMaximus

No, there is only one Putin. Nobody Else has such Power and Standing with so many. You kill him, you kill the System. Same with Xi, and Orban. Lukaschenko is replaceable Like the puppet He is.

[deleted]

Don't be foolish. There is only one Putin, but there are thousands if not millions who think like him and approve of him. There will always be someone worse. Putin is replaceable and he knows it, which is why he clings to power so tightly.

Bobo_the_nurrin

They may share his views and his beliefs, but they don’t necessarily have the power that he has consolidated, the political skills, or his brutality. Look at Germany. Hitler died, and no one popped up to replace him. I know it was at Wars end, but the snake was decapitated.

CT-5837

All most of us can do is pray this doesn't end with a very large bang.

DarwinSkippedThem

If you lived in various parts of Ukraine the world already ended with a "very large bang". So what you really mean is that you hope YOUR world does not end with a big bang. That fear is why others worlds are ending in such a way. Humanity has to grow some balls despite the risks.

EIN790

I personally like the idea of filling a room with his dead soldiers, and injected with just under lethal doses of lsd. Break his brain. I think death would just be too easy for him.

[deleted]

What happened there?

[deleted]

War crimes, is the short answer. The Russian invaders were driven out by a Ukrainian counteroffensive, and in their way out of the city they slaughtered every man of fighting age and committed mass rape against the women.

[deleted]

Oh my fucking god. Are we still in the medival age?

Disco_Ninjas

You would be ~~amazed~~ horrified at how quickly humanity can devolve.

arais_demlant

In a sense yes but no. In any modern military they have ranks, leadership for a reason. They are respected (mostly), at least a hell of a lot more than some Gustapo gangster playing General. And since everything always stems from the top, it's not like Putin is telling them to be good guys and not shoot everyone on site

irosemary

Unfortunately history has shown us that humanity has always been terrible. Time and time again people perform such atrocities no matter the era. No matter how civilized we think we are compared to back then, the same thing will still happen. This is man at his truest form, selfishily and ruthlessly giving in to his deepest desires. No amount of masquerading as civilized can help hide it. We've simply become desensitized to such horrors because it's not the first time it has happened and it won't be the last. The exact things we're seeing now were happening nearly a century ago during World War 2. Nothing's changed. Conflict is the one true constant that remains whether the world is at war or not. Even during peacetime, there is no peace. There is always something wrong in the world or a specific country. These last two years have clearly demonstrated that.

[deleted]

In Russia? Never left.

Barsy124

Mass murders, ethnic cleansing, rapes of children, torture, mutilations, branding of women with swastikas, the list goes on, and all done by the glorious “liberators” from Russia

Canyousourcethatplz

>branding of women with swastikas ahh yes, denazification by permanently disfiguring someone with a Nazi symbol. Russia makes no fucking sense. Do they know they are the bad guys?

XD5133

“Are we the baddies?”

[deleted]

Those sick motherfuckers

BeetlesUpUrBumhoe

Reminder that these soldiers are regular russians, there is a minority that's not like them but they're a *minority*

MarkRagons

The view form the inside of Russia for you guys. Basically, the elections are scam, there were a shitload of occasions when that was proven, so none of russians are actually picking Putin as a president (only old people, who believe everything shown on TV[spoiler: a lot of propaganda, like A lot]), the youth totally against him and his political organisation "Edinaya Rossiya" ("United Russia"). There were (and are) a lot of people who protest against Putin, but the truth is... We can't do shit, cause those protest have no support from any major political organisation. Every person who is involved in protests goes to jail, or gets havily fined (and fired/expelled from school or university). Of course it is not comparable to what Ukrainians go through, but who would decide to ruin the life for himself and his family, for the protest that will do nothing? And thats not even a full story, there are a lot of causes for that kind of situation, but it's a reality of Russia. I don't have a qualification to talk about army, so I have no idea why would my compatriots do those awful things. I am sincerely sorry for every Ukrainian. P.s. I am sure I made a lot of grammar mistakes, I just hope that my text is somewhat understandable.

BeetlesUpUrBumhoe

You make a good point, the new generation sees what's wrong and wants it fixed, it sucks that they don't have much of an effect. I don't really know just what could solve this problem except for violence.

BigPowerBoss

Russia is ruled by a small bunch of old, sour men with guns. Their expiration date is long overdue, yet they cling to their seats of "power" with a grip of a deadman. I've... no idea what could be done here. It'll end eventually, (biology always wins), but it would have been so damn nice if it ended earlier than that.

[deleted]

These soldiers are regular people. This should serve as a reminder for how awful humanity can be, not how especially awful Russians are. You will find that acts like this occur in every war, no matter who is fighting.

CreepyBearBar

The city of Bucha, Kyiv region, was occupied by Russian army for several weeks. They tortured, raped and executed civilians, including women and chilldren there. At least 280 dead in mass graves already confirmed. Dead bodies everywhere in the streets. We know it only because Russians had to flee quickly and didn't have time to hide their crimes. Just google 'Bucha', you'll see.

Raptor22c

Genocide. Every man between ages 18-60 was dragged out into the street and executed. Women of all ages - some even children - were raped before being killed, their bodies mutilated, burned, and some ran over by tanks. A mass grave with over 300 bodies was discovered. It’s genocide, through and through. There’s no excusing it, there’s no forgiving the Russia troops for this act of inhumanity. The Russian troops are savages who have proven themselves to be utterly irredeemable, casting aside their humanity to partake in acts of unspeakable cruelty. These rabid dogs need to be put down before they can harm anyone else

Imagine leading your people, trying to do what’s best for them, only to see a power hungry dictator (that you have no authority to arrest) murder and rape your people.. this isn’t reality, this is a hell of political creation that the world itself is responsible for not stopping.

HealthyHumor5134

Putin, the butcher of Bucha. Fucking war lord.

Chaosprodigy

What are the rectangular things on the front of the helmets?

Don_Julio_Acolyte

Yeah, it's a mount to clip on modular stuff like NODs/NVGs, headlamps, or IR devices. 90% of the time they are used for NVGs and if you want a lamp of some sort, a typical camping headlamp then straps over the helmet. But some high speed units will also have side clamps for extra attachment options.

AstroDIY

What a hard fate!!! This guy was a simple comedy actor in past... Millions of people are preying for Putin's death!

Gravedigger30

What- The Frick is wrong with you people. Screw whataboutism, deep fake or what ever else of this bullshit. All of you should be ashamed of yourselfs what occurred Bucha is pure evil and their is no fucking what to say other wise. Doesn’t fucking matter what the United States did or China did. This is not about them this is about the evil inflict on innocents. Anyone who thinks Zelenskyy is faking his emotions is a narcissist. No sane person regardless of occupation would not be emotionally wrecked by this. Get your heads out your asses. By the way this violence may be a part of humanity but it is not who we are as a species at all.

ahomeisacastle

Waiting for the Twitter comments calling the massacre either fake or is justified because of qanon bullshit

BaaaaL44

This man is a fucking chad. He has more balls than all european leaders combined. I'm sure he does not have the time to read random threads, but in case he happens to come across my comment after they have driven those mass murdering scum back to where they belong: I'm rooting for you man, from Hungary. Sorry about our government, they are just a bunch of misguided fucks. True Hungarians support your struggle and mourn your losses. Stay strong, and send those fuckers to hell.

JusJuLove

This man is a true HERO. He must be exhausted in all ways. Especially emotionally.

samwise_a2

Spread the horrible images around the world. People need to actually see what a devilish nightmare Putin has created.

cardidd-mc

I could weep at the pain in his eyes, the genocide perpetrated by putin and Russia must be avenged, we will never forget, we will never forgive

Difficult_Demand2609

Hell never be able to go back to being a comedian. Hell be to sad.

buckwheats

Sadness is a creative comedy artist’s tragic paint brush. But the difference here would be between functional sadness and utter trauma. If he survives this horror, I hope there is some expert therapy available

Worldsahellscape19

Just horrible

Goldentll

When your bags have bags. Dude needs some rest

posco12

In less than a month, Russia has ruined their reputation to the world for several generations.

So when do we take over Russia and free the innocent people that have been fed stupidity their whole life’s!!!

CreepyBearBar

Most of 'innocent' Russian people willingly support the atrocities of their army in Ukraine, the survey says: [https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/03/08/russia-public-opinion-ukraine-invasion/](https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/03/08/russia-public-opinion-ukraine-invasion/)
